Hotel Al Ponte Antico was outstanding. The service by all of the staff and owners was first rate. It was like staying with family friends. The hotel is perfectly located just 5 minutes walk from everything in Venice. We picked the hotel for the bar and breakfast room and we were so impressed. Our stay was like having a palace all to ourselves with assistance from the most passionate hosts you will ever meet in the hospitality industry. We highly recommend the hotel. The balcony over looking the Rialto Bridge and Grand Canal was truly fabulous.

You should stay here. We have never been at a hotel that made us feel more at home. Our stay at Hotel Al Ponte Antico was magnificent. The owners and staff of this hotel went out of there way to make us as comfortable as possible as well as removing much of the stress that comes with travel. They were the perfect hosts. The hotel is beautiful. The location is perfect, and the food is amazing. We highly recommend staying with them if you are looking for a wonderful experience in Venice.

This hotel was absolutely magical. Quintessential old Venetian hotel with world class service. The staff consistently addressed us by our names, provided great recommendations for food/sites and even got up early one morning to serve us breakfast before we had to catch an early train back to Rome. Excellent doesn't even recommend this hotel enough. From the moment you arrive you are transported to somewhere else entirely. The wonderful welcome, the fantastic and easy check in and the tour of the incredible hotel in its amazing location. The personal touch in the hotel is second to none, the breakfast freshly made each morning served in the splendor of the dining room and terrace as you watch the world go by. Two nights was not enough, we will definitely be back!

BEST PLACE ON THE GRAND CANAL

We had the room that was literally on the Grand Canal, open the window and the Grand Canal waters are lapping below the window...you just can't get better than that.
Breakfast was wonderful and filling , kept us going for most of the day. Any employee that was at the front desk ....were a copy of the owners pride and service to you as their customer.
Our room oozed with Character of the 14th Century ...was an absolute delight .
The room was was not 5 star type room....but it does not matter , the room was huge , clean & comfortable and fill of Character
The Location , well words can describe it, but the pictures enclosed tells a million words, fantastic, wonderful, convenient to all that encompasses this special City of Venice
The restaurant & Bar upstairs , with a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal is stunning, from the Original Alfresco Ceiling to the most wonderful Coffee machine , just keeps the Grandeur of this Boutique Hotel going

All I can say more is ..if you are going to Venice and want that once in a lifetime memory of this special place...you simply must stay at this Hotel...it will complete your life time experience of Venice

Great service in a unique hotel

This place is a lovely small boutique. They provide a personalised service where they really make an effort to meet each guest. The passion from the staff with regards to the hotel was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again. We caught water taxis to and from the train station so getting there was easy. (Cost 50-65€ each way for the both of us, but you can use public ferries as a cheaper option). I sent an email with a couple of questions before arrival and the response was superb. Everything we wanted to see was walkable and there were many good food options around. Each evening we sat on the balcony for a quite drink before going to bed and the staff were more than accomodating.

A very good hotel. We are grateful for the hospitality, all the extras and the personal attention of the owner and the staff. There is a 24 hours service, you can even have a cup of tea served after midnight. The rooms are beautifully decorated, especially the common room just puts you back in time. Every tiny detail is wonderfully presented. A delicious simple warm breakfast was served in that amazing room with a spectacular view.

It’s our 10th wedding anniversary and we were very lucky to get this lovely & upgrading to luxury room which facing and just step to the river.

it’s wonderful when the owner introduced himself and the staffs remembered your name during your stay.

The breakfast just like the other hotel but amazingly some of foods such as omelette,pancakes and hot pan from the kitchen prepared by Mr.mateo itself and some of the desserts prepared by his wife.

Great location which centre of the city.

this hotel is above the excellent,the information given was helpful and the atmosphere was like Venetian feel.

I can’t recommend this hotel and the level of attentiveness more highly exceptional stuff.
Only 9 suites in a 14th century palace.

Our stay at this hotel far exceeds excellence! The owner, Matteo, greeted us by name as we entered the door (even two hours later than I had notified). He gave us a tour and information about his purchase of the hotel to our inquisition. The terrace is the highlight of this hotel, and the location is perfection. Follow their written directions, and you'll easily location the hidden alleyway to the entrance. Breakfast is superb! Amenities are superb! Staff is superb, and they obviously follow the example that Matteo exemplifies. When you book your stay here, include time to sit and enjoy the canal from the terrace - day AND night. It's a must! I want to go back to Venice to stay here! Thank you, Matteo and staff. You exceed customer service.

We LOVED our stay at Al Ponte Antico! From the moment we arrived and hotel owner, Matteo helped us off the boat it was a one of a kind experience. Matteo gave us a tour of his beautiful hotel and the entire staff was lovely throughout our stay. Matteo's Bfast was delicious...homemade omelettes and crepes. Cappuccino and and a table overflowing with pastries, fruit, yogurt and more. Roselba and Oliver also took great care of all of our needs and even before we arrived, Matteo's brother Bruno took my emails and graciously answered all our questions. A wonderful family and staff. Amazing rooms right on the canal with an unforgettable view of the Rialto Bridge. Perfect location to everything. We will be back!

This is a fabulous, small hotel, right in the centre of Venice. Despite being really close to the Rialto Bridge, it's an oasis of calm, and the owner and his staff couldn't have done more to make us welcome. Our room was elegant and comfortable, overlooking the small terrace and the Grand Canal beyond. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

This 9 room hotel is spectacular! Being a small hotel has great advantages. We were always greeted by name and were well taken care of. The service at this hotel is tops. The biggest highlight was the breakfast. Made to order by the owner Matteo. Amazing cappuccino, omelet and crepes. The view from the deck was fabulous! You can't find a better central location. Firstly the location is stunning, right next to the Rialto Bridge, you could not get a more perfect spot if you tried.
We arrived to the most warmest of welcomes from the hotels owner. In fact all of the hotels staff were very friendly and lovely, they couldn't do enough for you. Breakfasts are wonderful with all manner of things to have. Rooms are beautifully decorated, but if I was going to be picky about anything (and this is being picky) then I'd say that some of the decor is a bit tatty in places, but that doesn't mean this isn't a gorgeous hotel.
If you are planning to go to Venice then stay here, I'd imagine this hotel is the best!

An absolute Gem!

This little 9 rooms hotel was the absolute standout for us. We spent a little more here and it was certainly worth it. To walk into the room the first night was just delightful. Beautifully decorated just as I had imagined. Small but thats pretty standard across all of Italy. There was nothing not to love about this hotel. From our late night arrival meeting Tomaso, knowing straight away that this little place had some personality! A hit immediately. Breakfast was the best we had in our entire month. Freshly made ommlettes by Matteo and the gorgeous sweet treats over breakfast made by his wife were something to get up early for! All staff were great, alex, David, Oliver and the lovely Rosie. The location was perfect. I had concerns about noise being on the grand canal and by the Rialto Bridge but it was perfect. A highlight was being able to meet other guests. We did this each day at breakfast and also in teh afternoons on the lovely terrace overlooking the canal. A great social place to stay. Many Aussies, Canadians, UKers and Americans made a great mix. Can't recomend this place highly enough. A must do!

Simply perfect

This ancient little palace is simply gorgeous. Its location is surely the very best in Venice. It is beautifully restored to reflect the glory of early Venice. Matteo and his team should be filmed to teach other people what top hospitality means. This was our first time at Il Ponte Antico and we now regard it as the only place to stay. Fabulous little hotel on the Grand Canal

What a gem. A lovely boutique hotel, an old palace decorated in period style, just off the Rialto bridge and smack on the grand canal. The staff take a personal interest in you, all know you by name, remember your preferences and take great care of you. Big comfortable room and a sensational balcony on the canal for breakfast and drinks finishes off the great experience.

Greatest hotel staff EVER!!

This is a great hotel, I wish we could have stayed there during our entire trip to Italy. From the time of our booking - Bruno was so accommodating and helped us secure reservations for an incredible dinner. Once we arrived at the hotel, Alex, Lorenzo, Thomas and the owner Mateo made our stay so welcoming. The hotel is really close to Ponte Rialto and a great location. A special thank you to the night manager (Thomas) who took us all the way to the right train station on the early morning we had to head out of town. Thank you so much

Absolutely fantastic!

From the moment we stepped foot from the water taxi we were greeted by the owner. Mr Mateo really was the most welcoming and helpful person I think I have ever met. The hotel was gorgeous and we were surprised to find out it was a 14th century palace which he had decorated accordingly. The view from the patio where we enjoyed lovely wine in the evening and breakfast in the morning is directly facing the Rialto bridge. I really did pinch myself at the views and watching Venice life and gondolas pass by. All the hotel staff called us by our Christian names and really were falling over themselves to make sure we got the most of our trip. We were advised where to visit and when, given a map and instructions of how to get around and totally looked after. It was perfect. Thank you so much.

Hotel is in great condition. Staff is very nice. Very personal touch in every way. They go out of their way to help you. Room was great. We were in junior suite with a direct view to the water. Very romantic and very private. Only things that weren't perfect was the bed was 2 twins pushed together which caused some issues and also the drain in the shower had issues. Other than that everything was great. They make awesome breakfast in the morning as well. The balcony is one of the most unique parts. No other hotel can beat this.

Maybe since we only booked here one night , we got the worst room (102)- A/C was out -very hot and muggy-no fans available. Also room smelled like mildew- shower overflows and reaches carpet. beds not comfortable-also noisy at night -in middle of lots of activity- We like 5 star hotels, but reviews were so high thought we'd try it. If you like small, quaint , different then try it. Other guests we met seemed pleased. I'd give it 3 stars at best- should've stayed at Bauer or one of the Leading hotels .Would have helped if they'd tried to compensate us in some way- even a small discount would have left a better taste in my mouth.

Loved Every Minute

This hotel is a 14th century palace transformed in to a nine bedroom boutique hotel. The owner and his beautiful staff make the most of the number of guests they can accomodate by knowing who you are, how long you are there for and become instant friends. They are all so accomodating, beautiful and have the best recommendations to suit your interests while in Venice.
We booked the last room available the day before our arrival for a three night stay in Venice. We were worried about not getting a room with a view of the canal, but it didn't worry us one bit once we were there. We arrived by water taxi (highly recommend $110 euro from the airport) to a stunning little gem right at the foot of the Rialto Bridge, with a beautifully decorated interior and an outdoor balcony upstairs to enjoy the view at any time of the day.
We were not worried about being centrally located before arriving but are extremely glad now that we opted for a hotel right in the heart of Venice. You do plenty of walking around the city so having a hotel close to everything really did make exploring that little bit more convenient.
We travel quite a bit and live in hotels for extended periods of time for work and this is the first time we have every left a review... We wanted to say thank you to the beautiful staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Ciao xX

Sometimes in travelling, you come across a surprising gem. Al Ponte antico is a diamond. The personnel (you couldn't call them staff) are charming, knowledgable, and unconditionally friendly. The location is unbeatable... From the water taxi delivery to the door from the airport, to the terrace overlooking the beautiful chaos of the Grand Canal, for breakfast and then for afternoon drinks. Thank you Matteo ( and Alex, Tomas, Oliver and Rosalba) for turning a special stay into an unsurpassable one.

Wonderful hotel for anniversary trip!

We chose this hotel as part of our anniversary trip to Italy. It had great reviews on trip advisor. The staff is very accommodating and the personal attention you get at this hotel far surpasses the others.
The hotel is small with few rooms, but is very beautiful. The balcony overlooking the canal and Rialto Bridge is a wonderful place to have a meal or a cocktail. Breakfast every morning was excellent.
Well worth the money we paid!

Fabulous Hotel with views of the Rialto bridge

We have just returned from our 3 day stay at Al Ponte Antico and would like to say how impressed with the hotel and the staff we were. Firstly Matteo the owner meets you personally on arrival and shows you around this small but beautiful hotel, placed perfectly with views over the Rialto bridge from the terrace.

The staff are all so friendly and can honestly not do more for you to make your stay as perfect as possible, nothing is too much trouble. They will show you on the map where to visit and where to eat and all of their recommendations suited us completely. The buffet breakfast provided was lovely and so much choice, then Matteo cooked either eggs, omelette or crepes freshly for you.

In the afternoon, after seeing the sites, you could return and have drinks on the terrace, while watching the world go by on the Canal. If you like history and want to know more about Venice and the surrounding area then ask the staff, we had many enjoyable conversations with Oliver, who knew lots of interesting facts.

We would love to return again one day.

The best small hotel in Venice

We loved this hotel full of charm and character. The staff all of them were amazing so warm and welcoming. We arrived and left via water taxi definitely the way to do it. The hotel is small but very cosy and again the staff were brilliant nothing was too much trouble. It was a joy to stay here and we're looking to come back as soon as we can. The room was cosy nice big bathroom the shower was low but the bath has a built in jacuzzi feature.we really loved every moment can't wait to go back.

Fabulous hotel on the Grand Canal

On arrival we were greeted by the owner who treated us with warmth and hospitality throughout our stay. His team were obviously hand-picked because they like people and enjoy their work. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff. I can't ever remember being treated so well in any hotel - I cannot overstate this. Breakfasts each morning are lovely with lots of choice and cooked personally by the owner - his pancakes are a treat! Early evenings we spent on the terrace with a cocktail watching life go by on the Grand Canal. Perfect. The staff were all knowledgeable about their city and gave recommendations which proved to be excellent. Another plus - everyone spoke excellent English (as well as other languages).

Beautiful little hotel on the Grand Canal

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. We were in one of the cheapest rooms so it was quite small but beautifully decorated. The staff were all very helpful and couldn't have been nicer.

I would recommend taking the water taxi to the hotel, the pedestrian entrance is quite hard to find and the experience of arriving by boat is much more enjoyable than dragging cases through busy streets.

I hope to return one day!

Great location, attentive staff, beautiful balcony

We only had one night in Venice and searched to find an excellent location on the Grand Canal in the midst of San Marco, close to great restaurants, with a wonderful view. This boutique inn is the perfect spot; after being in Italy one week, the attentive staff was very welcoming and helpful. The picturesque balcony overlooking the water and Rialto Bridge was our favorite spot - it was tempting to just stay there instead of touring the city. The room was large and spacious with high quality sheets and extremely comfortable bed; we were lulled by the sounds of the water to our best night's sleep all week. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise with much to choose from, including omelletes made to order by their incredible staff. They gave us many excellent tips to help us feel like a local and avoid some of the more touristy areas. Thank you to the Peruch Family for creating such a very special place. The photos are accurate; it is even more beautiful in person.

Wonderful view of the Grand Canal

The hotel is lovely. There is a patio overlooking the Grand Canal that is incredible. We had breakfast there and an afternoon break relaxing and watching the traffic. The location of the hotel is excellent and the staff is wonderful. Only disadvantage is the shower in the bath room if you are tall - but the jacuzzi tub is wonderful.

Perfect Location

Excellent Hotel, perfect location & central to all areas. We found sitting on the terrace enjoying the views of the Rialto Bridge a wonderful experience. Hospitality was amazing. Matteo the owner and his wonderful staff made our stay magical, for couples this is a must.

Great locattion, Great Stafff!

The location turned out to be a critical and unanticipated piece of good fortune. Venice is a maze and the Al Ponte Antico is just a block from the Rialto Pier. All over Venice are building signs pointing to Rialto Pier so finding your way back was easy. The staff and owner knew who we were when we walked into the door and called us(and all the guests) by name the entire stay. One of the benefits to a small, 9 room boutique hotel.. The owner/chef prepares a great complimentary breakfast and the dining room becomes a great place to have a glass of local wine before heading out to dinner each evening. There's a lot of attention to details and pride with the staff. The room was huge and well done. The bathroom shower was tiny and the only challenge of our entire stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Al Ponte Antico again. I'd recommend buying a water taxi pass for the length of your stay versus paying each trip and don't miss the island of Murano!
