I recently stayed at Aquamarine Resort after booking through Expedia, and unfortunately the experience did not match what was advertised in the listing.
While the room itself was generally acceptable, the bathroom was extremely small and not very functional. Additionally, the in-room refrigerator was unplugged and unusable upon arrival, which reflects a lack of proper room preparation and added unnecessary inconvenience.
More concerning, however, was the clear gap between the advertised amenities and the actual experience. The listing promoted activities and themed entertainment, but in reality, activities were either poorly organized or entirely nonexistent. There were no meaningful “theme nights” as described, which made the resort feel misleading.
The food quality was also significantly below expectations. It was comparable to basic cafeteria food, with very limited variety, making meals repetitive and disappointing throughout the stay.
The resort also seemed to cater primarily to local visitors, and communication was sometimes challenging due to limited English among staff. While the staff were polite and well-intentioned, this did make it more difficult to address concerns during the stay.
Overall, this experience did not reflect the value or standard presented on Expedia, and I feel I was overcharged for what was provided. Given the discrepancies and lack of advertised amenities, I believe a partial refund would be a fair and reasonable resolution.

We didn't get fresh towels and there was only one washcloth, that never got replaced. There were two of us in the room. Also, I had reserved a king bed but got two full sized beds. We stayed for 2 nights. You get access to the beach, jetski rental, kayak rental. Ferry to isla mujeres is within walking distance. The hotel is nice. The food was ok and you dont get name brand drinks in the all inclusive package. But overall we had a good time and the price is reasonable for what you get.

The first night we checked in, we were given a tiny room with two beds with balcony instead of a King Bed.
Shower and toilet were in one tiny, depressed room.
All night doors and balcony sliding door was making noices. Couldn't sleep at all.
First thing in the next morning i went changed the room and paid extra to stay comfortably. I m now considering not to use expedia.

Aquamarina Beach Hotel has a very good location, close to the beach and convenient for getting around. The hotel offers great value for the price, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was done on time and the room was kept clean.
However, there were a couple of downsides: the hot water was limited, and the blankets provided at night were not warm enough, so it felt a bit cold.
Overall, it’s a good choice for a budget-friendly stay with an excellent location.

I cut my bracelet off before checkout and for some reason they told me that I had to go retrieve it from the trash!! This is a budget all-inclusive resort and is worth every penny.
The rooms are extremely clean, although the bathrooms are a bit small. One of the best features is that every room appears to have an ocean view, which is a huge plus for a resort in this price range.
The food is good, not great, but acceptable for a budget all-inclusive.
What truly stands out is the staff. Everyone — from the front desk and bellhops to housekeeping, waitstaff, bartenders, and security — was outstanding and very welcoming.
I traveled solo and stayed for six nights. I had stayed here over 30 years ago and returned for nostalgia. I honestly enjoyed it even more this time and would definitely stay again.

My room was very clean and staff was amazing. The noice was awful the next door people were very rude, loud and slamming doors at 2 am or yelling through the hallways. I had an issue with an employee at the food place. He was so annoyed when I requested a plain cheeseburger for my son who has lots of food texture issues. Thankfully, another employee interfered and he switched things around. The ladies and gentleman at the front desk were awesome as well as all the people in the main restaurant.

The safes were broken, we got a letter saying that they weren't responsible for our valuables if they're out of the safe. But in the end nothing got stolen, the housekeeping staff were very nice. Hotel was quite run down. Food was ok. Air conditioning worked well, bed was comfortable. Really good price. They charged us $21 per day to use the fridge, plus some other fees that were smaller. Not perfect but good for what we needed.

The staff was good, I just did not appreciate the extra fee at the check in and making you sign that you agree of to pay that fee otherwise you must go to another hotel. also they give you a tv remote control and check in and must return at check out, in all of my travels I have never seen this, not even in two star hotels. and the wait at the check out so they can check the room before they can gave me a receipt, I do not know is this common in al the hotels, but definitely I will not book that hotel again

This resort was a huge disappointment. The room smelled like mold the moment we walked in. The bedding and towels were old, worn out, and didn’t feel clean. It was honestly uncomfortable staying there. On top of that, the front desk staff Daniel was rude, unwelcoming, and clearly didn’t care about guest satisfaction. Basic hospitality was completely missing. I would never stay here again and definitely do not recommend it.

Got there at 9:40am i was on line and they called over the lady behind me and asked how can we help you totally ignoring me and my family. They stated we can not give you a room until 3pm when they acknowledged me. We had to sit in waiting area until 11 were permitted to go into the buffet section where the food was not good at all and it was the repeat items daily. At the pool section there was another buffet and one day i went in with my daughters in our bathing suits as we would get in pool after and they told us to get out and go put clothes on i was truly upset with the experience i also brought insulin with me as i am diabetic and noticed fridge in room was off i asked and they wanted to charge a couple hundred pesos to use it which i did not pay. A lot of money spent and felt horrible the whole time.

The resort was wonderful for a quiet vacation, the beach is wadeable but not really swimmable because of the seaweed. It is a close walk to the Ferry. The staff is nice, but not many of them speak english. The rooms are very clean and nice! We only ate at the buffett for all inclusive once because EXPEDIA was very dishonest in their presentation of the price of the all inclusive resort, and when I spoke with someone to book my stay she led me to believe it was all inclusive, but when we got there we found out the price we paid did not include meals. This was not the resorts fault but I will definitely NEVER BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA AGAIN. They were no help and took no responsibility.

Listen to the other bad reviews and do not stay here… if you do, do not pay the all inclusive package. The food is horrendous, they had raw meatballs on the buffet that were nor hot or cold… The midday “snack” is watered down nachos, and the cheapest looking pizza I’ve ever seen, imagine worse than Totino’s frozen pizzas if you’re from the US. We basically ate salad there and had to get food other places.They say they will charge you if you use the mini fridge or kitchenette in the room, normally those are INCLUDED in a All-Inclusive package?? The towels they have are extremely rough and ripped up. The bathroom has no exhaust fan, once you shower it stays humid in the bathroom until the next day midday. If you have asthma or mold allergies I do not recommend this place, I had a very bad flare up in my 3 days stay. The service at the front counter was awful, Esther is a very rude. The breakfast waiters are also VERY RUDE. If you have CHILDREN, this place closes the pool at 8. If you plan to stay here and go to the beach all day there will be no time to enjoy the pool when you get back because they close it so early? The beach area they have is black and full of seaweed… The most disappointing part. The margaritas and pina coladas are also pretty bad, watered down and chunky ice. Beds are hard, they are also not a queen size my husband and I sleep comfortably in a queen size at home but here we slept separately because the beds are so small . Not a 4 star hotel.

Great pools but not a dreamy beach due to seaweed which is not the fault of the hotel. It’s a sweet hotel that host families. This is not a Cancun party destination. It is helpful to know some Spanish if you stay here. Easy access to buses, Puerto Cancun ( giant shopping mall).

This place is nice enough. Everything is average.The staff is nice, but not going out of their way to make sure your have great stay. They charge you to turn on the refrigerator. The breakfast was good. The walls were so thin that I could hear the cellphone alerts from the room next door. I could hear their snoring as well. The towels were all very work out and ripped. There is no wifi. They claim there is wifi but when you arrive they tell you the wifi isn't working.
