Spacious clean apartment in central location

Apartment was clean. Communication good. Close to food. Close to train station. Too many floors up and no elevator. Neighborhood was a little iffy- next to a strip club and hooka bar. I had no issues with it but it was mentally noted. Over all good stay. Would recommend.

fantastic location and apartment

Really good base for exploring the City. We walked for miles as its a very flat city so were more than happy to do so. Only a short walk to Alexzanderplatz and the TV tower.

The apartment was really clean and well looked after. Perfect location for a group of friends looking to explore.

weird check in system, no elevator

They ask you to check in at different location than the apartment, which is not really a walk-able distance with luggage (about 1 subway stop worth of distance). That is redundant and not customer-friendly. Also, be reminded that there is no elevator - I had 30kg worth of baggage between my work bag and my baggage and having been put to the 3rd floor, it was very frustrating.

This was my second time staying at an OTA property and our experience was wonderful. Old broken smelly. Inefficient customer service.

Very old broken building. Smell humidity all over. Check in office 20 min walk from actual building. If you come with luggage forget about it. Customer service inefficient, if anything wrong with the apartment you lose your money, period. There is no refund policy, not even a way to talk with management. Berlin has so much better options for the price.

Great Central Location

Only one U station from AlexanderPlatz (50 M from the front door) in an area predomimantly occupied by people under 40 Singles and Young families. Lots of small cafes and bars of all descriptions. A safe and interesting area from which to explore greater Berlin and learn about modern Berlin. Some beautiful treet lines streets lined with attractive period apartment buildings. Clean comfortable accommodation.

Can't find fault with cleanliness. Very impressed with the apartment....Only 2 minor and 1 major complaints. The mattress needs a mattress protector. It's a bit on the hard side (minor)...and no lift (MAJOR). Was assigned on the third floor with 4 big luggages and 2 hand carry bags!.....no extra pillows (minor). only 1 pillow per person

The hotel itself was great, but the fact that it was 2 subway stops away to register, and the fact that we were not acquainted with the subway and came in late that night due to unforseen circumstances, made appreciation of the facility itself difficult. We had to haul our suitcases down the street for 30 minutes before we reached the hotel itself, and then it had no elevator, so after hauling it up 5 flights of stairs, we had to then haul it down, as there was a separate entrance for our apartment. So up 5 flights one more time.

Get Ready for a Long Walk

Read the fine print on this apartment. The check in location is about a mile from the property. Luggage storage is also a mile away. The apartment was not cleaned one night. Other than that, the apartment is spacious and is in a convenient neighborhood with restaurants and groceries nearby.

Great location but families beware

The area is great and very easy to get about Berlin. I know Berlin well and it was fairly straightforward for me to get the the office to collect the keys and then to see my way to our apartment. This could present an inconvenience for many others. If you are arriving by public transport be sure to buy a day ticket because you'll need to get back on the subway to reach the apartment. We were facing onto a central courtyard as is typical of most older buildings in Berlin. I have stayed in similar apartments before and as per previous experiences, I had to sign a contract upon arrival stating we would be respectful of other inhabitants and keep noise to a minimum. Sadly, other guests ignored this. Perhaps it wasn't reinforced because it didn't impact on local residents. There is a bar on the front street that opens into the courtyard and that may have contributed to some of the noise but most of it came from the flats of guests. There was singing, chanting, shouting, screaming and extremely loud music. There was also a lot of running up and down stairs. I did complain and the noise from the flat reduced. However, it was replaced by noise from another flat. We left early on our day of departure and there were used condoms in the courtyard. It's entirely up to people how they chose to conduct themselves on holiday but if you are travelling with a family, its best you're aware that these flats attract guests who are interested in partying loudly all night.

OTA - Simply Brilliant

The only negative I have is that as I had booked the apartment last year, the email I received at point of booking was now out of date which led me going to the wrong office address initially. This was frustrating as we were carrying our luggage and it was quite a walk to the new office. Apart from that, I cannot speak highly enough of the team from OTA who were excellent in every way. The apartment was perfect for our stay and I would definitely use this company again and have already recommended to family and friends.

Nice apartment for 2 in central Berlin

The location of the apartment is outstanding. There are groceries, restaurants, and coffee shops outside your door. It's an easy walk to Alexander Platz. U bahn station is very close as well. Our unit was set back from the street, so it was very quiet. The apartment is not fancy, but it is very clean with a nice living space, fully equipped kitchen, and large bathroom. If you are 2 people wanting to spend time in Berlin, this is the place you want to be.

I feel like we were taken in by a bait and switch. The office near the apartment is now closed. The key was left in a small safe. We never saw a single staff member. There was no information on attractions or maps in the hotel. The apartment next to us had about 6-8 young people staying in a room meant for 4. They were screaming at 3-4 am. 2 of the 6 nights were OK. The other 4 were terrible. It was impossible to sleep. The room was nice and in a good location, but it did not follow through with the website stated on the website.

Handsome apartment in family friendly area

We felt very lucky to be at Old Town Apartments. The place was beautiful; full of stark generous East Berlin architecture.
It was an excellent base as well. We ate in the kitchen every morning, the bathroom had powerful hot water, there was an organic supermarket on the corner. There was even a play room for the kids!
We had heard that Prenzlauerberg was great for families. We found a brilliant way to explore it...

I enjoued staying at OTA during a conference in Berlin. The apartment is clearly larger than normal hotel rooms with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. The wifi was working well after some issues on the first day. The neighborhood is good with many restaurants ando grocery stores. U2 is very close and handy to get around eg. to TXL. The only inconvenience is check in that is not in the building but seem 2 blocks away. Overall a nice experience with a great price - value!

Good for an extended stay

Overall, very good and would recommend this place. Check in is at an office about 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Staff was friendly and explained everything thoroughly. Checkout is just placing the keys in a mailbox on your way out.

Definitely more of an apartment feel with an entry way and a small courtyard to walk through on the way to the stairway to the apartment. The furnished kitchen had 4 place settings and cookware for simple meals. Oven, 4 burner stove top, microwave, coffeemaker and small refrigerator worked for us. Grocery store is about 10 minutes walk. .

The test of the staff is when unexpected things go wrong. The heat in the building failed in the early evening and it was around midnight when we realized it. Expected low temperature that night was -7 C which is uncommon for Berlin. I called the office and someone picked up. After considering the options, he walked the 30 minutes over to the apartment building and tried to relight the furnace but no luck. He got us extra blankets and a 2000 watt space heater which worked out very well for us. All through this, he was very courteous and friendly. I asked for some compensation for the inconvenience and received a partial refund for that night. The rest of the week went flawlessly. Equipment failures happen but how the staff stepped up to this challenge speaks to their customer service. Well done.

No lift in apartment building so if you don't like stairs it's not for you! Apartment itself was gorgeous and so close to alexanderplatz, great value! Would stay again.

Perfect location & huge/clean place!

Amazing location!! Right next to a station and maybe 10 mins walk from Alexanderplatz so couldn't really be much better. Very spacious and modern place to stay, huge bathroom and lovely hot shower (perfect after freezing Christmas markets!). Nicely clean and tidy!
Internet wasn't great but that wasn't an issue for us as we were hardly in!
We arrived after a late flight and as instructed called the night-reception who said that they would estimate our time of arrival and meet us there! Nobody was there to meet us and we had to cal again, the guy was still at the office so really they should have just said to call when we were 5 mins away!

Very good choise for families , near the center

Everything about the hotel was exactly as I expected .
Also the location is very good near the subway Rosa Luxemburg (50 meters) and of course only a station away from Alexander Platz.
You can buy everything arround the hotel for your daily needs, or have coffe or breakfast walking by foot 20-30 meters.
The best choise of course is to use the REWE super market about 100 meters from the hostel .
It has everything in very good prices.
Allthough we had a flight delay and arrived very late at the hotel, the person of the office was right there expecting us and he explained everything on details.
Also the cussin was fully accomodated for a family.

Very clean, easy to find. Not far from the location you check in at. Secure... there were several doors you had to go through with your key before getting to your room. Great location for bars, restaurants, sight seeing in general. We booked the smallest room available and it was still spacious. Definitely would stay here again.

We went for bernival carnival we were there for 5 days,the apartment is very close to train stations,and food with a few local bars and supermarket.slight leak in our bathroom,but nothing a towel didn't deal with,we rang out of toilet paper and need a bathroom A quick email and it was brought over to us.just one thing more irons were needed,other than that very clean spaceious apartment,for a group of four.found the staff very helpful and nice.great vaule for money.only slight thing you had to keep logging into the wfi but again a small issue.but hey it's free so it's a Minor.we will recommend this apartment to anyone and will be back for sure next year.

This place was perfect for my holiday to Berlin. The team at the reception were very friendly and only happy to help with any questions. The rooms were clean with coffee and tea making facilities as well as appliances for cooking, heating etc. The beds and bedding covers were on the small side of single and there is only one giant pillow per bed provided. There is no lift up to the apartment so be careful as my Mum found this a bit difficult as she has limited mobility. It is very conveniently located near the tram stop and metro station and within walking distance to Alexanderplatz and surrounding areas. The barn coffee shop a few doors down makes a great coffee.

The apartment was very clean, the staff spoke English, and the room had every thing we needed. The bed was okay but was uncomfortable after a few nights sleep! Also found when others came up the stairs in the corridor to their apartment it would wake me but I'm a very light sleeper! My friends were fine! We had a very nice stay, only a short journey on the ubahn to mitte.

Amazing place to explore Berlin from!

I've just got back from staying here with my friend for a few nights... The staff at the main reception were great and it was amazing to hear them switching between languages to talk to different guests coming in! The apartment itself was really well equipped, nice & cost and in a really good location in Schönhauser Allee. The only little down side was that one night we got a bit of noise from the bar downstairs but nothing too bad and absolutely no fault of OTA. If I come back to Berlin I will definitely stay here again, thank you OTA for helping to make our holiday extra special. :)

I just want to give one suggestion here, if customer take train to collect the room key according to the address they given (Schönhauser Allee), you will difficult to find the office. Because although the same name, but Schönhauser Allee Station is not the nearest station. I suggest they indicate the nearest station name include which exit in the advertisment, will help a lot.

Great base for berlin sightseeing.

Great base for sight seeing in Berlin. Only five min walk to the U Bahn, and able to buy the tickets in the newsagents on the way. Office staff helpful. We were out most of the time but the facilities in the apartment were adequate for our needs eg fridge, kettle etc. Room on second floor which we didn't find out about until arrival, and photos of all the apartments on the web rather than the one we were specifically staying in.

Lots of stairs, updated and nice

The apartment was clean, updated and nice. The 84 steps up to the place look a little getting used to. Unfortunately the apartment that shared a wall with us liked placing loud music starting at 12 midnight and usually ending around 3:30 AM. The neighborhood could go either way in the next few years. Lots of graffiti but good restaurants.

I really can't fault OTA. They rang me the day before to confirm when I was arriving and even allowed me to switch apartments so that we were able to check in earlier than schedule. Apartment was spotless and well kitted out. Plenty of towels and what not. Location is spot on. 10 mins on foot to Alex and there are plenty of U-Bahn and tram stops nearby. Really happy - would definitely use again.

SECURITY ISSUES LET IT DOWN!

Berlin was amazing and the location of our apartment was ideal. Short walk to the centre and nearest underground station only a few minutes away. Unfortunately on our second day the apartment was broken into whilst we were out even though the door was locked and secured as advised. According to the police they had been to this apartment block a number of times in the last 6-12 months due to break ins. This could have been avoided if OTA had given us an additional key to the dead lock on the door or offered a safe within the apartment. With that said, it didn't spoil our holiday. The apartment was well equipped, supermarket close by and parking for only 5 euros per day. Would I stay here again? Old Town Apartments may be full of character and charm but security is an issue and needs addressing!

The OTA in Schonhauser Allee is great value for money and perfect for groups of 5 or more. The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped, the staff were extremely friendly, there were 2 underground stations within a few minutes walk, 2 supermarkets and several bars & resteraunts. The location is great for getting around town and we had no issues with noise from the bar directly below at all. Overall this was excellent value for money and I would not hesitate to use OTA again.

We very much enjoyed our stay. Room was spacious and clean. Thanks for letting us leave our luggage on arrival until room was ready. Would definitely visit again. Very economical for 4 people. Could upgrade the pillows. Overall our stay was great!

Christmas markets weekend-great stay

Weekend trip with friends. Ideal location close to restaurants, Christmas markets and pubs. Only fell down on the shower. It was an old fashioned bath with no separate shower.

Decent location but no shower

I’m giving it the lowest possible rating fairly or otherwise. I booked it specifically because in the photos it showed a shower. The apartment we were given had only a bath. As it was for a group I was embarrassed. When I called the Old Town Apartments company I was told ‘it must be broken’ and I said well no there is no shower. I was promised a call back. Funnily enough I got no call back, when I rang back his tone had changed to ‘no pictures on Expedia s show a shower, you’re wrong’ (which is false but where did facts ever get anyone in an argument). There wasn’t much point carrying on the conversation after he’d decided to blame me. Beyond that it’s a tired apartment with threadbare tiny towels. Very noisy street. Ok otherwise. Would like to go back to Berlin but will never use Old Town Apartments or Expedia.

Great base to explore the delights of Berlin

Really enjoyed our stay here.

Only thing the apartment lacked was a couple of fans - it was very hot when we stayed, so we ended up leaving all the windows open to cool the place down. That worked fine, but did leave us somewhat at the mercy of traffic noise (the road below is a busy one and Berlin drivers like to use their horns a lot) and (to a much lesser extent) the soundtrack from the rock club directly below us (albeit we were on the fourth floor). No one had any trouble sleeping, despite the foregoing, and we would definitely use the apartment again.

The apartment is well located in a fairly quiet area (in terms of late night carousing etc). There are enough shops and eateries to cater for your needs, plus the nearby U Bahn stop will get you to Alexanderplatz, Ku'damm and all points between. You can also walk to Alexanderplatz in ten minutes - there are some great bars on the way (e.g. Schnelle Quelle, one of the best Kneipes in the city).

Prenzlauer Berg proper is just a couple of stops north on that same U Bahn - great selection of bars and restaurants up there (e.g. the Prater beer garden).

Closer to home, there's a microbrewery (Pfefferbrau) just up the road from the apartment, and a very good, Kiwi run café called Antipodes just across the road - great breakfast at the latter!

The staff who run the apartment (on behalf of the owning company, OTA) were very helpful - handled our late check in (due to flight delays) with no complaints.

Our stay was only 1 day but we found the apartment to be centrally located, clean and handled our family of 5 nicely. The check in procedure was simple and friendly. The staff arranged a taxi to pick us up in the morning for an early flight. We stayed in the Tellman suite which was roomy and spacious. It was located on the 3rd floor and with all of our luggage was quite a workout without a lift to assist. The apartment did not have air conditioning but the flow of air in the apartment made for a comfortable night. The subway way not to far giving us access to the entire city of Berlin. The neighborhood was safe with several nice places to eat nearby along with a store for food supplies.

The apartment was very clean and had everything we needed except a bottle opener.... Which is essential !!! Good location very close to shops, places to eat and the u bahn. Although the apartment was on a busy road it was set back in private courtyard and at night was very peaceful.

Short stay in Berlin

We had two nights here and packed in a lot. We had a bit of a hard time finding the place to check in since our cab driver dropped us of at the wrong place. Once there the staff was really helpful and we found the wonderful graffiti alley.
Hotel is great value and well-located. Highly recommended.

Best location

The apartment is in the best location! In the middle of mitte 5 minutes from alexsander plats, heckescher market, water cruises and plenty more! Amazing restaurants near by. Very private apartment, we were 3 adults and a baby we had one big living and sleeping place, great kitchen fully equipped and a big room with shower and toilet. Amazing for the price! Couldn't be happier.

Fantastic

The office to collect the keys was located in the next road. Very friendly and quick to collect the keys. Arrived at the apartment and found a very clean and tidy apartment. The neighbours were quiet and apartment wasnt at all noisy to outside traffic. There were 3 of us and never felt like we were under one anothers feet. Would definitely stay again!

Two Star Accomodation at 4 Star cost

If you were on a budget trip these hostel level apartments are grand - no lifts, reception is a 15 minute walk, basic facilities - But we had the option to pick a four star hotel for the same cost in the same area - But we selected the Apartments as a luxury option - Hotel.com state that changing reservation of an already paid selection is easy - But when we called London HQ in an attempt to change our reservation back to a hotel the service from Hotel.com was distressing and disappointing - We made numerous calls only to be put o hold for extended periods by a number of staff - Our distress calls were met with indifference and no follow up - We have travelled extensively and never ever complain - but this was poor service, the worst we have ever experienced.
