We stayed over the Christmas period and had a balcony room. This was the most magical experience. Laying in bed listening to the carols, bells, people laughing. The view was amazing. The property is old as most building in Europe but all amenities were great. Couldn’t fault besides from limited access to taxis and no Ubers in the area. Roads also get closed during Christmas market periods. Plan ahead and don’t make the mistake like us as we almost missed our train due to not having car transportation close by. Plenty of tram options if you can navigate and shopping centre across the street!

Poor hotel We paid for a suite. 2 very large rooms. Almost no furniture . 2 giant empty rooms
The bedroom has no furniture - no chairs nothing to put clothes on. The other room has a leather/ plastic couch from the 1950’s
TV wasn’t connected and had no signal. Heating didn’t work and they had to re-program the system. Breakfast not included and they kept trying to sell us breakfast.
Check in time was 3pm and they made us wait. We came back at 2:50’and were told to wait 10 minutes.

I was travelling with a friend - we booked a family room so that we each had a bed. Unfortunately there was no door to the shower.. which seems odd for a family room! What if we were a family travelling with teenagers? The beds were also not very comfortable. The staff at the desk were super nice, and great location.

Right on the plaza for Dresden Christmas market. Courteous staff. Not exactly wheelchair or disable friendly building, but I can see where they have made changes to make it so. Good breakfast. Discounted parking for the garage. Overall, a comfortable stay.

Location was perfect . The rooms design was strange a room with 2 queen beds but the shower didn't had a door , so if you are not really close family or friends it is not nice to have a open shower. also the cushions were not comfortable

Hotel in the middle of this city. This is the main reason I have chosen to stay. Clean, city view from my window.
BUT I don't have towels in the room. Not, even one. Big question. There's no phone to call front desk. I was so tired that took a shower and put on my pajama on a wet body😂

Very convenient property located right on the square. Room size is larger than others we have had in our stays in Europe. However, bed and pillows are not that comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful - lots of good options. Great option if convenience is a driving factor in where you stay.

I stayed 3 nights. The location of Star G was excellent - walking distance to Dresden highlights, the river, and shops, cafes and dining options. The room was clean and spacious and I liked the fact that windows opened for fresh air.
However my room faced the clock/bell tower and although I generally like the sound of church bells in Europe, the chimes were intrusive, continuing until midnight.

Hotel located right on the central square. Central and easy to reach everywhere we needed, especially as the main Tram stop was right outside the doors.
Check-in quick and easy. Staff on desk helpful. Room was located right next to the lift which I was worried about, but we didn't hear it at all over our 5 night stay.
Room clean and comfortable. There was a coffee pod machine with 1 free pod each per stay - as non-coffee drinkers we requested a kettle which was provided for the duration of our stay, just as well I took my own tea bags - also no sugar or milk/creamer was provided. There was an in room chiller- not quite a fridge. Bathroom was compact but well equipped and shower ran very well.
Breakfast was well run and re-stocked items very efficiently. Good selection of fresh fruit and pancakes made me very happy! No \"normal\" tea bags provided - all herbal or fruit based, or coffees. There was hot chocolate available at breakfast too.
My complaint is that the parking for the hotel is part of the general city parking system underneath the main square. Although a slight discount was offered as being a resident, it was still 20 euros per night - I had read the information on their page as the cost per night would be what they reduced the price by. We ended up moving our car to a park and ride car park (free) and using the trams while in the city instead. The car park being under the main square also made it more difficult to get cases to the hotel.

Visiting Dresden? Then this hotel is located within a few minutes walking distance from all the main Altstadt attractions. A great city, super friendly people, fantastic public transport. My only regret is that I wasn't able to stay there longer.

Perfect location, right by one of the squares, but no street noise.
Very good sized room and bathroom.
Friendly staff.
Fridge , but no kettle for tea.
Drinks dispenser for when the bar is closed.
Old plaster “band aid” on bed frame and spilt coffee that had not been cleaned up on desk, but otherwise clean.

I will start with the good points: this hotel is clean and spacious and has lovely staff. The room was comfortable and had all I needed.
But overall it felt bland a bit dated, nothing special that stood out and it was quite pricey, so not great value for money overall.
A safe choice, but not a memorable one.

The hotel's location is very convenient and close to the main sights. The staff was friendly and helpful. But the furnishings/interiors were drab and made the hotel somewhat uninviting, and the single room I stayed in was tiny. (Everything looked better in the pictures!) And can't help but mention the Wi-Fi was very slow.

Ac barely works at all and doesn’t let you set a temperature. It’s just a dial that goes from 1-3. Like a fan. Room lacked outlets and the breakfast was not worth anywhere nearly $20 euros a day.

Checked out multiple days early and they wouldn’t work with me on a refund—which sure, I suppose that’s policy but it would have gone a long way in my thoughts towards this hotel.

No idea why this was rated so high. Stay away.

No Door on Room with Shower? Odd.

Nice location, fair rate, but the family rooms had no door on the room with the shower - just a sliver of a pane of glass, so no one could shower privately. Very Odd!

Building is set up in a bizarre way. Confusing and long walk back to the room. We booked a suite which was extremely depressingly dark. (They had to give us a new room, due to the fact that there was excrement still in the toilet of the original room.) Bathroom was a very awkward set up, with zero chance for any privacy. Staff was rude and many spoke zero English (at least pretended not to).

The hotel is very well located in the touristic heart of Dresden
The room assigned was big and comfortable, oriented to the internal yard of the block
The bad experience was around cleaning service, it did not happen, apparently some internal misunderstanding/ lack of control on the employees delivering it. Manager quickly reacted offering fresh towels, soap, paper and even some courtesy card for the bar.

Fabulous location, in Altstadt, all sites walkable and public transportation is right across the street. Spacious room, plenty of closet and drawer space, nice bathroom. The heating-cooling control is a little difficult to figure out: you can only go 3 degrees Celsius cooler or warmer than the hotel’s preset, whatever that happens to be! Our room was cold upon arrival but had warmed up when we came back for the night. Definitely a minor issue, highly recommend the hotel.

Overall and for the price it was a good deal
I'm hoping they do more in regards to my room for instance. Yes it was brand spanking new, clean all that. But the room seemed unfinished. A few pieces of something for the walls and a few additional pieces of furniture would make it welcoming. The bathroom, I was put off by the broom on the wall ( I know what it was for ) and that white chair near the sink. And all the pull down railings around the toilet. Those two points gave the idea it was for an old age home.
Also, the mini frig was not working. I did tell the night staff about it. Finally the hallways are borderline spooky dull colors not great lighting. .
It seems like the renovations are still in progress.

The rooms are very spacious and comfortable but the heating was too hot. Also they only provided 1 large towel per person, there were no hand towels.

They provided one bottle of water free of charge, it would have been nice one bottle per guest. Also they should either provide more coffee capsules or the option to buy more.

Three star property right in town and overlooking the square and Dresden Christmas markets. However the hotel was lacking and provided limited to no amenities within the room.

As a Expedia VIP Gold member was entitled to a welcome drink. However staff insisted that this is the single bottle of water and coffee capsule within the room.

Location, location, location!

This hotel is in the heart of old town. The Christmas markets were just starting to be set up and it was right outside the hotel. The room was large and very comfortable. I booked 2 extra large twins and was surprised with 2 king beds. Privacy was a bit of a factor as I was travelling with a friend. The toilet and the shower had their own little rooms but the shower had no door. Sink and shower wide open. Everything is very walkable from this location. I would definitely stay here again for it’s convenience with the city.

Overall was very nice, they let me keep the luggages before check in.
The only thing I don't like is the heating system. There is no way the change the room temperature so the room is cold even the heater is on. Maybe because the heat is expensive, but i was really cold when we are in the room.

Great, except for poor wifi

Very comfortable and quiet room in a great location. Wonderful breakfast selection, especially the fresh fruit.
Only negative was the terrible wifi - weak signal that would frequently cut out or not connect at all. It made our travel planning very difficult.

About 10-15 minutes walk from the main train station and close to everything else once at the hotel. We were on the 2nd floor in a standard room. The king bed only had 2 very thin pillows and a queen size comforter to share (staff supplied extra pillows when asked). We overlooked the back area which was quite loud with trucks and restaurant staff both in the evenings and early mornings, even with the windows closed.

We loved the location of the hotel.
We were surprised to see that the staff had limited language skills, so it was hard to communicate, and their attitude was poor and did not care much about customer service.
After 3 AM it was hard to sleep due to trucks and workers being loud in a courtyard which echo'd inside our room. For the price of almost $200 a night we were expecting much more from a four star hotel. I would give it a two star and we wouldn't stay there again.

I very much disliked the room. It was laid out very strangely and was horribly uncomfortable . The hotel was laid out very oddly too. The front desk staff was nice enough but acted like I was crazy when I asked for more pillows (one hard pillow provided per guest). The bed was possibly the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced. No door on the shower or bathroom area was dumb. The location cannot be beat.

Very clean, conveniently located hotel. Tram stop steps outside of entrance. My room on the 6th floor was quite large. Strong wifi signal. Good a/c.convenient refrigerator. As others have mentioned, no microwave.
Bed was somewhat hard and uncomfortable. Frosted glass door to toilet, no door on shower area. So not a lot of privacy in that regard.
