The first time we stayed, it was excelent. Totally worth 150$. 2nd time we stayed, 200 a night and we got a room which the bathroom was completely destroyed. Door was broken, faucet was broken, shower wouldnt drain, toilet handle was inaccessable. Just ruined the stay. Management said they inherited the property like that.

Desert Lodge is just a basic no frills motor inn that provides a comfortable bed and shower . Thats it. Dont expect anything fancy. That is was Desert Lodge is. I recommend that if you are concerned that you may not like the room ask to see the room before paying. The pictures can exaggerate what you may or may not like about the property. I just needed a cheap place to stay for a week and thats it.

Honestly, the rooms are in very bad condition; they're not clean, the drawers are broken, the sheets are dirty, and the floor has holes. And the bathroom? Don't even get me started. But the receptionist and the staff in general are very friendly, but I won't be staying at that hotel again.

Person at counter was very nice. But thr room had water stains and peeled paint on the ceiling, homeless folks were living there, and everything looked neglected. Nicely located but i won't stay there again.

Building has a lot of patching and needs painting on the entire building. Room has terrible incomplete paint job throughout. Looks like a five year old tried to paint. Shower curtain was moldy. TV and remote control did not work. One of the bed lights did not work. Towels were thin and felt like sand paper. Unable to clearly see out of windows. You should remove this place from Hotels.com. The pictures on the website did not properly represent this property. There were no smoke alarms in the room.

Sometimes when I book a last-minute trip to Palm Springs, I’m not chasing luxury—I’m chasing cheap, clean, and close to downtown. Prices here swing wildly depending on season, heat, and whatever festival is in town. I’d driven past the Desert Lodge for years in its great South Palm Canyon location but never stayed—until last weekend, when it was the cheapest option by far.
The exterior looks like it’s been on pause since about 1960, with mid-century breeze blocks and a green painted pool deck that has seen some times. The entrance features cracked asphalt that gently encourages you to manage expectations. The outdoor staircase and hallway are tired but sturdy, like a motel that refuses to retire.
Inside, the room was basic but functional: working fridge and AC, a flat-screen TV, beat-up furniture, and a bathroom that’s lived a full life. Highlights included a brand-new bargain Home Depot toilet, a decent showerhead, and towels that were small, scratchy, and clearly nearing the end of their careers.
And then—surprise—the room was spacious, the new vinyl plank flooring was actually clean, and the king-size bed was shockingly comfortable, Hyatt-level comfortable. Either I got lucky, or the mattress got the entire renovation budget.
Rough around the edges? Absolutely. But for the price, location, and unexpectedly great sleep, the Desert Lodge gets the job done—just bring your own towel.

Horrible motel. Checked in at 330pm told room won’t be ready until after 5pm. Could hear people screaming and being vulgar all night long so we barely slept. Room was horrible. Dirty. Doors with duct tape on them, holes in the ceiling. Shower had mold and used/open complimentary shampoo/conditioner/soap which was amusing since the room had to be cleaned and delayed out check in. Shower water would not turn off, knob was broken. 1 towel for a room that slept 4, nothing else, just 1 towel that wasn’t folded so unsure if it was even clean. Exposed wires all over the place. No outlet covers. Would have slept better in the car. Relaxing getaway turned into a final destination like nightmare. Kept waiting for someone to bust down our door with how loud and horrible it was all night. Some lady screaming F-bombs, the N word, and talking about f-ing people up. Tried calling the front desk, phone didn’t work and didn’t feel safe leaving the room after dark. Never never ever again!!! I have pictures of the room disaster to back this up too. Travelers beware!

This place is old and in need of serious repair. Holes in the walls, furniture is old and beat up. Bedding had cigarette burns in it. TV is ridiculously small. Bathroom was old and beat up.

Rooms are abit stuffy and hot, even with the AC pumping. The beds are big and spacious, abit stiff. Shower has strong pressure, but would benefit from in-room body shampoo gel. But again, on a budget and mind your business, easy place to stay.

The property was dirty and smelly when checking in. I was going to give them a chance. We made our way to the room and there was garbage laying in the hallway. We opened our room and the smell was atrocious. It was a musty moldy smell. It must off been an adjoining room, but they had that door duct taped around the edges. I wouldn’t even set my suitcase on the ground. We turned around and walked out. There were some shady people hanging around and we couldn’t get out of there fast enough. My note to SEL is always stay in a reputable chain hotel. Never again!

Place its really dirty and in bad condition, fridge does not work, AC is full of dust, both of my beds were badly stain of something brown, ice machine does not work with posible meldew. a non smoking room smells like cigarettes everywhere, in my whole weekend i didnt get the room clean a single time, no clean towel and toilet got clog. To make this worse place charge me extra to day I check in just for getting double twin bed instead of a king bed.

The room was filthy. Blood stains on the sides of both of the beds. Yellow and brown smears and stains on the walls near the vanity area and bathroom. Walls looked like they’d never been cleaned. Tub looked like it had never been cleaned. Comforter on bed was dusty and stained. Pillows seemed clean, but they were extremely cheap and uncomfortable. Tv worked but it was very small and old. Room was quiet. Parking was easy. The outside of the property looked nice, but the inside was rundown and not well maintained. I would not stay here again.

Please look at the guest pictures! The pictures the hotel provided are just catfishing. The hotel is so run down. The inside of our room door had tape on the lock. I had to put the chair in front of it to feel somewhat safe. The beds had questionable stains. The feet on the beds were bending. Thank goodness I took blankets for my baby. The fridge had mold. This was the worst hotel I have ever been to. It looked abandoned there was trash everywhere and people working on cars in the lot. Not many people there to begin with and upon entering the room it smelled horrible and looked like insect secretions on the floor of the bathroom and the mattresses on the beds had blood on them.There were many other issues too many to include but we did take plenty of pictures to validate our claims. We promptly reported this to Expedia on that day as we had to seek other more costly last minute accommodations and were told that we would soon hear back. It was not until we returned that I recontacted Expedia for a follow up and the person helping told us that we were going to have to pay for one night on two rooms totaling over $300. We would not want an animal to stay there and were very disappointed in the fact that Expedia would even have this hotel on it's site.I made this fact known to the rep helping and at first he was pleasant and when we said that we would not even pay $1 his attitude changed. I feel the pictures Expedia has of this hotel are misleading . The pictures were from many years ago and if we had known would not have booked there. This was a very sad circumstance in that we went to Palm Springs to celebrate my daughter;s 21st birthday and to have the special day ruined was unforgiveable. I am also reporting this hotel to the local Health Department and will be seeking legal advice to go forward.

This is the type of hotel you should pay under 100 or even 70 a night. I paid 200 for a place that was a lot more dirty than sleeping outside. Very scary. Very dirty, the restroom door had a hole! We tried to check-in at 3:30 pm and our room wasn’t ready. We arrived back at 8 pm and we were told our room still wasn’t ready. Thankfully the manager came out and found us a room. The room was dark and dirty.

Be honest, this property is not perfect. You get what you paid for. But the bed is comfortable. No bed bugs. Microwave and fridge in the room. That asve you money if you don't wanna eat out. This place is fine if you are a budget traveler.

The hotel looked run down when I pulled up. I got into town early and tried to see if I could get an early check in. They told me I could not (which is fine) and said the room would be ready at 3:30 even though check in was 3. When I came back to check in I grabbed my room keys and proceeded to the room. I walked in and the curtain rods were broken, the room looked awful. I didn’t even want to put my things on the bed. I look in the bed and someone’s hair scrunchy was still in it with a lot of their hair. I was maybe there for a total of 5 minutes before I booked another hotel down the street and left. I have stayed at hostels nicer than this.

I don’t ever trust the photos, but these ones are so far off from the actual it’s almost fiction. That said, no bed bugs or pests but all in all not clean or well kept. The owners stated they just bought this place and had plans to upgrade and clean up. For the price point though it’s not good value for the money. The owner is super nice and I do hope they upgrade and clean up. I wouldn’t stay there again unless it was upgraded.

When we requested a new blanket, it arrived in the same condition as the first one. The bathroom was unkept and we had to ask for a microwave. There is no coffee or tea station. Upon trying to check out after 8am, we couldn’t reach anyone. There was a had written sign to ring the bell but the bell was just a broken piece of plastic. There was a phone by the office and in the room. Tried to call 0 to reach someone and it rang busy. Ended up having to leave the key in the room with the maid service sign on the door. The staff were kind but it’s not somewhere I would stay again unless desperate.

The owner was very nice and welcoming. The overall property was pretty run down on the exterior. My room was clean and in decent repair. The cable didn’t appear to work on our television. We didn’t bother making an issue of it. The beds were pretty saggy. It was quiet. I don’t think I would return but the experience wasn’t terrible and the price was very low compared to other hotels in the area.

Half of their rooms are remodeled and the other half is sooooo shady and has holes and poo stains on the floor... I was lucky to complain and got a better room but, what?... This property needs major renovations cleaning and repairs. AC unit took six hours each day to cool down. The curtains had many holes including burn holes. There are no screens on the windows. No bathmat. No hand towels. No washcloths. Mold on shower curtain. Hot water took at least five minutes to arrive. Shower curtain rod barely stays up. The microwave was missing a leg. The tv stations would freeze up every 10 minutes or so. The floor was dirty. Under the bed hadn’t been swept. There’s no security peep hole or chain lock on the door. There’s no ice available, machine is broken. Pool had much floating stuff from trees.

The owner was friendly, but the room was dirty. The toilet was dirty and the beds were in poor condition. The floors were also dirty and the wash clothes and towels were so thin u could see through them when they were wet. They also hurt your skin when using them to wash up and dry off. The refrigerator was warm until we figured out how to adjust the temperature because the numbers were rubbed off the temperature dial. We could not watch tv because the satellite or whatever the tv was running with kept freezng up every 2 minutes during a program. The pool was dirty so we couldn't swim. The ice machine was broken. The price was ok, but the hotel could use a lot of improvement on the cleanliness and amenities.

The staff here is very friendly and easy to do businesss with. The hotel has a very relaxing and laid-back feel and I felt comery comfortable throughout my stay here. The same cannot be said about other hotels I've recently experienced where the staff/management can be cold and unwelcoming. I highly recommend staying at Desert Lodge.

Expedia should remove this hotel from its listing. It was literally the worst place I’ve ever stayed. The AC was full of dust. The windows were screwed not allowing to open for fresh air. The window curtains were dirty. Bathroom completely outdated. Walls and ceiling full of patches. We removed the sheet covers and mattress full of stains. And no words to describe the mattress base.

Check in was a breeze! On 1st glance, It has a quaint, rustic exterior, but don't let that dissuade you. Opening the door using the latest technology in card reader, tap and turn the knob. Reveals an updated interior modern design and the comfortable bed. Be careful adjusting the arm of TV bracket. My TV almost crashed onto the furniture because one side is not turned equally as tight as the other and I wasn't aware until it began slipping. Thankfully though it didn't rush crash and I was able to connect my HDMI cable and Roku device to access additional Entertainment options. The owner is pleasant and helpful & I think I woke himup early to extend my stay.
