We enjoyed our brief, 2-night stay at the Penck Hotel. The art of AR Penck on display throughout the hotel is worthy of a visit alone. Our room was clean and comfortable with a plush bed and blackout curtains, and great water pressure in the shower. Penck's quiet location offers easy connections to Dresden's main site via convenient and abundant public transit while being outside the city center. Consider including breakfast with your stay; the variety of fresh options is worth the splurge. This was our second stay at the Penck Hotel, and should we find ourselves in Dresden in the future, I have no doubt where we'll stay.

Don’t stay if you want comfort.

They didn’t have a fridge. We couldn’t have anything cold. Their breakfast is a waste of money. The cleaner didn’t really clean. Just made the bed sometimes. Will never come back.

Superb hotel, highly recommended.

The Penck is a really great hotel, the only pity was I only here one night! The room was huge & very comfortable, & the hotel was very well appointed, clean & well-presented. All the staff were friendly & helpful with excellent service. The breakfast was very good too, a great variety of excellent food. If you're happy walking it's only ten minutes from the old town, so was ideal for sightseeing. I would definitely come back again!

Overall, I would stay somewhere else if I were to visit Dresden again.

The hotel's service was lacking. There was no shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in my room. I asked at the front desk if they had any. The bespectacled receptionist opened a drawer under the desk and gave me shampoo and body lotion and said, \"We have no conditioner and body soap. Is it okay?\" It wasn't, so I asked if she could ask the cleaning staff. She called but told me they didn't have any, either. I stayed there for two nights without conditioner and body soap. They didn't even try to bring them to me later, which I found very odd. Not that those things were absolutely necessary, but it was nevertheless inconvenient not to have them.

Rooms: My room at Penck Hotel Dresden was spacious and comfortable. It was adequate, if not outstanding. The small sink countertop was somewhat inconvenient, but it wasn't a big deal.

Walkability: The hotel is pretty close to Dresden Mitte station, which can be convenient when you go out of town by train, but you need to take the local train to HBF or Dresden Neustadt to catch express trains. Somewhere closer to main tourist attractions would probably give you a better experience of Dresden.

Food & drinks: The location of the hotel looked good on the map because of its proximity to Zwinger, but I didn't realize that there were very few dining options around the hotel. There was a substandard Sushi restaurant in front of the hotel, and that's pretty much it. You need

The room was not cleaned after the first night. I only stayed for two nights - so you don't clean for short periods like this? The liquid soap was available in only one place, at the main water sink, but not under the shower. I had to move it between the two places to use it. NO GOOD.
The overall setup of the room is very impractical with poor lighting.
CLOSET SPACE is very small and hidden, not clear how to get to it. I had to swing open the table to get to it.
Otherwise the service was friendly, and the location is great.

Quirky hotel

We stayed here for 1 night as we were visiting Dynamo Dresden for a match. The hotel is a little way from the station but walkable up through the town, there is also a tram that takes you most of the way.
This hotel is very quirky as its designed around an artist I believe but the hotel was very comfortable and clean.
Staff were very friendly and we were able to check in early as we arrived in good time.
The hotel is situated nearer to the old town but is around 10-15 minute walk into the shopping area and around 20-30 min walk from the stadium.
The bar area was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The barman was called Michael Eberle and he made us feel very welcome and was friendly to talk too. Would stay again

Dresden visit

Booked this hotel because friends were staying there. I had a really really nice room and I very much enjoyed its corner location. Breakfast was tasty. And as a special bonus the hop-on-hop-off tourist bus stopped right in front of the hotel. I'd happily stay there again.
(That bus trip is actually really worthwhile for Dresden, especially if you can get a ticket for a couple of days; the ticket includes many additional extras on top of the bus trip)

Hotel is very comfortable. The heat was on high when we got in so it did take some time to cool the room and get the heat turned off but after that, no complaints. Location is easy to get to and park. Beside a tram station and within walking for most things central.

I thought I am getting a good deal when I saw the 4 stars and the 4.0 rating but I was too optimistic. It was still a good deal though. The rooms are noisy and ours had no view. Maybe it was due to the price that guests were shouting in the hallway at 2AM

Everything about the hotel is pretty good, its is close to transportation, and a close walk to lots of good food. The design though if your like me and need to work from the hotel room at times is not good. The provided chair is uncomfortable, and the desk is attached to the closet door on a roller so it moves as you type. The desk is not very big if you need to spread out. The staff and restaurant are good so if you just need a place to spend a few nights, it is not a bad deal.

Fun design to all elements of the hotel interiors. Clean and very quiet neighbourhood, under ten minute walk to the altstadt area and 25 minute walk or a quick tram to the 'newtown' area. Excellent base to explore both sides of beautiful Dresden. Really relaxing stay. Lovely complementary hot drinks in room too.

If you love art works

We were here for 2 comfortable nights. It takes about 10 minutes to get to this hotel using no.11 street car. Upon arrival at the train station we bought 3 days family card for 30 euros. Breakfast was very nice. The bed was kind of soft for us.

Train your staff to be more attentive to customers

Got room changed but was given one facing inside with view of buildings.
Asked for staff to help with public transportation after checking out and was told after the second question that their computers were down even though they were working on it. It wasn't like their were customers waiting either.

Staff was helpdul. The room is far better than i expected (travelled alone but had a queen bed room). Quite close to Zwinger n Semperoper (no trick of cuz). Only problem is the day i check-in，the hotel was kind of break-down (i mean the hotel was full-booking the day before)，so i could not get my room one-time. I got my room around 7pm，but i already reached the hotel in the morning time.

Fantastic hotel in centre of Dresden

We stayed in the art'otel in Dresden as we were meeting family (who stayed in a nearby hotel). The room was fantastic, and we just LOVED the modern spacious design. Our 7-year old daughter was especially excited.
The staff were really helpful and flexible, the room was very big and clean, the bathroom was just amazing, and the price was excellent! (My family stayed very nearby and paid much more for a very tiny room.)
We will definitely be back ;-)

Lovely hotel in central Old Town location

We had a great 4 night stay in the art'otel dresden. Welcomed by polite and friendly staff, who gave us an A4 map of Dresden to help us get around - this was in German but we used it everyday as it was easy to work out what was what. The hotel and rooms were very modern and filled with tons of artwork (a lot of which shows a guy's manhood and may not be suitable for children of a certain age!). The hotel is in a relatively quiet location. We had two rooms - the inner room was very quiet, but trams and garbage trucks could be heard from the street-facing room. The rooms were large & spacious, modern and very clean. The hotel was a five minute walk to the Zwinger (just at the other end of the road) & other Old Town landmarks, and another few minutes walk to the shops, bakeries, restaurants and mall in Old Town. New Town is also a short walk across the river.

Funky hotel near Mitte station

Easy walk to old town and most tourist attractions. Not many eating options just by hotel but more in old town. Convenient to station if you want to use Dresden as a base to visit Leipzig, Meissen etc. Rooms are quiet and of a good size.

On Tues the 12th the crew in the restaurant were terrible.No tables were clean,we had to ask for silverware 2 times and this kid said that \"there are other people ahead of us\".What? He obviously had a bad attitude.Than he was standing around with his hands in his pockets when the tables needed cleaning.Key card did not work(room 426)for our entire stay.2 lights did not work inside the room.The lights on the headboard of the bed are worthless. They are so bright&hot it's almost like a spotlight. I thought my book would start on fire.If you could direct them up to the ceiling that would be OK but, they do not rotate up that far.One more thing,the men's bathroom in the lobby is one of the nastiest bathrooms I have ever seen. That \"post\" that men use is gross.It splatters everywhere (including your shoes) and because of this all you smell is urine as soon as you open the door. You would be much better off if you just put a hole in the floor.The service at the front desk & the bar was very good. They were always friendly and helpful.

This is a lovely hotel located very close to a railway station so the connection to the airport could not have been easier. It is only 5 to 10 minutes walk into the very heart of old Dresden with all its magnificent buildings.

Great stay in Dresden.

We stayed at the Art'Otel in Dresden to spend week visiting our son who is studying there. We arrived at hotel and staff were very friendly / helpful and we were quickly booked in and in our room.
Room was cleaned daily and buffet breakfast was great with good choice of food.
Hotel is very handy for old town/Post Platz, trams & trains. The Mitte Banhof is within 5mins walk and goes straight to airport within 20mins.

The Room Design was for \"Looks\" Not comfort. The table had a \"Door knob\" to serve äs an opener to swing the clothes cabinet Open and thus was an interference with.any paperwork to be done. The Console holding the phone was too small to place a pad for notes. The sink in the bathroom did not have a stopper, wasting water while shaving. The Restaurant had flies while dinner or breakfast was being seeved. The Service personell however was excellent.

Im pretty picky, the room was very clean, and so was the restroom. Looked like an abandon warehouse converted into a hotel. A bit dark, but overall was done well. I only stayed one night, but the hotel was very close bye to the main old town area. Not bad at all. Drinks were a bit pricey, but the bartender loaded them up quite well.

We booked a long weekend in an art room plus. Despite the description on the Expedia site there was no safe in the room. When we queried this with reception we were informed that none of the hotel rooms have a safe. There was only one chair in the room and each of us had only a tiny insufficient pillow. The air-con is somewhat inefficient with only a choice of on (very noisy) or off. Handily located for old town without being slap bang in the middle of it. Room was quiet, bar ok. We did not sample the food or sauna. Although free wi-fi came with the room it was so slow as to be almost useless - strangely enough when logging in to the free Wi-Fi you were given an option to buy faster Wi-Fi - I do not know how much this would have been or what speed.

Chain hotel, good for short stay

Odd arrangement of room with cupboard on a wheel and bathroom with a window through to the bed area. The walls are decorated with rather undistinguished derivative 'art'. But it's clean, comfortable, close to the centre and the reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast at €15 was overpriced and the dining room overcrowded with coach tours. Dinner was perfectly adequate but the dining room was very cold on the evening we are there. However, it's not massively expensive and you get what you pay for in germs of the accommodation. Avoid breakfast.

Interesting, new and convenient experiences await

The design and facilities of the hotel were very interesting and have a very unique quality and appearance to them; from the entrance lobby right through to the design and arrangement of the individual rooms it gives a whole new experience in 'hoteling' The art works , which are spread over all areas, give another original feature - whatever one may think of the the art itself. The breakfast provision and resturant were good, with other eating places nearby, but most being situated in the centre of the city. All the staff at all times were friendly, helpful, professional and efficient, and most spoke English well for we lazy, mono-lingual folk. It did seem to a better location for adults rather than families with young children - which is great by me!
The situation of the hotel is excellent, it being no more than 10/15 minutes steady walk to the main centre of the town's attractions. It is also well served by the local tram, bus and train transports and very convenient for Airport connection.
The whole experience within the hotel was excellent and provided a convenient and comfortable centre for visiting Dresden, for any length of time or reason.

Conference Trip

Our whole staff stayed at this hotel for a conference in Dresden. It is very central to transportation and the old city. Clean, efficient. Small rooms as you would expect in Europe. But a great value.
