Hotel is a jewel that’s hard to find, but once there great location. Property runs pretty much staff less. Bathroom extremely small with no space to put toiletries. Miniature shower with half door (flooded )

Tiny room. A/C did not work. We slept with the windows open which let mosquitoes in.
I don’t know what pictures they used on the internet because it was nothing like the photos whatsoever. There were stairs to the bathroom so getting up in the middle of the night was extremely dangerous. Thank goodness we checked in at 5pm and left at 7am the next morning so we weren’t even there 24 hours.

We had a seven day trip to Venice and stayed in a different hotel each night, this was my son‘s favorite.
I agree, this was a fantastic location and beautiful accommodations. My favorite part about this location was the organic CSA right around the corner to get some fresh fruit and vegetables to counter eating out so much. Picture of hours for the CSA a block away. Called Farm.

Had to book last minute since our other hotel canceled 2 days before we arrived. The room itself was great, bed was comfortable and clean. However. the bathroom was very challenging. The toilet lid had half of it missing. Zero counter space or storage to even set something down when using the sink. Shower had no shelves to hold soap and the shower head was not attached to wall. Had to hold the shower head while washing. Door also did not slide closed all the way. When we checked in around 6pm, there was no one at the counter and they left a code on the front gate for us to enter and the key was left on the desk. No attendant was there to check we were the names on the reservation.

If at all possible, find a new hotel! We paid over $300 a night for a room that was shabby, no facilities, totally lame breakfast, broken air conditioner which the staff was well aware of and when we opened the windows we got eaten alive by mosquitos. I wish I had looked at the reviews instead of the hotel description. Oh…there was a pot for heating water but no coffee. When I requested coffee I was told they only had tea.

Our bed was broken and garbage was piled up outside our only window. They said they had another room but would not let us switch or refund us because it was past the refund deadline, but how were we supposed to know the condition of the room? They did not reach out to tell us… the manager we spoke to about the situation was incredibly rude and did not care…

Good luck finding it because the signage to find it is non existent. I recommend Apple Maps over Google Maps, as Google will take you to the wrong place in general, Apple at least puts you in the right area. You have AC but it doesn’t work. You have a bed but the sheets are filthy. You have a shower but it’s full of mold. You have a floor that’s full of dirt. This room was so dirty and so uncomfortably hot that we left after being in it for just 4 hours and found another place to stay in.

Well that was regrettable.

I jus dropped the best part of £1,000 on a supposedly luxury week's stay in Venice and EVERYTHING went wrong.

I alighted at the airport and boarded the water bus - so far so good. But then things went awry. Following the directions stipulated by the hotel, I was soon lost. Getting dark, I was adopted by some good samaritans, who had never heard of the hotel. After 5 hours of slogging all over Venice, I found my way - finally - to the hotel, basically a door in the wall in a back alley with a small sign. I wondered in and found the reception, unmanned, with my key waiting and a letter saying welcome. OK, odd, but, what the hey. Problem - where is my room? Turns out I was in an annex, separate from the main hotel. Again, no biggie, just strange. Got access to my room and my spirits fell.

Talk about basic. I had two rooms - a living room and a bedroom. The living room sported a table and chairs, all garden furniture. There was a sink, a hob (grimy, missing hob caps), some cabinets (filthy) and a black sofa that ate you. One very small window and cruddy lighting, with the bulbs hanging loose from the ceiling. I'm sorry, it was disgusting. Contained a toilet unit with doors that didn't close properly.

Enter the bedroom. One double bed, one single. I accidentally bashed the single with my shin, and it collapsed. Weird right? Three lights - a neon wall light and two bed lamps, one bust. Beds had the most Godawful mattresses, hard as bricks. Single shee

Pros- it’s walkable to main attractions. 15 mins walk at most
Cons- the property is not as per advertised. The photos looked so different than the actual property.
There was barely any amenities. So bring your own shampoo and soaps.
The breakfast was horrendous. So skip it. Not worth the money.

My mistake was that I didn't check the reviews about this property at the time i booked. Except friendly staff the rest was a nightmere, from finding the address that nobody knew where it was and even 2 times i got help from local people to call the property about tge address, the person who answered was neither good in Italian nor in English. Pictures are deceiving, bathrooms extremely dirty, tiolet seats broken, kitchenet in the room was only a decor, not working, no fridge, old smell in the room. The only positive thig was the AC was working properly. Will never come back to this property again.

Firstly, I would like to point out that the photos that you see of this hotel on Expedia are NOTHING like the room we stayed in. Room number 24 was the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. There is barely any light in the room with only 2 windows that are tiny and are situated just under the ceiling. I had to open these to get rid of the lingering damp smell that engulfed the room. This may have come from the leaking air conditioner unit in which the staff had placed a bucket underneath to catch the constant drips of water. In addition to this, the TV did not get a signal and the toilet seat was stained a yellowy brown. In my opinion, this is unacceptable as a new toilet seat would probably cost no more than 20 euros and not take long to install.

The location of the hotel is very difficult to find, not the hotel's fault as google maps told us to go over the water, but maybe the hotel could provide a guide as to how to find it, as you do have to go down some very narrow and secluded alleyways. When we arrived at about 2.30pm we were told our room was not ready for another 40 minutes. We decided to go exploring and left our luggage with the receptionist, who said it would be safe to leave it there. When we returned the reception was closed (check in closes 3pm) and the key to our room left on the desk and our luggage left unattended. Anybody could have stolen our bags. The check in system is not secure. Thank goodness we only stayed one night and will never return.

Plus - Good location, walking distance from the train station and under 5 min to Vaporetto station.

Minus - Room not even close to the pictures. Not a problem for us since we spent most of our time outside.
Two safes in the room but one not functioning and the other so small (and not secured) that it could be taken away. There was a small fridge but not working. A/C working but you could not control it.
Breakfast - not much, no choice. Very poorly organized: started later and took almost an hour. Waste of money and time.

Absolute Scam

We booked the listed hotel and were excited about the upcoming stay. The rooms looked nice, airy, modern and clean.
Approximately 2h before check in we received an email from the hotel, saying we might have to be transferred to a different hotel but “same standards” as the booked one.
We arrived at the booked hotel, which was closed, and allegedly (a neighbor told us) had been closed for weeks.
So we grabbed our bags and walked over to the other hotel, where we’ve been transferred. The receptionist at the second hotel was very nice, can’t say anything bad about her. BUT the rooms were a disaster. Hairs in the bed, moldy AC, smelled like a swimming pool inside, furniture was broken, beds were rock hard but springs were poking through. NOT what we had booked. On top we found out, the second hotel was only half the price per night, than the one we booked. But they charged us the full price for the other hotel.
Super disappointed, had to book a different hotel that night because we couldn’t stay there at all. Do not recommend. We contacted VRBO, but haven’t heard back yet.

Our stay at Al Canal Regio was alright. The check-in was smooth and easy to follow. The location was in a nice, more local corner, of Venice. The room was much smaller than the photos made it out to be. It didn't feel like the room was well thought out, in terms of design. For example, we had to plug in/leave the kettle under the desk to make tea. Some things in the bathroom were broken. The bed was hard and we had to put the duvet under us to make it more comfortable. Overall, it was fine. But not as nice as we were expecting, so we were a little disappointed.

The hotel is in a great location. Easy to find. It’s take about 10/15 minutes to get there from the main train station and st marks square is 15/20 minutes walk. The hotel room was a decent size. The room looked nothing like in any of the pictures, advertised on hotels.com. We were put in a separate bit to the hotel. Room had bad damp marks all over the ceilings and runs down the walls. Room was very dark needed better light. Our room was on a little square anyone could see in so we had to keep the curtains closed. Few minor maintenance things need attending to in the room. We did tell the cleaner but nothing was done. Would have much rather stayed in the main hotel!!!

We had a pile of dirty towels that they had taken out and since they didn’t have anymore towels the lady took a first towel from the hallway and refilled it in our bathroom. The property was situated in a lovely part of Venice, 20 minutes away from most of the popular attractions, we had an amazing view from our window and the staff we're constantly friendly, making you feel very safe and at home. My only complaint would be the person in our neighbouring room; they we're very angry, to the point that we couldn't speak in our room after 9/10pm because they would start banging on the walls and shouting. This could be a problem with thin walls or just a rare instance with an angry guest. Overall, it was an amazing experience despite the difficult neighbours

The location and hotel were nicely designed but the one twin beds springs were literally pushing through the entire bed so one night I had to sleep on that which was horrible then the next night they put a new mattress but that ironically wasn't much better. Great stay at Al Canal Regio. Location is superb, warm welcome and good service received. Room was decent and I loved the view directly onto the canal.

A few small maintenance works to the room would have made this a perfect stay. I'd suggest that the cracked toilet seat is replaced and a shower riser pole is added.

I'll be recommending this hotel and would be keen to return if back in Venice.

Very good hotel within walking distance of the Rialto bridge, grand canal, vaparettos, shopping, dining. Our room had a couple of steps in the bathroom which may be a concern to some. I'm not sure if other rooms have the same set up, but if this is a concern, it would be worth asking before booking as we did enjoy the hotel and the nice staff. There is a narrow area to walk through to get to the hotel, but we felt quite safe.

On entering the room it was unfinished. It had 2 showers but one of them in the bedroom did not have any tapware or screen. Kitchen sink did not have a tap. No coffee available on 1st day. Shower drain was blocked resulting in water overflowing into next room a bit - was fixed after I inforned the staff membet. Ran out of hot water after a few minutes of showering. Toilet seat was either broken or not installed well. Coffee cups supplied were disposable plastic type - first time I've seen this - should be ceramic.

Accommadation in great location

Myself and my partner had a lovely stay in our accommadation. The hotel is in a very good location from the main tourist attractions and was within 15 minute walking distance from Venice St Lucia train station and the airport river bus stop. Lots of restaurants surrounding. Room was very comfortable everything you could need making it perfect for both long and short breaks. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Avoid this hotel!

After an hour of searching, eventually we found the hotel (do not follow the online map provided - it is not correct and we had to ask another hotel for directions). The Reception Manager met us and swiftly informed us that there was a \"big problem\" with our room and that we could not stay there. He had booked a room for us at their sister hotel, located near the Rialto Bridge, and offered complimentary breakfast as an apology. So we set off again with our suitcases and after another 20 minutes, found the next hotel down a dark alley, near to the bridge. We checked in immediately and were given the key to Room 1 - their \"Superior room\". Apparently.
The room was awful - dark, cluttered, paint flaking from the ceiling, noisy and not very clean. We had one lamp that did not plug into anywhere and the bathroom was very cramped. We asked to speak to the manager on several occasions, being told they would be there later that day - they never appeared. The breakfast was poor - good job we didn't pay for it as I would have been even more annoyed.
If it wasn't for the fact that my boyfriend proposed the day before we left, I would have much less happy memories of Venice. It certainly won't be the hotel for our honeymoon!
I welcome a response from hotels.com or the hotel directly for what was a truly dreadful stay.

The room very deceiving nothing like the pictures. It was dark and had very poor lighting. It was dusty and had webs. There was no fire exit. The bathroom was very small. The toilet seat was stained and cracked. The shower only had a dark curtain in your face and if you turnedyou would hit your elbow against the wall. All corners had dust and dirt. On arrival the city tax is charged but you et no receipt. Not worth it for the money, at lest breakfast could have been included.

I was disappointed at the room. The bed was not comfortable it only had a sheet on the mattress and a brown (don't no what you call it, it is not a blanket just a small throw) the throw was for decoration. The picture on the tablet makes it look great. The bathroom the bath and show are run down, but clean. There towel rack that were broken and toilet paper roll was also broken. For the price I excepted a little better. Would not stay in hotel. If you want tight budget stay maybe you would like it. The front desk person was very nice, helpful and polite.

Quite location

Central to everything and tucked away from the hustle and bustle however, could be hard to find for the first time.
Be sure to catch a ferry when arriving as it could be cheaper than a trolley porter from the bus terminal, 40€!!
The rooms were nice, clean and compact, The breakfast area is also cosy and don't expect too much for your 10€ pp. overall a pleasant boutique style hotel and would stay there again!

Chic hotel for an evening

On the spur of the moment we added a night in Venice to our travels and found Al Canal Regio to be the perfect place to stay. This is an easy walk from the Santa Lucia Train Station, and offered just the right amenities. We got into the city after hours, but they were very accommodating to allow for a late check-in. We very much appreciated the cleanliness and price. Our room even had a nice little patio area that would have been utilized more for a longer stay. We loved that it was off the beaten path just enough, yet we felt safe in that area.

The room was very nice, the staff was helpful. View from the room was exceptional, it was onlong side the canal so we saw the boats drive by. The downside was the difficulty in locating the hotel. Had to ask 4 different people how to get there. Breakfast was not included which was a bit inconvenient but overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We were given a free upgraded as the hotel had to close for two of the four days we booked. We were upgraded at Al canal Regio to a deluxe room with a lovely view. The staff were very friendly. Although the latter part of our stay at their sister hotel wasn't as great (even though we were upgraded there too). We would have preferred a standard room at Al canal Regio over a superior room at their sister hotel. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay :). The staff member Marco made our stay enjoyable.

Hotel staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We were given a map with clear direction to certain things to see and do. The staff helped us make the most of our short stay by telling us what we might enjoy based off of our personal interests. The beds were not very comfortable but the room was beautiful and very clean. Hard to find the hotel but everything in venice can be hard to find unless you have GPS or a good map.

SURPRISE - BIG MISTAKE ON THIS HOTEL!

We prepaid for this more expensive hotel because it was away from the crowded, noisy sections of Venice and looked luxurious. The photos on Hotels.com made this hotel seem to have big beautiful rooms and lovely decor, some having views over the canals. I also thought a more expensive hotel such as this would have a good concierge service that would be helpful so we could get to places we wanted to see during our short stay in Venice, without wasting time or getting lost. BIG surprise and BIG Mistake on all points above. Of our three week vacation, it was the smallest, most plain and undecorated room we had. We could hardly move around past each other at the same time. For spending $200 per night, it was not luxurious in any way. It was just a BASIC room with one small window looking at the side of a building. The one male manager and staff member on duty was unhelpful much to our dismay and we had been depending on the hotel staff for suggestions to get to things we needed while there. He was mostly out of sight in a back room while we were coming and going and seemed bored with no suggestions or knowledge to help us at all. There are no elevators in the hotel for getting luggage to upper rooms, so you carry it yourself. Both days we stayed there we had to walk through a small garbage dump space with garbage strewn on our path next to the canal to get to the hotel's entrance. The room had a window air conditioner but it barely worked while we had 95 degree weather.

This is our second stay at the hotel and, while it can't boast fine views or a beautiful setting, it is conveniently located for easy access to the airport, has a number of very good restaurants close by, and is within easy walking distance of both the touristy parts of Venice and the less well-visited areas. Being off the beaten track, the hotel is lovely and quiet. Some may find the lack of on-site staff after 8 p.m. off-putting, but it is made clear how to gain entry after hours, and how to make contact with staff at a neighbouring hotel, and we did not experience any difficulty in this regard. Some rooms are extremely small and there is not a lot of storage space if you are planning a stay of more than a few days, but rooms are very clean and beds comfortable. Bathrooms are spotless and modern. Beware that some rooms have bathrooms that are up steps, which could be hazardous and would be difficult for anyone with mobility problems. Would hesitate to recommend to someone with small children. Overall, this is a thoroughly decent hotel with good prices and friendly, helpful staff.

Great Experience

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Canal Grande for 3 nights in February 2012. Our room was very comfortable and attractive. The desk staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is an easy 20 to 25 minute walk from St. Mark's square, or you can take the vaporetto from a stop which is about 2 blocks away. It is hard to image that you could find a better 4 star hotel.

Difícil encontrar el hotel, está en un callejón feo para llegar. Pudimos hacer el checking porque llegamos antes de las 15 hs luego no hay nadie. Escuchamos gritos de una persona porque no le habían dejado la llave.
Da un poco de miedo el lugar. No queda cómodo.

Personnel sympathique, mais qui nous a arnaqué avec la taxe imposée par Venise (nous a demandé 10 euros en plus, et nous n’avons eu aucun justificatif en retour), donc faites le par vous même par internet !
Première chambre superbe, mais au bout de 2h, il y avait une fuite d’eau, donc nous avons eu une nouvelle chambre. Moins bien, Clim bruyante (même éteinte). Nous n’avons pas bien dormi.
