!!! BED BUGS !!!

I stayed at Placemakr Central Station in Phoenix and experienced a bed bug issue during the stay. This was not a minor inconvenience; it was serious enough that Placemakr ultimately refunded/comped the stay.

Unfortunately, the resolution was incomplete. As part of the stay, we paid for parking connected to the property through LAZ Parking. Those parking charges were incurred only because we were staying at Placemakr Central Station. After the stay was refunded due to the bed bug issue, I requested that the related parking charges also be refunded. LAZ directed me back to Placemakr, but Placemakr refused to take responsibility for the parking costs, stating that parking is managed by a third-party provider and that the parking had been “utilized.”

That response was disappointing. The parking was only utilized because we were guests at this property, and the entire stay was refunded because of a serious issue at the property. I was not asking for extra compensation; I was asking to be made whole for direct out-of-pocket costs tied to the same failed stay experience.

To Placemakr’s credit, the room/stay itself was refunded. However, their refusal to take accountability for the associated parking charges, and their decision to leave the guest between Placemakr and its parking vendor, made the resolution feel incomplete and frustrating.

The listing said that parking was NOT available at the property . I called to confirm and they told me that it is a private garage that is part of the building and costs $24/night . Luckily I called and asked . I had a rental car and needed parking . If I hadn’t callled , then I would have passed on the property because I needed parking .

I literally reserved the property 30 minutes before I arrived . They send you a link that you have to complete . It’s like a check in type questionnaire . A bit annoying as they don’t seem to accept or honor the pre filled information from Expedia .

I was very happy with the accommodations , friendly staff , price and location (chose location because I wanted to be fairly close to Chase field )

Nice modern hotel apartment. Very comfortable and clean. Nice gym facility with infrared sauna. Pool is located across the street in a separate building which was inconvenient. Make sure to note, parking is not included. There is a paid garage below hotel so plan for an additional per day parking charge that is separate from the hotel. There is a Fry's grocery store approximately 1 mile away, It is walkable, however depending on the time of year, it may be very hot. Pots, pans, a cookie sheet, cooking utensils and plates/cups, however, only 4 place settings were provided in a 2-bedroom unit. The AC works great. It was a quiet building, not a lot of noisy visitors. The W/D and dishwasher in the unit worked well but was loud. Dish soap and laundry detergent were provided, a nice touch. No spices, but there was tiny salt and pepper shaker along with a Keurig like coffee maker. Overall a nice stay that's very convenient to the stadium/arena as well as right on the metro line. Getting into the building from the parking garage below was awkward, you had to get buzzed in each time, but other than that, it was fine. Not too many homeless around, we felt safe in the area, but didn't walk around outside much due to the heat since we had a car.

They need to change their check-in policies to operate like a normal hotel and not have a security check stage that delays you getting to your room. They need to have a standard check in full service lobby that can deal with key issues and do wake up calls like a normal hotel.

There are NO BLACKOUT CURTAINS on the floor to ceiling windows, only sheer shades. Major oversight on the hotel’s part. There’s streetlight coming in all night and the room is too bright for sleep at dawn. It’s also tough to find the entrance to the building. Otherwise, it’s super clean, modern and very functional. It’s also right on the light rail line and walking distance to many great restaurants and stylish night spots. Didn’t have time to check out the rooftop pool on this business trip, unfortunately.

I love this building 4th time I've stayed here and will stay again. Love the location and the attached parking garage. The staff for placemaker and the Anova building are great. They have a really cool pool area and a jenga set made out of 2×4's. So creative.

The room was clean, and we loved the apartment style room. The hotel was quiet which was very appreciated. The room came with a Roku tv with several streaming apps available to sign into. We also appreciated the washer and dryer in the room. The only issues we had was the parking garage was somewhat difficult to find because the sign listing Placemakr is only on one side of the sign. The way we turned in, you couldn’t see it until you had passed it. I also wish that parking was included in hotel stay price. While we got the discounted rate for parking, it still was expensive to park for 4 days. There are also a lot of homeless people in the area, and it seemed a little sketchy walking around at night. Overall, the hotel was nice enough and we would stay again if we find ourselves in Phoenix. We were able to walk to many bars, restaurants, and to Chase field for a Diamondbacks game.

This hotel is a great place to stay if you have to stay in central city Phoenix. The rooms are clean functional and quiet. The amenities are wonderful.

Unfortunately ( and this is not a criticism of the hotel) the surrounding neighborhood is not nice. Almost as bad as Manhattan or, god forbid, Seattle

The area is crawling with drug addled homeless people, the presence of which represents of course, a failure on the part of the Phoenix city government

So there are much nicer areas in which to stay

But if you have to stay in Central city Phoenix, I highly recommend this hotel

Very nice modern unit with plenty of space for a multi day stay. Great amenities between the properties, especially the pool and deck area. Nice location allowing walking to both the ballpark area and Roosevelt Row.

The bed was small and the orientation (sideways, against the wall, with no headboard) made it awkward to sleep in. My room was missing its TV remote, but management brought me one. Operation of the door lock when leaving was not explained to me, and I actually ended up leaving my room unknowingly unsecured the first time I left it.

The check in process was very odd. A link was sent prior for pre-registration but it didn’t work. I had to go to the 3rd floor to check in. Once there the person asked if I completed registration and I shared the issue I had with the link and he proceeded to tell me it works so I showed him on my phone. He sent another link and I had to sit there and complete it instead of them checking me in like other hotels (not very welcoming). They never explained how the key fob worked so when I tried to leave my room is when I realized the door didn’t automatically close. I had to call to get instructions on how to work the fob and lock. That could be a safety issue. The room was very clean but a bit odd but it was only for 2 nights. Thankfully I was traveling alone because the bed is not conducive for 2 people. It’s convenient to the monorail and walking distance to the arena, which is where I was going. There’s a full size fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryerin the room. The tv is small and in an odd spot but didn’t work but I was able to cast YouTube from my phone. If you need a place for a night or two not bad but I probably wouldn’t go back. The young lady who was at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful with recommendations for food and how to get around.

Enjoyed our two night stay over the weekend. The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and kindly helped us with all questions we had. We were able to walk to nearby restaurants and used the metro line to get to the FC soccer game (the metro is free with game ticket purchase there and back). I would recommend this hotel and would stay again if I return to Phoenix.

Placemakr Downtown is ideally located -- close to venues (we were here for the NCAA Women's Final 4), excellent restaurants, bars, culture, etc. Having a kitchen, separate bedroom, dining area, and washer/driver was ideal. The staff were courteous and all simply marvelous people! The austere concrete and gray motif was off-putting for me -- a little color, artwork, colorful furnishings, etc. would enliven the place. Please add TVs to the bedroom.

The room was like a studio apartment which was nice. The door locks did not feel secure. And you had to lock them when leaving the room. Check in process was brutality painful and the one guy that worked there had a very cocky attitude. Definitely more bossy than helpful. Parking was available but not explained well. Check out process nkt the best. Cool concept but needs work overall. Good value for the money and location.

This is not a hotel- it’s an apartment building that I assume wasn’t selling so they are pretending to run a hotel out of it. Upon check in they pulled out a binder full of random key fobs and then assigned it to a room, and said the room number to the room full of people. The AC was not on and when I turned it on it did not ever get cooler than 78 degrees in the apartment, even overnight. At 10:30pm someone was able to unlock my room and if I hadn’t put a separate door lock on, would have been able to walk right into my room. It was very scary and I reached out to three different numbers for this location before someone responded to me- the text line and the chat through Expedia did not get a response until the morning, and I had to use a number from my original booking email to get someone on the phone. She was uncaring and just kept saying it had been taken care of— I did not feel safe.

Instead of a refund they offered 30% off my next stay— what a slap in the face.

No local TV, only Roku. Room temp never dropped below 74 no matter how low thermostat was set, and no \"light block\" curtain for late sleepers. Nice pool area, but no hot tub. Kitchen was nice to have, but didn't use. Everything else very nice and comfortable.
