Excellent! We got the room with the view of the Grand Canal and it was totally worth it. Full service European breakfast. And included a taxi ride to Marano, which is also a must see. We actually walked here from the main parking area. But you can also take a motoscafi or water taxi.

Staff were attentive and friendly. Hotel very stylish boutique vibe. Only issue the safe didn’t work. Terminals for the battery’s were corroded, which probably caused the malfunction. Great position would recommend.

Not great for gays

On arriving, after my partner had already check in, I was told that the room has a double bed (marital bed in Italian). It’s discriminatory to have to explain to the staff that we are a (gay) couple, as a straight couple would have never had to. This is just shameful in this day and age and in such a popular destination!
Also most rooms are next to the reception or the very noisy front door and therefore not quiet. Our room was very dark and hot, though nicely appointed. Breakfast was great and the breakfast staff fantastic, but all tables are weirdly set back, When the could be placed to the front of the room to face the Grand Canal. The approach to the hotel through the smallest lane is not brilliant.

Great boutique hotel with super service!

Incredible service and hospitality. Loved the team here - made us feel like family in a luxury hotel.

The hotel is easy to get to by water taxi, but the 'land' entrance opens up to a very narrow alley (just enough for 1 person to walk) of around 50 meters till you get to you the main street.

A bit difficult to find, but a very nice place with excellent service and friendly staff. The bedroom was large and the bathroom was high end. We enjoyed drinks on the second floor balcony where the bar is located. Use your GPS to navigate the area, but in walking distance to everything.

Location was great. The little ally way that you take to get into the back door was a bit scary the first time down it. We weren't sure we were going the right way, so a little more light and a few more signs would have helped. Would have liked a balcony.

Beautiful grand canal stay

Beautiful hotel - very well designed and right on the Grand Canal. You get the real Venetian experience. Highly recommend forking out for the water taxi arrival if you’re lucky and it’s quiet you can get a seat on the terrace in the bar area overlooking the canal. Some have mentioned finding it from the street difficult but we had no problems - the higgledy piggledy streets are just what Venice is about. If you don’t get lost you’re missing out in our view!!

This is a beautiful hotel with an amazing staff.
It was our 30th anniversary and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer place to stay.
This property is close to everything.
Breakfast in the morning was exceptional as well.

The location is good for sightseeing. The staff were sparse in number but very helpful and friendly.It seemed like an extraordinarily expensive B and B rather than a hotel. There was a bar but itt was empty and dark. A gin and tonic cost 15 euros.There was no atmosphere of warmth and welcoming. My room already costing 300 euros a night was shabby. The wardrobe was ricketty with kdoor knobs missing. Breakfast was served in the bar. All cold nothing except the coffee was served cooked or hot. KAs soon as I was shown my room I was invited to take an upgrade for a further 80 euros a night. Not my idea of luxury.

This hotel was absolutely amazing! It was right on the canal and nice and quiet at the same time. There is a great second floor bar with a few chairs outside to overlook the canal. It’s weird getting to the hotel as you go through an ally so ask for directions but don’t let that worry you, this place is amazing! Would stay here again in a second

Excellent hotel - highly recommended

This hotel was an excellent place to stay to explore Venice. We arrived at the front door (waterside) via a water taxi which was a fantastic experience.

The staff were all wonderful - kind yet professional & very efficient.

Breakfast was immense! A huge bowl of fresh fruit, cheese, meats & pastries. The fresh juices were delicious.

My only suggestion for a small improvement is the introduction of a pillow menu. The pillows in my room were thin and not particularly supportive. I would have appreciated something of a higher quality.

Other than that it was perfect! If I’m ever in Venice again, I will return!

Upon arriving at Palazzo Barbarigo, we were warming welcomed by Ivan and was extremely helpful getting us settled in. The next morning we were treated to the fabulous breakfast offered by the hotel and the service provided by Alex was excellent! We also met Valentina and appreciated her warm personality since sometimes it’s not always this good. Thank you Valentina!
The hotel is accessed easily by taxi boat (about 70Euros-15 min)) from Tronchetto car park or you can take the public boats (Vaporetto-at least 40 min) to San Toma Station.
Access to San Toma is via back alley ways. At first it may seem intimidating but don’t worry, all pathways in Venice are narrow. It is a 5 minute walk from the ferry stop to the hotel. The photos seem a little dark and may turn you off but once you arrive, it is a beautiful hotel giving it a mystical charm.
The hotel is located perfectly to reach all the touristic sights but situated in a nice quiet area. If you’re lucky enjoy a drink on their private balcony enjoying views of the grand canal. You will feel like James Bond!
For dinner I recommend Trattoria San Toma in the piazza near the hotel and ask for Antonio. Be there by 7:30 as it fills up quickly.
As shown by my rating I highly recommend Hotel Pallazo Barbarigo!

Absolute jewel of a hotel. Close to the water bus (vaporetto), but just far away enough from the Rialto Bridge to enjoy the quiet serenity of the island. The hotel decoration is luxurious, And the staff who all speak English, Were knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel entrance resembles something out of a James Bond movie ! We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

This is a great hotel. It is nestled away and takes a bit of finding, but once there you are surrounded by an aura of stylish tranquility. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and nothing is a problem for them. The spritz or coffee next to the Grand Canal is always an unmissable experience and the location is central and easily accessible from Santa Lucia or Piazzale Roma without being in amongst the tourist hoard of San Marco or Rialto. A great experience and we shall be back!

Liked the room.
Getting to the property was difficult for a first time visitor to Venice. The main entrance to the hotel is ON the Grand Canal so must take a water taxi. Rear entrance is at the end of Calle Corner, which is a very barrow alley and a bit difficult to find.

It’s Venice

Finding a hotel that has everything you are looking for is difficult. This hotel and the staff certainly try however. It was clean, the staff extremely accommodating and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good. Please keep in mind that it’s Venice. Water when standing for a long time has a certain odor and occasionally this odor permeated the room. Not pleasant but we were rarely in the room. I suggest investing in dehumidifiers. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Located just next to the Grand Canal and close to San Toma pier. Very accessible, despite its entrance opens into a very small alley that you may miss. Staff said most guest arrive by water taxi but we took the water bus.
Room is relatively smaller than my other stays in Italy but it is well decorated. The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is spacious as well. The tiles of the shower place may be slippery after use.
I liked the breakfast. There are many choices of bread that is soft and warm, fruits, cheese and ham.
Front desk staff is helpful and welcoming. One morning we needed to go for an early tour and they helped us to prepare the breakfast earlier.
I am really happy about the stay with Palazzo Barbarigo.

Beautiful hotel - firm mattresses

What a beautiful hotel and a lovely breakfast. The hotel is very hard to find by foot - the street you go down is very narrow and even having been to Venice before, it was a little confusing. The staff is great - very kind and accommodating. The mattresses though are terribly firm. They were kind and tried to soften it a bit with blankets, but it wasn’t enough. So while I’d recommend the hotel to others, my one caveat is that, unless you like an extremely firm (we’re talking a few steps above a hard floor) bed, just be careful.

We were back at this hotel a year after our previous stay. The hotel is absolutely stunning. Our room was a perfect sanctury with a comfy bed and the best rain shower that brought me back to life after a cold day outside. The lounge area has beautiful views of the Grand Canal. Some rooms are facing the grand canal as well, others face a smaller side canal. I can go through features and amenities, but the thing I will remember most is the feel of tranquility and peace that this exquisite hotel gives you. It’s a perfect place to relax and recharge before storming the crowded streets of Venice.

Great Location

Elegant but needs attention! The hotel is lovely but needs a lick of paint. Our room had scuffs and marks in the bathroom/loo and main bedroom. Staff overall were great and friendly. One morning at breakfast a member of staff was stressed as he claimed he was the only one on duty, hence my wife's wait of 20 mins for a cappuccino. Departure and arrival experience was excellent.

Perfect boutique hotel on Canal!

After being stuck in a car for three hrs at Slovenian/Crotia border so glad to turn in car at Venice airport and jump in a water taxi that brought us to front door of hotel. Then greeted by a Daniel who welcome us with warm greetings and a great itinerary. The hotel was so beautifully decorated and such a relaxing atmosphere. Our room overlooked a side canal and could open window with a nice breeze miss it already! Just side note the hotel is down three narrow corridors off main st. Felt like heading to a mysterious speak easy. But worth the walk. Love our stay💞

On the grand canal but away from the crowds. Highly suggest a private taxi to get you there the first time since it is hard to find by public transportation.
Well worth the search and the cost compared to other hotels in Venice. Can not say enough great things about this place.

Perfect romantic getaway!

We just came back from a trip to Italy which included stops in Rome, Florence, Milan and Venice. While all of the hotels we stood in were lovely, this is the only one that I feel deserved a written review. The hotel itself is gorgeous, our room was tastefully appointed, the daily breakfast was a work of art, and the staff were friendly and professional. Out of all the hotels we stayed in during our trip, my girlfriend and I easily found this hotel to be the most romantic. In fact, it was so romantic, we plan on now making Palazzo Barbarigo Sul Canal Grande one of our honeymoon spots! As far as value, we believe it was well worth the price we paid per night. Absolutely perfect!

A TRULY 5-Star hotel at an affordable price

Where do I start? This was my wife and I's first trip to Venice. We had no idea of what location was good prior to booking the Palazzo Barbarigo and we were VERY pleased with the location. We arrived at midnight via a water taxi directly from the airport which we HIGHLY recommend especially if you arrive after dark. You will never find the entrance by foot. We actually took a funny video of us walking to the entrance during the day, but once you find it once....it' very easy. The hotel itself has a very boutique feel about it. Only 30 rooms and you feel the personal attention immediately upon arrival. During our 4 night stay, we never had to wait to speak with the onsite attendant who was very informative and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated with a great window view of the canal. The breakfast was SUPERB! Fresh breads, fruits, meats & cheeses every morning. The location: only 5 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge (center of everything), 5 Minute walk to the transportation center, and 10 minute walk to the San Marco Basillica and Doge Castle. The pictures online are accurate. We have traveled all over the world and we consider this hotel as one of the best that we have stayed at.

It is a perfect hotel in Venice.

Just a remarkable hotel. The staff are wonderful and will take time to show you their Venice and suggestions. The rooms are designed perfectly and if you splurge a tiny bit and get the corner suite you will be amazed. The regular rooms are great too. The second floor lounge is a pleasure and Alex a perfect host. Breakfast with Violeta and Pamela is a treat. The manager treats it like you have arrived a guest at his home for the weekend.

Arrive by water taxi.....not vaporetto. So worth it. Once again....just book it you won't regret it.

Beautiful hotel...great staff and location!

Lovely chic hotel with very attentive staff. Comfy beds, gorgeous bathrooms and great views of the Grand Canal. Perfectly situated to explore all the main sites without being too close to the busy, more crowded areas. Would strongly recommend arriving by private boat taxi - they will pick you straight up from the airport and take you directly to the front of the hotel, via the canals. So glad we did this as opposed to wasting money on a short and very expensive gondola ride.

My wife and I wanted a very nice hotel to enjoy our honeymoon in Venice. This hotel was everything we were looking for and more. The staff was great, the room was very elegant and clean. We were given a complementary bottle of champagne with handwritten note congratulating us on our marriage and wishing a happy honeymoon. We were given a map and a detailed explanation of Venice with attraction sites and restaurant recommendations. They had great suggestions. We loved this place.

A lovely hotel in a great neighbourhood

We recently spent 6 nights in this lovely hotel. It's just the right size. Not too many rooms and small enough for personal attention to the guests. The location was away from the crowds in a friendly neighbourhood. We felt part of the community by the time we left for home.

The beds were comfortable and the bed linens divine. Our room was kept very clean and we were provided with fresh bottled water daily. We had a walk-in shower. The hairdryer was great. What more could we ask....except for better lighting in the bathroom. It was difficult to see in the mirror when trying to put on make-up and doing your hair.

We enjoyed that breakfast hours weren't set so we could relish in our holiday time and sleep in if we felt like it knowing there would still be a delicious meal awaiting us.

A gem in Venice. This was our first trip to the city and couldn’t have picked a better location to stay in - the San Polo area. The hotel itself is directly on the canal. The closest vaporetto stop is a 5 minute walk away, while the train station is a 10-15 min walk. The back entrance to the hotel, which is how you enter if walking, is a bit difficult to find as it’s through two tiny back alleys - however it wasn’t a big deal at all as we managed with 3 suitcases. We received lovely, personalized service from the owner and staff, who have a rich knowledge of the area and gave great recommendations on what to see and where to eat. I believe all the rooms face the canal. We had a room on the bottom floor which is directly on the water - it was an amazing experience!

The hotel is difficult to find if on foot. Internet didn't work at all in the room during the 2 day stay. The major disappointment was the presence of ants in the bathroom some of which had found their way to the bed. The friendliness of the service made up for these short comings and I would stay again.

This was our first stop on our tour of Italy. Pulling up on water taxi to the front door was amazing. We were greeted by a very helpful and welcoming staff. The hotel and rooms were very spacious, modern and clean. We loved the small, quaint size of the hotel, and the location was perfect. Location was far enough from the crowds to feel like you were part of Venice, not the tourist line. Breakfast was amazing. Fresh pastries and fruit every morning along with meat, cheeses and drinks. Our only regret was not staying longer. If you stay here, make sure to visit Osteria La Patatina. Recommended by the hotel and they were spot on. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Amazing Hotel and Staff

Tucked away in a little corridor there is this little gem. We were greeted by a very friendly and knowledge man (sorry we forgot his name, but he was bald and wore glasses) He was so friendly and welcoming. This really set our Venice visit to an amazing start. He was so knowledgeable and make fantastic recommendations. The staff in the bar and restaurant was also amazing.

The only thing we notice is there was no kettle in the room. apart from that our stay was amazing and would recommended this Hotel! We look forward to coming back.

Elegant but not pretentious

Wow...what a perfect experience! The water taxi from the train station took us through idyllic Venetian canals and dropped us off at the front door/deck of Palazzo Barbarigo right on the Grand Canal! Christiano and Valentina welcomed us and immediately we knew our stay was going to be memorable. The location is on the quiet side of the canal (opposite St. Marks and the cruise ships) but within easy walking distance of everything. The hotel only has 18 rooms, is more elegant than quaint, very unique, intimate, and romantic. It's definitely a Luxury Boutique Hotel but with an elegant B&B feel. The rate includes a beautifully served breakfast. The building itself is the star attraction, over 500 years old, but the staff are what you will remember...attentive, genuine, and professional!

Our Own Private Palazzo!

We had a fantastic three days in Venice... From the moment we arrived on our own transfer boat on a stunningly sunny day from the airport to the hotel's private pier on the grand canal we received a five star service! Upon check in we were given directions to the best spots to visit in the city - we walked seven miles in one afternoon and ticked off all the hotel's amazing recommendations, from churches to restaurants. That night we headed to the bar, which we had to ourselves and finished the evening with cocktails on the balcony on the grande canal! On day two we got upgraded to a Junior Suite (Room 6) on the Grand Canal - ftw! Each morning we ate late when we got up (breakfast is anytime you want, which is a brilliant policy! so that we always dined on our own, making it feel like we'd hired out the whole palace to ourselves. The hotel went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable & memorable. I would definitely stay at Palazza Barbarigo on our next visit and I have already recommended it to friends heading there next month!

Nice hotel, but value for money??

Easy 10 minute walk from the bus or train station so forget the expensive water taxis! Although the walk does end with a slightly odd walk down a series of what look like dead end alleys - but at the end there is a welcoming sign! The hotel itself looks fabulous inside, all dark colours and beautiful wood and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. I felt the room was underwhelming and even more so was the 'canal view', considering the price I paid for it. But the wifi was good, the little bar was nice though it lacked any atmosphere and the breakfast was one of the best I've had - cold meats/cheeses and pastries and fruit all nicely presented.
I probably would stay there again but only if I could get a reasonable price. It's not worth splashing out on this hotel . .

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights for girlfriends birthday. Fantastic hotel, great location with stunning scenery. Service was brilliant, rooms were serviced twice a day. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, willing to go out of their way for you. All requests made we're met, would definitely visit again & would recommend to anyone. Junior Suites Grand Canal view a must do, definitely worth doing with outstanding views!

Grand Canal Hotel

This is such a beautiful hotel, right on the Grand Canal, the location gets your anywhere in little more than 10 minutes. Breakfast is great, beautiful fruit and breads and fresh pastries etc.

The hotel staff are all so helpful too, especially for us, as first time visitors.

I really can't recommend it highly enough, so much to enjoy!

A wonderful hotel! Beautiful decor and very friendly, helpful staff. The hotel had an intimate, boutique feel and the service felt personal and thoughful. The rooms were clean with modern amenities. The hotel had a lovely bar with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal and the breakfasts were amazing - great coffee and a lovely selection of fresh fruit, pastries and breads!!

The location was perfect - a lovely area with great little shops and plenty of restaurants which were not too touristy or overpriced. It was a 10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco and all the main sights.

Simply outstanding - perfect for a romantic break

We stayed here at the start of our Honeymoon & wow did we make a good choice! I've stayed in 5* hotels all round the world & this is up there with the best of them in my opinion. It's a small tightly run operation, but service was just perfect - always there when you needed it, but never in your face. We were fortunate to get an upgrade to a room with a picture window view out over the Grand Canal. Simply stunning & my new wife was suitably impressed! The location is kind of quirky, but we found numerous fantastic local restaurants nearby which were much better value & more atmospheric than over on the main island... We will be back!

We took a 2 day trip to Venice from Rome. I was looking for a place that was close to many attractions. The hotel might be a little tricky to get to unless your arriving via water taxi, but we thought the hotel was fantastic. The decor of the hotel was very sleek and the pictures of the hotel are accurate. The hotel staff members were very informative about things to see in Venice. We'd definitely stay again.

The hotel has great views to the canal and is centrally located close to all the major attractions. Good Breakfast and comfortable room. The station of S Toma i very close by and Rialto is a 10min walk so there is no hassle in getting around

Beautiful place to stay

A beautiful hotel with great staff and breakfast. The door is in a small alley and may be hard to find. About a 10 minute walk from the Piazzale Roma, 20 minute bus ride from airport for $8. 15 minutes walk to Rialto bridge and another 10 minutes to St Marks Square. Use Google Maps to find everything. Lots of food in the area with many small alleys to explore.
Although you have to pay extra for eggs, the breakfast is huge with plenty of fresh fruits, pastries, fresh squeezed juice, and coffees. Yes, the rooms are dark, but really nicely decorated. And being right at the main canals is such a treat. Incredible bed and breakfast - nice to speak with the owner - he is so interesting and full of suggestions.

Beautiful Hotel with an Amazing View

I would recommend this hotel to anyway staying in Venice. The rooms were lavish and clean. The view from our room to the canal was breathtaking. It was far enough from the busiest areas but close enough to walk to. It is although difficult to find on foot upon arriving at the train station, best bet is to take a water taxi which will bring you to the front entrance of the hotel.

The heat in the room knows only one temperature...hot! Had to turn it off resulting in no air circulation. Opened windows which let in a horde of mosquitos from the canal below. We were totally bitten..10 bites on one arm for starters. Another guest complained of the same thing. There is no light in the bathroom with which to put on makeup or to shave. Lighting in bedroom is very dim. Very hard to find, must go down 3 dark, narrow alleys and ring a buzzer to get in. Nice chocolates with turn down.

a bit of a let down considering all the positive reviews. The alley way you have to go down to arrive is so tiny and long and out of the way, my wife felt unsafe leaving the hotel by herself. They said breakfast was included but then charged 5 euro for eggs. Other things were just a little off like the TV being mounted completely off, the mirror having a TV screen in it that only showed static and the button to flush the toilet only half functional.

Comfortable and Kitschy Hotel

This was our last hotel during a 3 week honeymoon in France and Italy. We splurged a bit on this one compared to our other hotels but it was worth the extra money. Overall the hotel is awesome. It's in a great location (right on grand canal), has a cool look and feel and free breakfast. My wife did say that some people complained that the canal view from the rooms isn't great but it was fine with me. In general though it's in a great location, has helpful staff and comfortable rooms.

Just dusty floor.
Would definitely recommend, just need to find the most narrow path and go down that path that you would never consider going down. it goes far down the main road and then a left and a right

Brilliant boutique hotel on Grand Canale

Great room (smaller than expected) on the Grand Canale. Definitely worth the upgrade to a Junior Suite. Love how the hotel is close to shops but tucked away from Main Street. Think about booking breakfast on the individual spot on the balcony overlooking the canal. Great staff and great cocktails at the bar. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Venice Experience

We stayed at the Palazzo Barbarigo Sul Canal Grande August 26th and 27th. From the time the owner met us at the door and personally took the time to help us look over a map of the city and add his recommendations for the best sights and restaurants to visit during our stay, followed by a private tour of the facilities we felt at home.

The Hotel is creatively and tastefully decorated making the stay a one of a kind experience. Our first floor room had a window that opened directly onto the Grand Canal, even when we were in our room we had a wonderful view and could enjoy the city even when we took a break from walking the city.

Hotel was lovely. I think with a few tweaks the breakfast could be better e.g: fresh(not carton) milk, bigger tables (all a bit cramped), better yoghurt - but the fruit was great. Room was very clean and noise wasn't an issue. We did get lost trying to get back to the hotel so a sign on the wall would help, but not a major issue - nice place to get lost in! Bar area nice and well worth a drink on the balcony.

Our hotel was a welcome retreat after walking through an endless maze of small alleys of restaurants, stores and wonderful venetian people. Fantastic location/ hotel

Met upon arrival by Christian, who is very knowledgable about Venice, he offered advice on places of interest for our stay. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, they happily went out their way to assist us.
The hotel's location on the Grande Canal is fantastic. It is right on the main tourist route around Venice. Very easy to find, even although the back door entrance is down a long twisting alleyway.
The hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms must be sound proofed as I never heard a single noise from other guests and I'm a light sleeper. The room would be turned down every night ready for bed and chocolates were placed on the pillows.
If I were to return to Venice I would definitely stay here again.

Amazing hotel

Our stay at Palazzo Barbarigo was amazing. The hotel was beautiful and the view from our room was lovely - out over the Grand Canal. The staff were really helpful with bookings and recommendations. I would suggest arriving by water taxi as it is a more exciting (and easier) root. It also adds to the feeling of luxury.

The Hotel itself is a little off from the main tourist area which we really liked as we found some nice little bars near by. Having said that it is still only a 15/20min walk to San Marco. Or there is a Vappereto right around the corner.

Definitely going to be going back to this hotel again when we are next in Venice.
