Great hotel

The location of the hotel was great - very central and easy to get to. There was a christmas market right outside the entrance, as well as being super close to the main Christmas market. Lovely place. Would definitely return.

Great Hotel

Front desk was very helpful. Hotel is located on a large plaza near Frauenkirke and about a 30 minute walk from the train station. Info office is located in the basement of building directly across from the hotel. Elbe is a short walk away and parking for the hotel is in the garage below the hotel.

Nice Hotel directly in the center of Dresden

The Hotel is really in the center of Dresden. The famous church \"Frauenkirche\" is just around the corner. Perfect location for a city trip. One elevator was not working at the time of the stay. Therefore only one elevator was available for the guests. Water bottles from roomservice are overprized.

The hotel was in the center of old town near the Frauenkirche, and many fine restaurants. It was also walking distance to the Zwinger, and the large shopping mall called Altmart Galerie. the hotel is about ten minutes taxi ride from the Bahnhof. Our room was clean and spacious. We chose the Superior double room which had a refrigerator, and hot water kettle for coffee and tea.

However, we were underwhelmed by the room overall. It did not represent what we expected from a 5 star hotel. We had dust all over the surfaces, a ripped bed sheet, and no robe or slippers (however we received them quickly once requested). The bed was rather small and uncomfortable. And while not the hotels fault, it was very noisy if you opened the window but closed window meant stuffy room with no air circulation.

A perfect one night stay for our visit to the Dresden Christmas Market. The hotel is in a great location, across from the Frauenkirche. We enjoyed the friendly service, large modern room, complimentary snacks, and full breakfast. The hotel lobby is impressive, making the experience special from the moment we entered. Great location and luxy that wont break the bank

Amazing ultra-modern room, in the center of town with a view of the church and square. Luxurious buffet breakfast. Huge TV in the room. Great location near restaurants and sightseeing.
The one thing to look out for is parking. There is a public parking garage under the hotel, with free parking with the room, but we mistakenly parked in a nearby garage (run by same company) without free parking.

Everytime we come to Dresden, we stay at the Steigenberger.
1. Location: The hotel is right in the pedestrian area across the Frauenkirche. During the summer time, they have a sitting area right in front of the hotel where you can enjoy the city life while drinking a cappuccino and eating some delicious cake.
2. Room's: They just renovated their rooms and they look great. The new bathroom has a walk in shower with rain fall shower. Depending on your booking, the room comes with free coffee (Nespresso espresso machine), free snacks and drinks.
Rhere are many other upscale hotels near by, but We prefer the Steigenberger.

Great hotel in a great location!

We loved the hotel, its location, the friendliness of the staff and the breakfast service. The hotel is located in the heart of historic district with easy access to all the sites, many restaurants, train station and river front. We had a bit of an issue with the temperature control in the room, but we resolved it by letting the window open a bit. The staff was very responsive to our needs also. If we are back in this area again, we would definitely stay there!!

The front desk service is amazing, however the room cleaning service is no where close. I came back one night with dirty cups and espresso machine parts nearby sink. I also didn’t get any shampoo replenish for my 6 nights stays! Overall still an amazing place to stay but room service can use some improvement.

Beware hotel guests second class to conference

I was given a room in the attic with tiny window so asked to change as like light and space. This was organised. The hotel had a political convention all the time I was there. It was very clear guests came second. The hotel was cordoned off and I had to show my hotel pass so many times to get thru the cordon. There was no access to lounge or anywhere but my room to sit it was ike being a prisoner. I was once offered a seat in a back corner of the lobby but advised the speeches would be held in the lobby so it would be very noisy. I feel if the conference is this big guests should be advised when booking it certainly wasnt suitable to stay in if on holiday. Reception staff made it clear they didnt want to help gave vacant stares and glared at people asking questions altogether an uncomfortable stay in what became a prison like atmosphere

Best stay in Dresden!

We had a WONDERFUL stay at Steigenberger Hotel de Saxe. Cannot recommend any higher! This hotel was affordable and in the perfect location in the old town (Altstadt) of Dresden. You're right in the heart of the action, and only a 20 minute walk from the train station. Staff were very warm and friendly. We were very surprised and delighted to be upgraded to a bigger room with a view over the square when we checked in. And then even more impressed when we got to our room and found a tray of little snacks and a note wishing us a nice stay, as well as bowls, food and a bed for our dog. The room was very large and comfortable - huge bed, good air conditioning, strong wifi, nice bathroom and great view over the square. Everything was clean and our stay was perfect. Will definitely be staying here again the next time we're in Dresden, and will have to give the breakfast a try next time!

Location, location location! This hotel overlooks a pedestrian plaza with one of Dresden's magnificent cathedrals to one side. It is central to all the sights of the \"Altstadt\", the historic part of the city. The hotel itself has all the amenities, including good-sized rooms and, for an extra fee, a fantastic breakfast buffet (well worth it). Cars must park in the hotel's garage, which is also extra. Better to arrive via mass transit if possible, because once you're there everything is within walking distance in this truly awesome part of Dresden.
