We liked everything about this property.
We will be telling others about Candlewood Suites. We will be staying again in the future. I really loved the cuboards and the fact that they were stocked with plates, cereal bowls, salad bowls etc. Drawers had silverware for for 2 people plus can opener etc. Stove refrigerator microwave. This is top notch. Staff was so polite and enjoyable too. We came down from Cheboygan MI for a funeral this made our trip worth it.

Rough night

We booked a suite and upon check in the room keys didn't work. I contacted the front desk and she said it was their only suite available to she let us into our room because she said the keys on this room haven't been working. Once checked in the TV didn't work, the heater/cooler wouldn't come on, the room smelled heavily of some kind of deodorizer. While brushing my teeth I noticed the bathroom sink was full of hair, like a man had shaved and the sink hadn't been cleaned.

The room was dirty. The stove and kitchen area is stained with prior spills. Several stains on the carpet. The hide-a-way mattress was atrociously dirty. The windows do not latch (quite a safety problem for a first floor room).

Small kitchen setup was nice. Included small 2 burner stove top, dishwasher, full fridge, microwave. Cabinets had dishes, utensils, and storage containers. There were no USB ports for charging, which do seem to be the standard in a lot of hotels, often in the lamp or alarm. The room smelled of fried clams, not sure if that was due to use of the kitchen by prior visitors or the LJS nearby. Either way, it was quite over powering and did not dissipate.

If this was a $60 a night hotel, I would have given it a much better ranking. For nearly $180/night, it’s very not worth it. The bed was obviously smaller than a queen, but slightly bigger than a full. It was also the second worst comfortable bed I’ve slept in outside of Army Basic Training. Our room smelled like urine, the common areas smelled like smoke, and they didn’t even provide hand soap in our room. I’d give this place a pass.

Spacious and comy

Not fancy, but a lovely place to stay for a a Michigan weekend! Both front desk employees we interacted with were kind and genuine. I was especially impressed by the 2nd employee we met. At check in, I forgot to confirm what time check out was, so I stopped by the front desk the last morning of our stay. When I asked, the employee responded with “it’s 11, but take your time! No rush.” And it was just such a lovely way to answer the question and change the tone of packing up.

Plenty of space and cool AC during the hot summer. Enjoyable stay over all!

I've stayed at many Candlewoods - I always enjoy getting a full sized fridge/freezer and a working kitchen - its a great perk.
Kitchen was lacking some supplies - only 1 fork in the drawer and some plastic forks to supplement. No drinking glasses, only 2 mugs.
The main complaint was the BED - I've never had this issue before. The king bed was completely sagging in the middle, and we kept rolling into the center. AT checkout, the clerk didn't seem concerned with how uncomfortable it was. She made a note to tell someone, but that was it.

Coffee maker had not been cleaned. Found an open pack of cheese snacks behind a chair. Half a roll of toilet paper. Liquid bath soap dispenser was empty. One of the power outlets was not functioning. Need I go on?

I have mixed opinions... on the one hand, the fitness center was great and the availability of laundry was great!! The staff was friendly and helpful! It was great that we could bring our dog.
But, the room was pretty dirty... crumbs on the floor, dirt in the foldaway bed, frig was sticky, there were fruit flies, and the garbage can was disgusting with old food and grime on the bottom.
We would not stay there again.

Everything seemed very clean. The suite we stayed in was very nice. We ask for bedding for the pull out and we got more than expected with a comforter and two pillows. It may have had something to do with the hotel not being very busy the weekend we stayed, but we were still very pleased with everything. I recommend.

Excellent rooms.

Beautiful rooms. The rooms truly are suites. Some hotels say suites, but this really was a suite with a full service kitchen and separate bedroom. Felt like a little apartment. Very clean. Safe. They offered many extra amenities. It would have been nice to have a free breakfast option in the morning, but they did have snacks available for purchase. We'll definitely be back.

We were in town to see family. The room was spacious. However, the bed was hard, like sleeping on the floor hard. They also weren't serving any kind of breakfast. They had items you could pay for, but no free breakfast. Good location though.

Always amazing!!

When I came in the receptionist greeted me with a smile. I asked if I could have a room with a tub since I forgot to do so during my booking. He gladly walked to my room with me to see if it had a tub. It didn’t so he quickly found another room for me that did.

He made sure I had all the extra towels etc. that I needed. He was sure to let me know if I needed anything to let it be known.

Such a great place to stay, that is why I stay at this location a few times a year.

Room was spotlessly clean! Front desk personnel wrre polite and professional. Room was well equiped with blow dryer, iron and ironing board, shamppo, conditioner and soaps. Bed was extremely comfortable. Convienent location off the highway! Will definitely use the hotel again. Only complaint i have is that during peak season, room rates almost triple making it unaffordable.

There were stains on the comforter and lipstick on the sheets. The soap and toilet paper were empty. When asked Scot our stay at check out, we politely started it was fine but....... Didn’t even get an apology. Didn’t get a response at all other than thank you. I don’t think she was even listening.

No ice machine. “ I could turn on the ice maker in my room and get some ice cubes in 2-3 hours or go buy some at a gas station”. Not what I was looking for after a 8 hour drive.

We stay in a lot of hotels & this was better than I ever expected. Clean, quiet, had a stove, dishwasher. Fridge, freezer. Was close to several places to eat. Definitely stay here again. Front staff was VERY PLEASANT!!!

Decent - No Frills Hotel

Our stay was very good. There are 4-concerns:
(1) We had to contact the Front Desk twice concerning a very, very noisy child next to us. (2) Having to bring our wash clothes and towels to the Front Desk to exchange for clean ones! (3) The available TV channels should be preselected. (4) The clocks on the microwave and radio should be set to the current time!

Servicing our Room weekly is a deterrent!

Quick stop over

We stopped here very late at night and left fairly early in the morning. It was a good place for us to stop for a quick overnight while on a road trip. Everything was fine. The elevator on the 2nd floor was broken though we didn't notice that and it came when we called it. This is really more of an extended stay hotel with a full kitchen. It was very comfortable and convenient in the sense that it was close to the highway. It was quite inexpensive as well.

Noisy appliances

Refrigerator was noisy, air conditioner fan sounded like a chainsaw. Woke up several times in the middle of the night.
