The moment we part to go to our room there were syringes in the parking lot and my wife has never stepped on one that's the first thing number two there's no towels TV doesn't work stains all over the bed stains on the mattress cockroaches manager was not cooperative. As soon as I walked into the room, I knew I had made a mistake. The picture you see on the advertisement is definitly not what you get. I felt I walked into a old seedy room like you see on a TV show. The front door looked like it had been previously kicked in and did't close properly leaving a 3/4 inch gap at the bottom that allowed a big cold constant draft in. I had to keep the heater on at 75 degrees to compensate. The headboard had greasy fingerprints all over, the bathroom was dirty and did'nt have toilet paper and on top of that it had no hot water. the room reaked of cigarrettes and there were people hanging out throughout the night out front and speaking loudly. needless to say it was a sleepless night.

The staff were helpful, but the room was very, very dirty. I should have read the other google reviews, but my experience from past Red Roof Inn stays several years ago were all very good. This has to be one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at in North America. Many flies in the room when I arrived, sheets and bedding had stains, neigboring lodgers were into drugs and partying which made it hard to sleep and feel safe.

I reserved a room here because I needed somewhere for a few hours while while some work was being done at my apartment. I didn't expect anything fancy. I can't say one specific thing about this place that was horrible. It, in general, just felt like somewhere I didn't want to get comfortable. I definitely would not have felt comfortable sleeping there. The only bugs I saw were about a dozen stink bugs that were there when i got there. I didn't see anything else (granted, I sure wasnt looking) but wouldn't have been surprised to learn if there were more than just stink bugs. While it was the cheapest room in the area, it probably should have been half the price.

I booked a room online and couldn't check in at night. I went in the morning and they wouldn't let me in or give me the keys. They told me I had to rebook (I didn't, I went to another hotel). and when I asked for a refund for the three nights, they just said no, even though I was still paying for a room that they wouldn't let me into and never gave me the keys for. the manager was unprofessional and dismissive of guests’ concerns

New owners. Hotel is a run down. First room the air quit in the night. Moved to a different room the next day. Then we noticed the outside door jam had been “fixed”. The fix was not a solid fix and could have easily kicked open again. We will never choice a Red Roof hotel again.

Was very easy to hear others being loud through walls and floors, through windows even. Beds were abnoxiously creaky, the fire alarm was beeping for batteries, absolutely ridiculous. The beds are obnoxiously uncomfortable and the pillows feel like absolutely nothing. The room was quite shoddy looking and just generally in bad condition. Rust all over the place, chipped and gouged walls and paint, fridge was old and not sitting correctly, floor was beat up and gross, it was just not very nice, clean like bedding tho I guess. Not only is the general area around this kinda sketch but I went with my cousin and while pulling in there was someone who gave us the death stare like he wanted us dead, hiding his hands. About an hour ish after we showed up to the room we got quite extremely aggressive knocking on our door by a man in a pizza outfit and holding a completely empty pizza bag. We were absolutely terrified and pretty sure man wanted to rob us. I would never go back here for any reason and suggest you don't either. I promise you it's not worth it.

I canceled my stay once I got there. I didn’t feel I would be comfortable or safe staying there. It’s in the bee like there was a criminal activity around the place. It also was further away from where I was going than expected. All the highway construction, made it extremely difficult to get to traveling through the neighborhoods.

When I booked this I thought i was getting a guaranteed room. When I reached the property, no one was at the front desk and then when they finally showed up, they didn’t have my room reserved. Luckily I was able to receive a refund through hotels.com. Once the room was cancel and refunded, the front desk magically had a room available. I went and looked at the room and it was disgusting! Dirty, noisy ac unit, dead cockroaches in the bathroom and the smell was awful

There was nothing good at all! This hotel needs to be condemned! They were trying to do major renovations while renti g rooms! They were grinding rusty railing and ceiling supports. When they saw us pull up to our room they stopped. But as soon as we went in they started again covering my truck with rust and paint debris. Then there was one of the workers with a leaf blower that blew crap under our door and into our room! I moved my vehicle then they kept grinding until after 6 pm! We thought they would be done, but then they started again bright and early the next morning waking us up!! I went to the front deskand they told us the place changed hands 7 days prior and they said they could've close to do the repairs that they probably wouldn't pass inspection for reopening! So why in the hell wouldn't they say that when i made my reservation!! Or why would they rent rooms anywhere near all this mess!!

The Red Roof Inn in Benton Harbor- St Joseph was unsafe, very bad maintained and dirty. We made the reservation through Travelocity and when we checked in, all I had to do was give my name to the person at the front desk. They did not ask for an ID or anything. We had to go to drive around to the second building and there was lots of garbage on the outside and on the stairs and outside corridor to get to our room. The room door did not have the inside safety lock. There were handprints on the walls and headboard. The wall to the bathroom had indentations where you can see they had been parched up from a hole but it was not done correctly. In the bathroom, there was no soap/shampoo in the dispenser, nor were any towels provided. We couldn't find another room at a different hotel for that night so we stayed, but I will never stay at another Red Roof Inn again.

Check you room first! The first room I was given had a dirty bathroom, including a wet wash cloth in the soap holder. Completely unacceptable. The second room was unsafe- a used wash cloth was on the ground in front of the door, which was already propped open! I went back to the front desk to inform they still didn't have it right. I was finally given an accessible room. It was clean enough, though I don't think the floors had been mopped all summer. The bed was like cardboard.There's a Walmart across the parking lot in case you may want to purchase cleaning or other items to compliment your stay.

The bathroom was the worst I had ever seen in a hotel room in my entire life!!!!!!!!!! And we are world travelers who have just returned from Europe. The toilet was as full of feces as you can imagine. The toilet was also broken and a dirty wash rag was in it. The new management was apologetic and had to move us to a new room, but it lacked Kleenex, any cups at all, and any“””blankets. This hotel is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. There was no light above the vanity. It was missing. The bed sheets had cigarette burns on them. The floor was so sticky. Who knows what was on there. Walls so dirty. No towels, toilet paper or anything. The bathroom needed serious remodeling. Tiles were coming off. Holes in the walls. I could go on and on about this horrible and nasty hotel. Arrived from driving three hours away and had to wait two hours in lobby while front desk had to resolve check in issue. While sitting in lobby every single guest was quoted different room prices. A couple came in to get a room and their other friend pulls down her pants and starts peeing right infront of the front door. Man on our balcony was in his underwear smoking pot, another man rolling around on the ground in entrance to upstairs balcony on what I’m assuming heroin or another hard drug. Super unsafe place for families and small children. Toilet barely flushed, floor was disgusting, moldings around tub all cracked and moldy, mirrors dirty, pillow case had huge stain on it, fridge looked like it was pulled out of trash dump and room smelled like cigarettes. Never again in my life would I ever stay at a red roof! Staying in that room made my skin crawl. Owner which I’m assuming, did nothing to help his employee with anything he just stood next to her taking personal phone calls loudly all while she was trying to take care of my check in, other guests, and the hotel phone. Very unprofessional.

Had to kill a cockroach within a minute of entering our room. The panel on the AC unit was broken off, missing, and the internal electronics were exposed. The mattress had a thick uncomfortable plastic cover over it I can only assume was to limit the spread of bedbugs. There was a razor that was down the sink but partially exposed because the sink cover was also missing. No hand soap or body soap were provided. We booked from Thursday 7/3 until Sunday 7/6 but checked out Friday 7/4 because of the room’s condition. Apparently we weren’t able to get any refund at all because of a cancellation policy.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was unacceptable. The entire property was in complete disrepair — the grounds were neglected, overgrown, and dirty, setting the tone for what was to come.

The hotel room was truly disgusting. It smelled horrible the moment we walked in — like mildew and something worse. The furniture was old and literally falling apart, and there were visible stains on the sheets, pillows, and even the curtains. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in ages.

We didn’t feel comfortable touching anything, let alone sleeping there. It was honestly one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed.

Avoid at all costs — this place is in no condition to host guests.

Check in was nice and easy. Staff was very friendly. Then we went to the room...the ceiling in the outdoor hallway have serious water damage. The stairs had broken bolts that hold them together.The room was dirty. From the floors to the ceiling. The walls had some kind of black residue. You could see the light shining through the edges of the door (no weather seal) so you know bugs can just walk right in ( though thats the one positive thing i can say. I didnt SEE any bugs). The sheets had crumbs inbetween them. How do fresh sheets get crumbs between them? We went to a near by store and bought a cheap set of sheets. The bathroom was just as nasty. There were several vehicals in the parking lot that never moved. Appeared to be abandoned or lived in. Would not recommend.

It was disgusting, extremely dirty my daughter was barefoot walking around the room no more than 10 mins her feet were black from the dirtiness of the floor. The shower looked super nasty I couldn’t even look at it the mirror where you brush your teeth had stains all over it. My bed comforters had small black hairs. The base board was dirty when you open the drawers they were disgusting and dirty !! And the worst part it’s suppose to be 100% smoke free it smelt so horrible like old cigarette smell. I bough an air fresher to take the smell away because I am pregnant and that isn’t good for me and the smell would not leave. Truly a disgusting experience. If the room was atleast CLEAN. I would not mind anything else. The room looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in weeks.everything that has shelves table it was super dirty I took some pictures as well. I stayed two night and couldn’t get another room because they were all booked. I had no choice but to deal with the dirtiness. I would no recommend this no nobody especially if you have kids.

The online pictures must have been from at least a decade ago. Sadly, we arrived to holes in the wall, yellowed and mismatched bathroom fixtures, mismatched and stained linens (and no alternative available upon request because the on duty front desk person did not have a key to the linen closet and the person who did wouldn’t be in until at least 11pm). Pluses were…The room smelled of bleach, which I assume meant it had been cleaned, the price was low and both people I dealt were very nice. Probably wouldn’t stay there again though. I reserved through Expedia, and when i got there, they said because I reserved through Expedia and didnt get charged yet, they didnt have to hold my reservation. She said there was trash everywhere and the room was turned upside down. Kind of glad i didnt get the room i reserved. Plus the receptionist was quite rude and combative. Wont be returning.

Terrible and dangerous

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Asked for a non smoking room and it had burn holes everywhere and stunk like stale cigarettes. The shower did not work. I called the front desk and was told I had to wait until the manager came in at 10 am!! We couldn’t even wash the sand off of us or shower after a long hot day at the beach. Went to check out and talk to the manager and she just said thanks for letting us know your checked out. Not even I’m sorry or anything. The place is not safe!!! The people in the hotel are scary. Do not take your family there.

No coming back

I booked a 2 bed room and requested a first floor. The first unit #137 was in the back of the property and smelled like moldy and musty. The water pressure was a joke (non existent). Horrible.
Went to the lobby and told the front desk parsing that the room was unacceptable. Gave me a room on the second floor that was better but still dirty. The is poop on the wall across from the toilet. There was no soap and the Lewis liquid soap made a mess on the sink counter. Happy that i didn't bring my black light to see how dirty the room really was.

Floors were dirty. Sink was clogged when I got in the room. Which someone did come and fix who was respectful. The bed frames were broken and bent. The walls were filthy. Red stuff splattered all over it. The shower had dirt and hair in it

This was by far the WORST experience I’ve ever had at a hotel booked through Expedia. I would love a full refund either from the Red Roof Inn or Expedia. I did not feel comfortable in the area with so many people standing around outside and the night before I saw the office worker decline someone else looking to get their money back. I just toughed it out waiting for morning. The hotel looks rough and needs a lot of updates on the inside and outside. Our room was unacceptable. The bed had not been made, the floor and all surfaces were filthy. Dead cockroaches were all over the ground and the bathroom. One was found alive on our luggage in the morning. It was DISGUSTING. There was marker writing on our lampshade, the refrigerator was covered in something and had tape in place of a shelf on the inside. This place looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. In the morning we saw the “housekeeper” going into one of the rooms. All they had with them were sheets. No other cleaning supplies. I do not have a lot of money so I chose this for the price deal and I have to say I’d rather be more broke and have stayed in a nicer place. I would never stay again and I would implore others to not stay. Only thing that would make me happy is a refund.

Where do I begin… we stepped into our 100% smoke free environment that features cigarette ash covering the floor both headboards. In attempting to clean those off, we watched them fall to the floor where we noticed what I can only guess was the previous tenants sock. Being that we traveled for a few hours since our last stop, I rushed I to the bathroom to use it only to find a cockroach taking laps around the toilet bowl because the water was still running as the toilet float was stuck. To be honest, we were a little jealous considering the inn did not provide the same amenities to its regular guests. We immediately called the front desk to inform them it wasn’t us so we wouldn’t be charged and they quickly assured us they knew, as “they been having issues with that”. While I didn’t expect a complimentary stay, a discount would have been nice. Leaving the first morning, we stumbled over the neighbors takeout delivery they did not finish. While it is understandable it was not yet cleaned up, the fact that it remained nearly 12 hours later when we returned was a bit concerning! The shower had complimentary shampoo but no body wash. We’re guessing it was because the DollarTree towels they invested in were sure to exfoliate any skin that wasn’t cleaned. On the bright side, the poorly cleaned fridge did provide some sort of overflow from whatever fast food containers contents it had. But it was super cold! Overall, I would rate this stay at a 1 out of 10. Do not recommend!

Room was dingy and needed major updates. Ceiling looked like it was falling apart, floor was sticky, the room smelled very heavy of smoke, and the latch on the door would not lock. Felt unsafe staying in this area. We didn’t even use the shower because it was so dirty. This hotel is not worth the price. It needs to be heavily reduced or updated and maintained. Friendly service was the only thing there was to like unfortunately.

This place was absolutely nasty smelled of smoke carpet had cigarette ash on carpet nothing was clean except the bedding was white looked clean but very stinky . Room also smelled of mold or mildew. Def nasty .
