Where do I start…
staff greeted us friendly, we paid extra for a kitchenette (shown in pictures) and we received a room with a little kitchen with a small fridge, microwave and sink…no dishes or cutlery or stove top to cook).
Room was ok, dated but ok, we had partial ocean view but our door faced the Main Street and had and inch gap at the bottom so bugs and stuff could get in and the noise until 3 am from the bars and motor bikes and pulmonías was LOUD. The balcony facing the ocean was the only quiet place. We asked to change rooms and it was extra charge, bed was very soft, we asked to change rooms no it was extra, everything was extra. We asked for a warm blanket and they sent us another duvet cover, (white was not white). Very low end hotel. It came right away and the manger called right away to see if it was sent!
The pool…small, no swim up like the pictures showed. There is a bar beside it to get drinks at à cost. Pool was missing half the tiles. Loungers were OLD and repainted, if you wanted to lay on one of the beds it was 400 pesos for the day. Beach was very nice.

Long story short, if you were not Mexican they did not see you ! We left 4 days early and went to the RIU for the rest of our vacation. Will never stay here again

Located in the Golden Zone, the hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Malecón, plus lots of stores and restaurants, which made shopping, day trips, and taxi/Uber rides a breeze.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and can't wait to return to Mazatlán. Staff were incredibly friendly (about half spoke some English), and the restaurant, Condimento, offered a massive, delicious breakfast buffet that includes excellent Mexican and American food, plenty of fresh fruit, plus hot and savory dishes. Sandra and Adan took great care of us and made us feel welcome everyday. Angel, who runs the pool side bar, did a lovely job anticipating our needs and ensuring that we were comfortable lounging in the cabanas.
We spent our weeklong stay in a spacious Junior Suite that had a spectacular view of the ocean, perfect for watching pelicans dive and hunt.
Small note: our wing of the hotel was immediately next door to several restaurants and La Rosalía, which is a nightclub, so we were a little worried about noise during our first night (Saturday) given all the mariachi bands performing on the beach and parties we could hear all night, but thereafter it was rather quiet for the rest of the week, with events wrapping up around 10-11pm. Plenty of fantastic mariachi musicians during the day, but nothing that interfered with sleep or resting up for day excursions. (From the hotel courtyard, you can hardly hear anything except the ocean quite frankly.)
Honestly, a week isn't long enough for this gem.

Most of the staff was amazing. Cleaning ladies were so fun and friendly. The night time security staff was a bit over the top. The old man was very rude to my guests and wouldn't even let them use the bathroom (10 feet away) without paying $35 to enter. I would recommend looking for another hotel if you have friends staying at other hotels. We ended up spending over $140 on additional wrist bands just to have my friend's be able to walk through the property to the beach.
We did find a cockroach in our room as well which was a bit concerning. The cleaning ladies took care of it immediately though.

The gym is the worst Ive been in. No signage to even find it. Water cooler bottle never changed in a week. No towels one day and floors not swept. Limited weights to have any kind of work out. Only buffet breakfast available can’t order of the menu. If you like quiet during the day as it was like a ghost town. No one to be found pool side during the day but very noisy at night from vehicles loud music every night until 4 in the morning. Staff were friendly and the rooms were kept clean. I probably wouldn’t go back to this resort again. Not terrible but not great.

My wife and I stayed for a couple days second week of May 2025. We originally had reservations at a different resort after doing a lot of research prior to coming here. We decided to switch to El Emporio after some friends decided on joining us and recommended the area “zona dorada”. While we did make the best of it, our stay was not to expectations compared to other resorts in Mexico we have stayed at. The food was good. First day we ordered a la carte and what we ordered as good. Subsequent days we had the buffet. The first buffet the girl made some delicious omelets. The second day it was another girl who had no clue how to make an omelet, it ended being more like a scramble. Not a big deal, was still good. Overall, good food choices with all kinds of flavors. For some reason, I really enjoyed the oatmeal the best. Now the issues, we reserved an “ocean side” view. And yes, we had a view of the ocean from our windows, but, our room was at the front of the hotel which was the furthest from the ocean and closest to the street. As a result, we heard the traffic and outside noise all night. The water went out on us while showering on the second day. Was able to barely finish with a trickle to get the shampoo off until it went out completely. We let the front desk know and the receptionist stated it was odd and to let the maintenance staff know. I went a day before my reservation’s date to ensure the 8 rooms reserved and I asked if my family arrives between 2-3 pm would they be able to leave their Lauggage before 3pm. And they said that it was not a problem. I also recommended for 3-4 other families to stay at this hotel. When my family arrived around 2:20 pm we couldn’t checked in at that time. We had to wait until 3 pm supposedly none of the rooms were available before 3 pm.

Location near many restaurants and mucho tiendas for shopping… local green bus is about $1 to and 10-15 min ride go to old Mazatlan.. or can walk along beach or wide beachfront walkway… best hot water and shower pressure out of 8 hotels on our trip… hot tub actually had reasonably hot water in it… though it’s a popular spot! Beach out front not bizzy and perfect for tanning.. view and sunsets spectacular!!

Really loud noise in the bar next door until 1:45 AM. The band played with a bass that was so loud we could feel vibration in the bed. And earplugs didn’t help at all. Our roof came down in middle of the night, after we notified the hotel they didn't have any available room at that time. The next morning they were going to move us to a downgraded room but if we haven't have asked for a room just like the one we booked, they wouldn't have given it to us, the manager then came to talk to us and told us that the rooms we were in were just renovated in which they didn't look like it at all, the manager then said they were going to find a solution for us in which they didn't until we took initiative and complained with expedia instead. We weren't satisfied with the solution they gave us.
