Great little boutique hotel. Its on a canal that is busy and was noisy over the weekend. Like in America, teenage boys out cruising the canals with music blasting. The bed was squeaky and a bit firm for our comfort, but the room was large and very nice. The staff was excellent and very attentive. Breakfast is served each morning in your room, included in the price. It's very close to St. Mark's square and lots of shopping. You do have to drag your luggage from the taxi drop off point and lots of bridges to cross and most do not have ramps, so be prepared to drag your luggage up and down the stairs over the bridges. We did get a porter from the hotel to the taxi area, 35 euro for 4 bags and that was a much nicer transfer. We would stay there again, but plan on week days over the weekends.

Great quality for the price. Casanova Suite was nice and had a great view of the Bridge of Sighs. Not a 'suite' as might be expected, in terms of size - still very nice. Breakfast is delivered to the room - only option and it was just fine. Great location - quite and across from the best pizzeria in Venice m, Rosso Pomodoro!

Property is very nice and clean. There seems to be no AC in the room so we opened windows as it was too hot. That was a mistake,- mosquitoes got in right away even in early March. The front desk person didn’t have the repellent. But once we mentioned mosquitos to the person who was bringing breakfast, Rafael( might misspelled the name), he said, “just give me a minute” and he was right back with the repellent. He was just exceptional. Always smiling, supper helpful, and also got us a little gift, which was beyond sweet. Overall place is nice. It’s one block away from St. Marcos basilica so the crowed was there all the time, even at night and we were there off season.

We had the junior suite with canal view and it was gorgeous! We actually spent extra time in the room because it was so nice. We loved opening the big window doors to the balcony and people watching with the gondola stop just below. And we could also open up all the windows and smell the sea and it was like you were half outside. And the in room breakfast was so lovely and fancy. All in all a wonderful stay.

We came her for our minimoon and stayed in the Gritti Suite.
The room is absolutely beautiful and the staff were absolutely fantastic.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and when we come back to Venice we will definitely come back to this hotel. The location is fantastic and St Marks Square is less than a 5 minute walk away.
Room service for breakfast each morning was amazing. The table was laid and we sat eating breakfast in our robes and slippers.
We got our water taxi straight to the side door of the hotel which was an amazing experience.

The only issue we had with the room was the sink leaking, the shower leaking and the mildew around the bathroom window and the tub. Other then that it was ok. Location is amazing to get around. There are better more non-touristy areas of Venice but this is in the best location to start your exploring. Noisy in the morning but the canals are not just for visitors and you do have to remember that when deliveries are being chucked of a boat at 7am. Hotel itself is a good 3 star but great staff - shower was tight and a mystery

This is an old building which comes with the territory in Venice. Aside from that, we had a few issues with our room. The toilet would constantly run after flushing, a lot of water would leak on the bathroom floor from the shower, there were mosquitoes in the room which we got bites from throughout the night, the breakfast was not good, the bed was not comfortable. The staff was friendly and did their best to address our concerns. They did treat the room when we mentioned the mosquitoes, which did help.

Amazing with a nice view and absolutely great location. we Had the handicap unit which is understandable because we were only there one night but it made the bathroom experience difficult. There was no place to put shampoo or soap in the shower at all. Overall we like the place and the location is great with water taxi being able to go right to the door. Fantastic View of the Bridge of Sighs (request Canal View). We had a Junior Suite which was wonderful, with a fridge and a huge bathroom. The staff was delightful and the location superb. There are only 13 rooms so they do not have a breakfast buffet, but instead you fill out a breakfast card and they deliver it to your room and set it all up. The only negative we had was the A/C was not great, and not surprising as it is an older building. Venice never sleeps so leaving the windows open at night was, well, interesting. Would definitely stay again.

This was the most wonderful hotel, and we can’t rate it highly enough. From the moment of arrival to leaving, the experience this hotel offers is special. Fantastic location, makes seeing Venice very easy.
The room we had was amazing!(152) Gorgeous chandeliers, high beamed ceilings, and a large comfortable bed. We loved it, and would happily have stayed longer, and would return in a heartbeat.
We are missing Rafaelle bringing our breakfast to our room already!

Bedbugs, beware.

The staff were nice enough. The room was large and in a great location, however the bathroom shower leaked through the floorboards into the bedroom and the hall, and there were bedbugs, most likely on the old drapery at the head of the bed. Both myself and my spouse left with horrid bites all over our bodies, but especially on our faces. The staff claimed that they had never heard a complaint about something like this before, but I'm not so sure about that.

Not enough nice words to describe how wonderful our experience was. Outstanding customer service, multilingual and friendly staff. Beautiful room with an even more beautiful view of interior canal and alley. Personalized breakfast served in the room at chosen time. The hotel is perfectly located withing few minutes of San Mark Square, Bridge of Sights (visible from our room) and Rialto Bridge. Very charming and romantic place with a classic Venetian decor. Breakfast was ok if it wasn't something cooked.. e.g. eggs.
Eggs were cold 3 times out of 3. And very rubbery. Then was microwaved for us to make it warm. yuck . Room service was even worse.
We were forced to take food that was recommended, even after trying to cancel just 1 min after they recommend it... We had to pay even though it was not edible.. do not get room service here. It was horrible. And very over priced. Room service comes from HK restaurant nearby.
But staff was very pleasant. But would not assist with room service issues.

Bathroom had mould. But impressed.
Floors were carpeted in pictures. But we're actually terrazo ( chip ) floors. Felt very old.

Beautiful furnishings, it felt like we were royalty. We didnt get the view of the Bridge of Sighs like we had oaid for however, it really didnt matter. Room 153 - junior suite, was just gorgeous and clean and had the largest balcony with a table and chairs. Air conditioning was very good too and worked well being on all day and off at night. Bathroom was very clean and the water pressure was exceptional, it felt like a power shower. The bath had jets in it but we didnt try those as the hot weather didnt make us fancy a bath. If they work theyre a pretty cool feature. We had plenty of towels which i really appreciated as i always use 2 when i shower, but having 6 made it easy. The breakfast was unlike normal british food (no cooked breakfast other than omeletes really) so mostly cold meats ham and fruits but that was a lovely change. It really did feel luxurious having it brought to our room each morning too! Splendid! Will certainly visit again!

Nice quiet place with canal access. Water taxi can pick you up and drop you off. Our room had two balconies we could see both the entrance canal and the Grand Canal. Close to Saint Mark’s square and plenty of restaurants very close. The staff were great. I would stay here again.

The only reason you should book this hotel is for its locafion, other than that this hotel is terrible!

This hotel is in terrible condition. Hole in our bathroom wall (see picture attached), mirror cracked, hallways are also in very bad condition. See pictures attached.

I book a junior suite thinking that upgrading my room would give me a canal view..well it did not. My room was in the first floor facing another building two feet away.. super nosy! When i complained the told me the didnt have any canal view rooms available. They next morning after i posted a bad review on expedia they call me and they told me they could maybe move me to the second or third floor. However they said needed to wait for the room to become available. When i returned from sightseeing no one said anything about moving me and i decided to let it go as i did not want this to ruin my trip. The next night they asked me to write and email with my complaints, which i did and the responded with a bunch of excuses as to my the hotel was in the condition it was.

Save your money and stay somewhere else!

Venice is a unique and incredible city to visit!

Where do you start! What an awful place to stay. I’m shocked that there were any positive reviews at all. I booked a junior suite as a birthday treat for my partner. First they gave us a room that was clearly not a suite nor was it in any of the pictures of the hotel suites. They initially told us there were no other suites available as they were all occupied but after we insisted, there was a suite that became miraculously available after a couple of phone calls. The room was better but we had a broken shower, wood lice, dirty and ripped furniture and the flooring was falling apart. I was also bitten by some bugs on the bed and there was blood on the sheet.You could not make this up even if you wanted to!!!

After further complaints to ebookers (where the booking was made) and to the hotel, again another suite miraculously became available. This one was a lot better but there was no hot water. Apparently it was due to the hotel not having a big enough tank. The furniture also needs to be replaced as they are dirty and have seen better days. We ended up checking out a day earlier as we could not bear it any longer.

After posting pics on social media - ebookers refunded the 1 day hotel stay as the hotel refused to accept that there was an issue with the hotel although we had the pics that backed up our claim. Thank you ebookers

Excellent location with old Italian charm!

Talk about being right in the heart of Venice and right next to Piazza San Marco! Great room for a great price. This is a small boutique hotel without a restaurant and grand entrance, but we didn't want that. We came from a huge 5 star in Rome and wanted the smaller more private room with old Italian decor. The front desk guy, Manuele, was AMAZING!! He was funny, delightful, and always recommended great places to go!! The room was clean, beautiful and had a balcony with a view of the canal. We inquired and they do have a few rooms directly over the canal for a little extra. The rooms here were bigger than most in the area and that was a big reason for booking here too. Breakfast was included in their sister property every morning just steps away. My ONLY complaint is that the bed was a little hard for my comfort. My husband didn't seem to mind though. We would stay here again but in a room right over the canal! Thanks to all the staff for a pleasant stay!!

A classic hotel in a historic location

Hotel Al Ponte was absolutely brilliant. The location was great, as you were a few steps from the main sights in Venice, through the window was the hustle and bustle of this vibrant city. The room was luxurious with Venetian chic, with every whim catered for. The breakfast was great, you got so much. The staff in the hotel were very obliging and pleasant. Overall we liked the hotel. The location was great, not too far from the square and we had a view of the Bridge of Sighs from our room (we upgraded to a suite). Breakfast was good - we were able to go to their sister hotel and have it there. The only negative was that the room needed to be refurbished a bit. There were holes in the walls, I'm pretty sure there was a hole in the floor that was covered by the rug - I nearly rolled my ankle as I stepped into it, the hairdryer was held together with tape: small things like that. We had no problems with Wifi. The people were friendly and helpful, I wouldn't mind staying there again.

Lovely Traditional Hotel in the Heart of Venice

Totally recommend this hotel.... 2 mins from St Marks Square in the heart of it all; Service was truly excellent in every aspect from reception (Massimiliano and team), house keeping and the delicious breakfast served in your room (no extra charge) a genuine friendly atmosphere staffed by people who took real pride in what they did... they made such great and helpful efforts - thank you
All you have to do is enjoy - because the staff take the stress of everything away - they made it very special, particularly room service breakfast - well done Raffaele - thank you!!

We chose a Junior suite with a canal view; every day we watched the Gondoliers and Gondolas literally under our balcony, the Bridge of Sighs 300M's along the canal and the room was traditionally lovely with a mosaic floor, 4 poster bed and plenty of space - we both had dreadful colds so we spent more time in the room than we would have wanted but you couldn't fault it at all - even the wifi was fast enough to stream Netflix :-)
So if you want to be in the heart of it all, nice restaurants, little grocery stores to bring wine and fizz back to the room, treated politely and have excellent friendly service then this hotel easily wins - you've a little mini bar in your room as the hotel bar is 1 minute walk away - it also has it's own private pier if you're thinking of arriving directly by Water Taxi; you can - we did, for a touch of luxury..

The staff is friendly and there is a convenient water dock for arriving by water taxi from the airport (handy if you have a lot of luggage). easy to find and a great location.

Amazing canal views!

We stayed in the junior suite which was everything I hoped. It had two amazing balconies off the bedroom with a great living area and luxurious bathtub with jacuzzi. The location was excellent with astounding views of the river(small canal) and the Bridge of Sighs. We were able to find a piece of art that showed one of the balconies with the Bridge of Sighs. Only drawback ... the pillows were very firm. But that’s a personal preference.

Wonderful Boutique Hotel in heart of Venice

I LOVED staying at this boutique hotel. The service was extraordinary, they were able to accommodate a special request I had for the room I saw online and everyone was SO nice. The front desk concierge was helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do in the area, and his English was very good (since my Italian isn't so good). The location is perfect, just a few minutes from St Marks Square, shopping, restaurants, etc. We had the in-room breakfast, which was a nice offering of continental breakfast items. A few notes about the room: We stayed in a Junior Suite (room 153), no real view to speak of, but GORGEOUS opulent Venetian decor, massive room by European standards, strong water pressure in shower (yay!), and a firm bed. I prefer a softer bed, but still slept just fine. I highly recommend this hotel and plan on staying there next time I am in Venice.

Had the best experience here

My husband and I stayed here for 4 days and loved the room. It was clean, had a small balcony, and got free breakfast delivered to our room every morning. The staff is also friendly. My favorite part of booking this room is the fact that it is so close to everything including shops, museums, and places to eat. Very satisfied with our stay here.

Perfect boutique hotel

Great hotel with the most friendly, helpful staff in a good location. Our room had a beautiful view of the Bridge of Sighs and gondolas. We would definitely return here on our next visit. Loved it!

Very nice hotel

Close to St Marks plaza. Not easy to get our luggage to the hotel. Had to drag our bags over cobblestones, through the crowds. Took a wrong turn, which meant going up and down stairs which didn't help. Once we got to the hotel, the staff was very helpful. Great suggestions for restaurants. Breakfast is in their sister hotel just a few feet away. Room was spacious and comfortable, but tried keeping the windows open at night and ended up with mosquitoes in the room (no screens on the windows). Great location. Would definitely stay there again.

Very nice hotel at the heart of Venice

This hotel was a great choice. The location is hard to beat, next to the Bridge of Sighs. The staff is courteous and helpful. The rooms are very spacious, with nice baroque furniture.

Wonderful hotel

Had the most amazing time in Venice which was helped by staying in this wonderful hotel, friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous room. Breakfast served in our room was a luxury. Thoroughly recommend staying in this hotel.

Good location in San Marco

Stayed at a Junior suite overlooking the canal. Very nice location, everything is close by. The room was certainly clean, although the property is a bit run down, which is sad.
The room was spacious however it could be better. The restroom is huge and not well thought of.
It is pretty quite inside the hotel, but during carnival can be some noisy people outside.
Only bad part is that no complimentary water was provided. Neither were toiletries except for some shower gel. When contacted the reception about these two things, were told that they would be send up.
But they only sent more shower gel :)
The person at reception could have been honest and said that they do not offer anything but shower gel.

Perfect location.

The hotel could not have been better situated. The staff were incredibly attentive, helpful and thoughtful. The room (by Venice standards) was huge. Towels and bedding were changed daily and the suite was impeccably clean.

Lovely Hotel in Venice

Fantastic hotel in the heart of venice. Very central for tourist sights, shops, restaurants and hotel is very quiet for its location, just off St Marcs square.

Breakfast in room is a must, staff were excellent and so helpful. We would without doubt return to this hotel!

FANTASTIC HOTEL

Great hotel in a fantastic location. The breakfast served in the room was good too and we really couldn't fault any of the services. They changed the towels and linen daily and everyone was very helpful and friendly. It was a little hard to find in the dark as the sign isn't that prominent but it is literally just off St Marks Square taking a right after you pass the Basilica and then left and a right and its at the end. We would have found the directions useful as the sat nav didn't work properly. Our room was enormous by city standards and despite it being cold outside was very cosy.
