The Holiday Inn Munich West was a perfect location for visiting and exploring Munich. The train station was a 2 minute walk away and we were in the city centre in approx 10 minutes. The rooms were clean and comfortable, check in was easy and the staff were very helpful. We found there was a good choice of options for breakfast for meat eaters and vegetarians. Overall we would stay there again.

The location is excellent and extremely convenient. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is good, although it could be improved with more variety, as the same options are offered every day.

Disliked:
Housekeeping needs significant improvement. The housekeeping staff member had a very unpleasant odor that lingered in the hallway and inside the room. Dirty cups were not removed, and the bed sheets were not changed at all during our five-night stay, which was disappointing.

The annual Christmas market trip was to Munich this year. Now, hotels and taxis come very expensive in Munich, especially within the city centre, so we went with one of Munichs Holiday In Expresses, their large one located on the west side.
Balanced with cost, this hotel is perfectly located next to Hirschgarten train station. Easily reached by the Sl or S8 metro from the city or airport. Check in was friendly and helpful. Room was basic but functional. Shower was great, bed comfy, safe and TV all working. Not many towels here and not very fluffy but you can ask for more. Also norm cleaning does not occur every day.
Breakfast hearty and pleasant. You do have to book weekend slots so they can spread the demand, but this did not appear enforced on our visit. There is a nice bar with a food menu, and convenient alcohol, snacks, drinks shop located next to reception.
This would be our go to hotel on trips to Munich for cost and location.

Very good hotel and value for the money. Rooms were clean, quiet, spacious bathroom. Breakfast was just OK and very basic. Scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage links, toast, pastries, coffee, and healthy options. All buffet style. Subway and bus stop literally within 100 meters makes commute very easy. Subway near the hotel has direct routes from and to the Munich airport. Expect 20-30 minutes commute from hotel to old town and most landmarks within the Munich urban area.

Munich experience in Holiday Inn .

Rooms very clean and comfortable but cups left dirty . No coffee creamer in room . However reception staff excellent and provided clean cups and condiments . Breakfast slight crowded but variety of good food . Room closed to reception on next floor so very convenient. Tube station nearby helped so used every day . 4 stops took us to main part of town where your buses start . Lots of good food places nearby . Reception staff exceptionally helpful . Gave us all information we needed about daily travel . Also booked taxis to station easily and quick arrival across road . . Excellent location of hotel .

After a harrowing experience at another hotel, I was able to secure last minute reservations at this hotel. The hotel was easy to find, the parking lot was safe, the staff extremely kind to us, and the breakfast was excellent. The rooms are spacious enough. We were able to get around despite our luggage and wheelchair. I give the rating 4 stars because the pullout sofas are hard and lumpy, the pillows extremely lumpy, and staff had to improvise when we requested a shower chair for our son with limited mobility. I do give staff credit for their kind help in getting him a chair. These are easily fixable issues, so hopefully hotel management sees this and resolve them. All in all, we had a great stay. We liked this property so much, that upon our return to Munich after a one-day trip outside the city, we gladly made a new reservation and returned there.

Visited Munich for 4 days and this hotel will be my go to for next trips. It’s clean, well maintained, great options for breakfast. It’s 1 block away from train station where all S-Bahn trains stop, it makes it extremely convenient for getting in and out of the city. Loved it!

Slightly Above Average Hotel

Holiday Inn Express is a comfortable hotel with a great breakfast. It is let down by an average location when it comes to access to transportation and dining. The bar was unmanned at seven at night when we wanted snacks and drinks. We had to go to the front desk to get service. The room was comfortable enough, but not special and channel selection on the TV was disappointing. Four stars instead of three because the breakfast was really good.

Good location, friendly staff, amazing breakfast.

The location is good as the metro is right next to the hotel. You will need to take 4-5 stations (10 mins) to reach Marienplatz but at least the station is quite empty which makes it really convenient to find a chair.

The best thing about this hotel is their staff and their breakfast!! We didn't like the bed so much but it was ok.

Overpriced for what they offer. They put us in a basement room and the carpet was filthy and had a ton of bleach stains. The room was cramped, no air filtration in the bathroom, no fan or air filtration in the room, and the window opened minimally only from the top, (tilted inward) we were afraid the entire panel of glass window about 8 -9 ft tall was going to fall on us as we tried to get some relief from the humidity in the room. Extremely expensive also for the mediocre breakfast they offer. Bananas and other fruit were not ready to eat. They were green. Long lines and no staff to monitor that guests come to the buffet at the designated time that they signed up for at the front desk at check in. Do better Holiday Inn.

Everything was great about our hotel room but the air conditioning. It never would get as cold as I would like it. But, every hotel we stayed in on our trip we encountered the same issue. They just aren’t up to American standards.
Bring your own wash cloth. They are not provided and considered a personal item. Luckily Aldo was a block away and we could get some wash clothes and some food.

Close to Train Station

Great Location for catching train to airport. 3-5 min walk. Hotel was nice. We were only there for a few hrs to catch a 6am flight. My only complaint is that our room faced the street we were on the 4th floor but it felt like the people on the street were standing next to our bed how LOUD they were! Better sound proof windows would be a great improvement otherwise good hotel.

First, the location being next to the rail was great! Having traveled by train, it was very convenient to be able to walk to the hotel with our luggage. The hotel is clean and the free breakfast put it over the top. Even though you’re next to the rail and a busy street, you don’t hear any noise from the room. The money saved from using the SBaun and a free meal, we were able to splurge on dinner. There’s a few restaurants in walking distance and we found the Chinese restaurant basically 300m from the hotel to have a great menu and it’s very delicious! Would definitely stay here again!

We’ve stayed here a number of times before. There’s always a friendly, helpful welcome. Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. Facilities great. Location great for reaching Munich and also for getting about.

The room was nice, but the bed not to our liking, even the pillows felt like sandbags. Housekeeping came every day, but didn’t replace coffee or creamer, didn’t clean cups and exchanged a dirty towel with one that had a big rip in it. I would say the best thing was breakfast, a really nice buffet with everything from Müsli to pancakes, rolls to croissants, eggs , spreads, meats and cheeses. The location was likewise not to bad, easy access to the tram and only a few stops to town. However, it was not cheap and I felt the value for the money could have been better.

Staff was also very nice and accommodating and could speak English well which is always nice as an American traveller. Train was a very short walk which was very convenient including a short ride into the city center. Supermarkets and ATM nearby so had everything you needed in a close walking distance. Everything worked though AC was struggling.
Located in a very new part of Munich the area can feel isolated and sterile even though it is only three stops from main station.

Excellent stay at this hotel. Very nice staff, clean and modern room, housekeeping was very good and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The hotel was in a great quiet location about 2 miles from the city centre but about 50 yards from the Hirschgarten station, from which it was 5 stops to the Marienplatz. I would stay here again.

Covid measures were good and made clear e.g. choice of time slots for breakfast to restrict numbers. Tables spaced out and cleared quickly once guests had vacated the tables. Underground parking is safe and secure. Not sure if parking in the vicinity needs a permit, but I didn’t want to chance it. Hotel is in a low emission area, evidenced by stickers on cars.
We travelled via Austria - remember vignette for their motorways - we bought one at a service station. Care - online purchase takes 18 days to register.
Good location for trains and trams to the city. Handy location for the ring road and link to motorways

I was first given a room that stank of cigarette (although the window was opened when I got in) and really struggled to get it changed (as I was staying for three nights I wasn’t going to stay in a room smelling like an old ashtray...) Then I wanted to use the iron which according to the leaflet is exactly where you expect it. Cupboard? Naaaaah at reception.... and you are supposed to give a deposit to get it (i guess that too many people went away with irons and ironing boards in the past...) the food is pre-cooked microwave dishes... (for over €10 each....). Not the greatest experience......

There was not a lot of space in the room for the three of us. The extra bed was not very comfortable. Breakfast was continental style and was very busy. We had to wait to find a table and had to clean it ourselves. It was very close to the station which was handy for the city and the airport.

very convenient for the Hirschgarten station and easy connections in to town and the airport but not much in the way of bars or restaurants nearby for late night drinks. 3 Euro for a bottle of water from vending machine (no water in room although there was a kettle etc). Bath(shower)room very good. Very clean, busy and efficient breakfast. I would use again. special mention to Michel Schnell on reception who was very helpful.
