The location is ideal! A short walk to San Marco but far enough away to feel removed from the large crowds. A water bus stop next to the hotel is very convenient! The bar and restaurant manager, Matteo, makes a fantastic Negroni. Will certainly stay there again!

We were referred here by several friends. Great location immediately off the vaporetto. Imagine my surprise when we were brought our room which felt like we were being put in the attic. Big room with no windows, only a sky light. The carpet is threadbare, the furnishings ugly. It was so hot, no air movement. We were told the AC was off for the season, he would see about getting us a fan. Had to open the sky light for ventilation ( no fan delivered). I awoke to mosquito bites everywhere but mostly my face, arms and hands. A fan was finally provided but damage done, huge, itchy welts. The continental breakfast was disappointing after our wonderful breakfasts in Rome and Florence. Essentially, toast, fruit, yogurt. We met a couple from Germany that stay here annually for many years. They showed us their room which was beautiful and then they saw ours and gasped! Thankfully Venice is so amazing we were not in hotel much but it would have been nice to sleep in comfort.

Glorious location on the Grand Canal. The staff was excellent-clearly the most professional people are hired by the management. Breakfast, cocktail hour, and dinner were all delicious-we had no desire to look elsewhere when we could sit outside on a terrace next to the Grand Canal. Umbrellas protected us from a brief sprinkle of rain. The recommendation to visit Murano via water taxi was much appreciated. We were picked up off the hotel entrance. We didn't want to leave!

As charming as it gets!

Stern was absolutely charming. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were super clean and well appointed. The downstairs bar was wonderful. You could get a drink and sit out on the veranda and watch the grand canal. Venice was super crowded the weekend we were here, but the hotel was quiet. Would definitely stay here again. Love Venizia!!!

Palazzo Stern, a boutique hotel right on the Grand Canale in the Dorsodoro sestierè, was a wonderful spot in May.The outdoor terrace for breakfast and dinner is romantic and magical, a front row seat to Venetian day time water life and nighttime beauty. Our room was well appointed and immaculate. The hotel’s location is optimal, easy walking to all sights and far less crowded than main tourist areas.

We enjoyed a wonderful three day break here. It's one of very few hotels that has a terrace on the grand canal, it's an easy walk to most of the city yet is usefully distant from the seathing tourist districts, it's five minutes from the excellent Bakaro restaurant and the room was lovely, well designed and beautifully crafted. Highly recommended.

This a luxury hotel with great staff. I just wanted to mention that the bath tub is very tall and getting in and out was not easy. Also one has to be careful not to slide in the tub. The location is great and right in front of the public water boat station. There is no need to pay the high price of a water taxi. The location is also within walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

Our first trip to Venice and Hotel Palazzo Stern was an ideal choice for us. It has 15th Century charm with modern renovation and conveniences. Excellent location on the Grand Canal. Public transportation at the front door of the hotel. Easy walking distance to San Marco attractions and shopping. Excellent dining with many options within a five minute walk. Hotel staff friendly, courteous and aim to please. Would definitely stay here again.

The only reason I cant give this lovely property an excellent rating was that there an infestation of mosquitoes in Venice at the time and unfortunately we were unaware. Slept with windows open and were bitten to pieces. Also, i was denied use of their parking garage as my car was too large ( Audi Q7). With that, we lost opportunity to use their designated boat. Which, from the start was a major reason we booked there. That said, i would still recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Walking around this hotel is a treat, as it could also be called a museum, with rare artisan craftsmanship and one of a kind historic design, sculpture and artwork throughout. Built around 1500's and restored by an art afficionado family over a hundred years ago, we never got tired of looking at the ceilings, columns, terrazo, mosaic art, lighting and design. Then there are the rooms... More originality. Apparently, they are all different, large and extravagant, uniquely designed and furnished. The Rezzonico water taxi stop is convenient, right outside the door as a bonus, and there are squares, restaurants and shopping nearby. You can walk to San Marco square in about 20 minutes. The restaurant and bar is quaint, menu decent if you desire to stay onsite, and has both indoor and outdoor dining (outdoor right on the canal). Great stay, location, and experience all the way around, definitely a hotel we will not forget.

A wonderful Venetian experience.

We love Palazzo Stern. It is a fabulous hotel and a favourite in Venice. Traditional and glorious, there is nothing not to like and indulge. A perfect location is a plus point with major landmarks within a walk and the Vaporetto adjacent. With a Grand Canal view it was perfect.

The room is fine, but it didn’t have a shower. It had a big tub spot tub with a handle shower so you had to sit in the tub and take a shower that way. The AC worked fine but other than that the hotel was very quiet.

We had an amazing stay at Palazzo Stern. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It is on the grand Canal with a lovely terrace. But in addition to the hotel, the staff is superb. They went above and beyond to meet our every need. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here when I return to Venice.

Electrical system is old and tired. No accommodation for any USB plugs. TV did not operate with remote. TV is old and small.
Jacuzzi tub (fine bubbles?) is so slippery it’s scary and uncomfortable to take a shower. Water pressure from overhead depended on gravity.
Building overall is beautiful. Former mansion. Jordi and Junior both get big thumbs up.
We liked the location and neighborhood.

Very wonderful welcome from Giordie and the team who couldn’t do enough to make our stay fantastic.
What an amazing setting, it’s not often you can stay in a real Venician Palace - the architecture and decor is beautiful.
Breakfast or evening cocktails on the veranda are a great opportunity to relax and soak up the history, romance and atmosphere of Venice.

A beautiful palatial like home converted to a hotel. Perfectly situated next to vaporetto stop. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only problem we experienced is that the heating controls Don’t really respond well to the settings. We had some nights that were a little bit too hot and also a little bit too cold. Other than that everything was great. It was our second stay there.

They help arrange transportation from the airport that greeted us upon arrival. Helped us map out our local travels with the public waterways. Beautiful hotel.

The hotel is stunning and in a fantastic location. The Ca'Rezzonico vaporetto stop (Line 1) is right outside the hotel and the airport boat (Alilaguna) also picks up at that same stop so it is super convenient for getting around Venice. The surrounding neighborhood also feels more local with busy restaurants, espresso bars, and some of the best wine bars with super affordable cicchettis. Also as a fun fact, this is the same hotel where they filmed the beginning of The Italian Job (newer remake)

The one thing to point out is that there is a \"free\" water taxi ride to Murano to check out the glass factory. While technically the water taxi and tour of the glass factory is free, we felt super uncomfortable as it became clear it was a sales pitch to try to sell us some very expensive glassware and the sales guy kept pressuring us to try to buy something from his store. Other than that experience our stay here was fantastic.

We loved being right on the Grand Canal and watching the varied boat traffic from the comfortable and beautiful patio. We had breakfast once— kind of pricey but with multiple selections—and dinner once, which was one of the best dinners on our trip. The service at meals was exceptional. My only criticism, a very small one, is that we could find only one outlet in our room for charging our phones, but we understand this is a historic building, perhaps difficult to retrofit for modern electronics. We managed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

It is a great place to enjoy the bustle of the Grand Canal and truly a palace. However, If you are looking for tranquility, you may be better avoiding the Grand Canal

This is a beautiful building and property in an excellent location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were traveling with our two teenage kids so we needed a room to sleep four. We were given a suite on the split level between the first and second floor. It was very private and quiet but the ceilings were very low and it was a bit cramped and claustrophobic. The bathroom was large, lovely, and modern. I was able to see one of the other rooms with high ceilings and it was amazing. Definitely would stay again but in a different room.

We visit Venice twice a year and have stayed in many of the hotels in this city. This visit was in late January; quiet and easy to navigate the city, but many good restaurants closed, which is a trade off for sure but overall a good time to visit the city. Palazzo Stern is right at the Ca Rezzonico “boat” stop which makes it very easy to go anywhere on the “1”, and (even better) the Alilaguna boat coming and going from the airport stops at the hotel door as well.
Our problem with the Stern was the restaurant. Breakfast was NOT a buffet (these are back post-COVID) but food was served by a rather robotic wait staff which was annoying and unnecessary. (And the worst coffee in Venice!) The bartender in the evenings however should be commended for her TOP Negroni’s!
The desk staff was very accomodating and helpful.

The Perfect Hotel in All of Venice.

The stay way was absolutely amazing. The building, the decor, the room, the atmosphere is 2nd to none. The best in Venice. The concierge was so helpful. They made our visit so memorable. The helped schedule day trips and tours. They knew everything about Venice. The bar tender in the evening (woman with long black hair) was simply the BEST in all of Italy. She took care of all out needs and more. She was very hospitable, friendly, and kind.

I can start saying that this is an amazing building with a lot of history and beauty. Location is very convenient close to restaurants and water taxi. Unfortunately our suite was located on the third floor, the attic, where we were unable to enjoy all that it had to offer. The room was always very, very hot, it reached the 26c one day when we returned after our day out.
It was a very hot 3 days in Venice and their system requires the card removed and everything shuts off. The air conditioning wasn’t able to keep up at our return even if we left all curtains shut before leaving. The heat was unbearable.
No mirrors in the room, only one in the bathroom.
Another issue we had was little spiders crawling on our bed pillows, I think I killed 7 of them.
The staff was very courteous but we were never asked how we found our stay, not even at check out.
I’m sure we were unlucky with the room assigned but for the price payed and all the positive rating and reviews we were expecting a much better experience.

A beautiful hotel located in a quieter corner of Venice. It's located in a former home of a Venice merchant family, and remodeled with era-specific art. It feels like staying in a museum.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and gave us a wonderful tour of the property at check in. The dining area is located on the waterfront of the Grand Canal and provides a beautiful place to eat and have a drink. The rooms themselves are clean, comfortable, and elegant in their decoration.

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Palazzo Stern and will definitely be staying here again.

This is the best hotel we have ever had the pleasure of visiting! Roberto, Gabrielli & Danielelli were like family. So very kind and helpful. Our room was beautiful. The bathroom was large with a lovely tub & shower. We had a balcony by the canal. We especially enjoyed being picked up by the hotel’s boat. A perfect way to begin our holiday! We will never stay anywhere else but here when in Venice.

This is a beautiful property. It was easily accessed from the E boat at CA Rezzoies (sp?) stop. The entry was ornate and beautiful. The patio is large and sits right on the Grand Canal. The bar is right inside the patio. They served a lovely breakfast of meats, cheeses, coffees, pastries too much to list. The concierge was so very helpful and personable. There are 24 rooms on the property. Our room was beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable. My only complaint was toilet backed up but they fixed it right away. Otherwise I would highly recommend this hotel!

The Palazzo Stern was exactly as expected--a beautiful hotel in a historic palazzo directly on the Grand Canal. The service, from check-in to the water taxi pick-up to the airport, was perfect and friendly. Although the weather in March was warm and sunny, most guests were eating breakfast inside rather than on the terrace directly on the Grand Canal. When we asked if we could eat outside instead, the wonderful breakfast waiter immediately set us a table outside and checked on us often even when we were the only outside table. Watching the city wake-up each morning on the Grand Canal and then the sun set each evening was a highlight of the hotel.
We would recommend the deluxe double rooms. Ours did not face the GC but they were very roomy and the high ceilings were great. Take time to explore the mosaics and other historical touches throughout the hotel.

Have stayed here twice now and both times this hotel has been exceptional. Staff go out of their way to help and accommodate requests, the position is perfect. The terrace is beautiful. The rooms are gorgeous and clean and the breakfast is delicious. We couldn’t have wanted anything else. Thankyou to the staff and hotel for a fantastic stay.

Second stay after 10 years. Charming building right on canal, still outstanding staff. But no apparent upgrades over the 10 years and signs of aging. Also annoying to have to pay for bottled water from minibar in 4-star. Given location is a tad out of the way as well, likely not to return next time unfortunately.

Palazzo Stern was a beautiful hotel right on the Grand Canal. The hotel is close to a lot of major attractions. The breakfast had a great selection. The staff were very attentive. They aent above and beyond with helping with directions, reservations and recommending things to do. Their sister hotel to allow us to store our bags the last day since we had an afternoon train and they were much closer to the train station.

It's a lovely old building situated right on the canal in the Dorsoduro area, which is filled with restaurants and cafes and bars and bridges to the more crowded San Marco area.

Palazzo Stern was amazing! Warm atmosphere in a beautiful palazzo right on the Grand Canal! Eating breakfast on the terrace on the Grand Canal was a decadent treat I will not soon forget. Super attentive and caring staff, great location, excellent stay!

This Venice Hotel ticks all the boxes; central location, vapourette service next door, beautifully decorated large rooms, delicious breakfast included, stunning large front patio on Grand canal to just enjoy cocktails and watch the world go by. Would certainly stay again.

Locking the side doors in the evening was startling for us as we were not aware of the timeframes and found ourselves having to call the hotel to have them open the doors and let us in. This was scary as we found ourselves in the alley alone at night.

In a good location, quiet section of the canal. Rooms are small but comfortable. Staff very knowledgeable and so willing to give suggestions on places to eat, visit etc.
