A comfortable place to stay

The front desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable. There is no iron or ironing board in the rooms, no coffee maker and no microwave in the rooms.

The staff cared about the guests.

We didn’t like this hotel: very bad musty smell in the room, our bathroom sink soap wasn’t refilled, the bed was uncomfortable, the staff isn’t friendly, and the area around the hotel smells like sewage. They charge 24 euro for parking while there’s a good safe public garage only 4 minutes away where you can park for 6 euro a day.
Breakfast was good but the orange juice was awful. They have only 2 coffee machines that were always missing milk or coffee beans, and had a long line. Nobody came to our table to offer coffee.

Great hotel and location

Walking up was a little hesitant but once inside it’s beautiful! Our room was the size of an apartment! Huge! Living room two bathrooms dining room and large bedroom. Walk out the back door and walk along the river to see the sights. We didn’t have breakfast there but it looked fantastic. Short distance to the tram which will bring you right to the train station.

An absolutely brilliant stay. In town for the Dresden HM the hotel was the perfect location for race day and a bit of sightseeing. We were made to feel very welcome by Vincent upon our arrival. Our room was fantastic. Would definitely stay here again 👍

Easy walking distance to the city centre. The room was clean and comfortable, however we had to request a kettle and cups, as these are not supplied in the room. Bathroom supplies also needed to be requested, if required. The area was safe and quiet. The Hop On Hop Off Bus had a stop at the front of the Hotel which was good. Staff were accommodating and friendly.

The initial booking was a mistake, and correcting the date would unfortunately cost as much as the initial reservation. My partner and I decided to bite the bullet, and visited anyway.

The reception depended a lot on who was on at the day. Sometimes a bit dismissive, others really kind and welcoming.

We dined at the hotels restaurant, and despite being really well taken care of overall, we felt like we were being kicked out, as one hour away from closing, everything was being removed from the buffet, and despite the room being almost empty, we weren't the only couple.

The room itself was quite large, clean, comfortable to work from, good temperature control, comfortable bed, and a very nice bathroom.

What made it less comfortable, was the pounding of whoever was walking upstairs, or on the hallway (we never managed to figure it out). It was disconcerting and surprising that a hotel of this caliber would be so poorly sound proofed.

Waking up with people walking at 7am to go for early breakfast was a really unpleasant experience, and I would advise against anyone in need of real rest to stay over.

The sauna facilities were very pleasant, and the hotel kindly provided us with towels, bathrobes and slippers.

I wish there was more seating in that area, but understand that there isn't so much space. It was very nice to have 2 saunas and one hamam to choose from, that is rare!

Fantastic hotel!

Utterly fantastic! The hotels location is no more than a 5/10 minute walk from the centre, with a wonderful walk along the water front to get there. The city of Dresden is beautiful, with the most amazing architecture. There is a great selection of places to eat and drink. The city is clean with plenty to see and do.
Our room was a great size, beds extremely comfortable, bathroom has everything you need, with a great mirror for anyone wanting to apply their make up. There was a small fridge but we would have liked a kettle and tea and coffee making facilities too.
The hotel has a great, secure, large under ground parking, I believe we paid 24 Euros per day to use it.
The hotel's foyer is very impressive with beautiful chandeliers and comfortable seating. There is a piano bar that opens at 7pm, we didn't go in as we had plans both evenings we were there but there is a alcohol vending machine if you come back late and both the bars are closed, that was very reasonable.
And finally the breakfast. Hands down, the best breakfast I have ever had at a hotel! It was exquisite. The selection was vast, freshly prepared and all delicious! I would stay there again just for this!
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough! Stay here you will love every minute of it!

The hotel was clean and the staff were polite. Breakfast was amazing and the pool was very relaxing. The only thing I didn’t care for were the pillows. They were too soft to the point that they flattened out after using them for 5 minutes. The staff brought me extra pillows but unfortunately that didn’t help. Otherwise, my stay was perfect.

As Americans you have to use a bit more patience in Europe. The pace of life is relaxing more and enjoy. I read reviews that are so demanding because you're American.
The dinner buffet wasn't as extravagant or as many choices as breakfast. The lounge was great food. Good location.

Overall, my family had a pleasant experience at Maritim. The immediate surrounding area is not impressive, but the hotel is just a couple blocks walk to historic Dresden and the back of the hotel leads to a beautiful walkway following the river. There is plenty of parking in the garage, which is located immediately underneath the hotel (unlike the hotel we stayed at in Munich). The hotel is one of the stops for the 'hop on/hop off' bus, which we greatly enjoyed. We requested adjoining rooms; this did not happen but our rooms were on the same floor. I will also mention that the pillows were too soft; however, I did not call the front desk to see if there were other options for pillows. I would definitely stay again (but bring my own pillow) as the price of this hotel is excellent for the close location to historic Dresden.

Wonderful stay. Large room that was very quiet. Airtight windows and top quality features. Comfortable furniture. The breakfast buffet was great. Staff was helpful and friendly. Situate right on the bike path - bikes at the hotel that you can rent - very bike friendly city. Amazing city that has been rebuilt. Nice that it is a little out of the main drag. It is quiet - can sit and watch the river and look at the beautiful buildings across town that are lit up at night. There was a big festival the last night with loud rock music but at 10:00PM the music stopped and it quieted right down.

The hotel itself is fine, apart from a few issues with an ‘organic’ smell in the room when we returned in the evening and lifts that seem to have a mind of their own!
My main issue was being ignored by the bar staff as I waited at the bar- it may well have been waiter service only, but they could have spoken up instead of blanking the large English gentleman!!

Large, modern hotel situated next to the Dresden Congress Center above the bank of the Elbe river and a seven-minute walk to the Semper Opera House. All rooms appeared to be large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast buffet offered a range of selections from fruit, bread, cheese, jams and yogurt to eggs, waffles, meats and vegetables.

We had a problem with wake-up calls. The first morning, we received a call at midnight and another at 8AM (requested time). The second morning, we did not receive our requested wake up call. The third morning, we received our wake-up call fifteen minutes late.

You will enjoy your stay at the Hotel Maritim. Bring your own alarm clock.

Beautiful hotel.

We paid for a superior room and it was worth it for the river view. The beds are very comfortable and you can choose different types of pillow. The rooms are very spacious and are beautifully furnished. It is very quiet. There are lots of lights/lamps and sockets in useful places. Reception staff were very helpful. The pool was lovely but very popular. We did not have breakfast in the hotel but the dinner menus looked very reasonable.

Confortable Hotel Near Histórico Center

Very celan and comfortable. Although it is not in the middle of historic center like other alternatives we found it very conveniently located. Everything was within waking distance. Especially Zwinger palace is a few minutes away. Actually, we arrived to Dresden central station and walked to the hotel although we were not carrying heavy luggage.
Hotel staff very friendly. Claudia speaks four languages including Spanish.

Older property - and still stuck in the past. This place caters to retirees that are bused in from other cities. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but nothing special. Service was adequate, except we wanted to sit in the open lobby and have a beer, but they stop serving at 6pm. 6pm? seriously?
Restaurant is completely empty at night - but 1 look at the menu tells you why.

Good location

Comfortable hotel, with helpful staff and in a very good position for the historic parts of Dresden. The room was huge, with a sitting area - only thing missing was tea & coffee making facilities. A gentle stroll along the river bank and we were in the heart of the old town with all its museums, cafes and restaurants.

We are a family of 4 who stayed in Maritim hotel in our 2 week long vacation in Germany and Czech republic. I have to say that of all the places we stayed at, this was definitely the best- right from the ambience of the hotel as one enters it for the first time to the views from the room (we had the junior suite for us) and the comfort in the room itself. The breakfast, though not included in the rate, was not significantly overpriced, and sumptuous. my kids liked the honey delivered straight from the beehive! overall a great stay and wish we could have spent more time there.

Nice hotel, but difficult to stay at with jet lag - no other shops of cafes close by, no ability to make tea/coffee in the room, high price breakfast - have to get full buffet or nothing, no option just get e.g. coffee & croissant at a lower cost. Nice, but not practical.

Good place to stay

This is a convention hotel however it fully caters to families and tourists. The restursant was excellent. The staff helpful and multi lingual. The rooms large particularly by EU standards. The only issue we had was no kettle or toaster in the room. It is very close to city centre (approx 7 minute riverfont walk). Very comfortable. Cheap car parking compared to other hotels. We would stay here again and highly recommend it. It was quite family friendly as well. The hop on/hop off tourist bus has a stop just o outside hotel (on opposite side of road). Good value hotel. Very comfortable.

Great discovery in Dresden

I had not been in Dresden for 20 years. The city has changed quite a lot. The Maritime belongs to these recent additions to the city landscape. What a great hotel for a great city. We enjoyed tremendously our stay. Upon arrival, we chosed an upgrade to have a view on the Elbe. It was worth the investment. The room was large and accomodated all the luggage we carried. If any downside, the breakfast offered is an extensive and fairly expensive buffet. The staff has no flexibility to offer a continental buffet or a la carte breakfast.

The only negative thing for me was the breakfast: the only option was the buffet, which was quite expensive at 21 Euros. It was an excellent breakfast, but the lack of options was a bit annoying. Otherwise, this is a great place, very nice staff, calm and clean.

Superb hotel and staff

Location was just a 10 minute walk into the center of major sites. Hotel was elegant, and pool was a plus. Lobby shop personnel acted as advisors for plays, concerts and tours, and all staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again, as I liked the staff, the location, the room, and using the pool at the end of the day.

I did not purchase the 19 euro breakfast, nor the 24 euro dinner buffet, because they seemed a little pricey, but many guests enjoyed this offer.

I found Dresden itself to be very enjoyable, with much to see and do. People everywhere were friendly, although the history of the city has been tragic.

Beautiful hotel on the banks of Elbe

The hotel is beautiful and very close to all the major tourist attractions in the city of Dresden. The staff is very helpful and co-operative. The hotel is even close to all shopping centers and very well connected to the airport through trams which are just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

Quick trip to Dresden

Took a \"day trip\" to Dresden and at the last minute chose the Maritim Hotel for an overnight stay. I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room (American-sized) - this is highly uncommon for Europe. The room was clean, the bathroom was nice (also big-American style)... glass elevators and a large lobby area. It was a little eerily quiet at the hotel, however, it might be that this is a convention hotel, as opposed to a \"tourist\" hotel. The staff was friendly and pleasant, and the parking underneath the hotel was also great. The hotel is about a 5-8 minute walk to the main square, but is definitely worth the stay!

Great location to old town Dresden, behind the Opera House. Extremely clean. Fantastic front desk service.
Only negative was he bed. It seemed older, having no support for the back.

Great experience. The breakfast, although expensive, is absoultey the best most extensive breakfast to be found anywhere. Great customer service, very friendly around the clock. Language was important to me as a non-German speaking foreigner: everyone at this hotel is fluent in Eglish, some spoke it even better than I!

Great location is your visit it to see the historical old town. Everything is within a few minutes walking distance and the views, day or night, are great. Right near the river and a good place to be!

Maritim Dresden Review

Hotel staff were very friendly and polite. I used to travel to Bavaria a lot and was always unhappy with the attitude of service people there. The staff od this hotel and in general Dresden people in former east Germany came as a pleasant surprise to me.

This hotel is relatively expensive but right next door to convention center where I was attending an event. As such, I consider the convenience factor to be the justification.
