The only two things good about this property were the fact that the room was clean (the first night I was there) and that it was 200 feet from the beach. Other than that, hotel staff was not helpful when I said the phone was broken. There is no fridge or coffee pot in the room, power went out twice and water went out once. The room was fairly large with a balcony and that was nice and it's located right in the main tourist area. But they give you a bracelet to ID guests who have breakfast included or not. The bracelet to me is a risk factor since you have to leave it on during your stay and strangers will know where you are staying based on the bracelet you have to have on. I'd definitely recommend changing that. Bathroom wasn't cleaned after my first night staying. Room wasn't swept. Bed was made but not much else was done.

This was the perfect place for my family to stay on our trip to see the eclipse. The hotel is great for families with younger children. They loved swimming at the pool every day, and the shallow pool was perfect for my youngest. The breakfast offered was delicious, and the workers made sure to accommodate my wife's allergies to pinto beans. The bed was the only bad thing about the place, it was very hard. But the location is great, just a short walk to the beach, and lots of great dining options. We had a wonderful stay.

Room was really dirty, sheets dirty with food and blood stains on it, mold stains. Not good at all. I did not dare to eat the breakfast... I have stayed in many hotels, some 2 stars but that was the worst. We only tolerated it because we were there for the eclipse, but do not recommend

We have some issues like; we found a pair of sandals under our bed when we arrived. One of the beds was broken (thanks God we only needed one).
It was before 10 am (when check out is 11 am) and the cleanning lady was already trying to enter the room without knocking the door first, good luck we had the lock on.
Besides that; the location is great, price is competitive, pool is clean and warm, the room and bathroom looked clean.
If you’re in a budget but want to stay near the beach it’s an option to consider.

Second time stay. Great location and I had a great bargain the second time. It has a big parking lot. Having a car or some type of transportation makes this place being 10 minutes away from anywhere.

Deceiving - Be Careful!

The pictures on the website are very deceiving, the hotel is NOT on the beach and the rooms along with the furniture are very old and filthy. When we entered the room it smelled like nothing but Clorox! not mention that they left us a used bar of soap with human hair in the sink and a half used bottle of hand lotion. The only "OK" part about it was the location, lots of stores and businesses around it and that the pool was small but clean. However, would not recommend this place for a family stay.

At least the parking lot wasn't an abomination!!

I would never have believed the truth if someone had told me about this place - most glaring thing I can think of - NO MATTRESSES ON THE BEDS!! That's right - you sleep on the Box Springs - hard as a rock and just as comfortable. Air Conditioning that is wholly ineffective but noisy all night long - and speaking of "all night long' that describes the the children's cacophony emanating from the swimming pool seemingly 24 hours a day. Well, except for a short time slot. The silence caused my wife to look from the balcony into the pool and while, for the first time, while there were no screaming kids, there was a couple HAVING SEX IN THE OPEN IN THE POOL - even though it was 4:00 AM there's no excuse for that behavior and she wouldn't even consider going into the water after that. And speaking of water, not once but twice while she was taking a shower, it stopped. Full head of hair full of shampoo and no water! The wifi was terrible. The room wasn't cleaned after the first night (we left after the second). Maybe 50 years ago this was something nice, but fifty years is half a century and that's a long time to neglect the hotel grounds and service!

Not bad hotel per se, but don't expect much. This is a room with a bathroom, the AC works sporadically, the pool is "alright", internet is 25 pesos per day and spotty. If you need a spot to sleep, it's fine, but don't expect anything more. Staff is friendly.

Nice hotel at the edge of the Golden Zone

This is not a resort hotel where you walk right outside to the beach but it's right next to the main street of the Golden Zone. It's walking distance to everything. The staff was very friendly. I asked the maid lady if they have a refrigerator for rent and they said no but she went out of her way to give me a styrofoam ice chest. The people that stayed there were all Mexican citizens and they were very family oriented and friendly and enjoyed their stay. The facility is good for the price paid. Overall, everything met our needs for the budget we had in our stay.

Had a hard time getting fresh clean towels. Was questioned how many people were staying with me several times. Who cares it no one es business if i have a companion come visit me. No face or hand towels available even though i asked several time them i just gave up. I had to clean and wash my water glasses in the room. No ice anywhere. Staff In reception was not friendly at all . I would not stay here or recommend anyone to stay here at this hotel

Lifeguard spent most of his time taking to a maid that would sweep the same spot continuously. Made no comment to locals who smoked in the pool, ate in the pool, came from the beach and went straight into the pool. He also ignored babies entering the pool with diapers. Locals often wore tee shirt and shorts into the pool.
However, on three straight days he would hassle me on some issue and finally called security when He was challenged for singling me out. When security backed him I asked to speak to a manager. The next person came and it was another security person. They said the rules for the pool were on a piece of paper in the office. The office said there were no rules on paper only the sign rules. I pointed out the rules on the sign were being broken by other pool users but I had not violated any of them. My conclusion was that I was guilty of being American.

Overall service was not good, it appears workers are not very happy working at Hotel from displeasure voiced amongst themselves, and lack of service they provide...All rustic furniture out dated with mites. The door locks not very secure.

We come here often when we shop in Mazatlan, can't beat it for a budget hotel. Lacks decor, but we just need a clean place to sleep. Our bed was comfortable but some rooms have pretty hard beds and pillows. Good parking lot with 24 hour attendant. Sister hotel to Del Ora across the street so has another huge pool, beach front restaurants and beach access

Our reservation was at the hotel Margarita but for some reason we were sent to the Costa del Oro their sister hotel across the street. Nice up grade for us and we really enjoyed the big ocean front pool. This is the second time we have been up graded to the del Oro, and each time the front desk acts like we are from Mars, no smiles, kind od like they dont want to be bothered. . But after you get checked in the entire staff is great, Everyone with a smile on their face and very helpful. We like having breakfast here as it is quick, tasty and reasonable with a beautiful ocean view. Lunch and dinner is typical budget hotel fare. Beds and pillows are hard.

I did not like my stay at this hotel. It has an awful management. It is not family friendly especially for children. An example would be when the kids were at the pool, there were couples doing inappropriate things. There was a lot of loud music, you couldn't get a good night sleep.

Deposit for TV remotes,no towels in bathroom, swimming pool towels are issued out per guest and must be returned to front desk. beds are rock hard. My wife and I tossed and turned all night.
The hotel is old and run down. The front desk clerk was rude and ignored us on arrival.

We have stayed at this hotel several times. They have several upgraded rooms that are nice;the old ones need some remodeling and more comfortable beds.
The pool is small, but nice. It attracts a lot of younger families and sometimes is quite noisy.
Al l in all it is clean and a good value for those pinching pennies.

Great hotel great staff except for the bellmen. I sent a small cooler for ice and they never came back. I had to go find my cooler myself. The travel agent, Pancho is very helpful and acts as the conceirge for the hotel. Hotel is a little older, not the fanciest but has a nice beach and pool area.

My worst internet purchase, ever. Bed was a rock (and I like firm beds), but worst of all, like other reviewers have said, rooms were right next to extremely loud AC units for the whole complex. Even with the windows shut the walls vibrated and there was a dull roar in the background. The hotel was pretty empty but they refused to move me. I ate the cost and stayed further south in Old Mazatlan on Olas Altas...much better choice!

Hotel needs to be remodeled.The room interiors look very 70's or 80'ish.Small pool.But it is close to the beach,stores and restaurants.I would recommend this hotel for groups of friends or single people. The room price was VERY cheap so dont expect too much.

right beside Gus Gus is a must must

live music every night at Gus Gus literally 100 steps away. The Hotel is very unasuming and you might not think there was a hotel back there. I think thats what made it nice. There was a little pool that got great early arternoon sunshine so it was nice to grab a six pack from right outside and relax for a while. Hard bed but I don't mind a bit.

Margaritas Hotel - Nice Folks Rob P. from Centennial,CO

I spent last week at Margaritas-it's nothing fancy, but it was well run by some really nice people who tried (and succeeded) in making my stay comfortable and enjoyable. It's across the street from the beach, so you have to put in a little effort (walk a block), but for the price, I thought it was just fine- pool was clean but small, but I was about the only person there (off season) so it really didn't matter. If you want to save some bucks, this place will do nicely. One important note-Travel website states all rooms have kitchenettes and fridges-NO rooms have either-you'll need to buy a cooler at the grocery store next door and spend a buck for ice everyday.

"cheap, good location, QUIET"

We found the Margaritas hotel on Expedia and chose it mainly for price. However, when we got there, we realized it had a lot more to offer. It is just across the street from the beach and from the Costa D'Oro Hotel (which actually owns the Margaritas, so you can go over and use the beautiful heated pool over there!) Because it is tucked behind the main tourist drag in Zona Dorada, Margaritas is extremely quiet and actually quite private, with its own little courtyard complete with tables and shelters so you can eat your own food/have your own drinks out there. The QUIET aspect of this was great as we were there during Carnaval and were travelling with a 3 year old. The Margaritas is a decent walk from the Mega food market and close to lots of good both fancy restaurants and taco stands frequented by locals. If you love walking, it is not too bad of a walk to the main Mazatlan beachfront promenade and the best beaches in Mazatlan!

Costa de Oro pool had about 100 lounge chairs and only about 10 people actually present, yet all chairs were "reserved". Staff did nothing to rectify this, so it was impossible to really use the pool. Margaritas was very noisy -- sound of utility/air conditioning units kept us awake in one room, after we moved the sound and smell from "Gus Gus" bar kept us up most of the night. I would stay farther north down the beach -- try Pueblo Bonito, which is worth paying a little bit more for.

The location is good - right on one of the main streets. It was fine for us - just one night in between traveling. We did not use the pool, the room was clean and good size, the bathroom was good as well. Would recommend for a night, but wouldnt be our pick for a full vacation, as it is a little small...and I am not sure about beach access.

Good location not the best Hotel

Our first 2 days in the hotel were bad due to bad water conditions. The 1st day we had very small amount of hot water the 2nd day we had muddy water coming out. The other room I reserved had no hot water the 1st day and muddy water the 2nd day. The hotel gives you only 1 key, has no gym, if you call for something you have to go get it yourself from reception. Things got better after the 3rd day, but you really need to reserve this hotel with the idea of a cheap hotel. The location is great I do agree with that.
