We stayed in the penthouse for a two night stay. As the weather was very hot air-conditioning was needed after having the air-conditioning on there was a puddle of water on the floor in the kitchen right by the front door to the apartment unfortunately there is no Phone in your room and being on the 20th floor you have to contact via an AI assistance QR code. I logged the report and the AI suggested the maintenance team would be with us I put towels on the floor after an hour. I called again the AI team and they again said the maintenance team would be with us by then got a saucepan and put it under the leak as it was getting worse after staying in our apartment waiting for maintenance nearly 3 hours later the maintenance man came and looked at the air-conditioning unit to advise us it needed substantial work he apologised and said we should be compensated as it was a health and safety risk with towels and saucepans on the floor also as the front door was where the leak was you will be walking straight into the leak when you walk in the door. Since checking out the front of House Team did not ask how ask how asked they had been so I made sure I explained the situation and they disregarded it with no apology. I have since sent three emails over the course of a week and only had one response back which advised they were looking into it, and that was the day after I sent the first email the customer service is unfortunately minimal.

Stayed for a week with my husband. The hotel is nice and modern but the rooms are pretty small. Had issues on multiple days with the wifi and made several complaints. Our refrigerator wasn’t working for 4 days, come to find out it was not turned on. We had food go bad inside it.
Appreciated the free room upgrade as it gave us more space, however the new room lacked the washing machine we were looking forward to using.
Breakfast options were good and was reasonably priced as well.

Our stay was a mixed bag. On the pro side, staff were kind & quick w/ requests. In person check in was quick. The room was clean & quiet for London. Breakfast was convenient albeit w/ limited choices. Coffee & tea were available all the time.
Now for the con side. Not much technology worked. When I booked, I was sent an offer to upgrade to a 2 bedroom. I accepted as my sister & I were sharing; 8 hours after checking in I finally received notice that the 2 bedroom was unavailable. I was sent a QR code for check in that didn't function & a separate link that should have sent a 6 digit code for email verification but didn't. The TV didn't appear to be connected to the internet & also didn't have a lot of useful info. It would have been nice to have a physical copy of hotel/room info. The dishwasher at one point would not turn off, making loud noises. When we first contacted the staff they said they wouldn't be able to do anything until the next day b/c the maintenance man went home. When pressed, they said they could turn power off to it. Unfortunately as we found out over night, that also turned off AC during record highs.
Other cons include the shower shooting ice cold or burning hot water occasionally, presumably when someone flushed the toilet. My sister was going to sleep on the pull out sofa but we found no linens when we arrived, irritating when we just wanted sleep.
So as a whole, I wouldn't return but it wasn't terrible, just unorganized and sometimes frustrating.

Cosy and stylish hotel in an excellent location. Friendly and professional staff. Great gym and comfortable beds. Convenient with a kitchenette and so lovely to be able to bring a book and your own bottle of wine to the terrace. So near Aldgate East tube station and just a short walk to Spitafield and Columbia Rd Markets. We will be back!

This is a newish, really well run, high value for the cost apartment hotel, with kitchenettes, 24 hour lounge, and helpful staff. Location in White Chapel is really excellent. Famous White Chapel Art Gallery is a block and a half away. Movie Theaters, many restaurants easy walk away. Really superb gourmet grocery is just across the street. Famous Brick Lane district is a few blocks further, Only downside is less expensive units were somewhat snug. (We upgraded to larger unit after first night.) NOTE: if you book direct you get a good discount. We will next time.

Beautiful decor and comfortable rooms. Not the prettiest surrounding area, but still very good value for money, considering it's a 20 min tube ride to Kings Cross.
The Chromecast feature on the TV did not work, even after maintenance attempted to fix it twice. Neither the TV in the living area nor the bedroom TV would appear as casting options in the Netflix or Disney+ apps on my phone. This is not something that typically bothers me in hotels, as I'm usually abroad and too occupied to watch TV. However, as I'm actually from London, I was hoping to have some time to relax in the hotel and catch up on shows. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was the option to watch TV, so it was frustrating that this did not work as advertised.
The room was also incredibly warm. It averaged around 17 degrees outside during my stay, but the thermostat in the room showed that the room averaged around 25.5 degrees. This was just about okay, but I would avoid this hotel during the peak of summer. The in-built fan created more noise than cool air.
Apart from the issues with the TV and the room being too warm, the hotel was otherwise very pleasant. I wouldn't stay during the summer, but would return in the winter, if the TV issues are resolved.

We recently stayed at The Gate London and overall had a decent experience, mainly thanks to the great location. It’s very close to the underground and within walking distance of the Tower of London, which made getting around really easy.

The room itself was good, and I really appreciated the complimentary tea and coffee, especially as it was proper coffee rather than the usual basic options.

However, there were a few issues on arrival that let it down. Some parts of the room weren’t properly cleaned. The cutlery still had old food on it, the glasses were marked and dirty and there was some gloopy residue in the sink. We also booked through Expedia, which advertised a complimentary sparkling wine in the room, but this wasn’t there on arrival. We had to contact reception to request it and also mentioned the cleanliness issues to make housekeeping aware.

While the staff sorted the missing drink, nothing else was offered or done regarding the cleanliness concerns, which was a bit disappointing.

Overall, it’s a decent hotel in a great location, but the attention to detail and service could definitely be improved to match expectations.

Excellent apartment hotel style living.
Very quiet as I was on a high floor. Clean facilities and good devices to use.
Water pressure was good, free sparkling water.
I had to check out early staying only one night but I enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay again.
One advice for the building manager is to check the temperature setting dials as they’re a bit tricky to adjust and the room was quite stuffy.

We reserved a good for two adults and one child. The room was so small with the pull out bed that we could not open the bedroom door all the way to get out. This room should never have been provided to us for this stay. The shower head also came flying off when I went to turn on the water to take a shower. The place is not as depicted in the pictures and is not well taken care of.

The access to the lounge is a great touch- with free soft drinks 24/7. The terrace outside would be lovely in the summer.

Located within 2 min walk to Aldgate East tube station- making it convenient for commute. Some other main attractions like Tower Bridge, Tower hill are also walkable from here. Stayed here for 6 nights. I had thought I booked the room with breakfast, but it apparently wasn't part of the package I asked Expedia to contact the hotel, but they were unsuccessful in making contact. At the end, it worked out since the Gate offers kitchenettes in each room. I just hope I didn't overpay for the room.

The start wasn't great, however, when the room was out of conditioner and short of towels on the first night. I contacted the AI Concierge, which was not the most convenient way, but the only way you can communicate with any employee is to talk to the AI by phone. I had asked twice by AI and the third time in person downstairs. The housekeeper came the next day with these items. The hotel is great if you don't have many requests or needs, but if you do, it may be difficult to get a hold of someone.

Pros:
-Great location to commute into central London. Nearby multiple Underground and bus stops
-Grocery stores close by
-Comfortable beds and black out curtains

Cons:
-Difficult to reach staff or management to address concerns if they arise
-Chromecast didn't work in room, but we didn't bother to contact AI concierge
-The Gate had certain time slots designated for breakfast by which floor you are on, which isn't ideal if you are on a schedule. For example, floors 16-20 assigned to go to breakfast at 9:45-10:15am.
-They advertise a \"5th-floor lounge features a modern self-pouring wine stage\" but this was not seen

Sent two emails asking for something special for my wife in the room to celebrate our anniversary but got no response. We had two single beds pushed together in the room which was the worst way to spend our anniversary. The bottle of still water in the room was opened before our arrival. Overall I would not stay here again.

We didn't have breakfast so can't comment. However, were asked to pay for our stay when we arrived but had already paid so had to provide evidence. The room was very small and not up to spec cleaning wise. I spoke to reception about the size of the room and was told this was what I had booked. I don't know if the hotel was full or not but wasn't given the opportunity to upgrade. There were used coffee pods in the coffee machine, the kettle was dirty, the towel rail was broken and the room could have done with a freshen up paint wise. I had read reviews prior to booking and they were all very good - perhaps we were just unlucky.

During my 5 days here, they had 2 out of 3 elevators broken, making it extremely inconvenient to be able to go from/get to my room on the 16th floor. I also had an important package delivered to the front desk, which, upon check out, they said they were unable to find it. Additionally the pipes in the room continuiously smelled like sewage, a problem which was never resolved druing the whole week.

I get the feeling management doesn't care about the employees... that trickles down to the guests. If it's one staff member, bad apple. If it's most of the staff who really doesn't care about you other than checking you in and out, don't bother anything else in between... they'll just tell you whatever to get you to hopefully stop asking questions
