The photos are deceiving. The rooms are not available when checking in. Carpets are dirty. The bed only fit one person. The room was a Sauna and the hotel controls the heating. It was over all a MISERABLE stay and I wanted to check out as soon as I saw my room, but I was traveling alone and never been to London. I did not know where to go. I do not recommend this hotel at all

Clean comfortable room. Lovely and quiet, short stroll to tube station. Very friendly staff. Furniture dates but clean and adequate. Only downsides were awful smell from plumbing in the bathroom, lack of pressure from the shower, which also was either scalding or freezing. Would definitely return though, fantastic value for money.

Picking a random small hotel in London is always a lottery. The Vilenza was a good pick: clean and well-run and good value. There was a full-size fridge in the room (bit of overkill for my pint of milk!). The bed was comfortable and the shower hot. The stairs are steep but the duty clerk insisted on carrying my case. I will stay there again if I need to be in that part of London.

It's close to Whitechapel station so it's conveniently located. The staff were friendly and helpful, they gave me a hand with my bag. My room was spacious, but the furnishings were quite tired, the carpet especially. It also didn't feel as clean as I would've hoped. The kettle was outside the room in an adjacent space. Overall it's fine for one night, but wouldn't recommend for longer.

Gushing water outside of our room the entire night and although the manager was aware, he did not make a change. We had to check out of the room the next day. Contacted the manager multiple times about the cancellation, but he never reached out. After reaching out to Expedia, he informed them that I would be charged for the entire five days of stay. This is at best a one star hotel.

Lovely property, layout is a little odd. Basic facilities, only 1 fan in a triple room- would have benefited more if the room was cooler. Double bed was okay for comfort, single bed was uncomfortable- as you could feel the poles underneath but all in all an okay place to stay but I would only stay for a short trip.

Convenient location, just a short walk from Whitechapel tube station. Our room was a good size, with a little balcony attached to sit outside when weather behaving itself. Our stay was severely disappointing, primarily due to blatant false advertising. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were informed that our room was not located in the main building, requiring an inconvenient drive to a separate facility. What awaited us was far from the advertised experience. The room resembled a prison cell, a stark contrast to the images online. The sleeping arrangements were cramped and impractical, forcing us to climb over a double bed to access the bunk bed – a completely unexpected feature for three adults, and one that was deliberately omitted from the promotional photos. Communication with the front desk proved difficult due to our remote location. While the bathroom was adequate, the lack of soap was a basic amenity that was surprisingly absent. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel due to its misleading advertising and subpar accommodations.

The bathroom was clean but not the bedroom. The fridge and kettle were broken. The kettle was making sparks when we tried to use it which we pointed out on day on, but although they said they would fix them, they didn't. They said there would be housekeeping but no cleaning took place. When we came back to the hotel in the evening, our key card did not work anymore and there was no one at reception. It took long to get hold of someone on the phone who then had to come and let us in.

Feels like a tired hostel

Truly misleading pictures. As I saw in other reviews - it feels nothing like a boutique hotel but more like a tired hostel.

The receptionist was very nice and welcoming during check in.

The studio room was in the basement. Large, clean…ish. Somewhat depressing but ok for one, short night stay.

The price tag and the pictures suggest a hotel of completely different quality though, so ready yourself for a mild disappointment.

At check-in - I was asked to go to their 2nd building - a 5 minute walk away - to a room over a Turkish restaurant.
It looked nothing like the room online that I thought I booked, it was just an old a room in an old building where I went on to spend a sleepless night due to the noise from occupant of the room next door - sounded like he was a resident of the old building, not a guest.

Good spot when looking for a comfortable hotel near the station. Good neighborhood. Great food and market choices around as well. Not really loud there either. Comfortable beds, Id say, but nothing spectacular. I will say, the amenities are more than what i was expecting, which really made the place better. The only thing I wasnt a fan of was the wall paper peeling off of a corner at one point. This didn't affect my stay there, just made me give extra thought on how I may view rooms when advertised and pricing. As this place is somewhat expensive, that's not a great look. Even so, I'd recommend the place still mainly because of its convenience, quiet area, the amenities, and cleanliness

Not a luxury hotel

Booked this hotel to be near the London Tower which it was. This was to be a luxury hotel but it definitely was not. We were traveling with the family and had thirteen bags which they saw when we did an early bag drop. When our room was ready they put us in the basement. The basement room had no elevator to get down to it. Instead we had to carry all 13 suitcases down tiny little steps. It was a hot day for London close to 99 degrees. The room we were given had not windows safe to open and no air conditioning. We roasted in the room. It only had one fan for two separate rooms. The pillows were flat and when we asked for more pillows the lady at the desk said they didn't have any. Imagine a hotel with no spare pillows. The bed was hard, and the shower would go hot then cold.

First of all, the gentlemen working there was very helpful. The location was a short walk to the tube and a yummy restaurant nearby. We were on the basement floor, which was good because it was really hot and we only had a fan. We had a double/queen bed and two futon-type single beds which were VERY uncomfortable and should not be used as a \"sleeps 4\" accommodation. There was also no restaurant which Expedia said there was. Overall, convenient location and clean.

Good place for last minute

We booked this the same day and it was affordable compared to other few that were unavailable during the Taylor Swift craze. It was in the basement, and as others have said, is really a house that's been outfitted into a hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. However, the hotel itself is in mediocre condition. Many outlets didn't work and the light didn't work over time. Some appliances and the cots seemed out of place. We could hear people on the street, albeit not entirely disruptive. For the price, it was good. It has everything you need for a comfortable and working stay and is secure.

No clean towels, no WiFi, closed reception, toilet was very dirty, no 2 persons sheet, For a 3rd person there was no bed only a couch which was very small, no cleaning during the day. Nice staff, condition of place was pretty low

Let me first say that the staff is really nice. That was highlight of the stay. The first room in the basement was full of flies so they kindly moved me. Otherwise, it was a pretty funky place that they try to make look nice but it was awkardly laid out (e.g. bathroom door didn't open all the way as it hit an adjacent cabinet), furniture was pretty long in the tooth, broken bathroom mirror and tile. My bedroom french doors opened to the laundry cupboard. I have no idea how this is rated higher than a two star hotel.

Although the room was advertised with a king bed and it was a queen/double, the staff were extremely accommodating and this was excellent value. We were given a balcony and enjoyed our morning tea in the sun. The location is extremely convenient to Whitechapel, including Brick Lane and the Tower of London, and a short tube or DLR ride away from everything we wanted to see.

Very clean comfortable cosy room. Includes fridge, microwave and some cutlery, so you can order food to your room if you would like to. Also has a lot of tea and coffee with a kettle which I always need on a trip away.
Location is 10 minutes to train/ underground station, so easily accessible.

Lesson learned for booking hotel in London…

This was our first family London hotel booking. The pics posted are totally misleading. The hotel is in down town white chapel area with pathetic environment. Old home turned hotel, constricted room, no air conditioning, poor daily room cleanup service, narrow hall away, no elevator, poor room sound proofing. Family experience was horrific!

Perfect for a quick stay in London

5 minutes from Whitechapel station, this is a clean boutique hotel with a comfortable bed, sufficient amenities and a very helpful reception. Upon checkout, I left my wallet and they called me right away, quick to respond on whatsapp to coordinate retrieving it back. I'd stay again for a short stay. I stayed in Room 101 by the garden and would recommend.

Turned up at hotel and no way of getting in. Another guest had been waiting over half an hour and had called and left many messages. I tried and nobody was answering.

Took decision to get train home.
Then got an automated checking in text over 4 hours later saying to call them to check in!

Contacted Hotels.com who couldn’t get through to them either.
Then two days later Hotels.com tell me they won’t issue a refund as still can’t contact the hotel.

If you want to spend money staying in a hotel you can’t access or contact then this is the ideal pick. Otherwise you’ll get better value and service from a park bench.

Very affordable stay considering it’s close to central. The room in itself was decent, had the amenities I needed. Even had an iron which I used. One downside was it didn’t have an aircon. Also would have like if room was more isolated rather than located so close to main hallway and reception but then the building didn’t have much space. However this didn’t affect my stay. Bed wasn’t the best and the extra bed wasn’t comfortable according to a friend who stayed in for a few hours. Bathroom was clean and neat, but didn’t have bathroom mats provided, as floor would have been wet easily as the shower door needed fixing as it wouldn’t shut properly while you were having a shower. But for the price I paid of £75 at the time, it’s wasn’t that big of a deal, there’s always room for improvement though. Receptionist was very friendly, polite, and very accomodating, 10/10 for the staff.

The hotel is located close to the Tube station Whitechapel, the spacious room including private bathroom was clean and contained everything you need.

In the event of technical issues (like heating couldn't be turned on) the receptionist was able to solve the problem immediately.

The room also have access to the backyard which in summer certainly will be nice to have.

My first time in this hotel, friendly reception and explanation for the door code etc, I stayed 3 nights and found the microwave, toaster etc very useful for a quick breakfast. I was however disappointed that they had used a single size duvet inside a double duvet cover, fortunately the weather was mild that week otherwise it would have been almost useless to keep warm. The staff did however repair the faulty heating fairly quickly.

Stick with the hotel, not the studio.

Room booked at actual hotel location we were told was having an issue with damp and instead offered a studio a 6/7 min walk from the hotel. The receptionist was super friendly and leaks happen so we accepted. Advice would be don’t do this, stick with hotel room and don’t take studio option. Cleanliness was poor, condition of the bathroom was poor and comfort of the sofa bed was terrible. The studio is located above a chicken shop and the smells aren’t great. Located on a main road (opposite Blind Beggar pub) and was very noisy - luckily we had ear plugs. Great staff member, poor cleanliness and condition of room.

Sadly I couldn’t recommend. I’ve lived in London for 10 years previously but even I felt like this was in a really shady and unsafe area. I stayed with my family here and thought this is only a small hotel. We think it’s one of the best. You get a fridge, microwave, toaster etc in your room. The room was very clean and tidy too. At 5 pm, we could not check in because there was not a staff member available to check us in. The front door was locked and they did not show up for another half hour. When we were finally shown to our room, it was flooded. We were assigned another room which had no environmental temperature control. When attempting to shower in the morning, there was no water supply to the room, except for the ceiling, which dripped water without stopping. Eventually, the water supply was restored and showering commenced. The water temp continuously fluctuated between cold and scalding with no adjustment of the valve. The only redeeming factor was a good local pub. Maybe try camping instead? Please note that I am not one who normally submits reviews. I do not recommend this place.

The hotel was nice and the staff were helpful. However, the doorbell/door knock does not work or staff were instructed not to answer the door. Otherwise the room was nice and well-equipped. The area around the hotel is awful, a very diverse place that is very disruptive and alarming.

My stay at Vilenza Hotel was amazing. I stay for 5 Nights and again rebook for 1 night. Everything was excellent. I cant praise the staff enough, they are amazing! helpful and friendly. I will definite recommend it and stay again when in London as its closer to the tube and all necessary things.
