A bit rough round the edges. USB power points didnt work. Some dirty marks in bathroom needed cleaning. Toilet in reception out of action for 24 hrs due to poo 💩 all over the floor - is it residents only toilet?

The room was over priced by $110/night The sofa foot was fixed , but the block off wood stuck out 75mm to 100mm just enough to stub your toes on.the bathroom was well dated. No vanity / cupboard storage. The light fitting over where your suitcase is stored was completely smash so you couldn't see inside the suitcase.

The rooms are extremely run down and very basic. Everything is clearly on the cheap and nasty side. Stained couches, bath tubs flaking paint, dirty stained refrigerator. The toilet paper supplied was worse than the Perth public toilets. The food buffet was good.

Tired rooms, especially bathrooms. Poor value

This hotel is really tired and is situated in the 'ghetto' end of Perth.
I had to change room because there was only a trickle of water from the shower (and no temp control). And when I tried to report it, the phone was faulty.
Bathrooms and fittings are original (1985).
For the price they charge, its an awful option. Never again

Great central location, within the free CAT zone, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel and only a 5-minute walk from the train station. The staff were friendly and helpful, and I was pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade at check-in. The room was spacious, featured a balcony, and offered a nice open view.
While the stay was comfortable, the hotel would benefit from some renovations, particularly in the bathroom.

Advantages: Good location and spacious room.
Disadvantages: Poor management of hotel facilities. Shower by standing in bathtub with clogged drain, which was unacceptable. Cleaners incompetent and failed to carry out their job. Returned to room in evening and had to alert duty receptionist, which showed lack of cleaning supervision.

Mercure on Hay is a convenient location. Staff great on arrival and not to far to walk into town. Good restaurant available downstairs.
Rooms need a revamp but old and tired looking.
Didn't like I got charged an additional $40 at check-out for paying using a credit card and got told it was a booking fee from Expedia. Thankfully the checkout clerk advised that was incorrect and refunded it. If he wasn't there we wouldn't have known and been charged the extra.

Very Disappointing Hotel Stay

My room was in extremely poor condition. Although management claimed that renovations were underway, I saw no evidence of this. The bathroom was particularly unhygienic—the bathtub was dirty and stained, while the floor tiles’ grout, which should have been light grey, was nearly black. Several fittings were loose on the walls, and the shower tap was loose, allowing water to enter into the wall.

On the first day of our stay, my wife suffered from food poisoning and required medical attention from a nurse. As compensation, the hotel offered us six complimentary breakfasts. However, given our experience, we were unwilling to risk further illness and chose to dine elsewhere instead.

Additionally, we prefer having breakfast in our room, but this hotel does not offer in-room breakfast service, which was an inconvenience.

Overall, our experience was disappointing, and we expected a much higher standard of cleanliness and service.

On arrival, the member of staff was lovely, however, I did NOT like the self check- in. A four star hotel should not have such an impersonal first impression. The room itself, although was clean, it was tired and very dated.

It was cleaned to an ok standard but is in need of updating. The restaurant is very slow service with below average food and high prices but the breakfast is really good.
The service is awful!! 24 hour reception took 27 calls prior to answering and was then told to come to reception to collect extra coffee/sugar because only one staff on duty.
Check in and check was simple and efficient using self check in.
Far too highly priced even for NYE for condition and service levels.

The most disappointing thing about our stay was that they had acknowledged my request for adjoining rooms, as I was travelling with my elderly mum, back in August. Turning up for check-in I'm told by the manager that they'd overbooked and we could either have cheaper adjoining rooms with no balcony, or 2 separate rooms with balconies. I would think that once the hotel acknowledges your request for a specific room type, they would then reserve it for you. If it's the case where they're unable to reserve the room, then at the very least to inform us prior to arrival that they can't honour the request. After a heated exchange with the manager who decided that my 73 year old mum was accusing him of cheating us, to which he threatened to cancel our booking altogether, I de-escalated the situation, with him finally upgrading our rooms to King with balconies side by side and free breakfasts. So although the solution was favourable to us in the end, it was unfortunate to have travelled all the way we did to encounter this issue on check-in. It did leave a sour taste when having any interaction with the staff. The rooms themselves were dated and in need of renovations. Stains in the toilet, a constantly running cistern, a quarter panel bathtub shower which sprayed water everywhere. The balcony door was broken and unable to be locked. The air conditioner had a mind of its own and was either freezing cold or blowing hot air. Housekeeping didn't replace used coffee cups. The list goes on

Central Stay

Check in was guided Self Service and i checked out myself. My double bed was huge, clean and room was spacious. Big Bathroom with good warm water shower and amenities. The breakfast included was delicious and provided variety of cooked and fresh fruit, pastries etc. I had a wonderful view of St Mary's Cathedral and the Perth Hospital from my 9th floor balcony and window. Mercure on Hay is very central to all the sights and can walk there.
