I had various communications with the hotel before arriving as had questions about late check in, directions to the accommodation etc. I received prompt responses with detailed descriptions that helped answer my questions.
The location of the accommodation was perfect. One street away from the water bus which was ideal for airport transfers, 5/10 minutes walk from St Marc’s square. A good landmark to head for to get back to your accommodation when the wandering takes you further afield. We had little interaction with staff whilst there but when we did they were pleasant and helpful. The only downside was that the room was a little cold on an evening but our stay was the beginning of October. We weren’t there long enough to speak to staff about it as I’m sure there would have been an easy fix but it didn’t bother us enough to say anything.

Great Location and Feels like Real Venice

This hotel feels like you are in Venice. The room was very small but the bathroom was large. My room overlooked a small courtyard and the window opened. The room did have air-conditioning as the warm humid temperatures made it very appreciated. (You just have to make sure the window is closed- so the Air-conditioning works)
There hotel manager is only there for a few hours a day - so you have to read you email - to get instructions on how to enter the building ... but it is not too complicated.
The hotel is very close to the water-bus - that you can catch from the train station. It was very enjoyable location and room.

The hotel staff was mainly uncontactable. No proper instructions on reaching the hotel. The whatsapp and expedia messenger were ghost. Emergency took 1 hour.

I understand that no reception we cannot intercom for assistance but replies taking more than 3-4 hours is unacceptable.

Lastly the room instruction guide states 1030am check out. But the staff messaged everyone 8am. Amazing and she can have time to toast her breakfast at 7am.

We stayed in the family apartment. The room was large and clean. Still, or stay was marred because the floor of the apartment was uneven and caused me to fall and injure my knee. Specifically, one corner of the room was about six inches lower than the remainder of the room, and because the room was dimly lit when we arrived and the flooring uniform and dark, we did not see the \"step down\" and we were not informed of its existence. Result: a fall that impaired me for our entire visit.

Honeymoon in Venice!

A little difficulty finding the hotel but an extra 5mins was worth it when we got there - amazing small hotel, very secure and a great location. The original Palatial residence is enhanced by the wall decoration and the large glass chandelier above the breakfast area. It is very peaceful by night, has all the facilities, provides a good continental breakfast, easy access to many sights in Venice..........all combined to make a wonderful short stay in Venice. Excellent value for money.

A night in a Palace

We booked just one night as we had tickets for the Opera in the Palazzo Barbarigo. The Locanda is actually part of the Palazzo so we couldn't have been closer. Laura greeted us on arrival and provided excellent information for our time in Venice. The facilities are the same as a B&B, with bedrooms leading off the dining room. All the gondolas pass along the narrow canal just outside the front door. Walking from St Mark's Square, we followed directions for the \"Accademia\" which brought us right to our destination as it is on the way. Just remember that all property numbers in Venice are \"unique\"to each property. Looking forward to a return visit.

how to double room by yourself

I had a sweet time and thought it did get cold at night but that was cool really or acclimatised even. By the end I was walking bare foot and a professional microwave chef. The reception was great. When I arrived I failed to recognise that I had actually arrived so a water taxi came in handy at 2 am and it was wicked. I wasn't wearing flip flops that's why. When it came to check out I was oblivious and Wifi-ng across the grand canal at a bar and was really being dealt with by the staff who gave me food bags and stuff. The local art exhibitions are rather distracting and most Venetians that i asked won't really know where the place really is that late at night☺ even if their English is really good. I went to the beach a couple of times and a nightclub which was just crazy since Italians do things their way and was packed. I did like the location and handing my new cups and rubbish in bought from supermarkets. Visiting the place before I was soon habituated to other people's idiosyncrasies around the area. Then I went on to my next hostel.

Lovely friendly stay in a great location

Great hotel and service. The hotel is very small I believe with about 6 rooms.when we arrived (use the instructions on the website - the closest vaporetto is giglio) we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist.We were given a map and told all the best places to enjoy.

The room was basic and suited out needs,you won't be spending too much time here. The room was cleaned everyday. Breakfast was included which consisted of your continental style - breads, cheeses, fruits and cereals. Which was all relatively nice.

Service was great and could not fault that at all. The best bit has to be where it's located,down its own little under path situated next to the canal.

We loved venice and would definitely recommend locanda barbarigo.

Now that I've been in Venice, I know that \"affordable\" or \"reasonable\" are not words in their vocabulary. Paying almost $800 Euros for what I consider a 2-star (3-star at best) experience, is not what I'd call a good deal. Very disappointed with this hotel experience, despite the hotel's personnel best intentions.

1. Difficult to find
2. Entrance of hotel is always locked and you can't go in if you don't have the keys which you certainly don't have when you are coming to check in. Just keep knocking on the door in a hope that some one would let u in and then u can check in.
3. No body at reception after 7pm.. So not a remote possibility of checking in after 7 pm
4. Rooms are stinky as if not cleaned in years. Dusty beds. Two single beds pushed together as double
5. Insufficient light in rooms , always dark even in day time with all lights on.
6. Refrigerator in the room not working
7. Bathroom cabin leaking, just take one shower and your bathroom is full with water.
8. There is a TV in the room with only one channel working.
9. Internet is there but it logs you out automatically after every 10 mins or so.. Need to log in again and again..
10. The breakfast room is just outside the room which makes your room noisy as early as 7 am.
11. Rotten and insufficient breakfast. \"orange juice\" with lots of water in it, stinky eggs are boiled days before serving ( talked to owner of the hotel which surprisingly and annoyingly agreed to it and say it as their food saving economy, gets groceries once a week), no cheese one day, no butter next day, cheapest bread in the town that too rotten( as mentioned earlier it's a week old), fruits are cut a day before and are limpy when eaten and this list goes on and on..

Greta location, not worth the price at all. Hotel service was great, breakfast was decent. The bed was from the 1700s, the sheets had more dust on them than anything. The shower was the worse, spilled water everywhere. For the price you can find something much better. Only perk was that it was close to the square but it's Venice. Everything is close

We had called ahead as requested and the manager gave us check in information as they were not there at the time we arrived. It went smoothly. There are stairs so beware if you have heavy luggage. The room was small but the bathroom was modern and we managed.

A two star dump minutes from San Marco

this place is a dump. I tried to get out of the contract immediately once i saw it, but was forced to stay the full time or pay a penalty of the full period PLUS an additional day. Be careful before booking - read the fine print. Hard to find, the hotel is under a smelly, dirty portico lines with pigeon and cat poo. There was no one at reception after 8 hour trip getting to Venice. The staircase is really long and hard to get luggage up, no one to help. The room was dark, hot and bed was so large it barely fit in the room, was hard to move around. No drinking water in the room, no place to get any and tap water is undrinkable (Venice is old, pipes are filthy). The breakfast room is abysmal and there is no reception area. The gondoliers start singing from 9am and pass every 3 minutes: the charm wears off in under an hour. The only good thing it has going for it is the location. Because I went for an art fair, I paid about 200 for a room that should have been 50 Euros. Seriously - its no more than a 2 star with TVs.

Quaint but tired

Quaint, excellent location, but staff infrequently available to seek service or advice. Room appeared pleasant on first appearance, but no draws or places to put your belongings, therefore had to live out of suitcases. The bathroom was adequate although the shower was tiny, the water lukewarm and the hairdryer useless. The breakfast room was large but sterile, with the food being limited in quantity and mostly stale.

The bed and breakfast is located in a charming building and in a great location. Breakfast was good, although some food items needed to be replenished more frequently. Staff were also generally helpful but only on site during the morning and early afternoon.

The main reason for a lower than average rating is the room. It is accessed by walking up three long stair cases and going through a large attic room with a low ceiling. The room is small and remained hot and stuffy, even with windows open. There was also a distinct sewer smell coming from the bathroom floor drain. A lack of a second exit, on site staff and visible smoke alarms were also a concern.

Overlooking canal

Easy 5 minute walk from the Giglio stop, easy to find hotel, only one bridge to get cases over. Our room overlooked canal, perfect for watching gondolas pass, listen to their music and wave to their customers. Lovely view along the canal to the bridge over the canal where a lot of people paused to take a photo looking down to our hotel and out to the Grand Canal. Breakfast good, all cold but plenty of food. Would stay here again without hesitation.

Authentic Venice experience

We enjoyed staying in this beautifully restored old Venice building. Christine was welcoming and very helpful with our questions. Opening our room windows we were treated to a view of a small canal where we watched the gondoliers and enjoyed their singing and music. Close to the valporettas and we could walk everywhere. The Locanda is charming: we loved the porch off the breakfast room, the marble steps and damask covered walls - and the glass chandeliers. We enjoyed the history that the walls told. We had privacy and enjoyed meeting other guests at breakfast.

Hotel was easy to get to, the staff were very helpful and pleasant, the breakfast was good. The hotel is old and in need of some updating. Our bathroom had recently been updated, the towels and linens were nice. Our room was very small (it was listed as a small room in the description) and there was no place to sit other than the bed. Luckily, there was an outer room that was a public space and no one as using it. So we used it to have somewhere to sit and read.

The hotel was hard to find, but could have been much easier to find if the hotel published which pont to alight at. With that information it would have been a short walk with only one set of stairs to navigate with cases.

The hot water system failed during our stay. We were told it would be rectified in half an hour, but took most of the day and we were forced to take cold showers, with no apology or recompense from the hotel, other than to blame the service technician.

There is no lift and it is necessary to lug cases up stairs.

Otherwise, the hotel was adequate and the breakfast included in the price was quite adequate.

We had a lovely stay in Venice. This was a central location off of the main street, quiet and we liked how there were not a lot of guests in the bed and breakfast. We enjoyed breakfast and the convenience of just going down the steps to a wide array of breakfast items. It was easy to find, the directions were specific and easy to check-in and out of.

The hotel was in the perfect location. It was on a nice, quiet canal which had the occasional gondola floating by...just perfect! We were able to walk all around Venice from our hotel. The room was small, but comfortable and had a great Venetian feel. The staff was very friendly and helpful in providing directions and recommendations. The hotel also provided a nice breakfast consisting of breads, pastries, yogurt, etc. Free Wi-Fi was also included.

Great location, basic but clean and helpful staff

The hotel is in a nice quiet street but right near St Marcos square so location is great. The room and facilities are basic but very clean. The room was quite warm as we were right at the top of the building but there was air con so it wasnt a problem. There was no lift so we had 3 flights of stairs to go up so you might want to request a lower floor if you are less mobile. Breakfast was included, it wasnt amazing but was fine for the price paid for our stay, there was cerial toast and pastries as well as fruit but one toaster for all the guests to share. The staff were polite and friendly. For a city break where you dont spend much time in the hotel it was ideal.

Once we found it, having been dropped canal-side, it was a great location, very central, close to Saint Mark's Square - great service (had left our camera case at a restaurant, they went and got it for us) - breakfast fine, nothing great .... your standard continental breakfast - We had an awesome room facing a courtyard, the same courtyard Musica a Palazzo faces, so we opened our balcony doors and had our own operatic concert every night - btw, a must see, we saw The Barber of Seville, really good, very funny!

I have had a weeks stay to mark my birthday 15 times.
Learnt from experience that the specific area was good.
I am in my seventies and travel alone, I was surprised to find on arriving at the Hotel at 7.30p.m. That I couldnt see a way to get in. A passerby pressed a buzzer for entry. This was my first experience of a hotel without a reception. I was able to press something else to hear a voice say Envelope on the desk, this contained room no and entry card. My preference is a reception.

Fascination area and cosy ambience

Great! Locanda Barbarigo was a delight to stay in. Enjoyed every minute. The only problem I encountered was that when I arrived to check in, the young lady at the desk informed me that my reservation had been cancelled. Expedia had cancelled the reservation. I had had no contact whatsoever with Expedia and had no idea that the cancellation had been made. Why? Fortunately, the hotel had a room available. If there is an explanation please reply. This could have been a disaster.

Challenging physical property in what seems to have been a pretty difficult Palazzo to retro-fit into a B&B style hotel, the location can be tough to find (insure to find exact location before your arrival) and the rooms are small. That being said the location is just phenomenal in that it is located around many high end properties and key attractions, and since it set back from major thorough fares - pretty quiet. The daily breakfast is nothing special but more than adequate to get your day started. If your goal is to be out and about in Venice rather than lounging around your hotel property, Barbarigo may very well be the perfect option.

Great value - superb location in Venice

My husband and I arrived in Venice by train from Milan. We took the water bus to Giglio stop/dock and found the Locanda Barbarigo directly behind the Ala Hotel on a small canal. It's a short walk from the dock (two city blocks equivalent). All of the other reviews and pictures were very helpful, since we knew we were too late for the check in staff to be on hand, we knew what to expect. The pictures of the outside helped us know we had found the place. They had a key waiting and it was no problem. We stayed for two nights and found the hotel very charming and comfortable with air conditioning, private bath, and wifi. The location and room is outstanding for the price - an excellent value. I recommend buying some wine, cheese, olives and bread from a Venice deli/store for a little picnic on the steps outside the hotel. You'll experience all the serenading gondolas as they go by!

Perfect Hotel for a romantic holiday

It is located in a convenient place. From Marco Polo Airport, you can either take the Ali Laguna (water bus) (Euro 15 pp) which goes directly to Venice or take bus No 5 from the airport and get down at the last stop and from there take the water bus line 1 and get down at Santa Maria Del Giglio.The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from there. Ask for Hotel Ala (which is famous). Hotel Locanda Barbarigo is just behind Hotel Ala. Staff were very helpful and booked us the Gandola ride , which is otherwise expensive if you book directly with the Gondola people.

Not sure what the standard is in venice but this was not good. Our room was very big but the “living room” part was also used as storage, the advertised soundproof room was anything but that. Might have been the smallest shower we have ever seen with no hot water on our departure day.

Breve passaggio a Venezia con la famiglia: alloggio buono, confortevole, molto tranquillo, in ottima posizione, personale cordiale e disponibile. La colazione tuttavia lasciava un po' a desiderare: servizio quasi assente, caffè e simili scadenti ( macchina automatica). Aspetto negativo: il prezzo astronomico, decisamente sproporzionato rispetto alla qualità, anche per Venezia. In fondo non è che un semplice B&B.

Très belle et très vaste chambre (chambre Giglio) avec rangements et petite cuisine cuisine surprise dans l'armoire.
Un peu de poussières dans les coins.
L'emplacement est idéal !

När vi bokade hotellet så ingick frukost och wifi, men när vi anlände så sa receptionisten att frukosten inte ingick eftersom vi hade bokat för ett billigare pris där frukosten inte var inräknad. Tydligen hade detta hänt flera gånger samma vecka med andra resenärer också. Lite tråkigt att det blev fel eftersom hon i receptionen började skälla på oss. Så redan där blev det lite otrevligt att bo på hotellet. Vi fick i alla fall vår frukost. Vårt rum låg längst upp och det var väldigt litet, men helt ok eftersom vi hade bokat ett litet rum. Däremot var rummets renlighet inte alls bra. Väggarna var mjuka så om man slår på dem så kan man se damm flyga ut och när vi öppnade fönstret vid sängen så låg det massa ansamlande damm längs hela fönsterkarmen. Det var inte direkt ett tunt lager som hade varit där i ca.2 dagar utan det var stora dammtussar som legat där i minst 2 år. Annars ligger hotellet väldigt bra till, mindre än 1km till sevärdheter, shopping och restauranger. Hotellet är helt okej om man ska vara ute och turista mycket i vending och endast sova där. Dock sattes luftkonditioneringen igång av sig själv mitt på natten och man kan höra konstiga bankningar då och då också.

Palatsimainen B&B

Tämä pieni hotelli on vanhassa osassa palatsia, johon on rakennettu tunnelmalliset huoneet, sekä pieni aamiaissali. Hotelli on B&B-konseptilla toimiva ja hinta-laatusuhde on hyvä, ainakin Venetsialaisen mittapuun mukaan. Henkilökunta oli erittäin ystävällistä, joskin he ovat paikalla vain päivisin. Illalla sisään pääsee soittamalla ovikelloa. Ovet avautuvat huoneen avainkortilla. Hotelli sijaitsee lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä San Marcon aukiosta, Rialton sillallekaan ei ole kovin pitkä matka. Rautatieasemalta hotellille on kätevintä matkustaa venebussilla, pysäkki Giglio on aivan hotellin läheisyydessä. Hotelli on hiljaisen kanavan varrella, joten muista turisteista ei ole paljon haittaa jos huone on kanavan puolella.

Beautiful hotel , comfortable beds, great location

We were here two nights. The first night we went to an opera in the Musica a Palazzo.(right next door to us!) The hotel rooms were beautiful, very roomy and comfortable. Breakfast was also very good!
5 minutes from San Marcos...the Vaporetto is also not far. We really enjoyed it very much! And we will definitely be coming back.

Wir haben diese Hotel für einen 4-Tage-Städtetrip gebucht. Das Hotel liegt einfach perfekt Direkt an einer Vaporetto-Station und die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Innenstadt sind auch einfach zu Fuß erreichbar. Das Hotel ist sehr sauber, die Zimmer für Venedig sehr großzügig und das Frühstück absolut in Ordnung. Der Preis ist für die gebotene Leistung absolut in Ordnung.

湿気の多い狭いホテル

インド系の受付は、最低でした。此方が顧客なのに怒ったかのような態度で感じが良くありませんでした。部屋が狭いため、ベッドの上でしかトランクを開けられず、水も電気ポットもなかったなめ、部屋でコーヒーも飲めず不快な思いをしました。
また、建物全体にカビ臭く、湿気が多いため、長期間部屋に滞在していると体調を崩しそうです。実際、友人は風邪をひき、1日寝込んでいました。

Perfekt placering

Vi boede meget tæt på Marcus pladsen på det lille guesthouse med 6 værelser. To søde og hjælpsomme ansatte. Værelset var stort og et fint badeværelse.
Morgenmaden var simpel men den var bedre end forventet. Vi boede ved en kanal og den eneste \"uro\" vi oplevede var de syngende gondoler som sejlede forbi vores vindue.

difficile à trouver l'hôtel, personnel agréable, la chambre etait propre mais l'aspirateur ne semble pas être passé tous les jours, dommage car cela ne nous incite pas à marcher pieds nus, le petit déjeuner etait suffisant mais les croissants pas terribles, la personne à l'accueil tres agréable et tres serviable, l'hôtel est bien situé, nous sommes arrivés le soir nous aurions aimé trouver une bouteille d'eau dans la chambre, même en payant

전반적으로 괜찮았습니다.

1600년대 건물치고는 정말 깨끗하고 이쁜것 같아요... 원래는 궁전의 일부로 사용되던 건물이었다고 하더라구요.. 기차역에서 위치가 많이 떨어져 있기는 하지만 관광하기에는 정말 좋은 위치에 있고, 주변에 맛있는 피자집 명품브랜드 샵이 있습니다. 아침도 정말 좋았구요, 체크인 방법은 당황하지 마시고 카운터책상에 올려져있는 본인이름을 찾아서 방을 찾아가야 된답니다.. 방이 5개밖에 없으니 금방 찾으실 겁니다.

hotel simple bien situé

Hotel tres bien situé pour la visite de Venise ! Situé dans la zone la plus riche de la ville... Chambre très petite et D un style vieillot ! Ne pensais pas faire une grasse matinée car à partir de 8h il y a du bruit dans la rue et dans la salle de petit déjeuner située à votre porte !!!! Et je parle pas du bruit de la ventilation de la salle de bain... Sinon le petit déjeuner et correct. Bref c est un bon hotel pour un petit budget ...
