This review is biased, as it's written by someone who desperately needed sleep when they arrived. I do realize a hotel on the Gold coast in Mazatlan is not the best place for that.

The staff was excellent and super helpful, especially the cleaning staff. We loved our cleaner, she was so sweet and nice.

The suite was very nice but missing many things that would have made it better. For the price I expected things like:
-better cereal bowls and larger coffee mugs would have been nice.
-chairs and table on both balconies, so you don’t have to move them between the two.
-coffee filters.
-a toaster.

Other issues:
The green blinking light from the modem right above the Murphy bed was a real drag. I had to cover it with a shirt.
Smoke detector started chirping the first night.

The hotel is super loud. The next door lot features a music venue music playing at very high volumes most of the day and into the night. THUMP THUMP THUMP

Our first night was not great. A Saturday night, with Electronic music on one side and a Mariachi band on the other, playing late into the night. Then workers started working on tile, breaking it up and smashing it, all though the night.

That said, the rooms were super clean and the staff great. It's an old style hotel and a really nice atmosphere, and of course the view was amazing. There's a great grocery store just down the road a bit, called Fresh Market. You can get 5 litre water jugs and anything else you like.

We had a great time in El Quijote Inn, i liked the stuff people, them where very kind,;i did not liked the restaurants kitchen, them are extremely slow, toke more than 1 hour to serve. I liked it is in the Zona Dorada with a lot of stores close to the hotel. In general all the family enjoyed out stady there. I am sure we will back.

The door keys didn’t work until the third try to get in. The beds were very uncomfortable. Super hard and didn’t have black out curtains. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. I ate the buffet one morning and it was ok. It did the job for about $11 dollars. I did a few days before checking into my main hotel. Don’t plan to return in the future.

The hotel was nice, clean, great location. The friendliest workers were the security guards, & the lifeguard. In 9 days Nobody ever came to get our order poolside. We had to go to them, which is really odd. Have always had amazing service in Mazatlan. Just not sure if I'd go back again.

When I was looking at the Expedia information about the room it said \"no internet\", but further down the page there was a checkbox beside \"Internet $14\", so I checked that box and continued to book the room. When I got the confirmation is said the internet was free!
When we get to the hotel we found out there was in fact no internet in ANY of the rooms (according to the front desk). As for the room itself, it was stark and basic to the extreme - no table, not even one chair, no end table by the bed, no drinking glass (or even plastic cup).
Finally, although it advertised a restaurant in the Expedia webpage, the restaurant closed at 6PM, and there was only one other restaurant nearby. There were no other amenities within about 1/2 km.
The front desk was officious at best; when we checked out the morning after only 1 night of our 'stay', it took them over 1/2 hour to go and check that we hadn't stolen all the towels, etc.
What was good about it? Very clean, the bellhop service for our baggage was good, the grounds were well-kept, the pool looked clean and adequate. And while there are no amenities in the immediate neighbour hood, there are lots of restaurants available within 1 km of the hotel. And the beach is good.

Good for partying, not for family

The beach front is really nice and the employees very friendly and helpful. But...
There is no internet access in the rooms, supposedly, there was connectivity at the pool and the lobby but never worked well for me and my family, cell phone network coverage is also not good at the beach.
The place is extremely noisy, difficult to catch some sleep at night, outside noise from cars, loud music, etc feels like it is right at your window.
There was no one available from the hotel personnel to place furniture on the beach, guests needed to move chairs and beach beds from the pool section to the beach every morning.
The stove in the junior suite was not working.
The show also required maintenance, water flow was not comfortable.
Pillows are small but not bad.
If you get a beach front room, sunsets are just wonderful!

To whom it may concern, a 3 year old child died this past Sunday from drowning at the Quijote Inn pool from negligence on behalf of management. There was no Lifeguard on sight, low light conditions in and around the pool where the girl died. Absolutely no cameras anywhere. This happened from 6 to 630 pm. I am devestated emotionally me and my girlfriend are devestated. This should have never have had to happened on a 5 star Hotel in 2021. I am going to enclose a local news article about the incident that ocurred during my stay and while I was near the beach access near the pool area.
Around 6:15 we noticed the girl's mother and grandfather screaming for help at the top of their lungs, we got closer to the pool and we saw the little girl Valeria unconsious on the side of the pool, imidiately I told my girlfriend to call 911 while I along with other guests started performing CPR. No one from the hotel staff helped us, no one wanted to get envolved since she was not a guest at the hotel. She was the grand daughter of the local seafood merchant directly outside of the hotel beach front entrance. Meaning the child made it from the beach to the pool without being stopped by security or by a lifeguard. No one noticed her untill it was too late. By the time they brought her outside the pool she had been uncounscious underwater for several mintues 10 minutes at least. Several pints of liquid including water vommit and mucus spilled out her while we performed Cpr but it wasnt enough.

Hotel was in good condition. Friendly staff. I would give 5 stars to the Hotel. The on-site restaurant was a spoiler. Limited menu selection and even then they didn’t have many of the items on the menu available.
Slow service. Mixed drinks with almost no liquor. I highly recommend the hotel but luckily there are a wide variety of offsite restaurants.

The good; maids, bellboys and maintenance quick to respond and pleasant. Nice size rooms, full size refrigerator and king size bed. Shower water was always warm enough, though told heated by solar, but only 4 to 10 rooms rented during our 3 week stay, out of 101.
The bad; all tv channels in Spanish. The WiFi, constantly disconnected. Front desk, though always Courteous, EVERY time I told them that it was out again, would tell me you can't get WiFi in the room, which wasn't true. They never had an answer when I asked them how do they think I know when it's out if I don't get it. Last hour I was there, I convinced 2 men to check the connection on the Resturant roof at the extender location. Connection literally fell apart in his hand. I had to leave before seeing it repaired.
Pool was not heated and colder than ocean in January. This is a Mexican hotel that caters to nationals, especially on weekends with lots of children. If you like very loud tuba and drums on a daily basis, this is your place. When the restaurant next door starts playing live music, the Quijote employees always turn on their music at the restaurant so it is just a loud blur of noise even with all doors shut. As with many Mexican resorts, the furniture is uncomfortable and the water is not drinkable. Large water jugs can be purchased at the front desk for 50 pesos (about $5.50 US)

I had to stay an extra day and since is a busy season I thought I was not going to be able to stay the extra day,. But the front desk staff manage to leave me at the same room and get me the extra day.

We'll be back.

We enjoyed a suite with a fabulous 180 degree ocean view. We had a private balcony and access, just out our door, to a huge balcony overlooking the beach.
All staff, right from the front desk, the bell boys, the cleaning, the restaurant, and even the lifeguard were fabulous, happy and very helpful.
The pool was terrific and the area was rather quiet.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Quijote Inn.
We are a 'in our 60's' couple and were surrounded by families, snowbirds, Mexican, Canadian, and American vacationers. It was a great, relaxing time

Great for a cheap price. But no 5 star resort.

If you want to get hotel with beach access, large pool, and great view. This place is great if you get a good price as compared to other beach access hotels. However, no extra beds or cribs as Expedia claims. We got a junior suite for a steal so I can't complain too much. Restaurants were quite a walk away, maybe 25 minutes. Unfortunately the beach was too dangerous to get in. Even experienced swimmers had to be saved after they were warned not to go in. According to a worker there it's always like that. Not sure if any hotel around had a calm beach (didn't look like it). Rooms and hotel seem aged but relatively maintained. You will be charged 50 pesos if you have a kitchenette but don't wash your dishes (no one mentioned this anywhere). Other than that staff was pleasant. No extra room keys either even though we had the max guests allowed (6 adults and 2 infants) in the 1 bedroom junior suite. Again not a big deal since anywhere else I'd have needed at least two rooms/suites.

Bad service and lack of organization

The rooms they assigned us three hours later of the check inn time, were not ready to be used, then they changed for another room, we moved with all our staff and were not ready again. Even when they assigned us higher level room, they showed a pretty bad organization.

After a walk at the beach we stayed at the restaurant for 30 minutes an no body were there for service.

The hotel is right for a family stay, well located and nice beach, the issues they have is service related and lack of organization

We decided on this hotel because it was budget friendly and a family member had said good things when they stayed. We were a party of eight so we booked 3 standard rooms for 2 nights. Check in was smooth, but the issues started when we each arrived to our rooms...... all of the rooms has huge puddles and in one room there was a constant leak down the wall, two of the rooms' bed had dirty yellow spotted sheets, and the TV's were staticky. When these issues were brought up to the receptionist she only switched one room for us but said we would either have to move two other rooms to another floor or just have housekeeping change the sheets and mop up the puddles... so we sucked it up and stayed all on the same floor since the whole point was to stay together. When housekeeping arrived to my room, she handed us a mop and said we could keep it there in case the water came back (didn't clean it up by the way)????
the room was simple (literally) there were no drawers, hair dryer, safe, or iron/board. Another hazard was the shingles flying off the roof onto the balcony where our room was. But other than these issues, our time in Mazatlan was amazing!!! the ocean view from our balcony was phenomenal!!! both the pool and beach were amazing, especially since we had the whole hotel to ourselves : ) and the location was perfect. I will definitely be visiting again but probably not staying here though.....

Troubling issues, the beach has washed away so the last step down to the sandy beach was about three feet. Also, the weekends Mexican travelers took over the pool over and weren't very considerate of others using the facility. Our very last day of the trip we had no water in our hotel room.

The staff are outstanding and very gratious, the location is perfect, but the hotel is starting to get run-down. The biggest issue is lack of staff, they are running with a skeleton crew and they are stretched to the limit. I have stayed there five years in a row but next year may have to relocate.

Esta bien aunque considero que le hace falta mucho mantenimiento ya que son instalaciones algo viejas, la habitación muy bien pero la vdd estaba como mal vista incluso por los del hotel, incluso se le salió decir a un trabajador que en la habitación espantaban que por eso nadie quería subir, solo batallabanos mucho par abrir la puerta, de ahí en fuera creo que todo dentro de lo normal nada excepcional

La estadía fue genial, con un trato excelente de parte de todo el personal del hotel. Es evidente que tienen altas políticas de satisfacción al cliente sin distinción de nacionalidad. Esto se observó desde la recepción hasta el salvavidas. Alberca relativamente pequeña, y los lugares se \"apartan\" desde muy temprano por inquilinos que en muchas ocasiones no se paran en la alberca sino hasta ya la tarde; tal vez sería buena idea revisar alguna política de uso justo en ese sentido.

No es cosa del hotel, pero es bueno saber que, al menos en la época en que estuvimos (finales de Julio), el mar se encontraba en constante oleaje, lo cual hacía complicado contemplar el adentrarse al agua.

Se agradece que no hubo mayores problemas por ruido en el hotel. Básicamente, a partir de las 9PM ya solo se escucha el mar.

El hotel está bonito y cómodo.. solo que en esta ocasión al llegar se suponía estaba recervada para llegar a las 4 y la habitación nos la dieron pasado de las 5:30pm tmb nos dieron la tarjeta equivocada no abrió el cuarto y cuando entramos nos topamos con que de la habitación, el baño no estaba limpio… nos regalaron un desayuno por el inconveniente del baño, lo que se agradece mucho, anteriormente ya aviamos estado hospedados en ese hotel y estuvo todo perfecto, SI LO RECOMIENDO… pero igual no paso por alto lo que en esta ocasión sucedió… error que a todos nos puede pasar, pero pues así como checan la habitación cuando sales para que no te lleves nada, así que la chequen bien cuando llegas que todo esté en orden.. mi punto de vista.. 😬

La verdad es que es un hotel bastante tranquilo, muy seguro y bastante tranquilo. El acceso a la playa está perfecto por las palapas que tiene y el personal es bastante amable y accesible.

Las instalaciones de áreas comunes como la alberca y playa están muy bien, El servicio en general parece otorgado por principiantes, me recordó a los hoteles en los años 80 que no había apertura ni competencia y que las cosas como ellos dicen si te parece. Si recuerdan al “No Hay” pareciera que ahí se entrenó: El restaurante esta bonito y con vista espectacular al mar pero nunca tiene nada de lo que hay en el menú (ejemplo Waffles con Moras vienen sin moras porque no tienen, no hay maple para los hot cakes, el Restaurant cierra a las 9:00 pm pero a las 8:26 ya cerró la cocina e igual para el room service, además de que tampoco puedes pedir vino ya que es el único restaurante de los hoteles de la zona que no ofrece vino, al bar de playa le falta personal y tienes que estar buscándolo para que te atienda, en la habitación las tazas de café de la misma, si las utilizas, las lavas o compras desechables porque no las cambian, al momento del check out te tienes que esperar como 15 minutos para que vayan a checar a la habitación si no te llevaste nada. En resumen, sería muy bueno que el gerente del hotel se hospedara en un hotel en Nuevo Vallarta o en la misma nueva zona hotelera de Mazatlán para que viera la calidad del servicio al cliente.
