Good stay! Room came with towels and linens. The beds were what you'd expect from a hostel. We stayed during Oktoberfest, so it was a little rowdy. About a 15 min walk to the train station. Not too many food options nearby, but the lobby has vending machines. All day luggage storage is provided.

Busy building! Lots of guests coming and going. The staff will change your sheets unexpectedly so watch out for that.
Amusingly there's a pizza vending machine in the parking lot but the hostel pizza is better.

This is my second time staying here and I have to say, a lot has changed and not for better. Rooms are good, we had a private room and it was clean. The noise was manageable, however, at around 4 am a guy kept banging on the door of the dormitories opposite to us because he had \"forgotten his key\". One of us talked to the guy and told him to go to the reception to fix this issue but the guy wouldn't listen. Which brings me to a bigger concern... How is it that one can enter a building and go into any floor without ever needing a key??. major safety concern here!
But the worst thing wasn't this incident with the guy. Upon my arrival, the check- in machines were not working properly. After communicating this to the staff, a very rude guy insisted saying that it was \"the way to check in\". The Expedia code the one that begins with 7 and the one that the \"machine asked for\" wasn't working, and the guy handed a \"new code\" to us... I keep asking myself, if the process doesn't work with the machine, shouldn't the staff then do the process manually?? I'm totally disappointed in the check-in experience at the A&O Hostels. First in Berlin and now here at Laim in Munich.
That being said, the guy that processed our check out was totally fine.
Since it's more of a lottery regarding professional and competent staff I'm not sure if I would stay here again.

Give it a swerve...

The service is terrible. They are over charging tourists, pure scam. Its 7 euros for 50cl beer, yet they charge 8 and don't tell customers it is a 1 euro deposit for a plastic glass. I stayed at a&o vienna and the staff and service was fantastic....if this is a franchise, your team at Munich Liam are really letting the brand down....extremely disappointing!

On the first day they gave a terrible room which was dirty and next to the door. Very loud in the night bathroom has a smell. But we informed them after the first night and Tanvi the staff was very polite and gave us a better room which was very clean

Title: Disappointing Experience at a&o München Laim

We stayed for one night and were quite disappointed. Our twin room wasn’t ready even an hour after the official check-in time. After requesting assistance, we were given another room, but conditions were the same. Confusingly, the elevator had an \"out of order\" sign but was actually working. As a goodwill gesture, we were offered one coffee in the morning — but when I asked for a second one for my travel companion, they refused. Poor service overall and not a pleasant stay.

Small rooms, hot without a fan windows opened but would open toward the patio downstairs where people smoked and it would all come into the room, but without the open window it was hot in the room. Loud in the halls at night and the door kept rattling whenever someone down the hall would open their door. Kept us ipyat night. Otherwise it was a convenient location for travel

Its a hostel...its affordable. The staff were friendly and helpful but over run by so many guests so you have to be patient. This hostel is next to 12 sifferent train tracks ao its very noisy...no fans or AC so if its hot plan on cold wet towels at night to help you sleep...the bar, the big screen, vending machines and pizza machine were great additions... there were many many teenagers here during our stay that we're very loud but we have our own teenagers and love kids so it was fine for us but if you don't like kids this would be a problem... I would stay here again next time I'm in Munich but I would make sure that my room did not face the train tracks!

I recommend getting the rooms in the front side of the building, it is quieter. The back side of the building are facing the train rails. It’s very noisy and you cannot sleep with close windows because of the heat in the summer. Unfortunately they don’t have AC. But you can borrow a fan from the reception. Otherwise the room is great and nothing else we can complain.

The people you meet are wonderful, but the staff..

I spend 2 out of my 7 nights there. The reception is almost always overcrowded and I waited for 40 minutes to be able to check in. This was due to people also cutting the line with huge tasks that should have waited as well. So after I was standing there with heavy luggage all that time, the lady finally turned her attention towards me, after everyone else has been dealt with already (I was not the last one in line). So turns out if you show up a few days late they cancel your booking, even though you paid for it. This was stated nowhere and if I would have known I wouldn't have waited for checkin. So they assigned me a new bed and told me nothing else. Needless to say, I really felt the warm welcome.

So once I arrived in my room I made my bed and everything was great. So I headed to Vienna for 1 day. Coming back my card didn't work anymore and my bed was reassigned. The security was nice enough to guide me to get a new one.

All in all, meh. The people I met in my room were wonderful and incredibly kind, but the service, just awful. Shoutout to the security though, you guys are doing a great job

Not exactly what you see.

My experience wasnt all pleasant.,its not what you see in pictures, also they had a lot of teenagers screaming and running around hallways late at night. Also had to kill a coockarouch. Overall was ok for the price. Location not close to downtown. Parking was is tight, but sufficient. Front desk was nice , but room cleaner open up our door way before check out and didnt knock before coming in.

We didn’t sleep the two days we stayed and left a day early. The hotel is on the entry to the main train station. You can’t shut the window as there was no ventilation. Your given one small hand towel, beds are awful.
Only positive is the breakfast staff was very friendly.

Not happy that the private room I paid a premium for did not have a working television for the three days I was there, after multiple requests to have it looked at, including directly to the a&o manager. One reception member even laughed at me when I told him that his colleague the day prior said that a technician would be called.
Further, I was very disappointed to learn that a&o did NOT have laundry facilities on the property - even though the web advertisements promote this. This was central to my decision to stay there, and no explanation was provided why the facilities were no longer available.

1. No where in the website where I booked mentioned that it was a hostel. 2. When we got there it was overbooked (frequent practice according to the clerk). 3. The alternative option was to send us to a renovating hotel. Even worse! I guess that’s enough to open your eyes when booking at this place.

This is a very basic, bare bones hostel. For what it is, it's fine--but be aware, it's not really a \"hotel\" as the expedia listing may say. If you want a private room, be very careful to book that! We booked a family room, which was comfortable enough for our family of four. But be aware that there is no air conditioning, so you'll be opening your windows for cool air onto a noisy street.

I would rate higher, given that it's a hostel and you don't expect five-star amenities, but several elements of the room were broken or not working well. Our room's shower barely worked, giving us just a trickle of water that never really warmed up. One of the windows was broken and wouldn't open properly, which was frustrating on a hot night.

The area is walkable and safe, with the train station not far for easy access downtown, but there are not many restaurants nearby, so plan accordingly.

Beware, beyond here be monsters...

The only reason I chose this place over 5km out of the city centre was for the guest kitchen and the guest laundry.
The guest laundry was out of order. No explanation given. Tough luck.
The guest kitchen was a closet in the dungeon basement with a hotplate, bar freezer, a pot and a frying pan. Plates and cutlery had to be requested from the reception. The fridge handnt been cleaned out in so long that several mystery bags had living organisms starting their own attempt at evolving sentient life. A bottle of ketchup and mayo had frozen the selves in the rear wall's ice sheet for future archeologists to muse over. When alerting the front desk the kitchen clearly hadn't been cleaned in months the were very apologetic and I was assured that they were immediately contacting the cleaning staff to take care of it. 2 days later nothing had changed and you could still smell the room from 20m away, through a fire door.

This visit has reminded me of what I always knew. A&O is designed for tour groups and highschool class trips to come in, stay a night, charge micro transactions for everything, and get you out 1-2 nights later. Keep that in mind when booking.

The hotel was otherwise clean and well kept. But the place is designed to nickle and dime you for every little extra. Despite the name, it is not a hostel, it is part of the new trend of Corporate Hostel/hotel. Hostels are a dying breed in Europe. I wish you the best of luck in finding one

Simply Perfect!!

I was so surprised by this Hostel! Its simple and very clean! The price was absolutely amazing. I was worried about the foam matress but it was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful. I hope all A&O hostels are like this one in Munich. I will now always look for one when making sleeping arrangements.

Check-in was a complete disaster. Terminals out of service, queuing at the reception desk with small kids and nothing happening, three guys chatting, one of them even smoking in a back room. Only when asked, they said that they needed to close the daily cash or whatever, and we had to wait for another 15 minutes without an apology. In the room, the air was hot and heavy (which is ok, airco wasn't included) but the fan was broken and the security cover on it was missing. Meaning that if one of the kids touched the turning fan they would be seriously injured.
The room was clean though and the breakfast was ok, although a bit overpriced given the actual offer, especially for children.

For the price, the place itself was decent with a large bathroom and kitchen facilities. But expect noisy neighbors (loud voices and banging of doors into the early hours) if staying here in the heart of Liverpool on a Saturday night, as the city center is noted for its vibrant and diverse nightlife. Plus the pedestrianized areas around the hotel weren't very clean and probably not suitable for families.

Affordable, convenient to the s-bahn to the centre, and close to a Lidl for supplies, it is good for the price and had everything we needed. As a bonus, our rental car when we left town was just a minute or two away on foot. I would come back should we stay over in Munich again.

We go to a double room: this was not a double from what the pictures looked like but actually a booked out small dorm with two sets of bunks taking get up room plus a bed. There was a spider in our blankets (don't worry it won't be bothering any further guests) but apart from that the stay was great and the reception staff very helpful, good laundry and safe and easy location.

My Phone was stolen and the staff was not helping

I stayed in the hostel on 30 September. I was in the common area and my phone was charging there while I was present in the vicinity. After sometime I saw my phone was missing along with my charger. Upon bringing this to the attention of the staff there they did not help one bit and instead told me I should not have put it on charge. Not a single person came forward to help. All the time people were drinking and creating a huge ruckus which did not seem to bother the staff at all. I was even told by a staff member not to go to the police and report this. I find this highly disgusting and unprofessional. These people did not even have CCTV cameras there.

I understand it was Oktoberfest when we stayed here but we stayed at Hackerbrucke after this one stay and it was a world of a difference. There obviously is no quiet time at Laim because there were people talking so loud outside our window, in the lobby they were playing music so loud like it was a nightclub but there were only 3 people in there at 5 in the morning and then we have a guy come into the room at 3 in the morning and puke on this old lady's sweater who was also in the room. We are pretty sure that it was one of the workers. He bolted before the sun was shining so we couldn't see and he didn't clean up his mess.

Excellent receptionists but strange housekeeping

Great service at the front desk! Very helpful with my receptionist being fluent in several languages. However, the housekeeping staff service was a strange experience for me. They came into my room with one available bed and told me they needed three beds available. I was so confused because I do not have the authority to make that happen. Everyone in that room has already paid. I think the housekeeping needs to stay better in contact with the front desk to control confusion with the guest. Especially when housekeeping comes several different times, and by different people, to see if there are beds available.

We had issues with bed bugs on our first two nights. Since my girlfriend is allergic to their bites she had a very uncomfortable stay at the hotel, and is still affected (nearly a week after) by it. The customer service line is also not great as they still haven't dealt with the issue and said that I will get a response in a week. I feel that with an issue such as bed bugs this should be dealt with quickly....However, when we mentioned the issue to the staff at the reception they were very generous and did provide a new room and complimentary drinks and breakfast along with assurance of a refund.

Very good hostel

As far as hostels go, this is very very decent. The staff is great! Neighborhood is quiet, not to far from the train station. My first time here was during Oktoberfest. So it was really busy, but the rooms and facilities were tidy and clean. I chose this A&O because it had the best ratings of the three In Munich, and after staying there twice i won't try the other two.
