Clean and well equipped room. Very friendly staff. Amazing location with fabulous views and atmosphere. However, we didn’t go to breakfast at the resort restaurant after being scared off by the food poisoning reviews (lots of them) on google but no issue ourselves. We went to the Monkey Bar instead, which is next door which was excellent. The illnesses could however be linked to people going in the sea as the monkey bar had no such reviews and is linked to a hotel with a pool so perhaps less people going in the sea! The area needs a sewage system and after heavy rain there was obvious signs that sewage was discharging near the pick up and drop off boats which you have to wade to!!! Yes this can occur in any country but there were several signs of sewage directly entering the beach even before the storms.
I do recommend this place as overall its more quiet that Railay but you need to manage the situation to stay well. If you need western standards then visit this place as a day trip as it is a fabulous environment overall and a cool hangout for climbers. You can also avoid the boat sewage by walking the easy short scramble from Railay West but this can be subject to tide unless you’re happy to get a bit wet. Overall a fabulous place!

Things to watch for. Upon check in there’s a 5% charge on the bill for using a credit card. Unless you are a series rock climber there’s nothing much to do. The longboats try and rip you off. Take cash as I didn’t see any ATMS and a couple of times paying for food/dinner cash only. That said rooms were very clean staff lovely. Would I go back… No

I did not like that the 5% surcharge for using credit card for hotel room fees wqs not disclosed up front when booking via expedia. 5% is alot to charge on room fee espcially when it is not disclosed in advance. Unacceptable and dishonest by hotel and expedia not to make this clear when booking the rooms.

We loved the location. Very secluded from the neighboring Raily and Ao Nang beaches. The room was very comfortable and AC worked great. They also had a decent breakfast buffet and restaurants. The front staff was nice, but the restaurant attendants could be more attentive to customers. Transportation from the resort was also not easy to get. Although they had a dedicated long boat, we rarely saw it near the resort and you had to pay extra if you did not have at least 6 passengers. I feel this should be included with the stay.

5 nights at Tonsai and I would definitely go back. Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Restaurant was good. Ocean front breakfast was so peaceful. Off season so only handful of people around. Climbing access on the beach cant be beat. Definately checkout old Basecamp and local food options in jungle above resorts.

This place gave me and my wife food poisoning. They are very unclean. Such a beautiful place but do not eat anything. Bring your own food or only eat chips. I would never go back because of how many people get food poisoning. Don’t go unless you want to be deathly sick it’s not worth it. Look up online how many people have gotten sick there. I had to learn the hard way and it ruined our trip.

Resort was great, except strange bathroom. Problem with rating is getting to and from resort. Low tide, boats have difficulty getting in and out. It made a paradise like Tonsai Bay, and the resort, a bit different to maneuver. All in all, resort was fine.

Beautiful but must take long boat to get there!

Very modern and lovely rooms/cottages. Staff very nice. Close to climbing and fun beach bar and kayaking. It's a little tricky to get here. You have to take a long boat from the Ao Nang area to Railay beach and then go to Tonsai Bay from there.

A fabulous stay.... Waking up on a bay, jungle-like environment in a peaceful and quiet place was the best experience. While walking through the resort and the bay you'll see the cheeky monkeys playing around the roofs and trees. The staff was extremely helpful and kind, we thought it won't be easy to get to the resort by boat but the staff planned our airport pick-up and boat and everything went smoothly -even at night time!
If you don't want to leave the Bay to get to AO Nang beach for the evening, don't worry you get beach bar and other places to get drinks and food until 11pm.
We truly enjoyed the time in Tonsai Bay and we highly recommend this property.

This was a really nice hotel, super close to the beach and climbing area. The AC worked great and room was very clean. The staff were very nice and were able to accommodate cleaning our room at a specific time since I was sick for 2 days in the room. Breakfast was provided and had lots of great options with an amazing view.

I had a delightful stay at Tonsai Bay Resort. The room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. I really enjoyed the balcony and sitting in the afternoon breeze. Tonsai Bay is beautiful and peaceful (Ao Nang and Krabi are crowded and touristy.) The villa was very pleasant. Bathroom is basic but functional. Very nice to have a patio to sit outside. The restaurant at the resort is fabulous and it was wonderful to enjoy meals with the ocean view. Thai massage and kayaking available right from the resort. Boat rides to Ao Nang and around the islands from the other end of the beach. Beware that boats require 8 people, so sometimes there’s a long wait, unless you are willing to pay extra to cover the empty seats.

First off the views are absolutely incredible, and the staff are amazing. We had a deluxe villa and would highly recommend coughing up the extra bucks to do so, so amazing. The free breakfast everyday was unbelievable and a perfect way to start your day. If you want a relaxing experience in the Railay/TonSai area, especially if you’re a climber, you must stay at Ton Sai Bay Resort.

It clean, right on the beach and we had a super lovely stay.

The resort has only one restaurant- and it was a bit hit and miss. For example flies all over the breakfast buffet, food taking forever to come out and orders been forgotten.

Please note at low tide you can’t really swim due to how rocky the beach becomes. Also when coming to or from the resort you will likely get wet feet

Best resort on Tonsai beach

If you don't like staying at a backpacker's hostel then this pretty much is the only option on Tonsai beach that offers all of the creature comforts - though no swimming pool.

We stayed in a bungalow - 2 families per bungalow. There are also single-family bungalows available right across the alley.

The views from the restaurant terrace are great - having breakfast while watching climbers tackle the steep cliffs. There are 2 climbing stores. This is the place to stay for going climbing - if you can afford it.

Note though that getting to this beach is by boat only - there is no land transport. Also, there is only one ATM located on another beach - 20 mins of scrambling over rocks - so bring enough cash for food. Also be weary of having drinks with ice. My wife good food poisoning from some ice cubes.

This hotel keeps the power on longer than others!

The front desk staff and the guy who drives the cart and works the front desk are all very nice. This is the nicest option on Tonsai beach hands down.

They keep the air conditioning and the power on all day during more months than the others. We switched from this resort to a cheaper one and switched right back because that place shut their power off all day when it was 91 degrees out.

This resort is the best option if you are there to experience the climbing area of the beach. If you don't stay there, you'll have to climb a sketchy ladder and go through an easy jungle path. The path is pitch black at night so bring a flashlight.

Tonsai bay resort has a private gate and have kinda been dicks about walling off a huge part of the entire little town. When we switched to the inferior hotel, we felt left out. It's kind of messed up that they put a huge wall around half of the island area but have only provided one scary ladder. If you're not athletic, you'll have to go around which is very far and has monkeys who will grab your shopping bags and take off.

The rooms attached to the lobby are more clean and updated looking than the bungalows. We had very little problems with bugs, just a couple flies. We did one night in the bungalow and it was much farther and not as updated or clean feeling but was more quiet. Bring earplugs if you plan on staying in the rooms attached to the lobby as it is very loud. No privacy from the toilet in the smaller rooms.

Disappointing.

Idyllic location but poorly maintained restaurant and bar. Staff in restaurant and bar have a bad attitude and general feeling is that you’re presence is burdensome. Front desk staff and cleaners were brilliant however. Food was reused from breakfast for a la carte meals in the evening. Both my partner and I got food poisoning, I suspect from re-heated rice.
Beach could be lovely but was not well maintained and littered. Overall felt that staff and locals were after ripping you off at any opportunity and not looking after their country, which is a shame.

So this is my issue with this hotel. When I was booking this place I never saw anywhere giving you an advise that this hotel was in a remote area. After arriving from Phuket by ferry I had to take another boat to Railay. When I thought we were done, me and my husband that does speak Thai we're looking the famous hotel everywhere but after getting al wet with the heavy rain a very nice staff from a hotel called railey bay resort told us that we needed to take another boat to tonsai. After almost 30 minutes we found a boat rider that charged us 100b but we have to drag our bags to the far end for a 4 min ride. When finally we saw the hotel driver didn't want to drop us off on front, we have to once again drag our bags thru the sand till the hotel. At this point we were so tired but we didn't have other options. Finally we arrived to front desk, kind of far from pier, checking was smooth and staff were nice but the more bad news were coming, NO electricity from 9am until 5pm. I literally wanna to explode of furious but my husband calmed me down. I was very disappointed for everything, why can they just have a little boat at least from railey to the hotel it's common sense if you are in a remote area. Why no electricity because you are in low season ?? Why we gotta be affected Just have a power plan. We have to leave the next day back to mainland since that place was awful and empty without things to do except the beach and rock climbing. No recommended for my taste.

Beautiful bungalows in a very pretty, secluded bay- only reachable by boat ( which I don't recall seeing in the hotels.com blurb). This can be a problem if you are leaving outside of the high tide times for the airport, or in low season whereby you'd have to pay 800 but for the hire of the whole long tail boat- again not something I knew. But, it's beautifully situated and there are some pretty beaches easily reached along the sea front or through trees. The restaurant is ok- it was the first time we encountered less than lovely staff, as they appeared bored and really not interested. Food is average and u less you venture into the more 'hippy/rick climbing' scene it's all there is. The bar is very basic but has a nice atmosphere and it's a great place to watch the amazing climbers!

Hotel staff was efficient and friendly. Close to the beach. Quieter than alternative options on Railay Beach. You get what you pay for. Bathrooms were in typical Thai fashion, shower toilet sink all in same small space. Not a luxury hotel by any means but comfortable enough. Breakfast offered was best we received in Thailand. Neighboring monkeys and cliff views were a plus.

Experience a lot of thing such as indoor & outdoors activties ..

Transportation are very conveniece to get from one point to another..
You even can taking a lot photo with a good scenery as trying from Sunrise to Sunset.and with a lot of good spot to be Selfie..

Fun location, but that's about it

We had a \"deluxe\" room that seemed like a hostel room. Bathroom was run down and water tempurature would fluctuate from cold to burning hot. Our friend's \"superior\" room had a leaking toilet and the door would not close all the way. The area has many mosquitos so closed doors are a must. Hotel breakfast was ok, but food was surrounded by flies which I'm not sure if it was avoidable but it was very unappetizing.

Perfect Hotel for our stay

The room was clean and spacious. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The wifi was a little spotty but the hotel staff said that it only worked in the lobbly and restaurant. Our room was near the lobbly so the wifi worked in our room.
There could be more information about how to get to the location. Maybe whenever a customer books a reservation the hotel sends an automated email telling them how to get there.
There also could be more information in the rooms about what there is to do in Tonsai and how to get to Railay.

Ton Sai Bay Resort

The team was amazing. The manager/owner went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We got in close to the front desk closing hour, so she sent a golf cart to pick us up. When my fiancé cut her foot, the manager/owner came with us to the clinic to make sure everything was OK (she also helped a bit with translation). Everyone was extremely friendly. There was excellent rock climbing and easy access to Railay west/east if you're looking for a change of pace.

We enjoyed the breakfast out my the beach and it was nice having such a short walk to go climbing everyday. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Ton Sai has changed...

When we arrived at Ton Sai beach, we were appalled by the condition of the beach itself. Garbage everywhere, really gross. We walked from the long boat to the hotel, and while the beach-side restaurant and bar were nice, after check-in we walked through a pretty disrupted area (lots of dust and construction and trash) from the beach front area up to the bungalows. The bungalow was very nice.

Later, we learned that Ton Sai beach has recently changed. A resort bought up much of the beach, displacing the bars that were beach front (and whose staff kept the beach clean). The resort also built a HUGE wall between the Ton Sai Bay resort and their site - hence the construction materials everywhere.

Once you get up into the valley, Ton Sai is very much like it's description - a funky, burning man-like community. But it is undergoing a LOT of change right now.

We actually didn't stay - got to our room - then left and went to Railay Beach. Ate the cost of the room to have a better (although more touristy) beach experience.

Much of this isn't the hotel's fault - but it does mean that any review of Ton Sai beach more than a few months old doesn't convey what's really happening there now.

Nice hotel, close to climbing

Overall this is a great place to stay if you are a climber as it is close to a lot of the great climbing. It might not be the best for non-climber families (Railay West seemed to have more of a family vacation vibe). Breakfast is included in the room rate and is quite good. Of the Tonsai Bay resorts, this one is closest to the beach. The bungalows are cute and nice and come with mosquito nets over the beds. They give you new towels everyday, so after the 1st day, you'll have extras to use at the beach. (They will take the used towels each day too, but seemed to be ok with us keeping some). The staff is very nice and accommodating, though their english isn't the best. Still, we could usually communicate well enough. The restaurant is pretty good and the prices are cheaper than the restaurants on Railay Beach. We found it safest to drink only bottled water. We tried filtering the tap water with a camping water purifier, but got sick on the 2nd night, switched to the bottled water and stayed healthy the rest of the trip. We also tried buying the big re-fillable jugs of water that are supposed to be filled with water filtered through a big fancy purifier, but unfortunately it had green floaty things in it and seemed less clean than the water we filtered ourselves. Sad. We wanted to avoid buying bottled water to reduce plastic waste, etc, but we also wanted to enjoy our trip and not be sick the whole time.

We loved staying here. The room was all we needed, clean and tidy with a nice balcony to relax on in the evenings. Perhaps more geared for younger climbers, we still enjoyed our stay here. Right on the beach with plenty of great restaurants and shops within walking distance in the Bay. We walked to Railay beach twice by taking the track at the end of the beach, not too difficult.

Decent room, bring your deet

You get what you pay for, a decent place with AC. The bathroom is old and a lil grungy, no hot water. The sliding door has no seal- so watch out for the mosquitos that come out (in your room) between 5-8pm. The bug net had so many holes in it- so bring duct tape to patch it or use deet before bed. The staff (older male) was extremely rude when we asked to stay another night. Food is mediocre.
