We had planned to stay at the Extended Stay in Saugus during my daughter’s volleyball tournament and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.

When we first arrived, the lobby appeared somewhat worn, but we assumed that would not reflect the condition of the rooms. However, our initial room assignment had already been occupied by another guest. After returning to the front desk, we were given a second room.

When we entered the second room, we found cockroaches throughout the space, bugs on the bathroom towels, and a strong odor suggesting a dog had recently been in the room. Needless to say, this was extremely concerning.

The following morning at breakfast, there was no hot water available for coffee and several of the amenities advertised on the website were either unavailable or not as described.

We raised these concerns with the front desk, but unfortunately the response was unhelpful. We were simply told to contact the third-party vendor where the reservation was made. Our concern was not with the booking site, but with the condition of the accommodations.

Although we had planned to stay several days, we decided to check out by 9:00 a.m. the next morning and find alternative lodging.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend staying at this property.

The only thing nice that I can say about this place is that the staff was quite nice. As for the rest of the experience it was absolutely disgusting. Sock dander on the inside bed sheets from the previous guest. Head and neck dander on the pillows from the previous guest. So my guess is that they didn’t bother to change the bedding from the previous guest. Also the weird substance on the bathroom floor was very disturbing. Elevators were dirty too. But hey, you get what you pay for. So next time I won’t be so cheap.

It was the first hotel I’ve ever stayed at that has a stove top dishwasher. Everything required to cook a meal except for utensils cups plates, pots and pans. Not to mention the washer and dryer on the premises was broken the whole time I was there. I had to go to a laundromat to do my laundry. They kept telling me that it would be fixed tomorrow, but tomorrow came and it never got fixed.

paid extra for king and sofa but ended up with cheaper 2 queens and a kitchen chair torn apart with cigarette burns on it in a non smoking room. pillows are very poor and bed in on frame you feel trying to lay on it.people above us was bouncing a ball most of the night on the floor. after10 pm 2 dogs in the hall started barking away for hrs. then outside the window we watched 2 rats running in the snow and between the cars. no breakfast out. was not worth the stay.

Do not stay here. Hallways and elevators were gross and unclean. My first room was not even wiped down from previous guests, there was actual yellow pee on the bath tub, counters sticky and not wiped down. The second room all my toiletries were opened and used, pubes/curly hair on walls in bathrooms, sheets and towels full of dark black hairs. It made me feel gross to stay here and the staff could have not cared less. I will never be booking with Extended stay ever again.

I would give negative stars if I could. The place was FILTHY. I could not stay here because the floor was sticky, the room smelled AND the sheets were stained and had several hairs on the sheet under the coverlet. Looks like they didn’t bother to change the sheets between guests, just made up the bed. Absolutely gross. I told the front desk and they said they didn’t have another room so I would be refunded. A month later and I have yet to receive my refund. The manager was unhelpful and unprofessional. DO NOT STAY HERE.

I checked in and went to my room and both headboards on the beds had ripped in the leather. The one chair in the room the seat was also ripped. The description says full kitchen there were no pots or pans or utensils. The tv wasn’t working saying no signal. I called the front desk and no one responded so I took a trip downstairs. They put me in a new room. The set up was the same with no pots and pans or utensils the tv still says no signal. There was a big cockroach traveling through the walls, so I checked out and requested a refund. The guy at the front desk didn’t know how to process a refund and told me a manager would reach out to me please help I want my money back

Had to call out for someone to check me in after standing at the counter for 10 minutes. No instructions on where to find the room, breakfast, wi-fi or a cart to bring luggage in. Elevator and hallways had trash on the floors. Elevator stunk of weed. Room was the filthiest, most disgusting room I have ever been in. Microwave didn’t work. Bathroom lights were almost all out. Discovered the room didn’t include tv channels. Tried to phone desk, no answer. Went down to find a note that they were on break for 30 minutes. This morning discovered that continental breakfast which ran for another hour only had coffee. Desk man said, “It’s not my fault. I’m not the one responsible for stocking breakfast.” Good thing it’s Thanksgiving and everything is open to eat while we travel. Not! The only good thing about this place is the shower water pressure. Certainly not a reason to ever go back though!

There was nothing seriously wrong, just a lot of small things and a general shabbiness to the property. The closet had only three coat hangars and they were unable to give us more. The kitchen had a dishwasher but no soap. The spare trash can liner was too small to fit the trash can and the front office refused to give us one that would fit, saying the larger bags were just for their own trash cans in the office. The \"complimentary breakfast\" was instant oatmeal packets and coffee with non-dairy creamer. However, all that being said, the location was awfully convenient and very few places seem to offer a kitchen with a stovetop as well as a full-size refrigerator and microwave, and the price was good. So, in spite of it being less than inspiring, we probably will be staying there again.

The rooms to be updated and cleaned better, the property needs cleaned itself, they advertise breakfast. Breakfast however, it only consisted of pre-packaged granola bars or muffins and coffee. Residents were allowed to have pets which is fine but they were on every floor instead of limited to a floor or two. We notified the desk clerk that our TV was not working and he didn't do anything about it. So we worked out TV for a day and a half. I myself would not recommend this facility to anyone.

The staff member would not give me any information about the hotel or room. I said that i needed a step in shower. He said check in and then I could go to my room to see if was satisfactory. I had a tub shower and the room looked beat up. I told the clerk that the room was not what I needed. He said, \" I only hand out the room key cards and could not change my room. I asked to have my check in reversed because I had not taken advantage of what the place offered. H said a refine was impossible. I left and found another hotel/motel.

The lady who checked me in was Rude. Staff over all was rude. At a glance it appeared clean until I checked in and looked more closely. There was crud on the floor around the tub. Floor left my clean white socks disgusting dark brown. Staff doesn’t care. Several permanent residence and they treat everyone like a problem long term resident. Last night there I found a cockroach running across the bathroom floor. I hope I didn’t bring any unwanted guest home with me! I will never stay here again!!

This place is rated at two stars and boy does it show. There were scuff marks on the counters and missing chunks of leather from the chair. The AC didn’t work and I had to be moved to another room. The next room I was moved into had a television that only displayed in the color, purple and lights, which flickered continuously. The Wi-Fi brought me back to the days of dial up in terms of speed, and the sheets were thin paper. nonetheless, it cost me over $200 a night because it was October and I wanted to be near Salem. there is luckily a Walmart literally next-door that you can walk to in about a minute. everyone staying at the hotel was friendly and one desk worker was friendly while another showed extreme attitude for no reason. At one point, the card key access to my door just stopped working for no reason and we had to get new cards. Stay here if you’re desperate and you wanna be near Salem because you won’t get bedbugs, and it’s basically clean.

I had a truly unreal experience. I’m an avid traveler and have stayed in hostels, hotels etc etc. of many kinds. I’m not super picky, but this really floored me. The conditions at this hotel were abysmal. The staff were unable (unwilling?) to change my room. I paid over $245 and forced to stay in a room in terrible condition. They did issue a refund after I worked with Hotels.com, but it didn’t change how uncomfortable the stay was for my partner and I.

This was perhaps the worst hotel experience I have had. Check-in took 30 minutes due to a long line and some issue with the software. Our room smelled atrocious. There was pet hair on the floor and garbage from the last guest. The real kicker was when I went to take a shower in the morning the shower was broken. Not a drop of water came out. The front desk staff assured me the manager would call to reimburse our stay but I have heard nothing. Please don’t stay here.

We had a wedding at 4:30 to get to, but we had not other choice but to wait. The key cards were not working, omg this hotel is disgusting. The prior reviews were right, the hallways stunk sooooo bad. Checked in late with one expecting a clean bed and a shower to freshen up after a long day on to find feces on the outside of the toilet, dirty floors (I had to throw my socks away), hairs in between the sheets as though they’ve been used and hadn’t been changed for a while hairs in the bathroom on the sink and the pillows. Something smeared over the TV which did not work due to being “off line” even though the promise of “staying connected” was advertised, no WiFi for our phones also. It was discussing, I most threw up using the bathroom. There is no care in cleanliness here.

The entire facility smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke, even though everything was supposed to be non-smoking. There were what appeared to be indigent people standing just outside the door, smoking cigarettes, and dope. Our room was a suite, with a couch that had been destroyed by someone’s animals.. After seeing that, I went back down to the front desk and told the guy so we wouldn’t be accused of it. His reply was “all the rooms are like that“.
There were no kitchen amenities in the room. Fair enough on that, But they’re also wasn’t a coffee maker. Going back to the front desk I asked for a pot so that we could boil water to make coffee. And I had to wait for someone to clean a pot.
This is the worst experience I’ve had and I am a frequent traveler.

The property pictures are extremely deceptive. The room was filthy and the air conditioner vents had mold and blow out air that smelled like smoke. The walls are thin and I heard noises all not long. People hung out in front of the property while staring guests as they walk into the hotel. Very scary and unsettling. Never again!

Great priced hotel for our Salem weekend trip. About 20 minutes from Salem itself. Great location overall with a walmart next door and plenty of restaurant options within 5 minutes. Not the cleaned place i’ve stayed, had some bugs in our room as well as an old soap bar sitting on top of the shower rim from previous guests. Room came with fridge, stove top, microwave, etc. Staff was helpful throughout our stay. Would recommend for a short busy weekend.

My stay was not great. The room seemed clean enough but very rundown - the upholstery on the desk chair was mostly peeled off, the chair near the bed was covered with a poorly fitted cover that looked to be meant for a much larger chair and was also in rough condition. The towels were dingy and worn but again, they seemed clean. The pillows were flat and uncomfortable. The \"blanket\" was the thickness of a sheet.

Our experience started bad and ended horribly. Should have known it would be dirty when we walked up and there was dog poop all over the walkway. Front desk was not friendly at all. Made it up to our room which was FILTHY. Wet dirty towels , horrendous smell, creepy hairs on the bad and a dirty chair filled with crumbs. We instantly booked a room across the street and went downstairs to check out. Waited about twenty minutes to talk to the front desk person who did not seem to care at all. She was completely unapologetic about the state of our room , not offering to try and make it right at all. We asked about how to get our money back and she was very cavalier informing us to call and say we didn't stay there. After we checked into our other hotel we tried to call three times and no one answered .

It was absolutely disgusting. The floors were sticky. The outside of the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. The air conditioner was caked with dirt. The room smelled like cigarettes, and a dog was barking across the hall all night. The blankets and sheets were paper thin. The bed felt like lumpy concrete. I would sleep in my car before I'd stay here again. Not to mention they charged my card for $200 when i paid for the trip online and now have to wait 3-5 days to get my money back. Worst Extended Stay I have ever stayed at. Manager was very dismissive about the issues we raised. Stay here at your own peril.
