Upon arrival, the Aldgate staff were nothing short of AMAZING for first time guests visiting not only the residence, but visiting the country. An email exchange was answered quickly to prepare me as a guest of what all comes with the apartment. It would have been nice to be notified about a remodel which did produce noise throughout the day, this was overlooked, but overall it wasn't something that couldn't be handled.

The appearance was very clean upon arrival as the first impressions and the view from our floor was amazing. The apartment itself was spacious and exceeded our expectations. Furnished nicely with a modern touch. Stocked with essentials that are needed for a week-long stay. However, due to the nature of the construction of the remodel, it left us without certain entertainment amenities that was guaranteed such as Wi-fi and local t.v.

You can not stay at a hotel/apartment without these two, no matter how many times you go explore the city, you still need some form of entertainment after an exhaustive day out.

With that said, we immediately notified the front desk staff and they did everything possible to accommodate and or try to work out a solution, but unfortunately, not all solutions worked in our favor.

Once settled into the room for two days going on three, it's hard to uproot yourself and your belongings to a new room without the assurance that it would be better, so we stayed and endured.
Overall, the apartment was pleasant and would recommend

Very poor had a fall no safety in the bathroom injured myself very bad no hand rails, the bath & sink are very blocked & not safe no matts on the floor due to this I had fallen.

The whole experience was disappointing & made my stay very painful very stressful. Would not recommend. Informed management seemed not very helpful or bothered at all.

The apartment had everything I needed, was clean, comfortable and lovely. The staff were lovely. There could be some training done on how you welcome a guest in a wheelchair and how to interact with disabled customers, as I saw my colleague not get spoken to directly.

However, I was not informed there were building works. I was woken up by the noise and it was really loud, right outside my window. I then had workers walking past the windows and had to close them for privacy as they could see me. It would have been nice to have been informed or given a discount as this did ruin the stay.

Not lived up to the expectations I got from the photos while booking. There is some construction work going on outside the building and all what I saw from windows in the apartment are metal rods. Not maintained very well and everything from furniture to decorations to building hallways feels old rather than modern.

The room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. My issue is the building work that was taking place throughout my stay. It appears to be some kind of cladding replacement, scaffolding up the entire outside of the building and builders drilling into the exterior walls between 8am and 5pm. Had I known in advance that the hotel was undergoing building work I'd not have stayed, despite everything else being fine, the fact that this was not disclosed at the booking stage has put me off staying at any Marlin owned apartment again. I retrospectively reached out through hotels.com to the hotel for a partial refund which was refused.

The property was surrounded by 10 floors high of scaffolding which we wrre totally unaware of at the time of booking. Rooms were therefore not private as you had workmen outside your window from 7am and the rooms were dark and noisy.

There was absolutely no water pressure and shower water was just a trickle on the 9th floor. Thankfully we were moved to the 6th floor, so we appreciate the front desk staff for changing our room. However this was only after a room became available, so half our stay was quite inconvenient. Noisy construction meant that we had to be out of the building by 9 am and return only at 5 pm, incurring unexpected costs and defeating the purpose of getting a place with a kitchen. Our planned reunion with two other families was quite compromised, sadly.

Room was ready, but we were 2 hours before check in. They would not hold our bags so we could explore. They said they are not set up for this service. We were charged ￡30 to check in. Got to the room and had no water. Inquired at the front desk and they were aware but did not inform us. It was back on about 3 hours later. Pictures on website do not depict actual site. The outside of the building is in complete shambles. Looks like it is in the process of being demolished. Not a clean or safe area. Sirens 24 hours. Staff rude. Attempted to use the washer/dryer combo in the kitchen. Washer cycle took 2 hours. After 2 additional hours. clothes were still wet. Dryer had a horrible odor and did not work. Would never recommend this site. Horrible odor in the hallways. Smelled like sewer. By far, the worse place I have ever stayed.

The sofa bed as a couch was not comfortable, the bed was very hard & when I opened the fridge all I could smell was bleach, so I didn't use it. The bathroom was nicely refurbished, but some minor defects remain in the finishing (white grout on tiles & dark paint on white tiles), there was no pressure in the shower, but perhaps due to ongoing renovation works in the building.

Great location; under construction while we stayed

This aparthotel is located just a few blocks from a Tube station, which made it ideal for our purposes. Unfortunately, there was construction going on, of which we were not notified in advance. We had no access to our balcony (the door to which was rigged to open only an inch or so). During the days, there were men working on our balcony. We were not told this ahead of time, and it was noisy and made us uncomfortable. The staff were nice. The space was great with a full kitchen, but there were no instructions on how to use any of the appliances, etc. The provided towels, toiletries, and 1 extra roll of toilet tissue, but bring your own paper towels, etc. There were plenty of dishes, cutlery, etc.

I booked the apartment to work in during the day, building work was extremely loud all day and there was no internet which we weren’t informed about until the morning.
Bins in the bathroom hadn’t been emptied, there were hairs in the bath. Sofas were sofa beds that didn’t fold way properly, scaffolding all around the windows. Overall very disappointing.

If only I had been told……

Overall a good property. However, I was not made aware of the mass building work going on outside of the property erecting scaffolding and removing cladding. The drilling and banging was dreadful. Also, the pillow cases were not clean and were covered in yellow marks.
The sofa bed in the living room was so uncomfortable when used as a sofa and needs replacing

What i liked:
- Good location with multiple transport options (tube and buses available at walking distance)
- Lots of restaurants, grocery stores and shops in the close vicinity.
-Employees at the property are professional and courteous

What I did not like :
- Property seems to be undergoing renovations, so the lower floors are extremely noisy during the week days. Hotel did not mention anything about this upon check-in or on their website. Self-serving omission?
- Check out is super early (10.30am!) with no possibility to store luggage (this is indicated when you book but not in line with standards in this day and age)
- Cleaning was rather basic.

If you are planning to travel to London from the US, do NOT stay at Marlin Aldgate Tower Bridge for one reason- they have a policy against holding luggage for early arrival. International flights from the US usually arrive in the early am. So we got there around 9 am. The lady there would not let us leave our luggage at the hotel. She told us the tube station two blocks away could store them. Marlin Aldgate’s policy. We had to carry 12 bags (8 suitcases and smaller bags) to the station, which then told us there was no such thing. We finally found a liquor store nearby that would keep them for roughly $80. I had to leave all my belongings on the day we landed… at a liquor store. Oh, and they also told me if the room was ready early, we could get in for $50. I never expect to get in early… but why if it’s ready? If the room happens to be ready, what is the big deal? We did store all our earthly belongings at the liquor store until around 2:30 in the afternoon. At that point, she did let us get to our room 30 minutes early and graciously waved the charge. We stayed there nine nights. The place was fine besides that. Kitchen, living room, washer and dryer. Clean. Well kept. Good access to public transportation. HOWEVER… don’t stay there if you are coming from the States. I had someone tell me I should’ve asked before booking. I didn’t even know that would be an issue to ask about. But regardless… even if you check and know, why would you want to be in that position?

The staff were very friendly. The room was clean and we'll equipment for our stay. The property does not have AC so be cautious during the hot months. I was unaware the property is under major exterior renovation. Be aware Monday through Friday 9-5 the hotel is currently an active construction site. There are no amenities at the apartment building. Close to the tube very convenient. Felt very safe and enjoyed our stay inbLondon.

Large apartment with separate kitchen and bedroom but no shampoo, soap or shower gel so had to nip to local supermarket to get some.

Room was quite cold with no ability to increase the temperature but at the rate I paid for the room its still a bargin.

Loads of scaffolding and boards up outside the building making it really difficult to find the place!

The bed in the main bedroom was so uncomfortable. The washer/dryer was super convenient to have until it wouldn’t set to dry. We had to leave all our clothes out so they could air dry, wound up having to blow dry them. The property was close to the Aldgate East Underground station, which was great. The couch and dining room chairs could use some spot cleaning. The rest of the apartment was clean and spacious. Good view from the living room windows. The front desk guy was great! It was noisy the last night we were there. An alarm in the building next door was going off and there was a party down below (probably due to people coming to town for the London Marathon).

Unfortunately the lift wasn’t working, they had an alternative lift but this had buttons removed, which meant walking to the ground floor from the 8th floor down and travelling up to the 6th but walking two further flights. Not a problem for us but less mobile people would struggle. Reception said it had just happened, another resident said it had been like that for a fortnight. Lots of scaffolding up and boarding up around the building too.

Our apartment didn't have floor-to-ceiling windows as was indicated by the photos. The building was overall outdated, this feeling being also valid for our room. Even though the apartment was quite spacious and fairly clean, the furniture and windows seemed a tad old.

I stayed in a 2 bed apartment and was pleasantly surprised by the space. We had plenty of room and more. The staff allowed an early check in and we were happy to pay the extra charge. Everything was in working order and the place was very clean on arrival. Plenty of clean towels for all to use and all appliances in the kitchen were functional too. It was lovely and quiet during the night so we all had a good nights sleep and the place is only a short walk from Aldgate East underground. It wasn’t cold without the heating on during December but the heating was quick to warm the place up anyway and make it cosier. Plenty of heaters around the place, all working. The small supermarket next door was an added bonus. The apartment helped make our weekend in London a very enjoyable one over the festive period. Definitely recommend this place and will be happy to stay again in the future.

Very noisy especially at night especially when windy (which it was most of the trip) you could hear the wind whistling and rattling the windows which made sleeping difficult. Like that there was a washer/dryer but it would take 4 hours to wash and dry one load end it would still be wet or damp so ended hanging up clothes to finish drying.

We stayed for one night in the penthouse. Communication ahead of our stay was very good with front of house staff, but once there, they didn’t want speak at all! No hello, good morning, goodbye….just heads down staring at their computer screens. The lobby and apartment was very tired and dated, but I will add that the room was very clean. Water pressure was non existent, the shower dribble was barely enough to get wet. Overall it wasn’t an awful experience, but I wouldn’t stay again.

Really pleasant stay here with wife and 16yr old..room was great size, amenities and clean. Location was really good. Less than 5 min walk to tube. Only downside, arrived 1 hr before check in time and asked if room was ready, they said yes, but would have to charge a fee for allowing us to just drop our bags in the room. Thought this was a bit steep, seeing as the room was ready anyway. We decided against paying and had to sit in a food place and get a coffee. I could understand if we turned up 3 or 4 hrs early, but 1 hr didn't justify a fee. Staff were pleasant and welcoming each time we left or came back. Would definitely recommend and would absolutely stay here again..

This hotel was very good and reasonable for the cost. Our one complaint was that the washer/dryer combo did not dry our clothes at all. The beds were comfortable and water hot in the showers. Full kitchen was lovely. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Recommend for multi family or travelers wanting privacy.
