Great, quiet location, unless your room is next to the canal, where you might hear boats passing by late at night. But honestly, that’s part of the Venice charm. The hotel used to be a convent, and it has a lot of character. Be prepared for some stairs, but there’s a handy back door for a quick shortcut. Overall, we loved our stay, one of the more affordable places we found. Plus, the breakfast was excellent!

A spotless and well run hotel with charming helpful staff. A magnificent breakfast served each day with optional scrambled egg and bacon cooked to order. Lots of pastries, fresh fruit, selection of yoghurts, sweet and savoury snacks and bread selection.
We managed to get lost finding hotel most days - thank goodness for phones but en route from Rialto found lots of little shops, bridges coffee bars and boats. A daily adventure.

Nice, traditional hotel on a quiet square just a few mins walk from the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal so a really good location. Easy to find, get the water bus/taxi to Rialto and walk from there. Comfortable room (not quite as gorgeous as the photos) but had a good bed, a nice bathroom and a lovely bakery across the road. And you're in Venice :-)

When reach in hotel reception we asked do have lift and receptionist said we don't have lift but lateron we found there is lift. First floor Rooms located for us lots stairs need to climbs with suitcases. I have knee problem and ny is also have clibming problem. One there is bad mattress and aircon did work properly. We booked classic rooms but they located for us bad than standard rooms. When asked those are not good and exchange room. Both rooms exchange again there is no central aircon, furnitures looks like 100 years old and walking shower is not good. Aircon fixed in wall and wall is not tidy and dust smelling. My self got Asthma and my wife is having lung disease. Kitchen and dinning areas on the rooms way. Early morning staffs making noise. Break fast is very bad. Staffs is face looks like rude and never smile. I have been lots holidays in Europe but never had this type bad experience. Expida needs to review this hotel.

The Santa Marina is a classic Venice hotel, elegant and authentic. We enjoyed their private terrace for coffee. The location is good for nearby shops, restaurants and bars, however, many steps to negotiate if you have luggage & are utilizing the water bus system.

I stay in a lot of hotels. This is by far my favourite. It’s just beautiful. The staff are excellent, the rooms are perfect, exceptionally clean and the rainfall shower is the best i have seen. The location is perfect. Less than 5 minutes from Rialto but it is very quiet at night.

Terrible! Hotel is dirty and has BED BUGS. Enough said. Nothing else matters regarding location if the hotel is dirty. I reached out to hotels.com and they did nothing for me in regards to compensation of any kind. The hotel would not compensate me either. I was asked why I did not tell them during my stay. Well, I only stayed two nights and it wasn’t until the day I left I noticed my legs and my partners legs were bit up. I felt the itching through the night but did not think much of it. The stress this caused the next few days while vacationing in Italy ruined the trip. On top of it I am pregnant and am horrified how much anxiety this brought on. Front desk was not friendly and AC does not work at all, which is another complaint many guests had.

There is nothing we could fault about this hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean and every member of staff was pleasant, helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent too with a very good selection. We would definitely go back and highly recommend to anyone visiting Venice.

Although word of warning, canal views are great however can be quite loud in the morning or at night, we overlooked the service dock or where they got deliveries so was quite loud. We booked the hotel in advance. Two days before, I had a text from my bank saying that someone in Italy was trying to use my card so we were wary. A few hours later, I had message from the hotel in Italian that I could not read. After getting it translated it was about payment. I messaged Santa Marina back to say that is fine, I will tell my bank to accept payment. I did not hear back from them. I also had two missed calls from an Italian number which I tried to look and compare with hotel numbers but none matched. They called for a split second, not enough time to answer. Anyway it was time to go to Hotel Santa Marina. We got there, the staff did not even say hello, they just look at you. They told me they gave my room away, despite messaging them back. I also found out the calls were from them, who did not give me enough time to answer or call me on the number matching the hotel. They said we have a spare room still so I shrugged it off, so we made sure payment went through and we were shown to our change of room. We got taken to a building outside of hotel. This room was not great. It did not feel safe as the room was not in hotel and old lock thinking someone could break in. It smelt damp like no one had been there for ages and material was stapled to wall falling off. Next morning we had breakfast, inside the hotel was much nicer than our room, the noise every morning was awful starting before 7am where the room was next to a delivery area. The bed was uncomfortable too.

We have stayed at this property several times over the years. This time the room was not clean. The breakfast was sub par: machine coffee, only cold milk available, cold packaged pastries. Even though the staff was very pleasant, this hotel was very disappointing. We will not return.

Perfect base for exploring Venice, Really welcoming hotel, with clean and comfortable rooms. On arrival and being showed to our room, we were a little worried as the porter took us up and down and around various stairs and corridors, bit we need not have any concern as our room had a side door entrance straight out onto the street. Little extras such as complimentary slippers just added to the overall stay.

The hotel is hard to find from any of the water boat stops, I didn’t care for the decor, it seems old and in need of a makeover. The breakfast is awful, same food everyday, lots of cookies for breakfast, they have a machine that makes small pancakes and another machine that makes disgusting eggs. They did have cheese, and cold cuts, croissants and toast. They have a coffee, cappuccino machine. The staff is not friendly. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. On a positive note there is a bakery and grocery store across the courtyard. Small rooms with very few plugs. Good size bathroom horrible shower.
