This was not what I paid for! The room was nothing like the picture advertised.it was pocky and tiny with very little room to move. The shower door was blocked by the toilet and wouldn't close. Check in was over a computer monitor with just a voice telling me to pick up directions and go elsewhere to register. Never met the voice's owner. An overall depressing experience.

This is going to be harsh

Our room was finished being renovated 30 minutes before check in so the air smelled of paint and chemical even though the guy that checked us in said he used an ozonator. The air-conditioning didn’t work not even the fan. The room was 30° unbearable, and not even a fan provided to plug-in. I didn’t sleep the whole night literally. Only way to get a little bit of air was to keep the window wide open but touristy Venice never sleeps so It was just like the outdoors was in your room. At 5 AM I was online looking for a new hotel and checked out the next day ASAP. The manager was not at all interested This was an economy room But not inexpensive. Had the air conditioning been on or at least a fan provided, it would have been at least tolerable but as it was , a horrible experience. Waste of money and disappointment. Thankfully we found a beautiful hotel and went on to have a great stay in Venice. If you want to stay up all night sweating in your room , then stay here. Harsh Review, yes! But deserving.

Open door, room smells of poop. Then sewage. Then body odor. Tell staff, they say they cannot do anything. They eventually deoderised it. Bathroom still smelt of sewage so the plumbing bit old, keep door closed! And window open. Then smell will be ok.

Easy to find, close to amenities

Hotel was easy to find, check in was convenient, local to Rialto and everything we needed. Room was lovely, bathroom a little small but manageable. Reasonable price too. Room was as pictured on the site. Slightly noisy with street noise but that's inevitable given the location. Will be staying again.

Well situated in Venice near the Rialto bridge

The hotel has No reception, check in is in another hotel I am not sure how we would of found it if someone had not been checking out at the same time as we were checking in. The shower was extremely small, otherwise the room was big for Venice comfortable clean and tidy and very well located

Clean and near Rialto bridge

This hotel was less expensive than other hotels. It was clean and in the area we wanted to be. For this reason, we were relatively happy with our experience. The check-in location is about a minutes walk from the hotel. It looks a little shady, but Venice is very safe, even late at night. Never had any issues with safety and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to connect to the WiFi when we first checked in, but later that night, we no longer were able to connect. We asked the staff and they said they would send someone to fix it the next day. It sounded like this happened rather frequently at this location. However, I was able to walk to the other location and use the internet there. There are a lot of stairs to get to the room along with tight hallways, so guests should be aware of this. Also, it is right in the midst of a busy part of Venice, so it is a bit noisy at night, but I always sleep with ear plugs, so this didn't really bother me. Overall, a fun place to stay for the rate we paid.

One Night Stand

My husband and I stayed at San Lio only one night. It was comfortable and reasonable. If I ever return to Venice, I will definitely give San Lio a look. The man who checked us in was very nice and accommodating and gave us several recommendations for lunch.

Good if was not the bathroom

Despite the fact that the reception is not in the same place of the rooms, that staff are very friendly and helpful, they guide you through the reception. The location is very good. The only thing that I will have to be concerned is the bathroom, the shower, and just have it, is so small. Serious, is so small that is almost impossible take a proper shower without make a mess. I strongly suggest the hotel management a change in the toilet, to gain more space.
Said that is a good hotel.

Great area for shopping and restaurants

The room it self was ok, easy to get to from Rialto bridge water taxi stop, but the heater in my room did not work and when I called they did not come to fix it, so it was a very chilly night tucked under the covers. The bathroom was so tiny and seriously lacking in shelving so there is no where to put your toiletries. You can definitely hear other people and banging noises upstairs and the second day there was no hot water, so I was glad to be checking out.

However, considering the fact that when in Venice most of your time will be spent out wandering the alleyways and bridges, keep in mind the hotel is in a great area so it may be worth it. Plus, what you save in accommodations can be spent on a lovely dinner or gondola ride.

Green Door

Venice is notoriously difficult to manage. Never the less, this hotel was near impossible to find. We actually walked past it. The hotel is a plainly marked green door and you will more than likely have to go to a neighboring hotel and ask for directions. It is located near a pharmacy and other then that and a few peculiarities, I was very pleased with our stay.

Make sure you look at the reservation because check in is in a different location. Pack light when you are in Venice because the only two ways to get to the hotel are by water or walking. The room was very spacious and clean! It was in a great location to be able to explore Venice in a short trip!

Arrived in Venice got vaporetta to riatto bridge after a bus ride very quick transfer. Found San lip tourist house within 5 minutes asked directions everyone knew it. On arrival got sent to another hotel 2 minutes away asked if we would like free upgrade so we did. Accommmodation warm cozy and more than expected would definitely travel and stay here again manager gave us advice on getting about quickly.

convenient location, too many stairs!

We stayed here for one night in late Sep. 2016. The location is great, close to everything, but the hotel is very hard to find!! make sure you have a GPS system with you specially if it's your first time in Venice. The check in is few blocks away so you ring the bell, they open the door, you climb the stairs (some 15 of them-no elevator) then you talk to a TV monitor and they tell you where to go to check in. It might sound confusing but it really is not that bad. actually this is very normal for Venice to have your hotel at some place and check in place in another location. It's very close to Sr. Mark's square, there are beautiful shops and alleys all around you, few cafe's within your foot steps. The room was vry clean and great view of the alleys, it's just a bit noisy but didn't bother us. It is a very old building but renovated inside, so you get to have a very modern, spacious bathroom and shower (at least our room was like that) Enjoy your time in Venice, it's truly a lovely city :)

Know this: if you want to go to Venice and stay in the main island, you'all be staying at a hotel that is old as f$&@! With that in mind, most hotels there are really expensive. This one is just what you paid for! The room itself is very old but it's clean. The one huge positive is the location! It's within walking distance of everything!! We literally only had to use the boat from the station and to go to the other islands!

The room did what it needed at its most basic. The bathroom was nice but the beds were uncomfortable, there's a bright blinking pharmacy light that goes all night in the window, the room needs seriously painted. It wasn't awful it was clean and worked as a place to stay but for the price I didn't feel it was worth it.

The room was excellent for the very low price, and the location was unbeatable at any price -- we could barely believe it!

Given the price, we weren't surprised at a few drawbacks. The room was very small, and the \"queen bed\" was two single mattresses joined by a comfortable but noticeable padded connector. The wifi was slow and also included a warning against using \"inappropriate sites,\" which was confusing for us as a male-male couple in a conservative Catholic country. Would our access be revoked for looking up gay bars catering to our people, for example?

However, the location, comfort, decor, price, and staff were all excellent, and we would enthusiastically recommend staying here.

The hotel itself was okay but the room was very noisy, instead of letting us know so we could buy earplugs they didn't mention anything at all so we didn't sleep the whole night. When we called them early morning to ask for a check out an hour later then usual because of this they were very rude and didn't budge at all. It's obvious they knew that the room is always very noisy.

Great location

This hotel is actually just rooms, no reception, you need to check-in at another hotel 5 min away, staff there was helpful. The room I had (cannot remember the number) was facing the little square, a spacious double. The window shutters outside were good to keep the noise and light out. The location is great, between Realto (closer) and San Marco so perfect for exploring Venice which does not mean I did not get lost the first night trying to find it in the little streets :)

Great location on the island. But that's the only good thing about this hotel. For me and my partner we had two very uncomfortable single beds pushed together which keeped separating at night. Shower was extremely tiny. No bigger then 2 1/2 feet X 2 1/2 feet. The whole space in the room was really small also. wasn't noisey thoe which was good.

Hotel with great price and location!

We stayed at the San Lio Guest house for 2 nights during Venice's carnival season in February 2016. I stayed with wife, our 2 year old daughter, and my sister in law. The room size was great for all of us (although it's just one big room so only recommend for a short stay with larger group). What I especially appreciated was they configured the beds so we could all fit comfortably, there was a nice double for my wife and I, an already made single pull out bed and a crib with cute bedding my daughter loved.
The best thing about this hotel was the price and location. Very budget friendly and in the heart of everything!
Also, we asked the hotel receptionist for restaurant recommendations and he gave us several. All the ones we tried were delicious so we really appreciated his advice. He also was able to explain the map to us and gave us many helpful tips with getting around.
Overall, our experience in Venice was amazing and we really enjoyed our stay here!

Check in can be confusing, you have to check in at another hotel and then it is a self-serviced room for the stay. You are given the key and then don't have contact with staff again. The room is cleaned daily however.

The room was nice and a good size with plenty of space. It was also clean. However, it got quite loud at night even after closing the shutters. We stayed there on a weekend so there were many people around. The location however was quite good as it is between St. Marks and the rialto bridge meaning nothing is too far.

We enjoyed 2 nights stay in this hotel (actually guest/tourist house) with my wife.
It was one of the comfortable hotels in Italy we have stayed during 15 days.
Location was close to Rialto Bridge and San Marco square.

This hotel is absolutely fine. I was really worried before we went as there were a lot of negatives comments on Trip Advisor. I needn't have worried. Yes, the hotel is a little tricky to find but the hotel sent full directions and even a video before we went and this was invaluable. Once you know where it is the hotel is easy to locate. Checking in and breakfast is at another hotel but this was made clear before we arrived. However. the size of the shower in the bathroom left a lot to be desired. If you are a really large person you won't fit in it - I had to breathe in to get in. The room was serviced every day and the pillow cases were even changed twice (we were there for a week). I thought the breakfast was a little expensive at 13 euros each but after paying 28 euros each for a breakfast nearby we were soon back at the hotel the next morning!

San Lio Bruna Room

I stayed here for 5 days at Bruna room. The room was tiny, but I was there alone and didn't stay inside the room much so it worked out. Next time I'd probably get a bigger room. The bed was ok,the bathroom was tiny and had a stand in shower. The room had a balcony like area which I didn't use much, but opened it for some air circulation. The location was geart!!! Very close to Rialto bridge, water bus, many restaurants and shops. I walked to San Marco almost everyday and walked around to eat and explore the beautiful town. It was hard to find upon arrival, but once I found it, it was very convenient. I'd probably stay here again, but in a different room!

I was not happy it took us one hour and half to find the check in office. I called more than two times the office for direction. My aunt who spoke Italian had to ask directions to the local people. We were fustratred and tired carrying our bags. I wish the hotel will provide better directions and a better map.

Avoid economy room unless you are traveling alone

The best thing about San Lio is the location. Just minutes away from Rialto Bridge, one can easily walk to any part of Venice. Also, please remember that Venice is a walking place.

We had booked the economy room. It was super tiny. The room was old and could see stains on the walls. General housekeeping was decent though. On the first day, the bed cover had heavy stains. They were changed once reported and didn't have any issues. Please note, economy room is good for one person. Though they said the bed is for two people, it is not. Other rooms looked bigger and may be comfortable.

The staff are friendly and helpful.

You will have to go through the unique checking-in process but it is not that difficult.

I stayed here for 4 nights and our room looked exactly like the one pictured. I was happy with the experience. The location is great, but a little noisy so if you need silence to sleep this is not for you. My only complaint is that you have to walk 5 minutes to check in at a different hotel. There is no front desk here so it's not easy to just walk downstairs to check in or out. Also the Wifi is pretty slow

Excellent value for money and perfect location!

This 'hotel' was in a perfect location, not far from Rialto Bridge and the Grande Canal. The room was very clean when we arrived and the daily house keeping did an excellent job. Only 5 minutes walk from St Marcos square. The only thing I would suggest is to make sure you google where to go first or ask the locals. We walked straight passed it as it is just a door on a street, not a hotel.

Cheap and central

Great location, cute setting, yet really clean. I mean it is NOT filthy but somehow very minimum cleanliness is not what you expect. There are dust bunnies at several corners, blankets are obviously used by the previous customers..also the check in process is really cumbersome. The plays has a feel of a hostel rather than a comfortable and relaxed vacation destination. Maybe recommended to folks who are looking for an inexpensive stay at the center of venetian buzz, close to EVERYWHERE.

The room was adequate size for 3 with a lovely modern bathroom and very central for Rialto and St Marks Sq. The room was cleaned every day with clean towels provided daily.

Central to all major attractions and activities.

Local bars and restraints nearby, but only a 15-20 minute walk to almost any city based area, where if you hunt around you will find some better value eateries.

Location great, small, but clean bathroom. Single beds pushed together very hard mattresses, uncomfortable to sleep on. Small fridge with water and nibbles if you wanted. Used to keep our own water cold. Room safe excellent ! Easy to set up and use. Building work / scaffold outside window, could not open outside shutters, if window opened for a little air room would fill with white dust. Missed looking outside into the street. Very noisy at night / early morning! Overall it's the location that sells it!

CONSTRUCTION!!!

The hotel facade was under construction so our tiny room didn't even have a window we could look out which made it feel even smaller. On top of that, the work crew started milling around outside at about 7:30a.m which woke us up and hammering and drilling by 8am. Wish they had let us know in advance because we would have made other arrangements. The bathroom is very tiny. My husband couldn't even close shower doors (he's about 6 feet tall) because the foot print was literally 2' X 2' so the bathroom would be soaked after he showered. Also if you try to use the sink the shower temperature is directly affected to an extreme it seemed. So even using tepid water at the sink made the shower go cold and using cold water made it go too hot. For our stay they turned off the A/C at about 12:30-1:00am and it doesn't come back on until about 6am so I would wake up because it got SO hot in the room. Lastly, they only provide coffee and hot chocolate which was fine, but on our last day the machine still wasn't working by 9am. Not usually a huge thing, but when you are woken up by construction at 7:30am and really want some coffee it's kind of a slap in the face. Other than that, the hotel is in a good location - close to San Marco and right at the Rialto bridge. And though it was small it was nice and set up well (lots of elec outlets, good toiletries, fridge, enough storage space for our stay)

Great location, great stay!

Family of 6 including an 85 year old grandmother and a 2 year old baby stayed here for 3 nights in late August and found the rooms to be spacious, clean, comfortable and in a perfect location - 1 min from Rialto Bridge and 3 min from St. Marks Sq. Only hassle was going around the corner to check in and out but wasn't that big of a deal and hotel had great customer service.

Tiny clean rooms but very close to Rialto

The checkin was weird. We had to talk to the receptionist over Skype which was setup in the hotel entrance and go to another location to get the keys however it was easy to manage it. The hotel was difficult to locate as its a small door on a small busy street with some construction ongoing around the building. Location was close to Rialto which was quite convenient. Room was quite small. the 3rd bed was quite bad with the blanket looked very old with stains and it was arranged in whatever space was available in the room making it cramped. the other bed was clean and good. Room and bathrooms were clean. There were sufficient toiletries and clean towels. Room had an AC which worked well and was required as the weather was quite hot. Noise level is quite high due to lots of restaurants and moving crowd around the hotel. Overall the stay was quite convenient due to its location.

Not quite what we expected

A bit of a hassle to check-in at another location. Also, the hotel had overbooked so we were forced to pay an upgrade fee for their sister hotel on our second night's stay. The sister hotel was much nicer. Larger rooms and air-conditioned.

Simple and comfy

I never saw the e-mail saying that check in was at another hotel, other than that, everything was great. We didn't stay in at all, so can't say much about room service. The room was clean, location was awesome ( short walk from Piazza San Marco). Wi-fi was free and fast. Lots of good restaurants and souvenir shops nearby! We'd definitely stay there again!

Nice and easy

First entered to the hotel by a massive door, once to the 5th floor check in was easy the person there was very helpful. Hotel very central close to transport and shops nice restaurants in local area of a block or 2. Happy with the room it was cleaned everyday and felt very safe. Would reccommend this the hotel for any travelers going to Rome. :)))))))

Absolutely brilliant.. Couldn't fault it... Beautiful and the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Wish there was a huge double bed rather than 2 single pushed together and wished it wAs easier to find. Great stay. Will be back very soon

budget hotel with good location

Pros: good location, clean bathroom; Cons: bedroom and bathroom are too too small, even a single person can't turn easily without knocking anything; wall peeling; air-conditioner not working well thus a bit cold room; good location but difficult to find as it's not shown correctly anywhere including Google map or hotel map; you will need to find the place and go to somewhere else to check in for the key and come back to the first place for the room thus if you have heavy luggage it will be nightmare;

Very Convenient Location

Very good location, owners very helpful and room ample and clean. We had two rooms one triple and a double and were very comfortable, clean and very good value...I would recommend to those that just go to sleep at a hotel and enjoy the city all day and night!

Small tiny double room but close to everything

Where to start... If you're getting the cheapest room then expect a double bed room that should really have been stated as a king single bed, barely any space to walk around in the room but thankfully for decent weathe,r, we could open up the patio doors into a balcony that was half the size of the actual room. Cramped space and thankfully we didn't have too much luggage, little shelf space, teeny tiny shower but clean enough and very central location to explore Venice as all attractions are within walking distance... so if you don't have issues sharing a confined room and don't want to pay an arm and leg for a room in Venice then go for it... would recommend more mirrors (will make room look bigger)!

Great !! - except if I try to sleep

The hotel is wonderful looking, the beds comfortable enough, and the room is very spacious. The directions provided were perfect and the hotel staff were efficient. The problem came when I tried to sleep at night. There is no double glazing on the windows and the walls are as thin as paper. I could hear everything on the street, other guests entering and leaving (whether they were speaking or not) and was constantly woken up by the noise. Honestly, lovely place - but fatal flaw for a hotel. I

Don't believe all you read!!

We were very nervous after reading on trip advisor. It is hard to find but really excellently located. Room was clean and bathroom immaculate! We stayed 2 nights and although there is street noise from our room 104, our friends in room 101 didn't have any. Would stay again but we skipped the breakfast at the other location and used the coffee shop right outside the door which was excellent.

Good location

Room is small, the shower is very small, but at least you are not sharing a bathroom. the small refrigerator is very handy and there is a local coffee shop outside the main door. In Venice, you do not spend much time in your room! Carry your luggage up the first set of stairs, talk to the reception on a monitor screen and follow their directions to the real reception at another location.

Great Location - Very Clean Room

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. This room was just a 5 minute walk from the Realto Bridge towards St Marco Square. They sent us a cool video prior that was very useful. Checkin was a little strange as we were greeted by a man through a video camera from another location. Regardless, it was located in the heart of some of best cafes and bakery's in Venice. One specific was just outside the door. We both could have coffee and a croissant for less than 10 euro and it was awesome. The room had its own bathroom with all the conveniences we would expect in US. The only downsides was the room did not have a view, was very small, and the bed was too firm for my wife. If your looking for an affordable clean room in the heart of Venice. This is it.

Great Location

The San Lio Tourist House is a 5 minute walk form the Rialto Bridge. Lots of restaurants and shops in immediate area. Room was not large, but had a comfortable bed for a great price.

Not that great.

I originally booked this hotel for my first trip to Venice building on location. This didn't make sense in the end as the city is so small I imagine most places could have been a nice location. It was in fact a major drawback in the evening with sufficient noise in the streets. The real drawback was the absurdly small shower. I think you might find something nicer in the price range. We didn't try the breakfast but it didn't look great. So, even considering that we spent very little time in the hotel, the reason for booking something simple, it didn't even meet these basic expectations.

Great Hotel

My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights and loved the area. Not in the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas and subway about a 5 minute walk down the street. doors for our luggage a bit narrow but the hotel itself was larger than most European rooms and the bathroom was a nice size as well. Clean and comfortable room.
