It had a lovely homely and friendly Atmosphere and the owners obviously take pride in the hotel. The hotel was spotless, breakfast had a wide variety of food, drinks and continental breakfast.
The rooms were spacious, well maintained and fabulous to have a balcony overlooking their lovely garden. Ample free parking was a bonus as was a short walk into the quaint town.

Difficult to get to, inflexible check in times
Unfortunately I didn't actually get to stay, as I had arrived earlier in the day and the front door was locked. Check in was at 15:00 in the afternoon but I had figured I could at least leave luggage at the front desk before proceeding to work.
The neighborhood is very quiet and clean. As of November 2017 the major road leading to the hotel was completely under renovation (no sidewalk either), so you have to take a massive detour to get there. I personally walked from the train station, and it is a good 30-45 minute walk up and down hill (doable, but still very far). Eventually I had to opt for another hotel nearby that had a front desk that worked around the clock.

Great hidden gem.
Can't say enough about this unexpected gem. The rooms were simple, but quiet and comfortable, and the breakfast spread was great. Above all, the managers were very warm and accommodating. It was our surprise favorite stay of the trip.

Pension Wasserwerk was a great find for us. My wife and I were here for two days after a work meeting in nearby Netherlands. The hosts were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful in getting us settled. It's easy to tell that the hosts have a lot invested in keeping guests happy, and the facilities in top notch condition. Our room was large, with an equipped kitchenette, seating area, large windows, and a view of their wonderful garden area. Our room also had view of the fabulous castle in Bad Bentheim, which was barely a 15 minute walk away. Bad Bentheim is a beautiful, clean little town, fairly quiet in mid-April but a nice spot for a day or two of sightseeing (castle, spa, forest). The pension is in a very nice residential neighbourhood, only a short walk to grocery stores and the small town center. The town itself is on the side of a fairly steep hill, so this makes it even more scenic.
Certainly one of the highlights for us (after the castle and thermal pool) was breakfast offered in the pension. It is a bright and cheery venue with windows to the garden and neighbourhood, and is organized such that meeting other guests is easy to do. The available breakfast items were very good.

Frühstück war super. Ausreichend an Auswahl zur Verfügung. Ich hatte bei der Reservierung vergessen anzugeben das ich Diabetikerin bin, konnte mich aber trotz allem satt essen. Den Rest des Gebäudes fand ich einfach passend und gemütlich eingerichtet. Der alte Schrank im Speisesaal einfach wunderschön.
Für mich war das Problem, das ich nicht auf die Zimmerbeschreibung geachtet habe und somit mir nicht bewusst war, dass dort Teppich ausgelegt ist. Was für meine Allergie nicht Vorteil Haft war. Jedoch muss ich sagen, dass der Teppich wirklich gut abgesaugt war. Mit meinen Allergie Tabletten war das daher gut zu bewältigen.
Die Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich und hatte für jeden ein passendes und liebes Wort übrig. Sie war sehr bemüht jedem Gast seinen Wunsch zu erfüllen. Kinder wurden da sehr liebevoll behandelt. Alles im allen, sehr empfehlenswert. Man bedenke, über Geschmack lässt sich bekanntlich erweise streiten.

Die Pension \"Altes Wasserwerk\" wird liebevoll geführt. Zimmer sind sauber und sehr ruhig. Die Innenstadt und die Burg erreicht man in einem kurzen Fussweg. Es gibt einen kleinen Aufenthaltsraum, mit einem grossen Gästekühlschrank und Kaffee (1€) oder Tee (gratis). Beim Frühstück gibt es regionale Produkte wie z.B. den Honig aus dem Umland, schöner wären dann noch frische Brötchen vom örtlichen Bäcker.

We werden hartelijk ontvangen en kregen de mogelijkheid om onze fietsen binnen te stallen, sleutels kregen we mee en een uitleg in het Duits/Nederlands. Handig als je duits niet helemaal goed is, dan begrijp je het alsnog. Er is een speciaal ontbijt verzorgd ivm allergie, dit zag er netjes uit en was keurig geregeld. We kregen nog wat tips mee. Voor een hotelkamer was dit enorm, het was meer een appartement dan een kamer. Hele fijne verassing als je een kamer verwacht. We wilden weer boeken, maar helaas zitten ze al vol :-)

Insgesamt gesehen ist der Preis für diese Leistung gerechtfertigt. Kein Luxus, was man bei diesem Preis auch auf keinen Fall erwarten kann, man muss schon dem Preis angemessen hier und da Abstriche machen. Dafür trifft man aber auf freundliches Personal, die Zimmer sind sauber, das Frühstück überschauber aber gut. Ruhige Lage, in wenigen Minuten ist man zu Fuß im Zentrum.
