Host communication was okay. Gave me a detailed info to how to get in my room. I asked for storage availability, got no answer for 12 hours later.
Overall, location does it all. I would recommend this place if you don't have lenghty schedule to explore the city.

When we arrived, the air conditioning was nice and chilly and the gentleman who checked us in made a point of saying that the air conditioning was working before he left the room. He’d come upstairs as he’d helped by carrying a very heavy suitcase, which was unexpected but very much appreciated. After the first night, the air conditioning no longer worked and it was extremely uncomfortable as we stayed during a period of unusually high temperatures. I would never book a room without air conditioning and this is a total red line for me - unacceptable. Because the front desk is unmanned overnight there was no way to seek a remedy to this as we left on the morning of the third day. The sheets felt clean. Everything else felt unclean. We did have a canal view directly from our windows but you could only enjoy it if you were standing directly in the window, you can’t see it lying on the bed. It was really hard getting to this hotel with heavy bags, it was the end of a four week trip for us so we weren’t travelling lightly. This was the hotel and destination that I enjoyed least of our time in Italy. I do not recommend.

Check out es a las 10:00 y la señora de limpieza súper malhumorada va a tocar a la puerta y con muy mala cara te dice que ya se pasaron 20 minutos! Por el precio que cobran deberían ser muy amables y muy flexibles. Si pueden reservar un local que no cobre por un check in, evitaría a toda costa el local. La señorita de recepción es amable, el muchacho de la mañana no. Es la primera vez en 20 años que veo que alguien cobre por un check in. Lo entendería si fuera después de las 22:00. En fin, a evitar, no lo vale

Great stay! I went in thinking from other reviews that the air conditioner wouldn’t be working, but it worked very well! And the room was beautiful, unique, and had a cute little canal view. There are some stairs, but the employee at the front desk helped us carry our bags up. Helpful staff, great location, great room!

Everything was perfect. The location was perfect, the hotel had a very vintage feel. The staff was great. Beautiful room,. Only complaint was the shower in the bathroom, the glass did not cover the tub well. Therefore water constantly leaked to the floors during a shower. We went through a lot of soaked towels during our stay to try to keep the floors dry. Other than that I loved it.

We arrived at the train station and calledthe hotel for help on which boat to take. The lady at the line just repeated the words "Number one". I inquired her on which letter (boat stations are addressed by letters and numbers, letters A through D, or something like), she just repeated "number one" about 3 times with very rude manners, and hung up the call. I called back twice, she never picked the call. My wife and walked around with our luggage until we found tje information center and the lady (very professionally) guided me to boat C2. When I arrived at the hotel, I asked the recepcionist why she gave me wrong information and hung up. She acted like nothing happened and said something about phone malfunction. She was very rude in the call, then acted innocent. I have no idea why, but I just do not recommend this hotel. The guy at morning shif was very nice and polite, totally different than the lady at afternoon shift. I would not stay there again, you need to train your staff better. That situation was very disrespectful to a customer.

The room itself was clean and the bathroom big enough, but the beds are super uncomfortable. They put two single beds together to create a double bed, so it was already super uncomfortable and also had that gap between them.

We left earlier because we couldn’t stand the beds anymore.

Other than that, location was good, walk distance from everything. Really good restaurant and shops around.

Room was absolutely full of Mold! The whole bathroom. The bed was absolutely horrible, it was just 2 singles pushed together. My husband and I just ended up in a crack in the middle of the bed, both waking up sore. The shower was absolutely dreadful. Couldn’t even have a shower, had to have a bath. Probably the worst place I have stayed in, in the whole of Europe and I have been to five countries this month.

The room was ready when we arrived a little early for check in which was very welcome. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and had all we needed for a two night stay and a lovely view of the canal.

There is no lift which didn't bother us with our small cases but it was a problem for a fellow guest with a big case. I am sure there is a light on the stairs but we couldn't find it when we were coming down early in the morning!

Right at the corner of 2 canals and about 8 minute walk from Rialto Bridge. Quieter area of Venice. You can actually see gondolas glide by the window of their lobby/dining area--how cool. Out our window (and many of their rooms have similar views) you could see the canals.

This is not your typical hotel but a guest house with 4 or 5 rooms. It is right on the canal by a bridge and around the corner from a piazza, so a very lovely spot. Maria was at the front desk when we check in and was very friendly, nice and helpful. She showed us our room and the amenities, and even assisted with booking a water taxi for us for the airport for the next morning. The property is lovely and charming- note that there isn't an elevator so be prepared to carry your bags up 2 flights of stairs. The rooms are decorated to make you feel as if you've stepped into old world Venice. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom spacious. The air con is not what we are used to in the States, but the room had a standing fan and that plus the air con made it comfortable to sleep. There were a variety of restaurants not far away. I would stay here again.

Our only gripe is the shower door in our room did not operate the best, it would sometimes pivot on its own and cause the bathroom floor to be soaked. There isn’t a fixed shower head, just a hand held one so that added to the problem. There was also potentially some mold on the corner of the bathroom between the mirror and window.

It’s not the best here. I understand that it’s budget but the mould in the bathroom is off putting and the rust running down the side of the bath and on all the fittings is awful. The glass screen doesn’t fit correctly so water goes all over the floor, plus it hits you in the back when you’re having a shower. You have to hold the shower head when you have a shower due to it falling off and also not actually sitting on the wall above your head unless you’re under five feet tall making hair washing a nightmare.
The bed is really comfy but the room and furniture are tatty, there’s nowhere to really store anything so we just lived out of our suitcases for the duration. The walls are thin and you can hear the neighbouring rooms but we expected that.
The floors are uneven but that is Venice and the carpet laid over the stairs is borderline dangerous.
The staff are nice enough.

But if you are looking for a decent budget hotel that you want to save money on and still sleep beautifully, this place is it. I enjoyed my stay! I rarely leave reviews unless it's 5 stars, but this one was pretty bad. I waited until we finished our 3 week European trip to review this "upscale" property. I wondered if the rude greeting and musty smells were typical of a 3-star "hotel" (it's a B&B). After 10 hotel stays, I learned the smells and cranky staff were unique to this particular business. It's long walk from the water taxi especially if you're bogged down with luggage. Not clearly identifiable (we walked by it several times) and you have to call their staff and wait for them to check you in. Bedroom decor is far from calming. Bathroom shower faucet was broken and sprayed out every which way. Funky smells in room and lobby. No offer to help my daughter and me with our luggage up an endless flight of stairs (we were exhausted after traveling for 24-hours straight). The front desk clerk, looking annoyed while standing at the top of the stairs watching us struggle.

Quite a comfortable room and bed. Stairs to the room are a testiment to the age of the building. Watching the activity on the canal was a show in itself as the gondolieri expertly navigate the intersecting waterways. Room was excellent for location to so many good places for coffee and food.

Just a little disappointed in the room that we only stayed one of the 3 nights we booked. The A/C was the #1 issue as it did not cool down the room sufficiently. We were sticky from the humidity and heat by morning. We brought it up to the front desk...she came upstairs, fiddled with the thermosat, and made us feel like we were crazy. She said what's wrong with it; as if we were imagining the heat in the room. The room itself was just ok. You get what you pay for.

This property is located centrally but is not well run. There are no staff snd they charged us €20 for checking in 20 mins after 8pm ridiculous. The stairs are dirty and slippery. The rooms small and beds hard. TV did not work. Shower was smaller than a boat shower so you could not bend at all. The internet stopped working and no one around to ask what was happening. Overall a dive in a great location.

There is no sign on the door. I was walking around in circles for 3 hours until I walked in. When I asked why there are no signs, the Assistant said it costs money to put a sign up...(?). The Shower space is very limited. If you weight more than 130 lbs, you won't fit in there. Other than that, all else was superb.

Most hotels in the Venice area are dated. It’s important to note this hotel has no elevator however it’s only 2 levels. Located Right by the canal and within 5-10 walling minutes of all the major sites. Close to Rialto Bridge, 6 min, which is a major stop on the ferry. Rooms have AC and are a decent size. No staff in the evening or overnight. You will be given a physical key to your room which you can’t lose since there is no overnight staff to let you in if you return late.

It's more of a house with rooms than a hotel as there are very limited facilities outside of the rooms (i.e. none).
Certainly not suitable for anyone with physical disabilities as the stairs are steep (no lift).
Location is near to lots of dining and shopping so great and only 4-5 minutes to the Rialto and St Marks.

We really liked the decoration of the room; it gave the vibes of old luxury venetian style. The area is in a quite place and close to a lot of tourist spots, like the piazza of S. Marco and the boat stops for the other islands. The room was clean.

Bathroom clean with toiletries provided.
Would be difficult to negotiate the stairs with any mobility issues.
The staff I met were fine but the reception was rarely open. I left notes when something was required.
A reading lamp was promptly provided on request.
Rather disconcerting that the door between adjoining rooms was not locked on my side. They assured me that it was locked on the other side & the guests there had no key. Particularly as a woman on my own, I would still have been happier if mine had been locked.
As my flight was not until the evening, I wanted to leave my bag to collect later. There was no one on reception until after checkout so no one to store the bag & you couldn’t leave the key as possibly you couldn’t get back in later to collect it. In the end, I paid for a storage locker near St Mark’s square.

Location of the Hotel was excellent and all attractions were very accessible. Check in was quick and easy and the hotel provided luggage storage at the end of our stay to allow us to make the most of our last day. If returning to Venice we will definitely return to the Dimora Dogale
