The real bad: Room was not cleaned thoroughly. There was filth behind the door, so you know they're not cleaning everywhere. Surfaces were wiped with something slimy that I didn't want to place anything on. Walls had hand marks on all sorts of weird places. Safety lock on the door was not working. The plain bad: Room was very dark. Wallpaper was peeling off. No place to put your language besides the desk. Not a single shelf in the shower to put your shampoo or soap. The good. Bathroom and towels were clean. The bed was comfortable and sheets were clean. A/C worked properly. Lobby: Looks great for show but there are no amenities besides two chairs.

For one of the cheaper hotels in Brooklyn, this isn't bad. Reviews complain about a hint of cigarette smoke smell and yes, that is the case. But the room is nice and modern, located near transit, and I got what I needed for not a terrible price. There was a opened condom wrapper laying on the floor near the elevator for 3 days. Atlantic Avenue can be a bit sketchy, especially at night. The sound of the LIRR trains going by isn't so bad, it sounds like occasional rolling thunder. If I need a hotel again, I would stay here.

My initial review was too long to add here so I will summarize: Broken elevator, so I couldn't bring my suitcases to my room, the desk clerk said my room number out loud, guests had parked in the handicap spot and access aisle and did not have handicap placards or plates, towels and bedding were dirty and covered in brown/yellow stains and makeup, yellow stains on the mattress, hair all over the shower and bathroom, dirty tissues under the desk, dark splatters and smears across the walls and doors, dried toothpaste on the sink, lightbulb hanging by wires from the socket over the shower, and the floors were sticky. My room was between a large group people who were incredibly loud- I needed to ask the front desk to tell them to turn their music off well after midnight. There is no website or contact info other than a phone number for the hotel, so I haven't been able to email them about my frustrations. after staying in over 15 hotels over the past 4 years in NY/Brooklyn, and traveling throughout the US over the past decade for work, this is by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had.

I was looking for budget accommodation near LIRR before flying out of JFK and Mirage checked all the boxes. Room was clean and staff held our bags with no issue. We didn't hear people in other rooms but a lot of sound came in from the door. This is not a location to sightsee from but I would stay here again if I wanted a good stopping point between JFK and other parts of NYC.

This hotel seems to be smack bang in the middle of the can**bis smoking community. Our first night we were kept awake from the constant smell of weed along with loud music until 5am. Even though this is a non smoking hotel the staff did nothing about it.
The room itself was clean but the location of the hotel and the can**bis smoking stayers let it down.

roughout the night, our room had a strong odor of marijuana, to the extent that it felt as though someone was actively smoking in the room with us. The odor was also present in the elevator, despite the building being clearly designated as smoke-free. This significantly impacted our comfort and ability to rest.

In addition, the room was not properly stocked or maintained. The soap dispenser was empty, and there was no trash bin in the bathroom, which was inconvenient and below expected standards.

I was also concerned by the lack of accessibility to hotel staff. The front desk receptionist was behind bulletproof glass, and when we attempted to contact the front desk by phone, we were unable to reach anyone for assistance.

Overall, this experience fell well short of what I would expect

Our night was awful. Room smells full of weed and hallways, elevator. I told them please make sure don’t give us smoking room but non smoking room is also smells terrible. We couldn’t sleep whole night because of train noises which was coming every 10 minutes whole night. Our next door room blasted loud music which was other thing we couldn’t sleep whole night properly. There was huge onsite parking problem, when i did my booking i even called them to confirm there will be onsite parking available since streets parking is not safe which they agreed upon they do have but when we reach it was full and we ended up parking on street. I would rather give them zero rating. Will never book hotel here.

There is a very small parking area behind the building, recommend getting there early, park, and use public transportation for your stay. The bed was comfortable, although the pillows could have used an update. The check in person was nice. The rail system is in front of the building so there is some noise from that. It is a non-smoking facility, but the smell of cannabis was strong from other guests.

Room was clean and spacious, bed was very comfortable but the hallway and elevator smelled heavily of weed and cigarettes. The bathroom was very large with a great walk-in shower. The train noise was pretty constant, however I didn’t mind it as I need white noise to sleep so it was perfect. The parking situation was as described by others, very tight and limited. I had booked a garage spot because of the reviews but the garage was closed when we arrived at midnight so I was forced to use the hotel. Luckily there were a few spots available so it worked out and saved me a lot of money. The train station was just a few blocks away- easily walkable. I had reserved many months in advance and got a great deal so if I got the same rate (or cheaper) again I would definitely stay again.

We were given the wrong room upon check-in, and the room itself smelled strongly of smoke despite being advertised as a smoke-free accommodation. In addition, the room was located directly next to the subway, resulting in constant noise throughout the night. We barely slept and the overall stay was extremely uncomfortable. This was, by far, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had in a long time. I am extremely disappointed.

The staff were very attentive to our needs. Other guest had a tendency to smoke in their rooms and it would wake us up in the middle of the night. The staff did what they could to refresh the areas. In terms of the amenities, the room had a fridge and the microwave was in the common areas along with the coffee maker. The bathrooms need more cleaning and found dirt behind the bed near the wall.

The room itself was okay. The location is problematic, however. I am a Brooklyn native and used to live nearby. This area is a bit rough but I had no negative encounters. Right next to elevated LIRR tracks and noisy, though. Housekeeping is minimal to nonexistent. Hallways are unclean and smell of marijuana. Staff is minimal and unhelpful.

Parking was horrible! Very few spits and a 90 degree angle to exit. Nearly impossible if all parking spots are taken.
Not to mention the police officers waiting to interview staff about a rape that occurred within aight of the security cameras. Perhaps it was an isolated incident, but does not give good safety vibes.

Absolutely horrible experience. Its in an area where going outside during the night is dangerous, during the day is questionable also. The \"parking\" includes 5 spaces in a back alley that is difficult to get into without damaging your vehicle. Our room had a train directly outside of the window that went past every 30 minutes ALL NIGHT LONG. The hallways smelled like cigarettes. The shower in our room was the stall type and because the floors werent level and slanted away from the drain, the water from the shower would flood the bathrooms and living area instead of going down the drain. Just horrible. The staff was kind enough.

Great Potential Wasted due to Poor Management and Terrible Housekeeping.

The area is sketchy and noisy, but this could be a nice hotel in a lower end neighborhood if it were well-managed. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be managed at all. Other than a single, rotating, bored person glued to a smartphone at the front desk, this hotel seems to have no full-time staff.

The hotel actually is well-outfitted in certain ways, with an elegant-looking lobby and reasonably well-appointed rooms, but maintenance appears non-existent. The hallways are not clean and the outside of each door is dented or badly scratched. If you were to look at a picture of a hallway, you might well conclude that the hotel had been abandoned.

I was a guest for six days, and was in my room for much of the day, yet I never heard or saw anyone cleaning the common areas. My room was cleaned just once in six days, and only because I requested it. My trash cans were overflowing.

The smell of marijuana is ever-present other than in the lobby. My room smelled of it.

If this were priced as a budget hotel, it might be worth a short stay, but at its current price point, travelers can do better at other Brooklyn hotels.

Community was safe to walk around. Train was noisy during the evening. Rooms were not clean, with hair in the shower and bathroom. Keys didn't work, and gave me the master key twice, which was unsafe for all guests. They stored luggage but offered no storage luggage tags and allowed guests to place and remove their own bags, giving everyone access to stored bags. Paint is chipping from hotel doors, carpets in hallways are dirty. It looks like the owners don't care about thr property. Expedia charged far more for the room than the hotel actually charges.

Love the hotel, room was clean, staff were super lovely, friendly and were always happy to help if we had any queries and request.
Only issue with the hotel is that the LIRR runs directly in front of the room where we stayed and it was so loud at night and there were a few loud, inconsiderate peolle next to us.
If it wasn't for the LIRR I would give it a 10/10!

I would not recommend this hotel, nor the neighborhood. I must have been unconscious when I booked this for an upcoming wedding celebration. The hotel room is 50 yards from elevated trains going both directions.
The noise is a problem, the neighborhood is another problem: not crime per se, but dirty and nothing to do or see.
The staff is friendly and nice, and the hotel is clean and orderly on the inside. Good TV and beds, linens. There is no turn down service, which I didn't mind. I asked for more towels because there was no shower curtain and the water sprayed everywhere.
Find somewhere else.

Reasonable budget option

The hotel offered good value for money, given its location - which was a key consideration for me. It was very close to the LIRR (noise could be an issue for some as the elevated line is right outside the hotel) and a short walk from the Subway. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The are plenty of shops and dining options within a 5-10 min walk. However, there was a smell of smoke at times - and the hotel looks like it could do with a refresh and clean.

If you travel to New York, don’t take your personal vehicle to this hotel. There is one 10 foot wide. Alleyway to get in and out of the back six car parking lot and the angle to get back out of the parking lot will almost certainly have you hitting the wall with your vehicle scratches dents and damages Will occur

We had a good stay at hotel, Mirage Brooklyn. Our room was very small, but efficient, clean, all that we needed for each night we stayed. We were fortunate to get a parking space at the back of the hotel, even though the Spaces are very limited. All the staff was very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is very close to public transportation.
