Probably most central and I think most modern hotel on the island. Public spaces, lobby, gardens are lovely and rooms are well lit, beautifully appointed and very comfy beds. Keep in mind that it is a historic building so bathrooms are tight but mine was bright, updated, CLEAN with great hot water pressure. Good mirrors for makeup etc. mini fridge, mini split ac iron hair dryer everything you’ll need. Only reason not 5 stars is shoulder season restaurant was closed. But coffee and small bar served in lobby. Pretty gardens and porch!!

We loved this adorable hotel. The room was quaint and cozy, the staff was very friendly, and the grounds were amazing. There is a life size chess board near a very pleasant outdoor seating area under an old willow tree. Right out of a story book! Even made friends with the roosters that reside in the back :)

A lovely gem walkable to town in one direction and other hotels (especially Spring House where you can cocktail on the lawn) in the other direction. Having a room with a balcony was a plus for gorgeous breezes. But we forewarned, bathrooms are tiny.

We love the lobby and the staff. The grounds are beautiful! Our room had a private deck overlooking the rear gardens which are lovely and expansive. Fay went above and beyond to be sure all our needs were met- from very late check out to keeping something frozen for us which was important.

Lovely hotel close to the center of town for dining, shopping and bike/scooter rental. The woman at the front desk was really helpful at check in and made great dining recommendations. We arrived mid spring, so shops and restaurants just starting to open, and the hotel provided a list of what was open. Our room was lovely - attention to detail in the way it was decorated and furnished. Only issue is it took a while for the hot water to come up (about 20 mins) while it was cold outside. Not a big deal, we weren't in a rush.

The location of the hotel is excellent. It’s an Easy walk to old harbor, the ferry, Ballards beach, shopping, 1661 farm and bicycle rentals. Friendly helpful staff at front desk and in housekeeping. The Hotel lobby is charming and comfortable with self serve coffee and water on hand. There’s also small bar inside the lobby and out on patio in front of the hotel. A perfect place to relax and watch the passersby. I Didn’t love the steep stairs to the third floor (no elevator, which is common in block island) but the room was lovely, had a queen bed and a distant water view. The air conditioning worked great, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean and freshly decorated. The mini bar and snack selection in the room was reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.

The hotel was very pleasant. We really enjoyed the orange infused water in the lobby. The rooms were clean and stylish. And then a borrow is fully stocked. The bike rack right out front was very helpful. The porch was beautiful with the bar and the couches and the ceiling fans. Great location away from Town, so that was quite enough but close enough to town to go and be part of the action. Also, it was a surprise to see that there were cows corralled behind a fence neighboring the hotel very beautiful. The restaurant food was the best we had on the island.

We had a billing issue that escalated very quickly from a simple problem with a credit card into an owner threatening us with theft and calling the police. The issue was a misunderstanding and resolved within 4 hours.

The hotel staff was beyond amazing since I first booked and contacted them. I was traveling to propose and they helped when I was preparing the trip. The restaurant was unbelievably good, we were happily surprised with the quality of the food. The hotel staff was great enough to decorate the entire room with flowers and champagne at no extra charge after the proposal. The room was very clean with a nice balcony. I hope to return one day, thank you all for providing excellent service and going above and beyond to make our stay something extra special.

We had a delightful visit to the Manisses last weekend. The rooms were large and modernized with new door locks and other improvements, but the atmosphere of previous times was maintained in the décor of the rooms, and the spacious downstairs area, where there was room to sit down and have a coffee in small, spread -out comfortable couches. Outside, there was a beautiful cosey valley with many widely separate spots with tables and chairs to have a drink or dinner. The host at the desk was a gem- friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. By her keeping our baggage safe before and after our one-night stay, and allowing us to change for swimming, in the bathroom, we made our one night stay into a two-day visit to Block Island, whose main attractions were a short walk or bike ride from the hotel.

Our overall stay was great but we just had an issue with the staff when trying to check in on the first day. We were initially told check in was at 3:00 but they changed it to 4:00 without giving us any prior notice and gave us some attitude when we tried to discuss with them. Had we known about the change in check in time we would have changed our travel plans to arrive later in the day. We understand these folks work very hard and it is tough to turn over rooms but communication is key! We are more than happy to work with you and we really enjoyed our stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Manisses for 3 nights. It was lovely. The room was bright and airy. The bathroom was very large as well. The Manisses is a great place to stay because of the location. Everything is walkable. There is also a great restaurant downstairs that we frequented twice. Overall, it was a great stay on Block Island.

It was our 27th anniversary, so I decided to spring for a lovely Memorial day weekend stay. The staff were most attentive, the restaurant and bar were well-run, and with some delicious food and drink. The Manisses is very conveniently located to the center of town without BEING in the center of town (quieter), and has the most beautiful gardens in the back. Highly recommended.

Spoke to two different hotel front desk employees prior to our visit. I wanted to be sure to get information about our late arrival, after front desk closed. The second call included a request for a later checkout and the very helpful person indicated the latest we could have the room for was 12:00 pm I said we would love that as we had a later ferry departure and wanted the convenience of the access to our room. She indicated we could leave our bags in lobby after our 12:00 pm check out. On Sunday am we received our first knock on the door from a lovely housekeeper we indicated we had a 12:00 pm checkout she said ok and went on to other rooms. A short time later we hear more knocks and before we could get to the door we see the morning desk clerk showing potential guests the outside space of our room from am adjacent balcony. Still before 12;00 pm one more knock. The young woman assigned to Sunday morning knocked three times at 1145 saying check out was 11:00. I explained we had a 12:00 pm arranged ahead and she says I spoke to you and you didn’t ask. I didn’t speak to her I spoke to a very kind young lady who was on Friday eve. Now I go to the desk to check out and the person from. Friday is there I said oh I spoke to you for the late check out and this other front desk employee appears to think otherwise. Her response oh the room is booked now and wasn’t at the time? So we spent the day touring more of the island returning occasionally to rest on the hotel porc

For the price, the hotel was disappointing. We booked the double king bedroom with vaulted ceilings. The ceiling is peeling off and the same is happening in the bathroom. We forgot toothpaste and the hotel had nothing to offer us except to say that we could go ask at the front desk of another hotel; however, the owner did bring us some baking soda to compensate. Overpriced we had a premium room. Our room needed a paint job there was peeling paint on the ceilings. No coffee in the morning. Staff were not helpful never offered to help with dinner suggestions, what to do around the island. We thought Rhode Island had a mask mandate but none of the staff wore masks including housekeeping. Would not return to this hotel there is no water view and at almost 600 dollars per night including taxes there are much better options at a cheaper price. Booked at the Manisses because it was the only option near old town at the time we booked.

Loved the interior, evrything was just perfect. The bedding is exceptional, the shower is super clean and new. The territory behind is a magic garden. Nearby all the shops and the beaches.

I guess for close to $700 for one night, I was expecting something nicer. The pictures were deceiving to say the least. There was no soap and the complimentary beverages in the fridge were spoiled. The orange juice was brown with floaters in it. The balcony overlooked a bunch of vent stacks and no water view. I usually dont write negative reviews but I was just so disappointed that I felt like someone should know what your getting...

Nice old hotel (like all on Block Island) in Old Harbor. Clean and recently updated but small odd shaped rooms. We had a wonderful balcony but sadly no water view. Would have been better, however the restaurant was closed both days of our stay, no food service at all. There was no help in carrying luggage old steep stairs. Horrible TV availability in the rooms (only a handful of channels). Ella was the only staff available. She was friendly and helpful but she was a “one-woman show”. No concierge service.
