The hotel itself was wonderful, but there is no parking available. Also, if you've never been to Salem before, this hotel is on the section of Essex St that is a pedestrian walkway ( hence no cars allowed) otherwise great hotel!

Specifically, the church street lot has parking available through the phine app. However, if you arrive during later hours (9 p.m. - 8 a.m.) the app notes that it is \" unavailable\". I was able to park in the parking garage, but whould have preferred the lot.

It was a great stay. Nice room. The only complaints was that it was so hot in the room and cold outside. You couldn’t adjust the temperature because they said “the air conditioning had not been turned in for the season”. We kept the heat on 65 degrees and it stayed well over 73. Also could use either a full shower door or a shower curtain. Location was great.

Air did not work and heat would not shut off. It was 80 degrees in the room the entire time. It was so hot we couldn’t even sleep. Staff did not offer to change our room or anything. I have a medical condition that flares up if I get too hot and this was a horrible experience.

There was a lot to like at the hotel Salem. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. Our only criticism was the room was drafty and very noisy. We were kept up by loud conversations in the hallway and from other rooms. Better sound insulation would be nice

There were Mice running across the floor. The room was cold. The shower had no door, and water would get everywhere. I was told two hours after I was supposed to check in that my room wasn’t available and that they had to downgrade my room. I find this quite suspicious, because my room was supposed to be ready two hours before they called. They offered to reimburse the difference, but it has been a week, and nothing. Perhaps it will come through, but no one answered my phone this morning when I inquired on it. They offered me free breakfast for the mice, which didn’t include my beer unbeknownst to me, and a travel voucher. I told them I wouldn’t be back for some time and they told me that they would figure something else out. I still don’t know what that something else is. There are far better places to stay in Salem. Stay away!

Our first room had a water leak and staff (who were fabulous, btw) immediately moved us to another room (king vs queen and the new room had a nice soaker tub). Both rooms appeared clean. That said, when I pulled to covers back in the king room, there were multiple hairs and flecks of something on the sheets. Upon further examination, there was a clear appearing stain on the sheet as well. I did not alert management and just rolled with it. The bed was super comfortable and we slept well. It was a little strange to me that the hotel offered zero breakfast despite having a large room in the back with seats and an attached restaurant that is only open for dinner. There was also NO onsite parking or availability for door drop off, so we had to carry our luggage .25-.3 mile to the hotel, which was fun.

Room was great, loved the decor and tall ceilings. Only complaints I would have is that there’s no fan (that works well at least) in the bathroom so it can turn into a steam room pretty quickly. Other thing would be that the TV didn’t have streaming service accessibility, which is pretty standard in modern hotels. These are pretty minor though, loved everything else! Great staff and room is well kept.

This was my second stay at Hotel Salem and I can’t say enough positive things about it. Rooms are clean, all the staff is friendly, location is by far the best, as you walk out right onto Essex street the heart of Salem! We love it, we enjoy staying every time we visit Salem! Loved staying at Nantucket property and I recommend the Narragansett property to friends staying in the area. But disappointed in this property. No hot water in shower, sink didn’t drain and didn’t have hot water. When we first arrived the first floor was cool but comfortable but the loft was overpowering hot. Had to run AC for quite a while before being able to use that bedroom. Would not recommend.

The staff were lovely, the room was cute and clean, but to me, that's the bare minimum. Our plugs shorted out, and we didn't have lights on the nightstand or plugs that worked. The next morning, all the plugs shorted out, the water pressure was bad, it took a very long time to get hot water, and there was a loud noise of a compressor or something going on and off outside our room all night. The room was super cute, as was the whole hotel, but unfortunately, I wouldn't stay here again.

The room did not at all meet our expectations, especially at the price (over $500 with taxes and fees for a Saturday night). The room was large, but incredibly sparse. One chair, no clock, no full length mirror. The TV was very small for a room this size and was so far away from the bed it would have been difficult to watch (we didn't even try). We had planned on a 2 night stay but cancelled our 2nd night because of the room. The reason for 2 stars instead of 1 is because all the staff was great. The rooftop bar was also nice and fun. However, the room was a dealbreaker. We wouldn't have even stayed the one night if we could have gotten other accommodations. We were very disappointed as soon as we entered our room. It's unfortunate since it wouldn't take much to improve it. The issues seemed obvious to us. The hotel we moved to for the next night was great and less than half the price (but was for a Sunday night).

This was a behaved older building, which I loved. However, I think there could have been a little more effort put into the cleanliness and amenities. The tile flooring was a little sticky and the room was oddly furnished. Very loud banging at 11pm which sounded like it was coming from within the walls. It was conveniently located right off of Essex and right there in walking distance from all the shops and main attractions. The parking situation was annoying considering you still had to pay to park, and walk to your hotel. The room price should also include a parking pass, but that was not the case. The staff were exceptional and very kind.

Feels slightly unsafe when the homeless people across the street had access to the lobby and restroom areas, regardless of the “no public restroom” signage. You don’t need a room key to get to the floors so anyone could easily get to your room. Just didn’t sit right with me.

The sliding barn doors for the toilet were less than ideal. It didn't create a lot of privacy. However, the location more than made up for any inconvenience. We loved the location right in the middle of all the activities.

We also really liked the water availability with the bottle filling station on our floor. It was a very easy and free way to stock up every night and put it in our refridgerator so we had easy access all day the next day.

But they are very upfront about that and the 3 garage options they give are fairly priced and not far. You can park and not need the car until departure! We walked to everything we wanted to do very easily!

Can’t beat the location! Room was clean. We had a view of an alley and brick wall but we weren’t in our room much. Staff overall very nice and helpful except the night we checked in the person wasn’t the friendliest. The water stations on each floor were great to refill water bottles. Separate bathroom from the shower area didn’t offer much privacy. Overall quiet at night, beds were comfortable. Off site parking but they did call the night before to give us suggestions for places to park (3 minute walk).

The only thing is that because it is so centrally located, it definitely is noisy into the night and early in the morning, but for the location, you can’t beat it!

The best word I can use for Hotel Salem is \"quirky.\" Let's get my les-favorite things out of the way and then I'll rave. No parking: You must use a paid parking lot nearby. Additional expense and just saying suitcases don't roll easily over brick & cobblestone! Weird room setup (at least in ours) where the bathroom is broken into 2 totally separate rooms with weird not-quite-private barn doors. Parts of the hotel - it's like it wants to be retro and industrial but it also is like a little in need of updating - worn paint, old (and oddly placed) outlets. On the flip side - location cannot be beat!! Right in the heart of all the spooky Salem fun. The staff was outstanding - friendly and accommodating. Some fun high end touches like quality soaps and lotions plus real glasses in the room. And the rooftop bar is lovely. All in all - a good experience.

These guys were really communicative- text messages keeping you updated, asking if you needed anything, welcoming you. It was really nice.
The property is in the middle of it all, which made it really convenient to shop and eat and then pop into the room to drop packages or freshen up when needed.
They have a great rooftop bar/restaurant- we didn't get to enjoy it (they had an event) but I hope we can get back to do so!
The only downside... the parking is kinda far away, and we had to take the luggage trolly through the streets, to the garage, and back. It was awkward and exhausting. I wish they had closer parking or at least a drop off point!

Great location, hotel food offerings were very good. Rooms can get a bit noisy. Rooms are a nice size. My Room was an ADA Accessible so plenty of room and large bathroom w/nice big shower. I was lacking a few smaller amenities, like an ice bucket and coffeemaker. The bedside lights had to be turned off on the wall across from the bed (no bedside lighting/no clock either, Otherwise you can't beat the location - lots of shopping and dining options nearby and most all of the points of interest within walking distance. Parking in Salem is an issue in general, but there is a parking deck nearby if you are lucky to grab a spot. We noticed that most shops don't open until 10 or 11 so going before this time will make finding a spot easier.

The location of the Hotel Salem is perfect for a carless visit. Staff was helpful and the bed was comfortable. I also appreciated the refillable soaps in the room, rather than disposable plastic containers. Sharing a room with a friend, we did not enjoy the design of the bathroom, which left a large gap to see and hear whoever is using the toilet while in the room. Also, we were woken up at 6:30 on the day of checkout by a persistent knocking and never found out what the sound was.

It is in a great location. Walk out the front door right in the middle of all the shops and attractions. It is such a fun place to explore and visit. We plan to visit again to explore more of the waterfront area. The only thing that was a little odd in the hotel room was the bathroom set up. Other than that, it was a nice hotel.
