I liked this motel. The guy at desk on April 19th 7pm was so nice, helpful and friendly. The pool was great very warm. It closed at midnight but zero parties or noise issues. The whole place was quiet. I was there Sunday to Thurs after Coachella. Yes it’s an old motel an original PS but if you don’t go in expecting marble, laminate floors, glass showers it great! Sure it got old red carpet but it’s clean. TV, safe, iron, coffee pot, fridge, loud airconditioner but works well. Comfy bed and pillows. I was solo female felt very safe. The grounds are really nice that Tiki vibe is cute and saw people w dogs in the large grassy area. It’s not downtown which is 5 min drive away and airport 10 min. The Reef restaurant onsite was really good.

We love staying here and stay 2-3 times a year. Live in Wa state. The Reef is always great, good drinks and food. Reef staff always the nicest people. We do like the hotel. Dog friendly clean rooms. It’s the desk staff that I find too business like, in flexible and cold. Never plesant , never smiling and down right “ I don’t give a rip” attitudes. In the 5 years we have been staying this has been the case. Even on the phone.

Staff was pleasant and helpful. Parking easy. Room was clean but rooms need updating. The gym is actually nice but smells terrible. I hate carpet nowadays just me. Dispenser for soap etc was either broke or not full but didn’t matter since we always carry our own and are particular. We could deal w the negatives because of the positives which are you have 2 really good places to eat onsite right next to the pool the Reef and Sanchos. Reef has fantastic food burgers sandwiches and drinks. Reef has best mocktail menu for kids and will make virgin daiquiris and pina coladas. All drinks were good. Sanchos has really good Mexican food and carne asada is tender and flavorful and omg their mango margarita and michelada were bomb. Very fresh food. The Patio Mexican restaurant downtown didn’t compare to Sanchos food or service and staff in my opinion. Hotel pool was so warm. They actually heat their pool they don’t just advertise that they do. The pool doesn’t close until late so we swam daytime and after doing things like the Tram we were able to swim at night. Kids had such a good time w the mocktails pool and hot tub. A lot of families and family oriented people there and lots of shade! And cool water misters all around the pool which was fantastic.

The vintage tiki theme of hotel was cool and the pool was huge. It was perfect on a very hot day! We had an issue with our room during the first night which we brought up to the staffs attention the next morning. They were beyond great at addressing the issue and making it right with us. I can’t stress enough how awesome the office staff is at wanting to make your stay an enjoyable one. Definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again next time we visit Palm Springs.

I chose this hotel not only for the good reviews but number one reason is that it offered a heated pool, I was very disappointed due to the 2 day stay not once was I able to enjoy the pool, the pool was so cold every adult around the pool complained on how cold the water was in the pool, no one was enjoying the pool, the room was a disappointment also, as soon as we opened the door there was a big stain like it would have been from some one who throw up and it wasn’t cleaned very well, the rest of the carpet was very stained and dirty, the rug needed to be replaced, I paid a lot for the 2 day stay, I should have stayed at the Travelodge down the street for a lot less money and just as terrible as this place, people beware, don’t be fooled like I was, never again will I and my friends stay here!!!😡

The rooms are very outdated. The telephone did not work. There was no shampoo conditioner or soap in the shower containers. The air conditioner remote did not work and you could not adjust the air conditioner by The controls that were on it.
My first review was a lot better it seems that it depends on what room you get. We will not be staying here ever again.

Check in staff was very nice. However, the room was in poor condition. The wall paper was cut in pieces, falling off in others. The carpet was not vacuumed, the prior guests had left tags from new clothes on the floor. There was candy on the side of the mini fridge. Hair in the sink and shower. Long hair in a pile behind the toilet. Worse of all there was poop on the drawstring bag thay has the extra toilet paper roll in it on top of the toilet. Super dirty room.

Spent the week with my daughter, she really enjoyed the pool as did I. Would stay again. Room was clean, staff was really friendly. Does need some maintenance but was having to much fun to really pay attention. Can’t wait to visit again. Excellent location too! 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🤩🌴🌴🌴

Dirty, coffee pot was disgusting, big window in front did not have a lock, and then when they fix the lock, I opened it partially, and then could not close it again, there is no microwave in the room. The room was spacious, but really needed some work. The reef bar annd restaurant and Sanchos restaurant that was sort of attached to the pool were great. But the hotel really needs some tender, loving care.

Great tiki bar…great pool area. Rooms are an epic fail. Saying it’s dated is like giving the rooms a pass. Dismal,chipped cement,exposed outlets. How much effort could it be to paint a cheerful color and different flooring? No outlet to plug in cell phone into. Cannot recommend based on the condition of the rooms.

Slow service at pool restaurant. Just note when it says pool bar and restaurant it is not. It is designed so you have to get fully dressed. Go into restaurant and order and wait long waits for a pool drinks. I’m sure restaurants food is good, since long waits. Just want future travelers to know it’s not just a pool bar. It a restaurant on premises you can get drinks at. Pool was amazing very well kept. Wish I could have taken bed with us slept great.

The aesthetic was exactly what I was looking for. The pool area was laid out nicely; the pool and hot tub temperatures were perfect and the music was just the right style and volume. Perfect for getting that mid-century vibe while relaxing poolside. The staff was very friendly and helpful; house keeping was Johnny-on-the-spot, and the on-site restaurants, while not fancy were solid. Room decor was spot on, with perfect mid-century Tiki vibes. On the downside, our mattress was severely worn out, with a huge dip on my side resulting in lower back pain. The carpet was also visibly stained in some areas and could probably stand to be replaced. While not a super-fancy, boutique hotel, we still had a very good experience and would be happy to stay there again!

I loved this property! The only thing that did not make it 5 stars was the toilet was running every 10 seconds and was really loud and the shower/bath was very very loud like a whistling noise😬 but the pool and spa was amazing as well as the happy hour and restaurant food!! Will definitely be coming back!

The exterior is well maintained and looks very cute. Great pool too. The rooms are terrible, pealing wallpaper, carpet looks like it’s original from 1950’s (so gross we kept shoes on the whole time). Mattresses are awful…probably 30 years old. Shower had been updated, but not done well. Staff at the Reef restaurant were unfriendly and seemed annoyed by patrons both nights we went. The pool was the only good thing. I would not stay at this hotel again nor would I eat at the Reef again.

The Tropics is a little gem off the beaten path of downtown. Although the property is dated it's clean and has great amenities (pool, restaurant, bar, gym). Very relaxing, friendly staff, and cute decor. Only complaint is that there was no microwave in the room. HIghly recommended.

Great pool. We were with a child. He delighted in the large hearted pool. Sitting by the pool was great too with gorgeous views. Rooms were clean and comfortable. This hotel was a great buy especially silly for this time of year in Palm Springs. The outside look is charming. Location is convenient and central. There's a great bar where we met friends as well. Edna at check-in on Saturday was very rude. I let her know that I had read some poor reviews and wanted to check out the room and then if I wasn’t happy with it for them to switch us to a different room. I asked if she knew if there had been any maintenance done or improvements to the rooms in the last months or so. She explained we had the last room of our type, which is fine. But then she went on to say that I should ignore other people‘s opinions and make my own evaluation. Seriously when you go to yelp and 40% of your ratings are a 1 with a huge number of negative complaints from unsafe door locks to stains in comforter and drapes to bugs to rude staff, and that is her response. Her response should have been that they in fact, have replaced the locks throughout the property with swipe locks. They have replaced comforters and drapes. They have worked to improve cleanliness. She was a rude little 20 year-old. In terms of the room, those improvements have been made, which is great. The staff should tell people about it when they have questions. The Jacuzzi is great. The pool is very nice. It looks like they have replaced about 25% of the beach chairs, but the rest are still very old. In the gym, there are no dumbbells under 50 pounds. There is electrical tape wrapped around handles on chest press. There was a good variety of barbells. There was a water fountain and ice machine. The treadmill was cheap home one. Overall, it worked ok but I would never come back

The pool area was great. There is quite a bit of deferred maintenance when we entered the restroom the light fixture was out had to get maintenance to replace it. The shower fixture you had to pull really hard to get it to work and unfortunately someone forgot to turn the water off in the bathtub in the room above us and it leaked good part of the night Staff addressed these issues so that part was good.

There was nothing special here- and while we paid for a 'deluxe' king room there was nothing deluxe about it- very basic and a bit rough around the edges. There were a bunch of kids playing in the pool so we passed on that amenity, though it was nice that there was a bar/restaurant with a covered patio area adjacent to have some drinks and snacks poolside.

We had no hot water for 3 days, as our shower was broken and was never repaired after numerous calls to the Front Desk. Two different staff members of the hotel came to the room but neither were able to repair what seemed to require only the show on/off/heat/cold mechanism be replaced which should have been an easy fix. Take out the pin and replace with a new one. From experience should have taken a little over an hour. After 2 days of cold shower we asked for a vacant room to shower but never heard back from the front desk. A large motel complex so they should have had replacement parts on hand. Very disappointing stay and cannot recommend.

We have stayed here a few times and found it to be acceptable. This time was disappointing. I asked for an extra towel two days (3 times on the second day) in a row and never received any. The hair conditioner dispenser didn’t work. There’s an iron but no ironing board. There was no hair dryer.
