Really liked my stay here! It’s a clean, no-frills hotel just a 5-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square. Gina and her colleague were super helpful — they even messaged on check-in day to make sure I found the place easily.

Although our experience was very good, at 7pm there were two families that we ran into that were trying to check in. No one was there and no one was answering the phone. We stayed with them for over 30 minutes when one family finally left to go to a different hotel, and the other family finally got contact with them after asking another hotel to reach out. We do not speak Italian and when I got one person on the phone, she said it was a residential line and to come back in the morning. She was very rude. So, with that: be careful and if you know you won’t be arriving early in the day, either find somewhere else to go or get in contact with them early.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. Shower pressure was good too and the view to the canal from the room. Only negative things were that the reception has very limited opening hours and also the windows and doors could be more soundproof.

La Locandiera was a very pleasant, convenient, and relatively affordable place to stay for a first trip to Venice. The location could not be more convenient to visit the major sites and is central to the rest of the city. Though the building is old, the room was immaculate and well maintained. Guests should know reception is only open during the day. We checked in at night and used the self-checkin instructions without issue. The air conditioning was very effective.

We stayed here for 2nights before going to Verona (myself & my sister) on the 3rd floor triple room. The host Whatsapp'd on the morning of arrival, confirming timings with instructions on how to get there. Our host was there on arrival, checkin was easy & she was friendly. Easy walk from airport boat & a great location to the explore the streets, few minutes walk to St Mark's square & waterfront. Plenty of shops, restaurants etc beside it. Small lift plus few steps to 3rd floor. 1 at a time + case in lift, OK for us but wouldnt be accessible for all. Room faced into the small courtyard area to the front of the building & had shutters, windows & netted curtain. It was also mostly quiet, considering the convenience of location was a bonus! I took the small sofa type bed which was fine (we knew what we were booking) & fairly comfortable considering. The room was clean, towels & spa slippers provided. A mini fridge which I hadn't realised was in the room when booking, as well as kettle & large tv. I met the gentleman host, who was going to clean the room - we were only staying 2 nights so didn't feel needed, he offered instead fresh towels etc Bathroom clean & shower hot. Overall good wee spot, had all we needed but it's more like an Airbnb room than hotel but would be happy to stay again, if the price was reasonable enough again too.

Hotel is in a hidden area and very rustic. Receptionist was friendly but the room was smoky. It does have an elevator which is huge! Dog outside in neighboring building barked ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT Until after 10pm. Just prepare yourself. My wife complained about the bed being too hard. I thought the shower in the tub was slippery and a bit dangerous with no mat, but does have astool you can put in.

Luckily the temperature was comfortable enough to open a window… but then mosquitos were everywhere in the room. Only able to use 5 nights of 7 night reservation due to flight cancelation due to severe weather. It is understandable hotel did not have availability to extend our apartment the additional 2 nights of our trip. What was unprofessional and unkind isnot extending to us an available reduced room at our rate paid. Instead they said they could give us the reduced room at an additional cost of almost $600.

The check-in was very easy With the staff being very accommodating. The rooms are very big. There was water in the room. Rooms had refrigerators, but ours did not work. The front desk closes after 8 PM so you need a special device to be able to open the gate to the courtyard to get into the building. We had asked to arrange a water taxi for a trip to the airport. She took our numbers and told us the taxi driver would be calling us, but we never received a call. We ended up walking to the pier and grabbing a water taxi from there. Overall was a nice experience. Close to everything was a 10-15 minute walk from the pier with no bridges.

I recieved a text message to ask what time id arrive. And she gave me directions what transport to get to the hotel. When we got there i just text the number saying we were here and she came to meet us. Room was ready for us so we checked in, were taken to our room and given instructions on keys and aircon and left to it. Didnt have any problems. We were a short walk to 5 restaurants and a cafe all in a little square and it wasnt far from the coast so easy to get to and from. Also only a short walk to St Marks Square. Would stay here again.

We had room 1 which is classed as a studio apartment. The room looks lovely, bright and spacious on the official photos, however the reality is that it is dark, dank and thoroughly depressing. The canal view promised was equally disappointing as the windows had bars and nets in front so there was no real view. The room itself was dirty with spiders and webs in all the corners. I had to remove a number of these before my daughter would use the bathroom. The bathroom shelf was broken so there was nowhere to put toiletries. We didn’t even unpack as everything was grubby and damp. The plaster is falling off the walls, there are numerous dead bugs stuck to the walls and ceiling and stains on the paint work. The entire place needs an update.

Rooms were decent enough, and location is good for some of the bigger attractions. Take a water bus to St Marks to get there, or you will have to drag luggage through Venice. Limited hours of reception, and even during those hours it was often closed/impossible to reach anybody.

Check in was remote with a key box. The layout of the bathroom was odd. The bidet was next to the sink and the toilet in a corner near the shower. Shower glass was not attached to the tub. It all worked out and the location was good.

The location of the hotel was convenient to many of the sights in Venice. It also felt less touristy than some of the other areas. When we visited, it was unseasonably hot in Venice and this hotel did not have air conditioning. We opened the windows and without screens, we were bombarded by mosquitoes. We were severely bitten as we slept overnight. If you are not staying during the hot months, this hotel would be fine.

We tried knocking and calling both numbers posted but no one ever picked up, so we were stuck. Thankfully someone else was coming home and let us in.
However the last night it was very cold and we were stuck for over an hour outside. They didn’t answer the phone, we texted Expedia and they tried to contact the host with no response. Finally Expedia said we should find somewhere to stay for the night, even though our luggage was stuck inside the place. Expedia said they wanted to request a refund from the host for the last night in our behalf, but also said the host would not likely ever respond or repay anything, and they were right. Finally the host answered a message through the Expedia app with a code number to get in, no explanation or apology.
Overall, not a terrible apartment, we wouldn’t stay again. It’s uncomfortable to walk around the city knowing that when you get home you might not be able to get in, no one is in the office or answers the phone.

However the last night it was very cold and we were stuck for over an hour outside. They didn’t answer the phone, we texted Expedia and they tried to contact the host with no response. Finally Expedia said we should find somewhere to stay for the night, even though our luggage was stuck inside the place. Expedia said they wanted to request a refund from the host for the last night in our behalf, but also said the host would not likely ever respond or repay anything, and they were right. Finally the host answered a message through the Expedia app with a code number to get in, no explanation or apology.
Overall, not a terrible apartment, we wouldn’t stay again. It’s uncomfortable to walk around the city knowing that when you get home you might not be able to get in, no one is in the office or answers the phone.

hotel was good value for money ( relative to other properties in the area - not cheap obvs!). it was spotlessly clean, spacious room, very comfy bed. Window overlooked a little canal. There was tea, coffee and biccies. There isn’t s bar or restaurant ( it’s more like an air B&B that gets cleaned every day!) but it’s a 2 min walk to a gorgeous square full of bars and cafes. Check in and out super quick and easy and staff lovely. Deffo a safe nice choice. :)

We arrived early in Venice and were able to stop by the hotel. It is a very short walk from the vapporetto stop. I highly suggest communicating with them your time of arrival in Venice. They will send you messages with the Expedia messaging and they will respond to your inquiries. We were able to check in our baggages well in advance while we went sight seeing. The hotel is situated in a small square where not many tourists pass through. You walk 1 or 2 minutes in any direction and you find bistros, restaurants and shops. It is very close to St. Mark Square. A 4 minutes walk to the edge of the laggon, turn right, and your'e there. The room we had is 01. Nice studio with all the amenities. You can open the window on the canal. There's even an old door that opens on the canal, giving you a unique view. The bed was clean and comfortable. There are 2 A/C units which help make the room dry and cold if you like it that way. We did. The staff is without questions the most helpful and friendly I've seen in all my travels. For example, I wet my pants, socks and boots because of the high tide. The lady at the front desk let me change my pants, socks and booths in a private room, even after I had checked out. There's Netflix, prime and more directly on the TV, you need to log into your account. There's also YouTube on the TV and free wifi. I am very happy with my choice.

We booked La Locandiera as a no-frills but well-located accommodation option, and it exceeded our expectations. Of course there are some small areas that could use improvement (the occasional peeling paint or shower that leaks a bit of water onto the tile floor), but overall we would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others. The communication was great in everything from giving a dropped pin and specific directions to the hotel, to assisting us to come up with alternate ways to get back to the airport when the city water taxi service we had already paid for went on strike. The bed was firm but very comfortable, as was the bedding. The air conditioning worked really well and was a welcome relief after days out in the sun. The location is brilliant for anywhere you might want to go, but just far off the tourist squares that it's quiet and relaxing over night. While this is a no-frills accommodation, the room and bathroom were very spacious and everything worked well.

The moment we arrived , the staff guide us starting from arrival from the airport , what to take to go there, which transportation ( blue line) . She waited for us until we arrived in the port area. The place is convenient to places like San Marco square, the Rialto , Doge’s Palace. Gondola pass by at the back of the room where in you will hear either someone is singing or just passing by. The room is clean , you can cook it has kitchen. Overall I was happy and pleased to La Locandiera, I would recommend.

La Locandiera was the best place for us in Venice. So very close to St. Mark's square yet far enough off the beaten path to be very quiet and comfortable. The staff are friendly and so helpful. Would definitely recommend and would stay again if we were ever back.

The location of this hotel is wonderful, it is close to the water bus stop at the Palazzo Ducale (S. Zaccharia), just a 5 minute walk with your luggage. It faces a very quiet courtyard around a well, so away from crowds and noise, but is just a few steps from many dining and shopping places. We loved staying here. There is no dining at the hotel, but why would you want to with everything so close by. The rooms were large and very clean, and there is a full-size fridge shared by the 1st floor we were on. There is an elevator that we only used to move our luggage upstairs. Everything was very well maintained, great place.

Lovely large comfortable room with a bathroom, private kitchen and dining area overlooking a small canal. The kitchen was well equipped for small a meal preparation and fresh coffee. Fantastic location. A few minutes from San Marco Square with transport hubs. From the airport the easiest and most efficient method of transport is a water bus. We arrived via the train station which was a difficult walk to the hotel.The hotel was very clean and in a peaceful location. We were contacted ahead of arrival by Gina (hostess). Would definitely stay here again.

The location is great, and we got there from the boat (with the baggage) without going over any bridge. They also kept our baggage after check-out time, but the room was very small (superior double or twin room) - not nearly as big or bright as the pictures. Inside the room, there was a connecting door to another room. There were a few stairs after the elevator, but I think it's a miracle that they managed to put in an elevator into this old building. We didn't find any common area - like a lobby. Unfortunately, we did find small hairs in the bidet - really disgusting. We didn't use the bidet, but that told us about the level of cleaning.

La Locandiera is a nice place to stay for those visiting Venice for a short stay. It is generally well-situated around Venice's major tourist attractions with most being accessible within a 10-12 minute walk from the hotel. However, Venice is a maze of paths, corridors, and alleys and finding La Locandiera was challenging at times (Google maps was always a big help!). We were fortunate enough to arrive during regular business hours and could check-in at La Locandiera itself as opposed to having to reach out for assistance, which was good because the lady who checked us in was on her first day and wasn't all that familiar with the process. All in all, it is a secure, quiet, and peaceful hotel that allowed us to visit Venice at our own pace.

The location where you check in and out from the hotel is in a completely different location across a bridge that goes over a canal. My initial impression was that this place was very unorganized. The room had no air conditioning and there was no shower curtain. The cleaning lady did a good job. At checkout I had to pay an additional fee for city tax. I have never heard of this. The hotel is in a great area and within walking distance to anything you need to see.

This is a great hotel. It looked like what I think a Venetian hotel should be. Nice accommodations, comfortable beds, very clean, close to St. Marks square. Had a very good breakfast and the dining room was very elegant. The people there were friendly and helpful. When we go back to Venice we will definitely stay at this hotel.

This townhouse is whisper quiet and yet close to St Mark’s Square and water transport. Restaurants very close. I think this rates very high for price. Shame breakfast at different hotel and costs extra, otherwise a good stay.

This hotel is staffed by a hotel around the corner. There is no one at the desk on site. That made it harder to get information and assistance but the staff around the corner were nice. The hotel is a bit shabby and the air conditioning was turned off for the season. Unfortunately we were on the 3rd floor and it was hot in our rooms even with the windows open. However, the location was terrific. I’d probably book the hotel around the corner next time but this hotel was fine.

Stayed here for 3 nights; room and breakfast were great. Only issue was that the bed comforter was a little old (not dirty, just starting to fray). Other than that, I'd definitely recommend this hotel, especially for the price.

Staying at La Locandiera was an easy experience. The location was convenient and distances to the main attractions were easy and walkable. There were plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby so lots of choices while dining as the hotel only serves breakfast.

The elevator is tiny so if you have a lot of big bags it could be an issue.
There can be some noise from people passing through the streets below especially if they're drunk at night but I don't see how that can be avoided in Venice where the streets are so narrow and you can hear most noises.

We had a little bit of trouble finding the check-in hotel, but we could have saved ourselves some trouble if we had printed off the directions provided! The staff were all very friendly, the room was a good size and clean. Our room directly overlooked a quiet area, straight above a canal. The complimentary breakfast selection was great, but only offered in the main hotel. This hotel is very close to many popular landmarks, just around the corner from Piazza San Marco and a short walk to Rialto Bridge. Despite being so close to these attractions, the area of the hotel was very quiet. The bathroom was spacious and had a large tub, but no ability to shower. I'm an American so this was strange to me--the faucet to fill the tub was a regular showerhead that you could detach from the tub, but no shower curtain and nowhere to place the showerhead up any higher. The tub is large for baths, though. Free Wifi was pretty good too.
