Me and my family stayed for 2 nights and it was a good experience. Our room was a double queen, we had a stove& oven, microwave, mini fridge, 2 sinks, extra pillow ect. The room was clean - traveling with an infant and toddler thats crucial to me. I have 3 downsides to the room we stayed in. We had a balcony and the door had not been maintenanced so it came off the hinges frequently making it hard to shut the door. Secondly, the bathroom door didnt shut either unless you pull up on the door knob. Lastly, we were staying in a secondary building called the waverly its off of the main building to the side and to get parking in front is slim to no chance. We had to park in the main gated parking lot which isn't terrible but its a walk with the children. But! Being in the secondary building put us away from the live band playing at night so i actually appreciated that for my boys to be able to sleep at night. Relatively small things but they do make a difference. These few things aside, I would stay here again. From the balcony we could see the beach and watch the waves. It was relaxing and much needed. The room was clean and we had everything we needed. Theres no free breakfast but there's a restaurant in the main building that you can choose to go to. There is free WIFI. The staff was very kind, from front desk to the housekeepers. I also got this room almost last minute for an unbeatable price so I cant make many complaints at all. I would return.

I like that t he restaurant Coconut was attached and convenient. The parking was a plus and the room had clean/ new white sheets and towels. The decor was dated the property could use many updates but it was ok for one night.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. The rooms have the oldest furniture and interior design I’ve ever seen in the U.S. Honestly, I think this hotel needs to be torn down and rebuilt. The staff, however, are amazing—everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I don’t think the hotel is very clean. It’s only tolerable for one night.

This is our second stay at Castle in the Sand and we had a great time! We stayed in the Waverly oceanfront efficiency and it was perfect for us. My kids loved the pool, especially the diving board, and the beach. The breakfast restaurant is very fairy priced and they have onsite ice cream. Coconuts has great live music. We enjoyed the kids activities and all the staff was beyond helpful and friendly. Two of the lifeguards actually went out of the way to bring us towels and also checked on my son when he hurt his back jumping off the diving board cause he had gotten a little sun burn at the beach the day before - they actually came and brought him some burn relief gel. It was very nice. We will def return - we love OC!

Only negative was a few times we left the balcony door open we would smell marijuana wafting in. But that’s not the hotels fault.

Have been going to this place for over thirty years and it’s really showing its age! The furniture looked like what I had as a child and I’m over 70. The molding in the bathroom has been painted rather replaced. Keys 🔑 are still used to enter the room. The second day the elevator was out of service in the morning and then mid-afternoon and my room was on the top floor. As a result, I checked out a day early.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The beach view was very pleasant as well. I also enjoyed the music that was being played at the beach bar. The opportunity for improvement is the cleanliness of the room. The bedroom sheets had not been cleaned properly and had stains on them. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

We had an amazing weekend. Family friendly, located steps away from the beach. Staff was great, the outside bar and refreshments were good even provided services on the beach. Hotel centraly located to many family friendly activities. Beds were comfortable, view was great. Would definitely stay again.

Lots to praise about here. One you may not hear about - the elevators. They were fast, maintained, clean, big, simple. We stayed on the top floor looking over the ocean and not once did a have an elevator issue. Thank you!

Clean rooms , Didnt like the shower and bathroom kind of small , motel a little dated but clean. Had patio room and was very happy with atmosphere of pool out front door and outside grill and bar out back past patio at back door with live music played till 8 pm daily. Being able to smoke at outside bar was a definite plus. All and all a decent retreat for couples…

The room was as expected. I love the 1st floor room with sand just outside my door!!
The wall, in the shower needs repaired. I had to take the bedspread OFF. It smelled badly. Please wash them more regularly!

Room was clean! Fridge froze my drinks lol You should update cable tvs to streaming services.

Stay was a much needed rest!

I want to say the staff was great. Friendly and they were dealing with a lot. My review is not a reflection of them. Now we stayed in one of their cottages so I’m only speaking for the condition of that room. It was terrible. The wall looked like it had just been plastered in the kitchen. It was across the whole wall. A hole in the wall in the bathroom. The baseboards have not been cleaned in a long time. The balancing area has cigarette butts and beer cans under the deck furniture. This isn’t ok in any hotel stay but for the price we paid it absolutely horrible. There only one small tv in the living room. It was a shame really. Again staff was excellent and were dealing with a lot of complaints. I should have known there would be issues

Excellent family friendly location with beach access. As far as I know this is the only hotel in ocean city that still has a diving board, which is cool. A little distance( about 2.3 mi from boardwalk, but we knew that. Great prices, polite and very helpful, friendly staff. Couldnt have been better.

We enjoyed our stay- it was actually better than we expected and would definitely stay 2 nights next time to really enjoy the happy hour at Coconuts and maybe the pool after a couple hours on the beach.

We had a 1 Br suite. It was clean save for the sandy floor. My only real complaints would be that it needed some updating, had a funny old smell and there was no sound proofing. You could everything inside the suite and outside it. Also we had someone sleep on the pull out and there weren’t any sheets or blankets provided. I’m sure we could have requested them from the front desk so I would recommend doing that in advance. Thankfully I brought some.

Overall the experience was decent. I enjoyed being right out the door to Coconuts and the beach.

My young family’s stay was a nightmare, culminating in a violent crime and police intervention. My wife and I contacted the front desk five times to report a loud violent disturbance in the room directly above us while my wife and toddlers were trying to sleep. The staff failed to remedy the situation and things escalated. I called 911 twice. Police arrived and arrested someone for assault, EMS tended to someone also. Without my intervention, no help would have arrived. Additionally, the room maintenance was poor; I stepped on a shard of glass that needed to be removed. Thankfully my toddlers little feet didn’t find that first. At checkout, I gave them the chance to make things right. Management told me they couldn't do anything but that I should email the property owner. I called and emailed multiple times but received no response. Despite a violent assault and police presence, the owner is still ignoring the situation. This hotel is a massive liability. If you value your safety or sleep, avoid staying here. We would have preferred to sleep in our vehicle if it had been safe to leave the room.

I stayed here for one night during Memorial weekend on 5.23.26. This was definitely not my typical hotel stay and the pics were deceiving. There was a musty smell as I entered my room but I sprayed lysol. The weather was disappointing as it was rainy and windy. Nice amenities that were closed because of the bad weather. The best part was the ocean view from my room. The fridge and microwave was a plus. The bathroom was small and the hotel listing promised 2 bathrooms in the room but it was only one. The furniture was aged and the bed sank in. I would not book here ever again!

We had to have our room moved because rain was coming in through the broken windows seal. The air conditioner was loose and you could feel the wind from outside. Because of the windo leak there is a large section of wall paper thag is peeling off and is all moldy underneath. When they went to switch our room 2 additional rooms they offered us had the same leaking windows issue. Some of the non smoking rooms smelled strongly of cigarettes. The property is overall rundown and messy.

We rented one of the cottages. On the upside, the room was quite spacious with a little kitchen and living room. Downside was that bed and sofa were quite hard and uncomfortable. Glad we only had to sleep there 2 nights.

Room was dark with a dank, musty smell. We asked for another room, which they provided down the hall from our first room. Second room also dark and musty smelling. Both of us have allergies and we couldn't stay there. Checked out after experiencing the second room, went down road found another hotel. This is an old property and it shows it. Live band playing in open, outdoor bar area easily heard through walls.

We had a beautiful beach-front room in the Castle North building on the third floor. I loved the balcony views and the fact that you were steps from the beach at this property. We also enjoyed live music and two-for-one drinks and food one evening we stayed. I believe we will be back next fall, if we can make it work!

There was mold growing at the bottom of the wall in our bedroom. Wallpaper was lifting up from the bottom. Everything looked old except the carpet. Bathroom looked very outdated. You couldn't reach the TP unless you are a contortionist. Would never stay there again.

I loved Castle in the Sand! I was in town for an event, and ended up loving the hotel! Parking was easy and convenient, was pleasantly surprised by the ocean view, loved Coconuts, easy to get to the boardwalk, and the staff was incredibly friendly! I may come back to OC just to stay here!

Beautiful beachfront view. Amazing pool with a handicap accessible lift for the pool. They also have beach wheel chairs for use. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beds were very comfortable. Shower had awesome water pressure. Bands playing on the patio in the afternoon and evening. Breakfast buffet was not free but was reasonable and delicious
