We enjoyed 5 night stay at the Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven during our recent vacation in Berlin. This little hotel is just a real gem! We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. The room was clean and spotless, the breakfast buffet was one of the best you'll find in Germany for an inexpensive hotel, and the staff were friendly and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel and will stay there again on our next visit to Berlin!

I arrived for check in about 8pm. The staff were very friendly. There is a small but perfectly functional bar. I was very impressed with the array of art work on display around the hotel. The room had everything I expected for a room of this class. It was clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was the big selling point for me. I’ve had far worse breakfasts in far more expensive hotels!
All the bases covered. Cereals, hot option (really good scrambled eggs!), pastries & cookies, cold meats, cheeses, fruit.
I went to Berlin for an event at the Huxley’s Neue Welt. The hotel is opposite the venue, and very easy to access on the U-Bahn.
I intend to return to Berlin and will certainly look to stay at the same hotel.

A last minute find, really happy witht the hotel. The large room overlooked a busy road (and a park) but the windows did their job well and I couldn't hear any traffic. There was a desk and a small table with an armchair. Good aircon and shower. Comfortable bed. The breakfast was plentiful and excellent in a room with plenty of daylight overlooking a small garden, you could also sit outside (also smoking area).
There's a tube station 5mns away and the hotel is about 45 mns from the airport.

I doubt Hermannplatz is a big tourist destination - it's a very mixed area - but I was here to visit an old friend nearby, who recommended Hotel L van B, and it is an absolute find. Staff delightful. Rooms spacious, clean, comfortable. The breakfast is one of the best I've ever had in any hotel. Right next door are ATM, mini-supermarket, a nice Italian restaurant... and a Hindu temple to Ganesh! Warmly recommended, I' shall be back.

Happy overall.

The hotel is a bit of a throwback. 70s feel , the room was spacious , beds not comfortable and the pillow just air. The bed linen , a strange off white , yellowey colour. Shower and toilet seperate were fine. Breakast was excellent, staff were friendly.
A few upgrades and this hotel would be so much better.

Hotel great - clean functional comfy rooms and a fab breakfast provided. It’s opposite the Hasenheide Park so the perfect stop over to participate in their Parkrun! Hermanplatz minutes away which gives easy access to the centre of Berlin - so great location… surrounding area has seen better days but that isn’t on the hotel itself. Lots of places to get food nearby - cafe or supermarket - so you cant go hungry!!!

This is a fantastic hotel; the family room is large with a separate single room. Breakfast was amazing with a huge range including plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. The only slight downside is the slightly dodgy area, many homeless and beggars around the hotel, but it was only a short walk to the U-Bahn. No air con but the fan made it bearable in the August heat.

Our car got vandalized at their parking lot, someone broke the glass and the hotel didn’t have insurance to compensate us, they didn’t even seem to care or give a dam about it. They said tell your insurance!!
I wonder what they use their property insurance for? So anything happens to the guest they dont activate and use the insurance they have or what? If they have insurance at all. Also, no fridge, no safe and no air conditioning in the room whats that!! Bare hotel

I did like parking was available as I had arrived early I was able to use one of the twenty or so spots and keep it because the metro was only a 200 meter way away. I did not like that my room was on the top floor and it was near 80 deg F that day with no A/C avaiable just a fan and two open windows that let in the noise from the street below and I didnt like the idea that you needed to use two different elevators,one from the street to the lobby and another up to my room and the neighbor was noisy and appeared unsafe.

Five minutes' walk to several nice Neukölln and Kreuzberg neighborhoods, right across from Hasenheide (big park), and five minutes to Ubahn Hermannplatz.
My double room was generously sized and very 90s but in good shape. It looked out onto the courtyard, which was great at night but less great when the construction on the next block started at 7am. Oh well.
There is big, colorful art throughout the place, which was fun. Breakfast was typical budget fare but fine. Breakfast room staff were great.

It was the perfect spot for seasoned travelers. The breakfast was delicious and filling. Very cozy, very convenient. We were able to reach public transit via a short walk and go all over the city. Free maps in the lobby made getting around even easier.

Despite the area, this hotel was fabulous. Comfortable rooms, great shower and fantastic breakfast. Staff very friendly too and all spoke English (thankfully, as my German is limited). We stayed here to do Hasenheide parkrun and it’s literally a 5 minute walk across the park. Easy to get into the city too on the U8, and from the airport. If I ever had to come back to Berlin - which is extremely unlikely - I’d stay here again

Our 4th time staying here and it is a great place to stay. Very well placed for access to public transport and you can get everywhere in the city easily. Rooms are clean, warm and comfortable, cleaned every day. Staff on reception are pleasant, helpful and polite. They have a lovely terrace, beautifully set up for Christmas. Breakfast is a super buffet with all you would expect in a German hotel. They even have a vegan selection for breakfast now. There are several local bars and restaurants within a very few metres, including traditional German, Greek and Italian. Reception will give recommendations if you ask them. It's not the poshest of areas, but you never feel unsafe. We will certainly be returning to the LVB next time we come to Berlin. My only small negative comment is that the information packs in the rooms are out of date. TV channel list isn't correct and it says that the hotel bar is open until midnight, but it actually shuts at 10 pm, which is maybe a bit early!

First and foremost the staff are awesome. It’s 24 hour concierge service so no need to worry about safety and they know a lot about Berlin and can point out sites including laundry and other sights on the spot.

The hotel is on a street with great Indian, Viet, Thai and Turkish foods that are really good. With Hermanplatz down the road getting around the city is convenient

Of the the four hotels we stayed at in Germany during our trip, this one had the best breakfast by far. Incredible selection and very fresh fruits and baked goods. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Dining area is a little worn. It's past time for them to update their room doors with modern locks an electronic key access. Location is convenient to transport but neighborhood is somewhat scruffy and tired.

Very clean and spacious en-suit room. Wide food selection for breakfast in a lovely spacious room with outside terrace. This hotel is very well located. There are shops, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. Also ideal for transport links. Area may get a bit crowded some evenings, but does not feel unsafe. While we were there there were works going on in a nearby building, nothing too disturbing but if you are a light sleeper bring your ear plugs with you :)

I got lucky to have black hairs all over my bed and toilet when I checked in. Since it was a night check in nobody was offering a room replacement for me so I slept in dirty bed. This place doesn’t look like on pictures, the hotel looks old in real life. Although I I turned on all the heating available in the room it was still really cold there so I slept in my clothes. Hotel didn’t provide a shampoo, there’s only one shower gel dispenser available in bathroom. The personnel is ok however one lady couldn’t answer a simple question regarding a night airport bus, which is kinda strange since a lot of tourists are visiting and the bus station were in 20 meters from the hotel. The location is really good. Overall If I knew all of this before booking I would’ve chosen another place to stay.

I mostly chose this location for the price point and the location which were both great. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. Hotel was clean and well maintained inside and housekeeping was consistent.

I would have liked to have a small fridge in the hotel room to store leftovers and some cold drinks. The bed was also not the most comfortable but it was decent. Overall would recommend especially for the price!

The owners definitely take great pride in keeping this place nice. The breakfast was exceptional, way beyond my expectation. There is a garden patio that’s fantastic as well. The place is filled with interesting art. What I like best about it is it’s location. It is steps away from terrific restaurants and a good neighborhood. Try Hamy’s a few doors down.

The hotel is clean and great value. That said, the mattress I slept on (which is standard for all rooms) was very uncomfortable. I could feel the springs and even the base of the bed. It’s way too thin. If you don’t mind an uncomfortable bed, the hotel is pretty good overall for the price paid.

Really great location next to Hermannplatz and major east/west (U7) and north/south (U8) connections via the U-bahn. I felt like I could get anywhere in the city in 25-30 minutes. There's also a really large park across the street. You can walk for hours in there. The hotel rooms were very clean and simple. My room had two single beds. I would have preferred a double, but I wanted the cheaper rate. I didn't try the breakfast, but I really recommend the Vietnamese restaurant a few doors down. My only complaint with the room was the lack of a small refrigerator or water pot to make tea/coffee. Like I said, the room was very simple, but clean and nice.

Wonderful hotel, close to public transportation for anywhere to get around Berlin, in the heart of the trendy Kreuzberg district. Wonderful park across the road for leisure and fitness activities. Nice cheap cafe and restaurant nearby. Great location without paying expensive tourist prices.

this Hotel is a lawsuit waiting to happen. When we went to get I to bed there was blood on our sheets. The cleaning person must have had a cut and bleed all over the sheets that bleed into the pillow and blankets. We got new sheets and they seemed ok. Check in was difficult because they did not make a notation about my reservation as I had asked them too so I was charged and then reimbursed for an extra person. Also the hair dryer started to melt after being used for about 3 minutes. It will melt onto someone someday And really hurt them. The breakfast was nice though.

The hotel is 50m from a U-Bahn station, making it easy to connect to the centre of Berlin in around 10 minutes. Also easy to get to from TXL airport.

Room was large and beds were comfy. Room smelt faintly of smoke when we arrived, but smell went after opening the window.

Hotel staff really friendly and helpful. Would have been lovely to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room, instead of paying for one when returning from a cold day at the xmas markets.

The hotel is very convenient for the U-Bahn and it is easy to get into the centre of Berlin. It is in a pleasant area opposite a park and near to a large department store and eating places. The room was spacious and quiet and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was good. They even had soft boiled eggs! No safe in room Would be nice to have tea/coffee making facility Have stayed here previously and would again

Hotel Ludwig van Beethoven, 14/11 to 16/11/19

Clean, rooms just a little too basic (would expect a kettle?), BBC channel was actually CNBC,but overall fine for what we wanted; shower very good, not often the case in more highly starred hotels than this. Very good breakfast in nice surroundings and staff very friendly. Would stay again but probably bring a travel kettle! Perfect location for Huxleys venue opposite (we came over for a gig) and 2 minute walk to U-Bahn.
