Location offered accesibility to U-bahn, Trains with a tram stop outside the door. The layout and offerings were good. Felt more intiment then other hostels. Common areas were on the ground floor.
The biggest drawback, was the creaking floors. I'm not a light sleeper and the noise level of people entering their room and using the common bathroom was very disruptive.

Very nice stay in a well-connected part of Berlin, very friendly staff who even upgraded me to the ensuite room (even the guys remodeling the lounge were really friendly when I accidentally wound up there), and convenient breakfast location. If I had any things to make people aware of beforehand, it's that I didn't see a lift, so be ready to climb stairs particularly if you're on one of the higher floors.

Nice hostel!! Bathrooms close to rooms which was good. Very close to the train station and only a few stops away from the main square. Staff friendly. Only given one towel for a 4 night stay and room also very hot at night and in the morning (only given one small fan)

Staff very helpful and the hostel is bright and clean with modern decor and plenty of shared showers etc. Nice kitchen and communal rooms; only down side is they are closed when Reception is, ie btw 10.pm and 8 am, so you cannot get late night or early morning access to kitchen area. There are plenty of bars and cafes and all night shops nearby, but that does reduce the 'hostel' experience to simply a place to sleep. My single room was spacious with a comfortable bed and basic furniture. Very good quality for the price and I enjoyed my stay.

Official check in at 3pm but was allowed to check in early at 11am. This was great as had heavy luggage and needed a nap before sightseeing. Also got a double room for the price of a single.

Stayed there this weekend as I was visiting my son who is traveling around Europe. My first ever hostel as I wanted to stay where my son was.
Was very apprehensive to be honest, but the location, cleanliness and qaulity were very good and I would use this again. Also felt a very safe establishment.

Quiet neighbourhood, yet close to the city centre.
Quiet, clean and comfortable, this hotel is located in Prenzlauer Berg, a really cool part of the city. Lots of very neat eateries and bars nearby (though the really cool places allow smoking inside - yuck!). Staff were very nice, and the room very comfortable. They have under-floor heating, so the room was toasty throughout the stay.

Really nice hostel. I had a private room, and was quite comfortable. The kitchen area was nice and clean. The hostel is not in the city-centre, but I found the walk enjoyable, and the tram station is very close. The neighbourhood of Pankow is nice too.

Family friendly and great location
This was a really pleasant hostel. I stayed here with my children and we all liked it. The kitchen access is clean and well functioning. Pretty too. There is a great little lounge area and free coffee and tea all day. The shared bathrooms were so clean and neat, we never even noticed that we were sharing. The rooms were clean and had all that we needed. The beds are a little narrow, but clean and comfortable. The halls are old so the floors are squeaky. If you are sensitive to sounds at night, you should ask to be in a room facing the inner courtyard (away from street) and up a few floors. The doors are locked a night for safety and the neighborhood is great. Short walk to transportation and 1 minute walk to grocery store. Tons of great food options in the neighborhood. We loved the staff, all of whom were so helpful and friendly. We will be back again!
One word of advice - if you arrive after the lobby closes, you cannot get into a room. Check lobby hours and make arrangements. I ran into a few customers outside the hostel who arrived late in the evening and were unable to get their room.

Dışarıdan çok fazla gürültü geliyordu. Çarşaflar lekeliydi. Yastıklar kocamandı ve hiç rahat değildi. Ortak tuvaletler temiz sayılabilir. Ama duşta kocaman bir perde vardı ve sırılsıklamdı. o yüzden duş alamadım rahatça.

Es un albergue de nueva generación en el sentido que ofrece habitaciones individuales y toallas como un hotel pero hay que compartir el baño, que no es un problema ya que hay varios en cada planta y siempre los he encontrado limpios. Además, tuvimos que llamarles por teléfono en dos ocasiones, una por olvidar la contraseña de acceso y otra por alargar la estancia un día más y en ambos casos nos atendieron rápidamente y fueron resolutivos. Hemos estado muy cómodos.

Ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer mit Bad auf dem Flur, alles war picobello sauber. Die Küche schien mir gut ausgestattet, man hätte sich selbst verpflegen können. Das habe ich aber nicht in Anspruch genommen. Einzige Kritik: Im Zimmer gab es keine Steckdose in der Nähe des Betts. Trotzdem: empfehlenswert! Und die Lage ist topp, man ist ruckzuck überall im Prenzlauer Berg, ÖPNV-Anbindung auch sehr gut.

A nice budget hostel with friendly helpful staff. Very large kitchen with dining room and shared lounge available downstairs. Lots of shared bathrooms so you can easily use them. Nice city area with lots of pubs and shops, metro just next to it. The only minus is the fact that you can hear everything from the corridor and the adjoining room, the creaking floors. A comfortable bed, when you have earplugs you can sleep.

Es war großartig mit vier Kindern in zwei Zimmern. Gepflegt, Bäder sauber, man hört die Bahn und Holzböden. Oropax gibt es kostenfrei. Die Tram startet direkt vor dem Haus. Die Küche ist gemütlich. Sehr nette, kompetente Menschen an der Rezeption. an Tolle Gegend. Wir waren alle begeistert von der Unterkunft. Danke

Sorry, this was not at all acceptable. The room was smelly (very unpleasant). It was also hard to sleep due to floors that squeaked no end, sending a ringing noise from anywhere in the building at any given hour. Exhausting! Upsides, Old Town Hostel has nice common areas, if you travel as a group, and is close Kastanienallee (great cafes and the like) and U-Bahnhof Ebersalderstr (tube station). Its location is very good. Still, I have stayed at many small hotels in Berlin, in the same price range I should add, that have been clean and quiet inside. I will not come back to Old Town Hostel.
