Hello. we are a father and my 24 years old son back to london after 12 years... we took the 2 bedrooms apartment for 9 nights. That's very important . They have only one of that kind of apartment at this hotel. This is a very good air-conditioning plus 48meters with 2 large beds when only 1 sleeps on its one bed . Thats the reasone i chose that appartment . Very good coice. The comfortable beds .the air-conditioned flat and large space and dining table in the middle betwin the 2 bedrooms . One has a door. The other has a curtain to close. The staff was very friendly. The location is amasing and very close to aldgate east underground station. It's a new building and new facilities including the lights . The t.v and the usb socets all around . The only down side was the poorly maintenance of those staff . Some of the furniture and kitchen facilities are not proper maintained. After calling the maintainer guy several times they were fixed . But it should be that way . All others things are excellent. We both loved our stay . Especially the beds ... 🛌

This is the second time I’ve stayed at this location and won’t be coming back - the staff are unprofessional, snooty and just lack any level of understanding that they are in the service business. The rooms are extremely dark, I guess it’s not cool to have a well lit room so you can apply makeup comfortably.

I’ve previously stayed at Locke hotels in London and Manchester, so I knew that I’d have a great stay. I was somewhat surprised at the reviews though after booking, as there’s a big disparity between the reviews here and at their other properties. To comment on some of these:

1. Space: I was travelling solo, but this would have been ample for my husband and I for a couple of nights. There is hanging space, ‘worktop’ space to put things on, and the bathroom is a really good size.

2. It is very dark in the rooms! This was only an issue for putting on make up. There are no bright lights which can be aimed at any mirror, and there’s a film over the windows for added privacy which affects the light. Again, only an issue for make up.

3. A few reviews said that the apartments are not well maintained, but I found it to be extremely clean and no scuffs etc.

4. The bed is so comfortable and there is no noise! I slept so well, and this is very rare for me. It’s also completely dark in the room due to blackout curtains which was great.

5. The location is fantastic. You’re just a couple of minutes’ walk from Aldgate, and can walk to Spitalfields/Brick Lane in 15-20 minutes. Liverpool Street is around 15mins walk away, and well connected. Especially good if you are looking for an accessible station with the Elizabeth Line.

Overall, the reviews made it sound somewhat unappealing(!) but this certainly wasn’t my experience. Great location for a solo traveller too.

The room was very tastefully decorated, and it had a fully functioning kitchen. My only complaint was that you could hear people, as well as the elevators. Also there was a green light on the roof that couldn't be turned off—it was annoying to sleep with.

The rooms ARE small, but they are comfy, VERY well equipped, clean, and the location can't be beat! The bed is especially comfortable and the shower is amazing. We do wish we were able to adjust the air con on our own, but we were there during a heat wave. We would definitely stay there again.

Room was definitely not what we paid for at all, they advertise a living room and dining area in the “cozy studio” room type and it says absolutely nothing that the living room and dining room is only included in a few of their studios. So you pay full price for these facilities and might not get them. In my case I was put in an extremely small room that really only consisted of a bed, small kitchenette, and a bathroom. They were not able to move me to the room I paid for nor did they seem that they cared that they are falsely advertising their rooms.

Unfortunately this Locke location is feeling a bit worse for the wear despite being new and having modern design. There were dents and scuffs all over the walls, the curtains were dirty, and there were stains on the couch. I also found the staff to be a little unfriendly. It’s really a shame because the property has such a cool design aesthetic and it’s in a very good location. I hope they can turn it around!

Good things are location and friendly staff. BUT...
Hotel is very overpriced. The space is extremely tight (especially for more than one person). no window that opens. The air conditioning was inefficient, making it either too hot or too cold. It has a kitchen, but you have no place to sit, the bathroom was also very dark and the sink was clogged. No water bottle even on the first day..no coffee machine. They consider themselves an Eco-friendly hotel
but put tea in plastic bags to customers..
I don't recommend the place.

The room was well kept, I had a minor frustration with the cast function on the TV but this was not a major issue for our stay. Transport connections to the hotel were great, there was plenty in walking distance too.

My stay was good. All you need for good sleep and transportation. However, I stayed for 4 night and the temperature controlled just worked on my last night of staying plus my WiFi in my room didn’t work so I will need to share with the room next to me. Also they won’t clean your room if you book less than 5 nights so that’s a little not what I expected. You can still asking for fresh towel though. This hotel is good and budget friendly.

Good:
Riley (front desk) is the best. I've asked for a scale (portable) for my luggage at (almost) the middle of the night and we went above and beyond, going outside, to get me one! Best ever!

Modern, fresh and stylish accommodation conveniently located to Aldgate East tube station. Room was rather cramped but this was expected. Great views from our room of The Shard and surrounding area. We had some problems with Wi-Fi connectivity but reception acted promptly when I raised this. En-suite was spacious, but shower door didn’t close properly and extractor fan not working. Some nice welcome treats were provided. Replenishment of tea, coffee etc would’ve been appreciated.

The reception team were very good, especially Simona. The location is excellent, close to public transport, eating options, supermarkets and tourist stuff too. The room was pretty modern and mostly in good condition.On the negative side, the bed was badly located for a couple, it was really dark, and far too hot for us to sleep.

Modern space unfortunately let down by a few issues. There was a missing light globe for one of the main lights. The shower flooded the bathroom every time you used it due to the door. The kitchen cupboards were not good. There was a musty smell in the bathroom. A luggage stand would be helpful.

Only negatives were- the hallway and room doors are super loud and heavy, they aren’t soft close. So it was very noisy in the morning when cleaners were going in and out of rooms re-stocking supplies etc. I had to go out on 2 occasions and ask them to be quiet.
There was also no fridge in our room.

Other than that it was perfect. Super modern and clean. Would definitely stay again.

My stay @ Buckle street studios was nothing short of amazing. Stayed there 6 nights, checked in Aug 22, out Aug 28.
From the time, I stepped into the reception area, I knew I had made the right choice. My flight from Texas was long (8 hrs); got to the hotel around 2 & requested to be checked in early, which Rania did without hesitation. The hotel is clean, quiet, very well located, plenty of dining, grocery store options & just a stone throw away from the Aldgate East tube station.
My only gripe was with housekeeping :( 3 days into my stay, I asked for the trash to be emptied; they did so in the kitchenette, but left the trash bag in the room :(, then left the new bag for the bathroom wastebasket on one of the chairs in the room, so I had to empty it myself. I was really upset & had to take the trash to the bin myself across the street. Not deducting any stars for that experience, brought it up so it doesn’t happen again. The reception staff was really apologetic.
I’m planning on visiting London again & Buckle Street is definitely on top of my list. Thank you <3

We stayed here the month of August and it was wonderful. Quiet, cozy and conveniently located.

Aldgate East, Aldgate and Liverpool
Stations are all close. There are loads of great options for eat in or takeaway in the neighborhood.

The front reception staff are friendly, helpful and very responsive. Thank you!

Having on site laundry facilities was so convenient. We used this several times over our stay and the machines were generally easily available.

The only little knock is the shower. While the design is lovely, it lacks function as it leaks quite badly. We had to place towels around the perimeter to avoid fully flooding the bathroom during even the shortest showers. Not huge deal in the grande scheme of things, but something worth a fix.

All in all a wonderful stay and we would highly recommend.

A mixed experience. The location is excellent, with great transport links and plenty of convenience shops and restaurants nearby.

I had to wait about 10 minutes after check-in for the room to be ready, and then, when I got to my room, a male housekeeper unexpectedly walked in while I was there to drop off a blanket and an extra towel. Thankfully, I was just working on my laptop, but this could have been a very uncomfortable encounter. It seemed like there was a communication lapse between reception and housekeeping. I had been in the room for about 20 minutes And he asked whether I was in the room for a long time to which I replied to yes.

The room itself was quite small and felt cramped. The layout wasn’t ideal, with the kitchen next to the bathroom, and the air conditioning was inefficient, making it either too hot or too cold. Being close to the elevators meant I could hear every bit of noise, though it wasn’t too bothersome to me. The full-length mirror was positioned so awkwardly close to the bed that I couldn’t see myself properly, which added to the cramped feeling. The windows were tiny, and even with the room’s lighting, it felt dim and a bit claustrophobic despite the nice decor and comfy bed.

I have stayed in many studio apartments In London but for a longer stay, I’d definitely look for something more spacious. Overall, while the location and staff were great, the room’s issues were a letdown.

Great, clean, quaint. Centrally located to the Tower of London, tower bridge, spitalfields & borough.only 1 bulk away from my job (Uber) at Aldgate tower- incredibly convenient.
Got your moneys Worth too because It had a small kitchenette& free laundry.
Room was very small though- studio. Is certainly better for 1 than 2. Sadly never got our room cleaned. We woks up pretty late and they must never have come back. Would have loved that. Aside from that, lovely property & decor. Even better location. Highly recommend!

It was really lovely! Beatrice did everything she could to make sure we were comfortable, gave me some good recommendations and also treated us as it was my partners birthday. Really went above and beyond.
The room is minimalist, small but cosy, an ideal place to stay either for a weekend or if you need to stay in the City for work as the room had a kitchenette with all the necessary utilities. Shower was spacious with good pressure, comfortable seating in the room and the shared spaces in the building. Also the attached/associated coffee shop is beautiful and serves wonderful coffee.

There Are Better Options

Although the location of Buckle Street Studios really can't be beat (STEPS from Aldgate East and a 10-15min walk from Spitalfields Market) the overall stay for me at least, certainly could. My room had an HVAC issue with a constantly cycling fan that I was told could not be repaired (although miraculously it was 4 days into my stay - thanks maintenance guy #2!) and after the staff told me there were no other rooms to move me to in the morning, the night staff offered to move me to another room directly above the first near the top of the building which had a much *louder* HVAC problem making the room sound like a wind tunnel. Thanks, no thanks.

Although I was in the room for one full week the room was never cleaned/serviced - despite being assured by staff it would be. I had to carry the rubbish out myself. The lighting was ... spontaneous? The lights would turn off randomly as the card dock at the door to the room was loose/if the card was put in what the dock determined to be \"the wrong way\" bought you about 3min of electricity before you were plunged into darkness. A complimentary bottle of wine brought up and left in the room to make amends for inconveniences like these was delivered with no way to drink it (1. I don't drink + 2. Maybe you're right in thinking anyone living with this would have gone straight for the bottle itself?)

Unless you love the Hammersmith & City line, you can probably do better.

I had been impressed with other Locke locations but not so much with this one.

My room was constantly getting dustier and dustier. Our shower door didn’t close so water would seep out onto the bathroom floor entirely soaking the mat each time.

I could hear the elevator from inside my room every single time it was called through the day and night.

For the second time in Locke facilities I had a problem with the laundry room, not only was housekeeping also using the same washers and dryers that were labeled for guests but my clothing was in the dryer for over two hours and I still had to use the hairdryer in my room to finish drying my socks and underwear.

The Studio in this particular building can technically sleep two people but you will
Be crawling all over each other. There was nowhere for our luggage and barely any space for clothing.

The kitchenette was rendered entirely useless because it was blocked by a table and chair that could not be moved anywhere else in the room without blocking the door.

Other than the mostly friendly staff I don’t think I would call any of my experience a positive impression.

Best Hotel Stay

I stayed in a Cosy Studio and it was the best hotel stay I have had. The room had everything you needed and more. I was also warmly greeted by Rania who allowed me to check in early and was very helpful. The location is also great, close to Aldgate East. Overall, great staff and an amazing place to stay as a solo traveller. The stay exceeded all my expectations and I will be back for sure.

Excellent facilities and room. We booked the corner studio which was...cosy for two. Takes a bit of a squeeze to move around the general areas but nothing uncomfortable. Only shortfall with the service was that we requested for our bins to be cleared 3 times over the span of 2 days but it was not done and we had a full bin with no where to dispose of our trash. The house host did rectify the issue for us and the trash was cleared but no trash bag was replaced so it was still a minor inconvenience to us. Nonetheless still enjoyed the stay at Buckle St Studios, very accessible location with amenities like Tesco and Pret nearby for convenience. Will definitely still recommend Locke accommodations!

Great concept, not so great in reality if you are over 40. Lighting was marginal in bathroom for shaving or doing makeup, airflow was poor (got hot at night), no place to sit upright. Crowded space.

This property is way too small. I’m surprised this even passed regulations. I have so many bruises on my arms, feet and legs. Hazardous stay, I wouldn’t recommend it Al all. It is clean I give it that.

A lovely hotel in the best location in London

The hotel is beautiful, tidy, pleasant and very safe.
We slept in a micro studio, which is actually a decorated room with a small kitchenette.
The place and the room itself are very well equipped and beautifully designed, but the room itself is small and compact, unlike the photos that show something more spacious.
The meznine floor is designed and spacious. You can work from there at your convenience, just like a small wework. There is even a studio for recording podcasts with the full equipment.
Later there are also washing machines there for free 24/7 use (there are even washing tablets).
The reception staff are welcoming and available 24/7. You can also communicate with them on the hotel's WhatsApp.
There is no restaurant in the place itself, but across the road there is a small cafe and sushi of the same owners (at a discount) but there is nothing like visiting the Hotto-potto around the corner 10 meters away. Don't forget to prepare a fire extinguisher. These soups are very spicy.

What i liked most about it was in an area where you could travel to Central London on the tube within 15mins, tube station was only 2mins walk

The apartment was cosy with everything you would need an oven, microwave, fridge pot and pan and all other stuff you would need to cook your own meals
It had fully air conditioning to keep your room at your own desired temperature, it had a powerful shower bathroom was a very good size
It had a Samsung hd tv, free wifi speeds were very fast,
All the stuff were incredible nice and polite and always happy to help
I stayed in quite a few hotels/apartments in London this is one or if not the best all round one i stayed in, i will definitely look to book again when I'm next in London

Very convenient to access the Aldgate East underground station, 2-3 min walk. Neighbourhood is quiet, with a convenience store besides the property. Would definitely recommend.

The staff was super friendly and very professional.

The bed was very comfortable!

My room, 1005, has a 'couch' that is completely wrong for that space. The designer that put it there needs to be forced to live in the room for a week with literally nowhere to sit comfortably as the couch takes up half the room with the bed the other half.
