I had an amazing stay – the facility was great, clean, very spacious and the hotel itself is in a brilliant location. I wish I could’ve stayed for breakfast but had no time.but what really made this stay great was “Lena Haustein ( very hospitable and friendly) and Marc Steir at reception, both these staff deserve a big raise. From the moment I arrived, Lena and Marc were genuinely welcoming and went out of their way to helped with landmarks and where else to be.
Would definitely recommend and stay there again.

Super convenient location, close to everything there is to see and do. Loads of cafes, restaurants and shopping. It’s also super close to the train station as well. we enjoyed our stay here, the only issue we had was that the bed was a bit uncomfortable.

Really excellent all round and even though there was a building site over the road the soundproofing meant very little noise got through. A little bit hot, too but the windows open fully if needed.
I would recommend you get a good map though as the streets surrounding it are a bit of a maze and you will probably get lost and end up going the wrong way a LOT.

Still Coming Out From Behind the Iron Curtain

Exceedingly low toilet and a perilously high step into and out of the tub to shower. We're in our 70's and it simply felt unsafe. Also, the room service and restaurant were nowhere close to five star. Contact with room service was dicey and needlessly complex, and the restaurant had very limited choices.

The location is good that you can go to sighting seeing point in just 5 min walk. Various transport option nearby and you can go to major attraction easily.
Breakfast is good and decent
But bear in mind that some premium room may only has a small window that the room is relatively dark. And room in 3/f is the roof so that you may feel the room a bit smaller.

A bad choice for us to stay here, very small room.

Bad, just bad, we paid more and expected much more than one of the smallest rooms we ever stayed in, felt like a coffin, some features in the pool were not working and there was no water in the dispenser. First time in my life when I was refused a whisky after 23.00 in a (so called) 5 star hotel. Long walk from the room to reception and we had the luck of both access cards not to work at the door. Parking is not theirs, they will park your car in the public parking in the city so after you leace it with them...hard to get accesa to it. The entrance was a building site, not what we expected at all.

Another Fabulous Stay

This was our third visit to this hotel in 6 years, staying there for 3 nights on this occasion. It is nothing short of superb in every way. The staff are helpful and friendly, the hotel is beautiful both inside and out, and the rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. We had breakfast each day which was varied and good quality. The hotel is in the old town and is walkable from the main railway station, or 3 stops on what is an excellent tram system. It is close to many bars and restaurants, and the main shopping area. It is easily accessible to all the main parts of this beautiful city. It is remarkable value for its quality and I would not just recommend, this genuinely 5 star hotel, I would urge people to visit.

In advance of arriving the staff was extremely helpful in answering all our questions and in helping us with plans for attrending an outside event. The breakfasts were delightful with the exception of omelets which were not edible, the only negative the whole stay. Set in a stunning and stylish historic building, the Gewandhaus offers spacious and comfortable accommodation. Picture show view from Room 213. Centrally located next to the Rathaus, the main sights, plus restaurants and shops, are within easy walking distance. A splendid buffet breakfast is offered to guests. My only criticism is that, despite the hotel’s advocating the conservation of water, the bathroom had a ridiculously huge spa bath with a very high ledge, which made it difficult to step over to use the overhead shower,

Dedicated surface car park opposite hotel. Well located for most sights and waterfront. Hotel has a luxury feel about it. Our room was well appointed but located on the top \"attic\" floor which meant a sloping ceiling and small window. We enjoyed a fantastic meal in the hotel restaurant one evening with possibly the best steaks we have ever eaten but at a price!

A beautiful hotel perfectly located with a lot of the touristy spots within a quick walk. The staff was fantastic, answering all our questions and lending umbrellas to guests as it had been raining when we arrived. Beautifully furnished and clean rooms.

The only downsides is that the temperature can't be changed in the room, but that seems to be a rather common issue and during our stay wasn't an issue once we opened up the window.

An historic modernized hotel

The hotel was very beautiful. It was the weaving house for textiles in the old days. My room was not ready, but the front desk arranged for a cappuccino on them while I waited for the room to be finished. It was spacious, modern and well appointed. It had a huge jacuzzi tub with a shower. My room had a courtyard facing balcony that was accessible. The hotel was 2 short blocks from the Christmas Market or Striezelmarkt. The parking lot was outdoors but immediately in front of the hotel, almost unheard of in Germany.

Good stay in Dresden

We stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago and were very impressed. This time we stayed on the third floor in a unique room on the 3rd floor in the middle of the front of the building, which was spacious and well-furnished. It will be a kilometer from the railway station but is easily accessed by tram or just by walking. The reception area had been reconfigured since our previous visit to a good standard as was the remainder of the ground floor. The staff were pleasant and efficient. The only thing that downgrades our stay on this visit is that there was a fire alarm on our final night about midnight. When we got downstairs nobody told us anything about what was happening, a false alarm mercifully, and people were allowed to linger in reception and beyond, taking the obligatory photos to impress their friends no doubt on social media. This appears a ridiculously dangerous scenario potentially. The staff may have been aware that there was not an issue but surely communication should have been better and the full fire alarm procedure adopted with customers moved to a safe distance from the hotel. Also one of the door handles had fallen of one of the doors leading from floor 2 to the stairwell. This prevented some people from getting back to their rooms after the all-clear had been given but could have been incredibly dangerous if it had fallen off from the other side. Dresden is still a great city and I would stay at the Gewandhaus again.

Excellent hotel in Dresden old town

We arrived early and although they would have kindly let us check in early if possible, the room was not yet ready so we left our bags and went out for the day. Check in was very quick and easy. In the evening they called us a taxi which came quickly and lent us an umbrella as it was poor weather.

Breakfast in the room was only 5€ extra and well worth doing. Check out was also very fast and we again left luggage for the afternoon before leaving the city. Really pleasant staff at every point, would definitely stay there again.

Lovely hotel

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in. The building is fabulous, as are the staff. We had a large room , beautifully furnished. The hotel staff arranged for us to have a private walking tour of Dresden with a local guide, which they arranged for us at very short notice. The guide had been a resident of Dresden all his life and made the history of the city come to life, great experience.

Very central location - convenient for the River and the Old Town - all within a short walk. Unusual hotel layout, with a central atrium, with the rooms (very comfortable) off the corridors which overlook the atrium.

The hotel is within walking distance of the major sights.If it rains,it is adviseable nevertheless to borrow a hotel umbrella and take a taxi.Taxi rates are reasonable.The hotel staff is efficient and friendly The swimming pool is fine if you are the only one swimming! Radison Blue Gewandhouse - February 2013

The hotel is located in a former palace (mansion), has historic charm and modern features.
We booked regular (not business class) room; the room was very spacious, with an alcove and a window that could be open, so we always had fresh air in the room. The king bed was comfortable; large closet had enough room for all items we had with us. The bar had regular items and was not outrageously priced. Flat TV was on the larger side by European measures, and had many programs in various languages, including several English language programs.
The outstanging feature of the room was the bathroom. Extremely spacious, dressed in marble, it had a huge jacuzzy for two and regulated heater.
The hotel is located two blocks from the market plaza, few blocks from the historical center of the city, walking distance (no more than 10 minutes walk) from any regular tourist destinations and shopping malls, and multiple clusters of restaurants. Tram, bus, and hop-on-hop-off stops are front of the hotel.
Continental breakfast was not included; it was excellent and diverse, but pricy (22 euros per person).
Pool is of a regular hotel's size, with water on a cold side; sauna is regular.
Staff is knowledgable, respectful, and helpful. There were no problems communicating in English, and all our requests were promptly satisfied.
Price for the room was very reasonable considering level of service and location.
I liked the room very much, got kudos from my wife, will stay there again when in Dresden, and recommend it.

Sleeping in a construction site!

There to celebrate my girlfriends birthday.
When we came there was a big construction site outside. We went for a consert late in the evening and wanted to sleep in a bit. 8 aclock in the morning the where cutting stones outside our window.

I contacted them afterwards and raised my concerns and got the reply that this was unfortunate because if we only had told them they had avaleble room in the other side of the hotel and we would not khans to sleep in a construction site.

I asked for a compensation but they just made a mockery out of that to.

I would recommend you to take you chances some other place.

We receiveed a specific mail telling us of car service, but it was not provided when we got there. Instead we had to manage the difficult parking situation ourselves, not even knowing the town.
We decided not to have housekeeping for saving the environment, but this was not deducted from our bill.

Der Spa- und Fitnessbereich lässt zu wünschen übrig. Deshalb wird er jetzt auch geschlossen und renoviert.
Ich finde es nicht fair, dass dazu keinerlei Hinweis bei der Buchung gegeben wurde.

Er befindet sich im Keller. Im Pool geht keine einzige Massagedüse, die Gegenstromanlage ist defekt.

Der Fitnessberecih besteht nur aus 3 Geräten, die zwar von einer Luxusmarke sind, aber von einen \"Unwissenden\" gekauft wurden. So z.B. das Laufband, das nicht per Motor angetrieben wird, sondern nur durch die eigene Laufgeschwindigkeit. Dieser Bänder sind schlichtweg...
Dann ein Bike mit breitem Sattel, das eher einem Bike für 80-jährige erinnert, von mir als Peloton- und Fullybikefahrer nicht richtig genutzt werden kann. Es erinnert an einen Sonntagsausflug.

Dazu ein Treppensteiggerät, was auch kein richtiges ist, sondern mehr einer Art Crosstrainer erinnert.

Sauna: Wird erst abends eingeschaltet.
Ruhebereich, dann am Pool. Keine Möglichkeit rauszugehen und abzukühlen. Weder Schwalldusche noch sonst etwas, was mit Sauna zu tun hat.

In die Jahre gekommen

Das Haus als Traditionshaus ist sehr schön, vor allem das Gebäude. Jedoch ist es ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen und wirkt dadurch veraltet und nicht mehr freundlich.

Das Frühstück für 35 Euro pro Person war es absolut nicht wert, der Service war ok.
