Hotel Santo Stefano is located in the historical centre of Venice, just 7 minutes walk from the beautiful St. Mark square, a few steps from Rialto Bridge with its shops and the famous “La Fenice” Theater, rebuilt after a fire in 1996.

Our structure is located in Campo Santo Stefano, one of the largest and most elegant in Venice, far from the confusion and noise. The windows of some of our rooms enjoy the magical view of this beautiful square.

Built on a 13th-century building, a clear example of Venetian Gothic architecture, it was originally a defensive tower of a convent, which overlooked a stretch of water, later transformed into Campo Santo Stefano. The building was then a school of lace and later was used by the “maestri botteri” who were responsible for the construction of barrels.

The hotel retains an elegant atmosphere of the past with distinguished and refined furniture.

The room was clean and I had a beautiful view of the piazza, however, if you have the window open, you will experience the sounds and smells from the street. The staff is incredibly polite and helpful to a fault. It is a small hotel with a small elevator; if it happens to be busy or out of order when you are arriving or leaving, the staff will help you get your luggage up and down the stairs. When you are booking pay attention as to if your washroom is an en-suite or includes a private washroom outside your room-it may be easy to miss that. I picked a room with a separate private washroom and had a great experience. The hotel is very well located, and you can easily and quickly get everywhere in the city. I enjoyed my time at Hotel Santo Stefano!

This is a lovely little hotel with a bed and breakfast kind of feel. The location is excellent, and we were able to walk everywhere. The rooms are all decorated differently in Venetian style, but the beds all have nice white linens and are very comfortable. The room was equipped with all the amenities I needed. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. There is a spiral staircase that can be difficult to navigate, especially with luggage, but there is also a small elevator available.

For me location is the most important part. Here, the location was very good. Piazza de San Marco, the heart of Venezia is only 10 minutes walk. Received excellent service from Claudia and Romona.

The hotel was located on a lovely square and was very convenient for sightseeing. I particularly liked that before we arrived the hotel contacted me to ask whether we wanted our rooms made up as doubles or twins. And they also booked our water taxi to the airport for us before we arrived.

Hotel was just fine for a great visit of Venice. The plaza it was in was wonderful at night, and was quiet in the after hours. There were restaurants near by and all the attractions of Venice were easily walkable. The hotel check in was quick and easy, the staff was wonderful, and room was cozy. There was free coffee, hair dryer available, and free water bottles. The walls are thin so noise transfers. I feel the location was perfect and I’d stay here again. I’d recommend. No issues or complaints.

Hotel Santo Stefano is a fantastic boutique hotel. The rooms are smallish (the nature of Venice architecture!) but beautifully appointed. The staff went out of their way to help us at every moment, the most invaluable help was with finding us places to eat. We had some of the best food we’ve ever had in Italy let alone Venice, and if you know anything about Venice it can be a mine field avoiding the tourist traps.
The location is simply wonderful, such a beautiful square, and you are no more than a 5 minute walk to all the areas you’re likely to visit. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Property was in a great location. The staff were friendly and accommodating. They arranged for water taxi for us and reconfirmed with the driver the morning of our departure. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Very good value for Venice.

Beautiful santo Stefano

What a beautiful little boutique hotel. So comfortable and welcoming. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time and wouldn’t hesitate to come back due to its location and comfortable surroundings.
Reception staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend a stay here!

It was a comfortable place located centrally to a plazzo I was doing a manuscript painting class. Loved the square the hotel is situated in. Lots of shops and places to eat. The staff were amazing. The receptionists were always helpful and friendly. Couldn’t do enough for me. They also arranged pick and drop off to the airport. This meant I was relaxed and not stressed about making my way from and to the airport. Had one of the best holidays. Really enjoyed the water taxi service 😊

Only stayed one night, but it was a lovely hotel. The front desk staff was so kind and helpful. Held our bags since we arrived early. The hotel and rooms are small but very nice (a very tight, winding staircase but we thought it was charming!), but it is in a beautiful square and easily walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. Would definitely recommend!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived before check in time, and as our room was ready, they granted us early check in which was very appreciated. We were pleased that the hotel had a lift so we did not have to carry our heavy bags up the stairs. We walked to this hotel from the train station, which was about a 20 minute walk. We travelled with back packs, and would highly recommend that instead of rolling luggage if you will also be walking. We would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Property space is too cramped, claustrophobic. Faulty shower door caused flood in bathroom, when reported to staff they said \"we will give you more towels\"!! Really, that is your safety plan for customers! They did not have another room to move us, so we left and had to face the inconveniences with children. They refused the refund for the night we did not stay. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

As long as you know what you are getting staying in a traditional Venetian hotel then you won’t be disappointed. The room was snug. The bed comfortable. We had everything we needed for our stay. The staff are very helpful and friendly and made our stay enjoyable. Recommended some good restaurants to boot.

I would definitely stay here again! It’s very petite and quaint, close to water taxi and restaurants.
About a ten minute walk to St. Marks square and shopping! It was a less busy area, which we appreciated! But still close to the square.
The staff were excellent! They arranged water taxis to the airport and gave excellent suggestions for food. The hotel does have a convenient breakfast which you can eat outside in the square!
It is also air conditioned :)

What a delightful place to stay! This small boutique hotel may have had small rooms, but they were adorable in decor, shower was nice and spacious, and bed was so comfortable! The staff was very helpful and warm. The add-on option of breakfast for 10 euro was AMAZING!!! Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a smaller hotel situated in a central part of Venice!

The guy at the front counter was super nice in helping me figure out transportation and recommendations for dinner. The bed is more firm than i like but i do have arthritis so that may be a factor. The shower has a rainfall shower head super amazing, but the private bath is outside the room which was in the listing. I would stay here again just get a room with the bathroom inside the room

Weekend in Venice

Bed was comfortable and the pillows were great. It was the only place to sit in the room but I actually didn’t mind because the pillows provided great support and there were enough of them to do the job. My only complaint was that the air conditioner never quite cooled the room down to the temperature set even when we ran it all night. If you slept in front of the vent it was fine but in the night it would go into eco mode and I would have to lower it from 25 Celsius *again*. The room is very small but we were able to get by. The shower had great pressure and the water was very warm. I actually couldn’t get it as cool as I wanted when I came in off the street and wanted to cool down. The breakfast was good and the staff attentive. The welcome box in our room was a welcome surprise. Room was quiet. I never heard the other guests or the elevator and we were on the backside of it in room 10 on the 4th floor. The hotel is conveniently located and we were able to wander the streets and get lost. I liked the complimentary items in the fridge.

Over looking an amazing court yard. The staff are great, rooms were clean and very small. You are in Venice, transportation is available by boat everywhere. Very expensive, avoid driving to Venice as parking is 45 euro a day plus you take a ferry to get into Venice. I would stay here again

I loved the complimentary wine and location. The stay was pretty good, but the breakfast offered was underwhelming. The pigeons located outside of the hotel in the breakfast seating area are very aggressive. The hotel staff has placed water bottles on each table for you to scare the pigeons away by spraying them away. I had to ask for an iron three times before receiving it. The communication between staff members changing each shift is lacking.

Excellent location, fabulous staff, and beautiful room with updated bathroom, nice shower amenities, kettle, and welcome macaroons and Bellinis.
We had heard that you don’t typically get your money’s worth for hotel rooms in Venice, but this place was incredible!
My only tiny suggestion for the hotel is to add some sort of ledge in the shower for one to place bath products on.
Highly recommend and will definitely stay there again. Also highly recommend the restaurant, A Beccafico Venezia, right on the square.
