Every member of staff we meet were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The only problem we had was the windows didnt stop any of the noise from the road outside coming in. Struggled to sleep. You could also every little noise from the hall way.

Everything was absolutely perfect, there was only one thing that was wrong, not sure if this was an Expedia or hotel issue but we did not get the same room we paid extra for… we paid extra for the suite room that has a jetted tub but we did not receive said room.. other than that though, it was amazing and all staff was very friendly!!! The housekeepers were on it and made our room perfect everytime we left, they put extra time into details such as cleaning the mirrors and shower everyday!!!

The staff were very nice and friendly. However, the room was very bad. The standing shower smells very bad, a smell of mold sewer, and even after reporting to the staff, the smell persisted for the whole stay. We requested for a room change, but they said all rooms are full.
Also, after each shower, the water flooded out on the floor, and we had to put many towels to dry it up.
The toilet is way too high for average people.

The property has a good location for dining and transportation. The hotel offers a great breakfast. However, the property needs an upgrade compared to United States standards. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good rest.
Additionally, they turned off the central AC only because the temperature outside had cooled. Although after my complaint, they turned back on.
Finally, the room lacked a separate shower. It only has a very tall bathtub with a curtain around it to separate it from the beds. This bathtub poses an unreasonable danger due to its height, making it difficult to get in and out.

Excellent location. Rooms a little dated but very clean and comfortable. Rooms cleaned daily- lovely coming back to freshly made beds and clean towels.
Reception staff friendly and welcoming.
Breakfast good but go early as after 9 food runs out and isn’t replenished.
The man who is in charge of the breakfast area has an amazing tatoo but is very grumpy! If you can make him smile I’d love to know your secret!
All in all- the hotel is run down in the communal areas but if you’re spending time in your hotel whilst in Rome, then you’re not appreciating where you are! Get out, explore, walk, eat and live life.

Really nice, clean hotel in a good location close to the train station. The staff were very kind and helpful. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room cool. The windows blocked out the street noise really well, not sure what kid of magical glass they use.

The breakfast could use some improvement, we didn't find a lot of options that we liked. Also the listing is a little bit wonky on Expedia. I booked the superior quadruple room thinking we were getting two distinct environments (like the pictures showed), but it ended up being a standard room with 4 beds.

I've stayed at the Hotel California many times before. I select it because of its affordable price and location near Roma Termini. On this visit I found the bed to be supremely comfortable -- this was by far its best feature. The shower was pretty abysmal, barely functional... the soap/shampoo options were equally poor. If you didn't pack your own supplies, you are screwed. It was a disappointing stay this time around. That said, I always find the staff to be super helpful and friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. While the hotel looks pretty basic, it is clean and well kept and the staff on the front desk were very helpful. We had a wheelchair user in our group and the lift was easy to use, the delux quad room was very accessible for us and we could easily get the wheelchair in both the room and the bathroom if needed. Breakfast was down stairs which we couldn't manage but the front desk set us up with a table upstairs and we were able to bring our breakfast up to eat together. This was a great solution for us and the breakfast was really good! The location was also perfect for the train station and sight seeing. We would stay here again.

La habitación espaciosa con frigobar, y buen lugar para guardado de ropa y equipaje. El baño muy bueno y grande. El desayuno bueno pero el lugar pequeño y cortaban media hora antes de lo que indica el horario. La zona para caminar, tomar tranvía y bus, a pasos de Termini, con muchos restaurantes, nos resultó inmejorable.

The place was ok when we checked in but shortly after there was a gas smell. We checked with the front desk and were told that it was not the first time. The cleck came in the room and sprayed air freshner and told us that should fix the smell. Both one of my kids and I started getting massive headaches and then Nausea. We found anotyer hotel and left as we didnt feel safe. As if today, we have yet to be reimbursed for both the room and the tourist tax.

One Night Stay at Hotel Caliornia in Rome

Check-in was easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage since it was not check-in time yet. Very simple room, seemed clean. However, no conditioner, and the vent was putting out a bad smell. (sewage like). I sprayed the sheets with perfume and cologne to help. We were just there overnight. The hotel offers a very nice breakfast spread with cheeses/meats and other options like scrambled eggs, breads, and juices.

We loved how close it was to Roma Termini. It was about a 3 block walk from Termini. We were able to take the Leonardo Express train from the airport to Roma Termini and then walk to the hotel. We also walked to the Colosseum which took about 15-20 minutes. We also walked to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, which took about 25-30 minutes each way. The hotel common areas looked a bit run down but the room was fairly modern. The bathroom was very nice and spacious. We had 2 sinks in our Quadruple room. The breakfast was good with scrambled eggs and cut up hot dogs, croissants and cereals. We feel we saved a lot of money on eating out and taxis. The metro is also nearby at Roma Termini if you want to go to the Vatican.

We would not stay at this property again. We chose it for its proximity to the train station (you can't beat it!) and the fact they offered luggage storage for multiple days while we went to Naples. However, the staff when we left our luggage was very unhelpful and annoyed with us. We asked questions and he would not answer them and just say \"check your email\" for our luggage storage confirmation. When we returned to stay one night before our flight home, we waited 20 minutes for someone to be at the front desk so we could check in (we arrived ~9pm). We were in our room 6 hours before we had to leave for our train and that was almost too long. The room had a WC but the shower opened directly into the rest of the room, there was a curtain to separate from the bed but the shower and drink were basically in the room without separation. It was very awkward. In addition, the holder for the shower head was broken so it held it at a weird angle where we had to be crammed in the corner. The water pressure was non-existent. I cannot imagine staying here for any length of time again.

The room was okay. Our room key card works on the first day we checked in the hotel. The automatic device alerted us that battery is low. The front desk guy was told about the battery is low on the key pad same day. Next day we left the room and late afternoon we couldn't get into the room. Waited for the hotel maintenance guy, he changed one battery on the key pad. Next day we left the room and can't get in again. This is third day our last day, told the front desk staff and he changed all batteries so we can get into our room that evening. The room was strangely designed with a panel across the mirror in front of the bath tub and the sink is below it. I need to bend down to see my face. The small tables are all lean downward because it has no legs for support. The refrigerator is clear glass with a blinking light all day/night. You will need to cover it otherwise you will see consistently a blinking light while you are sleeping. The air was cool enough. The building is outdated. This is mostly common through out Italy or other European countries. Good location near the train station and restaurants all around the hotel.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. The common areas could use some cleaning, years worth of grime.
The room itself was clean and spacious. It is in a busy area and street noise was loud until after midnight.
Breakfast starts at 7am, so unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy as we had an early flight.
For a short stay this is a good hotel, nothing fancy, but you are in Rome for the city, not the hotel. Incredibly close to Termini, 3 minute walk.

The room was not clean and it smelled like sewage. It was obvious staff knew because the window was wide open. We checked in late and exhausted. I should have complained and asked for a different room but instead we tried not to gag all night. Couldn’t wait to get out of there in the morning. When I told them the room was uninhabitable due to the smell they did nothing.

This is an odd hotel. If it was cheaper, I would give it a better review, but it wasn’t. It is located close to the Rome Termini train station, so that was a good thing. But, that also means it is surrounded by tacky souvenir shops and lots of dive restaurants and bars. The hotel is in an old building that houses another hotel and businesses. There was a lot of noisy and dusty construction going on in the upper floors, so the elevator (placed in the middle of the original buildings stairwell) was slow. The room was okay, but the floor was really dusty (probably from the construction.) The sink was outside of the toilet and shower in the room, and the toilet/bidet was separate from the shower. The shower was dark and strange with the drain located at the base of the shower door. There were only two electrical outlets in the room. The breakfast was okay (good coffee), but I wouldn’t pay extra for it. The staff tried to be nice, but they seemed a little stressed and cranky. Overall, our stay was okay, but not really worth the money.

This was perfect for a family of four (8year old and 10 year old). Right near the main train station so easy to get to once arriving from the airport, could hop on the Metro as well. We had a room which a double bed and then a wall and singles on the other side. Is a 3 star rating but can’t actually fault the place for what we wanted it for. Good accommodation to sleep in with a family whilst exploring Rome. Breakfast was basic but then we are not use to continental breakfast.

It is a no trills hotel. However if you are enjoying the sights and sounds of Rome, you just need a place to sleep. The room is warm, so i slept with the window open. I had my wife and kids with me and they put in two cots for my kids. The room card has to be put in this thing where the power comes on which is new to me. Breakfast was ok, it is not free unless you prepay. The serve the same breakfast every morning, eggs, little hotdogs, breads, cold cuts, and yogurts. The staff is nice and there alot of wonderful restaurants and fast food places nearby. There is also alot of gift shops and markets. The train station nearby is convenient. They also message me about a shuttle ride to the airport which i use. I recommend this hotel
