I had a small double room for one, which had all the necessary amenities. The bathroom was rather small, but so am I so that didn't matter.
The continental breakfast was ample, and taken in a pleasant dining room, which opened out on to a courtyard, which I imagine would be delightful in warmer times of the year.
The hotel is very conveniently situated, being 5 minutes walk from both St. Mark's Square and the Rialto, and even nearer La Fenice, and the local Campo San Stefano, has restaurants to suit all pockets and tastes.
It would have been helpful to have been told by reception when I checked out that the nearest vaporetto stop, San Samuele, was on a winter timetable from Nov.4th. That would have avoided a few minutes of panic when I waited there for half an hour at 7am on Nov 5th & then realised none stopped there until 10am - and my flight was at 10.30, final bag drop 9.30.

Horrible pillows, like bricks. There was No AC, so had to open windows to cool down, which let in mosquitoes because no screens on windows, so we couldn't sleep because getting bit dozens of times by mosquitoes. I only stayed one night. I would recommend this hotel to college students. It was very convenient and the staff was efficient, but the pillow was so very nasty and it was really noisy. I could literally hear every shower running, door closing, conversations and some weird screeching sound coming from the room next to me. I had to turn the TV on to drown them out. I was finally able to fall asleep around 3am and then a fire alarm went off at 5:30am. Again that pillow needs to be burned. Everything else was decent and appeared clean.

Convenient area, quiet BUT aircon already programmed for winter and October still warm weather, bring ur own shampoo, lotion, they only have body wash, check for mosquitos and make sure their mosquito repellent is working. The property was an old convent and use San Angelo station from sta Lucia’s train station, less bridge easy for the luggage. Staff are nice.

The hotel is a bit tired, the rooms are definitely modest, but the stay was comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. A down side was the AC not being on summer mode yet, meaning the room got very hot when the weather was warm!

Also another customers wife was robbed and he was asking for help and she just told him to go to police.

Pleasant Hotel in Venice

Pros: The hotel is very clean and cared for. It is near public transport, and there several dining options nearby. The breakfast is very good with considerable choices. The staff is generally friendly and helpful. Good value for the money. Cons: The furnishings are basic college dormitory, the beds are not comfortable. The walls are thin, and the hotel is pretty noisy.

I recently had a 3 night stay at Domus Ciliota and found it to be excellent. The front desk staff were very courteous and helpful. The room, although basic, was very clean and quiet. The buffet breakfast was extensive and always fresh. The location very central and close to a vaparetto stop and also a bridge over the grand canal. Furthermore it was close to a popular square with many restaurant/cafe options.

Venice is a very confusing city to navigate. If you stay at Domus Ciliota, take the ferry from the airport to the S. Angelo dock. It’s about 5 minutes from the hotel. We made the mistake of getting off at the San Marco dock and it took us hours, dragging our luggage. When we left, we got a porter to take our luggage and it cost 25 Euro. The hotel will arrange a porter for you so you don’t get scammed. The staff were wonderful. The breakfast was delicious and fresh. The first thing we noticed was how clean the hotel was & smelled. I would recommend it to anyone.

Overall, not a great experience

I wouldn’t recommend staying here - realize it is a budget hotel. It wasn’t that much cheaper than others - so would recommend finding somewhere else. We booked a while ago, and couldn’t change.

Key issues:
The bathroom was not cleaned fully when we arrived (they did not clean behind the door at all); the service provided was bare minimum - don’t ask for anything other than what they already provided they will say no; the air conditioning didn’t work in the room so it was hot as we were in the 3rd floor; the bed was terrible - so firm.

The good thing is the location - very convenient!

The only problem we encountered was not being able to take the water bus at our leaving early morning. The s. Samuele doesn’t run before 9:19am! We had to hire a costly water taxi instead to take us to the rail station. Our stay in Venice was delightful.

this hotel is in a great location--in San Marcos, near the major tourist attractions, but on a quiet street. It is reasonably priced. The reception are most helpful in answering questions. Like Moorish architecture, the outside is basic but the inside has a beautiful rose garden (which is pictured). The complementary breakfast is most ample. The room is cleaned and furnished with amenities like soap & shampoo every day. We were very pleased with our choice and would recommend Domus Ciliota to anyone who wants a great buy for their money.

Good property take an iron if u need one and a kettle if u like a coffee in the morning as the hotel don’t provide either. This place did the job for us as u don’t spend too much time at ur hotel when in a place as beautiful as Venice. The location is great only to get 10 mins walk to st marks sq.
the local square was a 2 min walk and had some lively resteraunts which we dined at in numerous occasions.
If u want a fancy place this is not for u.

It is on the orange line of the Alilaguna water bus so easy transfer from flight. Not easy to find hotel from S. Angelo water bus stop. - we did a few wrong turnings with the ineffective map we had. If technology had been better then SatNav may have been a better option. First impressions were a very fast speaking receptionist - perhaps a handout would have been better to refer to rather than keep checking what he said. Very pleased with double room - clean and had all basic facilities. Slightly annoying that you had to sign into the Internet regularly since the time out facility was clearly not the 24 hours stated. Loved the breakfast - good range of continental options. If you sit outside in the beautiful courtyard you need to like pigeons - they will help themselves if you go inside for that second cup of coffee. Staff in hotel did not make you feel overly welcome (some might like this) - they were helpful if you approached them but gave me the impression that they did not particularly enjoy their job. However, I know tourists must be a real pain most of the time. Good eating place near by and loved the Mini market round the corner - friendly staff there and big bottles of water for 1 Euro.

Only the lobby was appealing. The dormitory-style beds were extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioner unit in the room was old, and jut out above the door of the room (inside the room) and rattled and clanged all night long. Restful sleep was not possible due to the noise of the air conditioner unit. Also, the noise from the outside generator (humming, motor sound) was very loud (even with the window closed). I complained about the beds and the noise. The staff told me that 8 other people were making the same complaints and asked to change rooms. The staff said that they would accommodate me by changing my room, however, that the issues of uncomfortable beds, noisy old-fashioned air conditioner units, and the noisy outside generator, would not be resolved since all of the rooms were the same. The rooms either face the courtyard, where the generator is, or another building. The generator powered all of the air conditioning units in the rooms and made noise all night long. After staying one night and after my complaint, the hotel released me from the non-refundable reservation, and I switched to another hotel which, for the same cost, was in a better area (near the canal and St. Mark's Square) and was of a much higher quality. Thank you to Expedia for assistance in finding another hotel! Much appreciated!

Overall the stay was OK, but found lceanliness of the room an issue. Squashed flies stuck to the wall and the room was very small. The breakfast was abit poor and the bed also creaked like crazy and not for good reasons :). The hotel is in a really good location with some nice places to eat.
