Staff is not so nice, never asked if we were ok in the room, no cooling air conditioner just warming which We think we should have had more than one choices, so we had to open the windows to sleep. We spent two nights in the property and they never cleaned the room. The shower area is very small that I can’t ever wash my hair comfortable. The safe box is super old and no very reliable. Only few international tv channels, a lot of local channels. Not worthy! I would not recommend the property except for being well located.

This is basically a room over the restaurant. It is nice and clean but a little small for 3 people. Check in and out is with the restaurant staff. One issue is that it's not clear who to contact if you have a problem when the restaurant is closed. (For example, the air conditioner kept shutting off at night.) Breakfast is nice, but limited selection and hours.

The room was ok but certainly not 5 stars and was not good value for money. The shower was rubbish and was very week. There was also black mould in the shower cubicle and the air conditioning unit worked intermittently. Central ish location on Venice was its only redeeming feature.

Very close to San Marco square. Busy area. Very close to grocery shopping. The room itself was very good. My only complaint would be the mattress, which was thin and not very comfortable. The restaurant at street level which is part of this hotel or b&b is excellent. Breakfast is really good too. Rolls, jam, cheese, coffee and cake. Brought to your table.

The room was extremely pokey, located above the restaurant. It had no natural light and the two tiny windows opened up onto a stone wall a few feet away. Definitely gave the feeling of claustrophobia.
The room itself was very clean as well as the bathroom which was also very modern.
The breakfast downstairs was very nice though, with honestly the best cappuccino in town! So the restaurant gets two thumbs up!

Hotel is in a great location within the centre of Venice. The room was a good size, clean and modern. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Dined here too on our last night and the food was very good and reasonably priced. Only cons were the room safe was very small and although we were able to leave our luggage (downstairs in the restaurant) once we checked out, it wasn’t overly secure. No issues though an would recommend.

The hotel is located in close proximity to the Rialto and San Marco. You may just walk and you will be there in less than 5 or less. The location of the hotel We would say the best and provides you access to almost every where. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are very welcoming. Rooms are good and u would say above average. The size of the rooms is ideal. The prices are very reasonable. We really loved this hotel. There is a restaurant in ground floor. Only negative I would say is the crowd. This is manly due to location and tourist thoroughfare between Rialto and San Marco.

The only thing I’d say, it was a little like apartment living. But the staff was very helpful, you just have to seek it out in the restaurant.No concierge to tell you where to go, so it is recommended to get a great guide book, like, lonely planet discovering Italy. We were given directions to the hotel, which was very helpful! However, we weren’t given instructions on how to check in - which we found confusing. We popped into the restaurant and one of the staff members showed us upstairs to our room. They asked to see our passports for check in, but we didn’t expect they would take them and keep them during our stay. The room was okay. It was clean, and there was AC which was good. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows quite flat. The bathroom was very tight - not a lot of space to move around. We didn’t get a chance to try the food/complimentary breakfast as it was only between the hours of 9-1030 (we had a pre-booked tour for 930, and were told we couldn’t have breakfast before). It was okay for a one night stay.

The hotel room itself was fairly nice. But the room was terribly noisy because of construction workers and also the restaurant directly below (with whom you check in with). I found the bed to be very uncomfortable. It's in a nice area, but I would definitely stay elsewhere next time.

Reasonable hotel near St Mark square & doge palace
Room is a little old but clean and bed is comfortable. Not much sound proof and wifi is slow. Shower cubicle is small. Best not to lug big luggages as there’s no lift. The restaurant serves really nice pasta at pretty reasonable price. There’s a guy who speaks very good English, and we thank him for proving the navigation to the hotel the day before the check in.

We stayed for four nights while exploring Venice. The hotel is on one of the main paths between the Rialto Bridge and St Mark's Square. It is more of a restaurant with rooms but there is a separate access for guests. Breakfast is bread and cakes, tea/coffee and orange juice. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The lady running the restaurant/rooms was helpful and there is an option to store bags before and after checkout.

The location of this \"hotel\" is great! 3 mins walk from the Rialto Bridge, shopping, restaurants, a supermarket is nearby, and a quick walk to St Mark's square etc. I say \"hotel\" in quotes because I felt it was more like a hostel/ air B&B. Our room was spacious; accommodating 1 queen bed, and two other beds, the bathroom is big enough for one person to get dress in there, the showers are small but that is expected in European places (unless you're paying $$$). Our room was facing the streets so when the windows were open, it does get slightly noisy during the day and night. TV was working, there was a mini fridge, NO coffee maker or electric kettle (safety reasons perhaps?).
Friendly reminder there are no elevators (expected in Europe) so its a short flight of stairs to get in and out of the hotel (Security: pretty good- you will know why if you book with them). We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room & the facilities (they changed our towels even if we stayed only 2 nights). It's like a home-away-home since you have your own keys. What we loved the most about this hotel was that it was so central! You can take the watebus and get off right at the Rialto bridge, then it's about a 3 minute walk to the hotel. Not exactly a quiet place to stay, but then you are so central and right above a restaurant we knew that is wasn't going to be quiet and brought along a white noise maker with us which greatly helped. We chose this place because of the location, and really you could walk everywhere in Venice. Staff was friendly, they let us drop our bags off before check in which was so wonderful.

The hotel is in an excellent location. The word hotel is a loose term - it's a room with an bathroom suite on the upper level of a restaurant. It's clean, spacious and safe. The staff are friendly and helpful, but you need to use the free WiFi to arrange trips etc, as the staff are unfamiliar with these requests as there is no reception desk. It would be helpful to have information cards in the room for operating the air con, as we had to ask for some help! The room itself and location is faultless. Venice is amazing and we would stay here again.

This is a cute, very small, budget hotel. It was not the B&B we had expected or experienced at many other places. We stayed 3 nights. The down stairs is updated however the service was lacking. Greeted briefly, no maps or orientation. Staff was short and had no recommendations for restaurants or how to get to any places we asked. The bed was a old spring bed with lumps and as hard as a rock. Horrible back aches. The shower was 18\" wide, so if you are woman 5'3\" and smaller than a size 8 then you will fit. There was not room for 2 people to get ready in the bathroom. They placed our old towels back up on the racks daily from off the floor, and didn't refresh them with clean ones. Disgusting. They didn't clean the room or empty the trash. No refills of toilet paper. No water or mini bar available, they wanted to charge us $4 a bottle of water from downstairs. Breakfast was limited to strict times between 9-1030. Which rarely worked out with tours etc.. They also had no coffee or tea in room. Felt like a private hostel room and not a quaint B&B.

What a wonderful stay
I stayed in triple room. Room was very clean and spacious. Bathroom was clean and everything was in working order. House cleaning service was prompt and courteous. AC was working fine and WIFI was working as well. Hotel is in the middle of the city and many attractions are nearby. Breakfast was awesome. They service cappuccino and it was one of the best I tasted in Venice. They have full service restaurant on the ground floor. I would definitely would stay here again when in Venice.

Taverna was awesome. Kept our suitcases until room was ready and even carried them up to the room for us. The breakfast was 9-10:30 and was absolutely delicious. B&B style.

Our hotel which was more like a B&B was 12 minutes or less to all the great hot spots this city has... 5 minutes to Realto Bridge. 8 minutes to St Marks Square. 12 minutes to the central train station. And the most amazing restaurants we found anywhere in Italy.

Small hotel near Rialto Bridge
My husband and I just stayed overnight for a spontaneous visit to Venice. The location is excellent -- 5 minute walk from Rialto Bridge, Piazza San Marco, lots of shopping and dining. We didn't have specific directions to the hotel and had a difficult time finding it among the crowded, narrow streets, so I would suggest having specific walking directions to the hotel before you go. Also, be aware that there is no elevator and 1 full flight of steps to reach the rooms.

The rooms are on top the restaurant they are very nice for a a short stay. Hotel is right off the water taxi and main street for all sightseeing. Breakfast was good, service excellent and the lady that owns it was super friendly and helpful.only suggestion would be hard to find in dark if u have next been there before as streets are small and confusing but that is how venice is! I would definitely stay there again.

This room was extremely noisy, it is directly above a restaurant and alleyways of a busy area. The room was extremely hot and air conditioning did not work, opened the windows and were completely attacked by mosquitoes. Owner was not very accommodating when we asked about A/C. I had already paid for the three nights, and we actually left after two and paid for a second hotel to get out of there. The continental breakfast included is nothing, bread and a pastry and coffee, nothing else. Would not recommend this at all.

We were in Venice for 3 nights. The Taverna was very close to Rialto Bridge and vaporetto stop so very convenient. Lively area with lots of shops and eating places. The issue I had was the staff is not attentive and seems more focused on running the restaurant below vs. tending to hotel guest needs. For example, they don't help arrange for porter service or even offer how to find it, they don't offer if you would like a electric pot to heat warmer or coffee maker. When I went to ask a question, I had to go to the restaurant and get told they only had a couple of minutes because they had to tend to restaurant customers.

This hotel is actually a B&BB that offers four rooms with private baths. The room is clean but small with a bed and some chairs but no sofa. The bath was tight and the shower was very small yet useable. The breakfast that was included was served in the restaraunt below and consisted of orange juice, small rolls, jam, butter, a slice of pastry and tea/coffee. This was served each day yet was sufficient to get you on your way. The Tavera restaurant below served excellent food and the staff were great. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay and the location was great very close to Rialto Bridge and in the heart of the shopping area. As Venice does not allow vehicles, the crowds in the narrow streets in the area were fairly large but manageable.

A great place to stay in Venice metropolitan city.
I found this place online but we understood that it was a very nice place to stay. It is very convenient place. 8-10 minutes walk for public transport service in Rialto. 5 minutes walk to St. Marks square. There is a nice restaurant in ground floor and nice complimentary breakfast is offered. we had a dinner too, food was very nice. Hotel staff members were very kind and helpful.

Location is awesome. Close to st. Marco square and overall about 10 to 15 min walk to all the attentions. The breakfast was small, 2 rolls and a muffin with a coffe or tea. The stuff was very nice and spoke English well. Keep in mind this is a restaurant with rooms on top of it. So there is no reception desk. You have to go to the restaurant to get the keys. But overall I enjoyed my stay and I would come back here again.

I can't say enough good things about Taverna San Lio, where I have stayed a couple of times now. The staff are absolutely fantastic - incredibly kind, welcoming, helpful. The breakfasts are absolutely delicious, the location of the hotel is central, the wifi is fast and strong, the rooms are simple but very well-kept and everything works, and the price is very reasonable. I had an early departure on my final morning, and without my even asking they put together a delicious takeaway breakfast for me and left it in my room. This place is wonderful.

Quirky Place to Stay
We had never been to Venice & wanted an affordable place in a central location within walking distance of San Marco Square & the Grand Canal. This fit the bill pretty well from both a price and location perspective We did find that getting around in Venice was very challenging and spent way too much time getting lost!! But, by the time we checked out, we had seen a lot more of Venice neighborhoods than we had anticipated.

OK for people who do not need any hotel service
This room is in an excellent location. My only caution to travelers would be that it is not a hotel and this type of accommodation is for independent travelers who do not need help from hotel staff. It appears there are 4 rooms and the main focus of the business is the restaurant. The morning breakfast is from 9-10:30 and is nice, but the timing is not always good if you plan an early start. Also, it can be very noisy until about an hour after the restaurant closes around 11:30pm. It was not noisy every night, but some nights it was noisy and it prevented me from falling asleep.

Very small room and old, like many other facilities in the island. Aircon only works with limited time. Decent breakfast with bread, cakes (??), orange juice and coffee. It is on top of the restaurant Taverna San Lio. Worth the money for a decent place to sleep.

Beware of the dump -- serious ripoff
Serious misrepresentations of this place on this site and all over. This is not a hotel or inn or B&B. It is 4 rooms in a dumpy building over a restaurant. When you enter the door to the entrance stairway, you see a run-down setting -- peeling paint on the walls, a hole in the wall overflowing with garbage, aged and pitted floor. This is a serious ripoff.

Loved the location, from being centrally located and easy walk from Rialto Bridge and San Marco. However, it was very hot in our room and no ceiling fan. So, we had to open the windows. This made it very noisy with street traffic to try and sleep except between 2-5am. Also, both mattress and pillows were flat and uncomfortable. Room size was fine, as was bathroom. Great staff, very nice. Would be okay if you're on a budget or heavy sleeper

Great Location!
Nice B&B with private bath and freshly baked rolls hot from the oven with juice, coffee or cocoa each morning. VERY convenient to all the sights in Venice! The email provided when we reserved our room made it easy to find the hotel on our arrival. Hosts were friendly and the hostess spoke very good English so it was easy to communicate. Room was up one flight of stairs with no elevator, but the host carried my bag up and it really wasn't a problem. Would definitely recommend to family and friends and would love to stay there again on our next trip!

Taverna San Lio is in a perfect central location
Our stay at Taverna San Leo was wonderful. Veronica and Demitri were so very helpful and sensitive to anything we needed......advice on sights, shopping, directions. The rooms are located above their restaurant (also a terrific place to dine). They serve a delicious continental breakfast in their restaurant as part of your stay.

Location, location...
This is several rooms on the first floor above a restaurant. Above the rooms are private apartments. So it was an interesting place. We had keys to the private entrance ...felt like we lived there. Our landlord was the restaurant downstairs. The room was clean and comfortable with an ensuite bathroom. The location was great...steps to the Rialto Bridge and just a little farther to St. mark's Piazza.

Convenient location to Rialto Bridge
The room was comfortable and contained a compact bathroom with a shower. Being located above a restaurant made for a little noise during the day when the windows were open. During the night, however, the street turned quiet. Air conditioning made the room comfortable for sleeping. Breakfast included fresh orange juice, coffee, bread with jams and a fresh plum breakfast cake, which was delicious.

Great B&B situation, good location
The people in the restaurant below run this place. It was great. Literally a 5 minute walk from the Grand Canal. Room was spacious and clean. AC worked silently and efficiently. Only had two days there but would definitely go back and not hesitate to send any of my friends.

Very nice
I absolutely loved the room, not only it was clean, but huge. Wifi was fast. They run a restaurant at the ground floor- but I never really tried the food. Quite close to Rialto water taxi station- so we had many choices of taxis to get to the railway station. The lady in charge was so sweet, she packed us some cakes and drinks the night before since we were checking out very early in the morning-had to miss their breakfast service. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Awesome place
We loved this place! The rooms are above the tavern and you check in at the restaurant. Our room was spacious and overlooked the busy street below. The wifi, air-conditioning and hair dryer all worked. The location is right between the Rialto and San Marco so we could go back to it through the day to rest, drop off purchases, and change. Super convenient. We had our own keys and could just come and go as we wished. Veronica was so helpful and kind. Definitely would go back.

We stayed at the Taverna San Lio at the end of June for three nights. The main consideration for choosing the hotels was it's central location, and proximity to the main sights - we were not to be disappointed.
The positives:
The hotel is really conveniently located. No more than 3-4 minutes walk to the Rialto Bridge, and no more than 8-10 minutes to Piazza San Marco. The street in which the hotel itself is somewhat of a thoroughfare between the two so is easily located.
Breakfast was of a good standard. Typical continental fare, with good coffee/tea and fresh bread and cake. If you wanted something more than that, you will be disappointed, but this is Italy, not the US, so I would say don't expect full plates of a morning.
The proprietors of the hotel were very pleasant and friendly. The lady who appeared to own the place was always around, and always smiling!
The room itself was very large, especially for Italian standards. There was plenty of storage, and the air con was efficient and quiet.
The bathroom was quite nice, the shower was decent, and was also a reasonable size.

Fantastic service, great food
It was the best choice. They took care of us really well. When we needed to leave early for Verona day trip they packed our breakfast to take with us. Really warm and friendly, absolutely delicious food which was not costly at all considering other mediocre places. A gem of place right in Rialto bridge area with a lot of local hidden gems like Alfredos for pasta lunch, Suso for out of the world gelatos . Strongly recommend if you want great service. Very few rooms , makes you feel you get personalised care.

Very large room for European standards. Good windows shut off the noise from outside. Very friendly staff. Continental breakfast is not adequate for most people and, because is served in restaurant below, starts at 9 AM. This is late if you want to start early and avoid huge crowds at places as San Marco etc.

Hotel service and staff was great. They were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and spacious. Location was good, about a 5 minute walk with luggage from the Rialto Bridge boat stop and a short walk to everything. As for the surrounding neighborhood….it’s Venice, everything was beautiful and picturesque. Breakfast was the normal Continental style bread, marmalade and coffee but without issue, they went out of their way to prepare eggs for my wife and I. We are very appreciative of that. To be honest, I had only two complaints which are easy fixes. The room door would rattle and startle the wife every time someone opened their room door or the stairway door (a foam seal would stop that) and the bed would creak real loud every time one of us would move. Other than that, it was a great stay.

Great Location, Great Value
Taverna San Lio is not even 5 minutes walking from Rialto Bridge with its restaurant on the ground level (and Inishark Pub is just around the corner if you're looking for a later night). The hostess was very kind and helpful from the time we booked until the time we checked-out. Breakfast included coffee, juice, bread with jams and a muffin (I believe this is typical in Italy). If you're expecting to be waited on hand and foot during your stay, this is not the place for you as it is very private and quiet. We very much enjoyed our stay at Taverna San Lio and in Venice!

A Hidden Jewel in Venice!
This place was absolutely amazing! It is just a four room motel, but hidden away from the busy streets of Venice, and above a wonderful place to eat. The staff was so friendly and even left a birthday message for us. We had to leave very early in the morning, to catch a flight, and they put together a small meal to take with us to the airport. I can not recommend this hotel enough. I will definitely stay here next time I go to Venice!

Great B&B in a Perfect Location
The hotel staff was very friendly, and although the room and furniture were not new or fancy, the hotel was perfectly clean and very well maintained, especially the bathroom. It was about 5 mins walking to Rialto Bridge, and maybe 7 to San Marco, where you can easily pick up a Vaporetto to anywhere. There are tons of shops and restaurants on the same street and nearby, and we felt perfectly safe here even late at night. The restaurant downstairs was very nice as well, which is where you have to check in as there is no desk. About the only downside was no lift, but this was really no problem at all, since the rooms are only up 1 floor. Overall very good value, and we would definitely stay here again.
