This charming small, cosy hotel is located in the heart of Venice, just 150 metres from the Basilica San Marco and the famous Square. It is set in a historic building and has been managed from the Perut family for generations.
The wooden beams on the ceiling of the breakfast room and lounge are all easily visible and remind its guests of the long history and the authentic charm of the venue. They can start their day with the hearty breakfast or enjoy a strong espresso that will prepare them for the excitement and adventures that await.
There is a WiFi internet access throughout and all of the simply decorated rooms are air-conditioned.

6 story walk up to my room, no lift. Glass shower door came off runner when trying to close. Changed towels after only one use. Plastic cup in room wrapped in plastic. Had to keep window open for ventilation. Only 1 working socket in room. Really tucked away. You get what you pay for.

4 flights of dirty carpet stairs to a room filled with mosquitos and dead ones on the walls. Broken shower head. Tiny bathroom. Super old and gross. Sign in the room said “sorry the government won’t let us update” hmm ever heard of paint and some modern furniture? Thinking the reviews in here are fake because it was not even close to good.

The location is hard to beat, tucked along a peaceful canal but just minutes from many of Venice’s busiest sights. My room was simple and minimalistic, and while not particularly spacious, the air conditioning made a big difference during the warmer days of my stay. What really stood out was the staff: warm, attentive, and consistently helpful. Daily interactions with them were a pleasure. Breakfast was totally adequate, with fresh croissants and made-to-order cappuccinos adding a nice touch to the mornings.

This was a great location for our vacation as it was centrally located to the things we wanted to see and do. We took the train to Venice and once we arrived, we needed to purchase tickets outside by the canal for the water bus. The hotel is on a canal which is lovely but it's not where the boat drops you off. You will need to walk about 10 minutes to the hotel. There is no elevator but the hotel has a lot of charm. The staff was very helpful. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit small but roomier than what we had in Paris. The room was clean when we got there and was cleaned every day we were there. There is water and tea available throughout the day. The breakfast was great! The staff also helped us figure out the Alilaguna boat location and which boat to take to get to the airport (It will take about 1 hour 20 minutes from the dock to the airport.) Overall, a fantastic experience with this hotel!

The room was a typical room you can expect in a European hotel, but it gets 5 stars for the location, view and friendliness of the staff. I was amazed to be able to find such an affordable hotel in such a beautiful location. It's within walking distance from several restaurants and major attractions, but the hotel itself is located on a little side street where almost no tourists go, so you're getting the true Venetian experience.

Within walking distance of St. Mark's Square, situated on a small canal, the Locanda Silva was clean and comfortable. Friendly front desk person; check-in was quick. Note that the front desk is up one flight of stairs, and then two flights of stairs to our room, which was spacious and clean. Comfortable bed. The bathroom and shower is on the small side, but manageable. There was an armoire, desk, and wall TV. Reading lamp on the nightstands (thank you!). The front desk is manned until 11pm. Breakfast comes with the room; served at 8am in a community dining room. Hot breakfast items, pastries, fruit, coffee; all delicious! We enjoyed our nightly walk from St. Mark's Square through the neighborhood and along the canal.

The hotel was easy to find and only a short walk from St Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge. The staff were friendly and very helpful and on reception spoke excellent English. Breakfast was plentiful. We got the boat from the airport to San Zacharia/St Mark’s but to return walked a little further to Fondament te Nove which halves the journey time back to the airport

Meh. The location was great, but the hotel was just ok. The girl working the front desk was pretty rude and didn’t explain how to work the air conditioner (it was 90 degrees out) and just said, “yeah, it’s hot for us too”. Beds were not comfortable, shower was small. Like, I couldn’t shave my legs with the door closed small I’m 5’8”.

This was a great little hotel that was very economically friendly. The staff were super helpful and pleasant, and the location was convenient. Breakfast was included and though it didn't have a lot of options, was tasty. The downside, like many European properties, is there is no elevator.

This older, smaller hotel is located near San Marcos square and shopping. Our family stayed in a quad room with 4 comfortable twin beds and a private bath/shower with plenty of hot water. The air-conditioner condenser was dripping water at night, and the staff got it fixed the next day. Daily cleaning with fresh towels. The hotel staff was helpful and polite. As most hotels, it was a little tricky to find at first.

Check in was a breeze, and the staff was helpful. Getting to the hotel was so well explained and worry free. Our room was in much need of updating but we did see some rooms that were quite nice, so maybe they will get to ours eventually. But it was comfortable, very small but did the trick. Best shower in my 5 weeks in Italy, but again small!

Its hard to say anything wrong about this hotel. From the instant we arrived we were made to feel more at home than any other hotel we have ever visited. The location is excellent and central to most attractions. They also ensured that information was available for activities taking place nearby and were always happy to answer questions. The lady at breakfast made sure we started every day with a smile. The decor was lovely and modern and homely. The only tiny issue was the dust in the room which set of my allergies a little. Once we cleaned it it was absolutely fine.

Great location between Paizza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge. The room is small but comfortable with a private bathroom (could use updated), has a nice window overlooking a canal. The staff was very nice and friendly, and they have a nice breakfast.

This hotel is very well placed being very close to many restaurants, cafes and shops. It is a very basic hotel, the rooms have neither TV, tea making equipment nor safes. It could benefit from redecorating but it is clean and the beds are quite comfortable although the pillows are flat and hard like biscuits! The face towels provided are like tea towels but the bath towels, although quite small, are at least proper towels. The shower rooms are very small indeed but the water pressure is adequate to provide a good shower.The breakfast is served by very pleasant ladies and is plentiful and varied. There is quite a steep flight of stairs up to the reception and more to the rooms and there is no lift.

The A/C didn't work so we opened windows and woke up to about 15 mosquitoes buzzing around us (and I was covered in bites, head to toe!). The hotel was hard to find, even after the third or fourth time, so we only managed with the help of a GPS, but if you don't have a sim card to use that feature on your phone, you may be in trouble!

A Central Quiet Hotel
My daughter and I wanted somewhere not too expensive but near to St. Mark's Square. Locanda Silva fitted the bill perfectly. It was quiet, off the beaten track but only five minutes away from St. Marks. the drawback could be, for older people, there is no lift but otherwise everything was very good. The staff were friendly and breakfast adequate. I stayed there once before and would definitely stay again.

Small, I can understand that. The staff were friendly but you could never get a straight answer because the guy just wanted to joke with you for five minutes with every question. We wanted to do laundry and he said they didn't have a service, even though it was online, so we went and paid 17 euros to do laundry to find out later that they in fact had the service the floor above us. I don't know how he didn't know that.
My big complaint, which is why I wouldn't recommend this hotel, is that the bed was the most uncomfortable bed in Europe that we slept on. We stayed in 8 hotels total and this was the worst. You could literally feel the springs with every movement. It felt like there were springs with a sheet over them. Horrible nights sleep those two nights.
It's also about impossible to find if you don't have google maps going. We didn't pay for international data and wished we would have.
For the price it was clean, in a good neighborhood and the staff was friendly. Oh yeah the breakfast was flipping amazing! Best free breakfast we had all trip but like I said, impossible to sleep on that mattress.

We stayed 3 nights in Locanda Silva. You couldn't ask more for this price in the heart of Venice - good neighborhood, restaurants and shops around, 7 min walking distance to St. Marco square and vaporeto (local boat transport). We picked it base on the reviews. They were right and we were happy with our choice. The room was clean, the bed – comfortable, the blanket and pillow – cotton that made our sleep good after long hours walking. There is a terrace on the roof from where you can see the top of St. Marco Cathedral (200m). The hotel is on a Fondamenta (a street that runs alongside a canal). Follow carefully their instructions how to find the hotel. You easily can be lost. Have a map of Venice and enjoy!

You'll need to be ready to walk and climb a bit to get there, but we thought it was worth it. Centrally located; friendly service; clean and bright rooms. You'll want to find it in the daylight and be aware of the stair climbing. Don't expect much of a view from rooms, but there are 2 small roof-top terraces that provide a little Venetian ambiance.
