There was a group of 8 people that stayed at this hotel. 3 of our group got really sick with food poisoning. We really didnt eat out of the hotel so we got sick from the food they served. My spouse ended in the hospital due to the food poisoning. Do not recommend.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. There is only 1 restaurant on the property and you need reservations for dinner and if you dont call early in the morning you are not going to get them. It is not open every night either. If you want coffee before 7am you have to use the coffee pot in your room which thwy charge you for. If tou want to utilize the all inclusive buggets tou have to go to the hotel across the street. They do not provide pop or water in your room like other hotels we have stayed at. So again after 5 pm you have to walk across the street to the other hotel. If you drink alcohol the pool has limited service from 10am to 5pm. Now the staff was extremely friendly and professional. Room was clean, pool is heated and its a very quiet resort.

I would like to take the time to say thank you to all the staff from the hotel. Berenice, Rodolfo, Nelson, nacho, Daniel, Gerardo, Fidel, Sergio, room keeping and a few more staff that I can’t remember their names at the moment but everyone went out of their way to make sure we were taken care off like if we were their family. El Cid Granada was very relaxing - not crowded or loud, perfect after a long day of being out and about. Staff at the front desk was always helpful and courteous. The pool area was also pretty chill. Marvelous and beautiful heated pool, and plenty of room to relax whether in the water or on the pool deck. Plus the ability to use all the El Cid resort amenities - the pools at the Playa hotel, and the private beach just north of their marina property (a quick free shuttle & water taxi ride). The Granada is also really close to quite a few food options, as well as an OXXO and drugstores for all your needs. Definitely would stay here again with my family

It's in a good location. The on-site Italian restaurant is very good. The hotel is dated, and the room we ended up in felt like they'd saved it for Expedia customers, and not in a good way. It was ground level, faced the road, and the HVAC equipment outside sounded like a jet engine taking off at regular intervals. The breakfast buffet staff is friendly, but it's very overpriced for what it is. This has the potential to be a great property again, but it's going to take serious effort.

The staff is very friendly and fast to help with anything you need. The rooms are clean.the location is good for walking around to stores and restaurants. There’s a grocery store close by. I recommend getting the all inclusive if you want yo eat there and see the shows an the el cid Castillo beach side otherwise eating gets expensive.

We had a room by the entrance for the staff to bring supply's in. It was noisy with trolleys early in the am. We were locked out of our room 3 times due to problems with door mechanism. Otherwise everything else was ok with some very helpful and friendly staff.

Typical El Cid property, the people make all the difference. Water, coffee, internet in the room are all extra charges, figuring out dining and drink options takes a couple of days. But the staffs attitudes help get over it. The Granada is a nice option for a quieter stay. Thanks el patio staff and the Castillo bar servers.

I do love El Cid, I have been here more then once. Both other two times, we stayed at the Marina.
The difference was noticed from service with Granada vs Marina. We got the all inclusive package, but it ended up not being fully inclusive there were things that we still needed to pay for that were not included like we had anticipated, so that was a bit frustrating and at the front desk at check in they also did not mention this to us, or try to get us a better wristband.
Overall, the staff are amazing, very friendly and courteous. Always welcoming. It is nice to have access to more then one resort stuff and the selection of restaurants is great from japanese, thai, mexican, italian, steakhouse, and more. So the variety is great there. Everything is clean, Granada is the older of the El Cid resorts. But we had an amazing time and it was good. Didn't like that people went to the beach early in the morning and reserved chairs with towels and left for hours, there should be rules when it comes to reserving chairs so that there are enough for everyone to enjoy shade as well during the day. Sharing is caring!

The El CID Granada is conveniently located to many attractions and great restaurants. The beach is a short walk away. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The on-site spa offers many services, we had excellent massages! The hotel is showing some west and tear and is being spruced up. The pool area is lovely with lots of shade, or sun - your preference.
Hotels.com indicates there is an airport shuttle which is incorrect.

We purchased the all-inclusive package. Some of the only dining options were in another hotel, so it was pretty far to walk for older members of the party. The pools were great, but the rooms were just okay. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were so lumpy they could have been from the Victorian era. Not much sleep. The breakfasts and sit down dinners were pretty good, but the buffets and lunches were pretty mediocre. The thermostat in the room didn't work, so the air was either on or off, with three fan settings. They also expect you make reservations for dinner a day in advance, but don't tell you that, so the first night don't expect much. Other days, you need to get up early to reserve dinner for the next day. If you don't want to reserve, a buffet is available but the quality is inconsistent, at best. There are swim up bars, but they were never opened while we were there. overall, a nice place with a few quirks and we enjoyed our stay.

We have more than 40 years having vacation at el cid, it´s a wonderful family place. This time we have a bad experience, we tryed to make a restaurant reservation 24 hours before arrive, the hotel contact us with club elite concierte, was very bad service, we didn´t want to help us, fortunately the hotel manager help us when we arrived and make us our restaurante reservation.

El Cid has four different properties in Mazatlan. Two are across the beach and have direct beach access. One is about 10 minutes away and has a different beach access. And then there is the Granada, which is what we lovingly called \"the cheap seats\". The nice thing is that whichever property you are at, you have access to all the others. And there is shuttle service between properties as well.

After having experienced the other places, despite everyone else's pools being better and their having direct beach access, we decided we were in the best place for us. Granada was quieter than the other three, a more relaxed ambience. They seem to house visitors that are there for the season, mostly older folk like us. The pool area was pleasant and there are three restaurants immediately available within Granada's grounds. There are several others on the other properties also available to us.

Downside was that virtually everything else was an added cost. Wifi, bottles of water left in the room daily, coffee left in the room daily. The water and coffee had signs that the purchases of those was for their charitable foundation, but nonetheless.

Water pressure was GREAT. In fact, TOO great. Go easy on the faucets until you figure out how to control it. Toilet flush was also astronomically efficient and LOUD. Pool hours are limited, so night swims are not an option. There are tennis/pickleball courts and an exercise room, which my husband was told was an extra charge.

The plastic on the mattress was very uncomfortable and hot. At times there would be a sewer smell com from the shower.
Honestly didn’t spend much time in the room other than to sleep and shower as we golfed and tours the area.

Great family vacation!!

My stay at El Cid Granada was perfect. The check in was great. I was even able to get checked in early!!. That was a plus for the whole family since we were traveling with kids. The rooms were big and spacious, very comfortable beds. The difference I noticed in this stay.... I now had to pay for parking. Not all restaurants were included in the all inclusive packages. A few years back they were. This is my fourth time I stay here. I love it so much, I keep coming back.
Thank you everyone at El Cid for making my family enjoy are vacation to the best!! You were all great!!

We did not understand that the all-inclusive part of our booking was only buffets, and that we could not get room service, or make reservations in any of the hotel restaurants.
If it was the case, everything would have been awesome on this very slow week. Most of the hotel portions were closed, and most closed off to us for dining. I gave it 4 out of 5 while reviewing, but in reality that part was a 2 at best. We just didn't realize we would be put in the cafeteria with a bunch of kids.
And the hotel really needs an adults only section.

The hotel was very clean and it had amazing views from our room. Location was great, near restaurants, shopping and such. There were two downsides to our stay, first off we wanted/needed a queen/King size bed and was given full and at check in some of the staff tried to get us to come to a time share meeting, thankfully we know the drill so we didn't attend. It did bother me they use your check in time to give you this kind of information knowing you won't refuse. On the other hand, the housekeepers, bartenders and pretty much the rest of the staff were amazing and made us feel very welcome.

Great location only a catwalk away

El Cid granada is only a catwalk (open skyway) from sister hotels El Cid Castilla and El Cid Elmoro Tower, which are on the beach. It is by the tennis courts and golf course and country club. We choose to stay there with our Wyndham Timeshare points because it allows us to stay two weeks at Granada where our points are only good for one week on the beach at El Moro Towers. Well worth it and Granada has the \"Mexico\" charm and not the glitz the \"on the beach\" hotels have.

I did love the setup of the room for a family of 6 lots of space! I did not however like how incredibly loud it was. I did talk to customer service and they then moved us which was very nice BUT this room was probably even louder. The first room had a jackhammer outside because of construction but the second room was on a very busy corner and right outside the tennis courts which seemed to have midnight matches every night. I did like being able to use the pool facilities at the partnering hotel and they have made that convenient. I did not like or understand the very strict wristband rules when we didn't buy all inclusive. I like to tour Mazatlan and nothing says tourist quicker then a bright yellow wristband and if you aren't wearing it they want to charge you for it. Overall not decided if I liked it or not. Lots of pros and con.

I've stayed at most of El Cids properties but since I'm always there for business I like the Granada. Its easy to access the secure parking without always waiting for valet. Mazatlan averages 70% humidity year round so all of the rooms that I've stayed at have that summer damp feeling (just like humid spots in the US). The cat walk connects you to the Castilla & El Morro hotels as well. The nicest property by far for vacationers is the El Cid Marina. It is about a mile up the ocean but offers shuttles every 15 minutes. Condo-like rooms overlooking the bay and marina.

The staff at the hotel were very nice, friendly, and welcoming. The Granada had a cozy feel to it compared to the rest of the El Cid hotel. Access to the beach was easy and it had its own pool to use if you preferred a quiet place to read a book and lay in the sun. The walks into the town were interesting and the people of Mazatlan were very friendly, I never felt unsafe walking even down into the historical area of the city.

The rooms & pools are excellent for a family. The kitchenette helped to have small meals or snacks when we were too tired. However, there was a misunderstanding with payment. I paid for a fee for an extra person that didn't go. Expedia said to talk to hotel & hotel said to talk to expedia. I'm still confused as to who should fix this? I really recommend you pay in advanced. The hotel charged 16 pesos to the dollar, you end up paying a little more plus conversion etc.

from the minute we arrived we were treated with the most pleasant attitude and the best service we had while in Mexico. Everyone at the El Cid was extremely accommodating especially Alejandro at the desk. the maids were very sweet and if we were in the room when they did turn down service they would come in and personally give us chocolate each night. Every time we asked questions they were extremely acommodating and ensured our stay was very pleasant. the rooms are a little tired but we switched to a kitchenette room which I had reserved originally but because you cannot get a kitchenette with the king we were switched to two twins that's something that probably should be advertised on hotels.com other than that our trip was extremely fun and would stay at El Cid granada again especially to get away from the maddening crowds on the beach the El Cid granada pool was very secluded and many times you could be there by yourself.

The room was damp and the maid service was late in the day. The charge extra for the water and coffee in the room , never seen this before. They charged me 135 pesos for 2 pop type lemonade at the pool, what a rip off then the waiter shorted me 100 pesos on my change , thank god I notices and he gave it back. At checkout they sent me to 3 counters, I finally left saying I have to go. Very poor service . I would never stay there again at ant price.

Love the location, charm and private pool

If you're looking for a place to have some peace and quiet, this is it. It is a well kept secret in Mazatlan...love the charm and the personal were courteous and helpful. The room was always clean and they have the best flushing toilets in the whole country

El Cid Granada exceeded our expectations!

We stayed in El Cid Moro Beach in November so we knew where El Cid Granada was and we wanted that same area again. El Cid Granada was much cleaner than the Moro Beach Club, but had a few cockroach problems in the main walk ways. We told the staff and the next thing we knew they were spraying for them. We did not have any in our room. The room was totally clean and the staff were wonderful. Will we stay there again - yes we will. There is a Italian restaurant on site that makes the most wonderful pizzas we have every eaten and that was the second reason we wanted to be in this area again. Prize was comparable to other hotels in the area. If you are travelling through Mazatlan try to hit this hotel on a Wednesday night as they have a terrific life mexican evening for a very reasonable cost. You will enjoy many areas of Mexico at this celebration which includes your supper and beverages.

Not bad but not great.

The Granada is an older hotel and its age is showing in some areas. Some of the rooms had been upgraded but not ours. The cleaning staff worked hard but some stains and wear and tear were impossible to remove. I like a room with two beds but the double beds in our room seemed shorter than normal.

The buffet restaurant, La Pergola was dissapointing. I have visited over a dozen other all inclusive resorts in Mexico and I do not consider myself a picky eater but there is room for improvement here. Some El Cid resorts require you to sign the check for every drink or meal but that was not required at La Pergola. The food was much better at the El Patio and the La Cascada a la carte restaurants.

The pool at the Granada was very nice. The water was almost as warm as bath water and the setting in a private courtyard was very inviting. The Granada is priced much lower than other resorts in the area so I would recommend it to someone on a limited budget.

Carnaval in Mazatlan

I've stayed at this hotel before, and prefer the quieter atmosphere to that of the other El Cid hotels across the street on the beach, though it's an easy walk over the sky bridge to the noisier, more public hotels. The pool area here is lovely! This one is on the golf course and the beach vendors don't come here. Bus or taxi service is readily available whenever it's needed, and the lobby opens into a very nice Italian restaurant. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Great for the Price (watch out for timeshare)

This place was exactly what it should be. Was pretty inexpensive. The rooms were fine. Pretty clean for mexico and had air. We went with the cheap one which didn't have an ocean view. The hotel was fairly noisy in general.

The one thing to definitely watch out for is the Timeshare push. They want you to go to a breakfast. At the airport we went to the el cid table to get a map and the lady was really nice. All the sudden we were in a hard sales pitch for the timeshare breakfast and we were stuck there for 20 minutes. We said NO many times but did not want to be rude. Then we got another timeshare breakfast sales pitch at the hotel from another lady. Ugh. The hotel manager, Daniel, was very nice and very helpful. There were a lot of pay extras in the room. Water, coffee were extra each day.

The hotel is in the Golden Zone (very, very touristy). If you go on the beach, expect to be asked by to buy something from a vender every 2 minutes.

It was nice because you can go to any el cid hotel and use the facilities and swim in the pool. They do have beautiful pools. Food there was pricey for mexico but worth the ocean view.

We did scuba diving (it was okay. saw lots of fish, starfish, urchins)visibility 12 feet. divemaster was good buy handled a lot of animals while underwater (not cool). the boat ride there was nice and the water was about 75 (I had a 3-4 wetsuit and it was perfect). We did ziplining. THat was great. We bodysurfed at witches beach. That was the BEST. Great Restaurant!!! Great waves.

We went into town once and it was fine. The best part was walking along the beach. there's a nice walkway at Olos Altos (sp?) with lot so sculptures.

If we go again we may stay farther north near playa de bruja. We really liked it up there.

Very Nice Hotel Complex.

I always do a little research before I book and looked at a lot of places in Mazatlan, because we had never been to that side of Mexico before. Im not real picky about rooms because after all I'm going for the BEACH right!! Any way when we checked in we were \"upgraded\" from the Granada which is not on the beach(which I DID know and was OK) to the Castilla across the street and on the beach. I was really glad we did. Come to find out the only bar open after 5 (when the pool bars close) was in the Castilla lobby!!! I was surprised that in a complex of 3 hotels that the one bar was not packed. Maybe the \"Party Hearty\" crowd went to Senor Frogs!! Which is attached to the hotel. The room was nice and clean, A/C worked well, however it was right by the lobby, good access to bar but the band was pretty loud!!! Beds are the typical HARD Mexican beds! Food in the Buffett and the two restaurants we tried was excellent! We did the sushi and the Argentine style. Mazatlan did not seem to be the \"Party Town\" that Cancun is. But in all honesty we don't stay out like we used to!!

Granada good - less impressed with the towers

The Granada is good old place, renovated and kept up - nice jr suites with kitchenette, nice pool area. Staff very nice and helpful - we speak Spanish, but we observed staff being very helpful to guests who did not speak spanish and/or were unfamiliar with Mexico or Mazatlan. I rate the staff highly. The rooms are older - well renovated, but not soundproof - one can easily hear your neighbor and whatever they are up to - but the clientele seems to be mostly older Canadian travelers and so there is a good measure of decorum and manners displayed by guests toward one another - so no real problem. The younger folks there also comported themselves very well. The towers, on the other hand draw a big national crowd - and the operative word is \"crowd\". Crowded pools and crowded beach-front. As regular visitors to Mazatlan (we live in Queretaro) that is not particularly inviting to us. Our advice - feel comforatble booking the Granada, enjoy their pool - and when you want to go to the beach, go south to Cerritos/Gaviota area (walk 30 minutes\ - or take a Pulmonia) and enjoy a better beach down in front of the Raddison in that area. Mazatlan is great andf El Cid Granada is a winner.
