The Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is set in a fabulous location in the centre of Sorrento. It's very peaceful, surrounded by parkland and fabulous views over the bay toward Vesuvio. The interior is pristine, very clean and beautifully decorated with many interesting antiques and artefacts. Staff are excellent - very polite, efficient and confident. Food & drinks are delightful. Overall, this is a fabulous hotel.

Iconic, but a little tired

This is an historic hotel. It has an impressive history and some beautiful rooms. The garden was lovely and the views of Mt Vesuvius are wonderful. The hotel feels a bit tired and neglected in some ways. We had booked a rather expensive suite and though the hotel was well under occupied in the second week of November instead of being upgraded we were offered an upgrade for an additional fee. We looked at both rooms and kept the one we had chosen. The upgraded room had quite a barren feel and was not warm or inviting though it did have a few of Vesuvius. I think we were spoiled by the exceptional service of Il Timeo in Taormina but the service at Vittoria was underwhelming. The workers were pleasant but no one seemed very enthused or positive about their work. It was kind of depressing. On the other hand the waitstaff at the breakfast and the Michelin star restaurant were quite good and cheerful. The Bousquet restaurant food was good but the decor and condition of the space was seriously lacking. Our suite was nice with a lovely garden view. We had a couple of room service meals and while most room service is over priced this was extraordinarily so. A small cup of vegetable soup was $22.00. It was interesting to stay at this hotel for it's history but I don't think I'd be inclined to stay there again.

The hotel is in the center of Sorrento which makes it easier to walk around, eat at restaurants and shop; the hotel is immaculate, the service very professional, the amenities superb, and the view incredible. The hotel has a preferred subcontracting relationship with a car/driver service, a private boat service on the island of Capri, and a Conceirge that attends to every detail that one requests. We have traveled through much of Europe and Asia over the past 15 years, and my wife and I consider Sorrento the very best location we have visited.

The building itself it is exclusive in its' beauty; the location, the common areas make you feel like you are a princess in a palace;
the check-in staff some members were cold, unfriendly; we returned 20 years after our first stay to enjoy the beauty, the setting of the place; unlike 20 years ago we got first assigned a room which resembled a 3 start hotel, not reflective of the price we paid; only after complaining we were reassigned to a room which was beautiful; considering the price// value and the prestige of the hotel, we should have been assigned the room reflective of the price to begin with; it left us w/ a disappointing sentiment about the establishment .

Spent 5 days to celebrate a wedding anniversary with family and friends. The rooms are charming with unique individual touches in every room. The seaside view is breathtaking but the gardens are also heavenly. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a live pianist daily. The staff are very attentive and nice. The beauty of the place is complemented by the quality of dining including a Michelin starred restaurant. The location is perfect in the middle of town and Capri is only 20 minutes away via a ferry that departs virtually at the bottom of the terrace elevator. The pool is large and modern and well attended with mats on the sunbeds and fresh towel service. Positano is only a 30 minute drive via taxi or driving although driving on this road is not for the amateur drivers. The manager Tiziana is extremely friendly and kind and added her personal touch to make our stay and celebration unforgettable. Make sure you talk to her if you plan on doing some serious shopping at Gucci in Capri! Overall an amazing experience and hope to return again soon!

The hotel is good, but not sure it is worth the extra cost. Wifi in the room was also very spotty, we had to sit next to the.room entrance door to have a reliable internet connection. Otherwise, hotel premises are great, and breakfast was amazing!

Has some problems with the booking and suite had only one bathroom but they gave us a second room until they could get us into a suite with two bathrooms. Staff was exceptional. The most welcoming staff of service people. The hotel staff is outstanding. The property is an exquisite gem of Sorrento. We loved walking around the grounds. On one walk we passed the organic garden and one of workers showed us the plants. He gave us small cuttings of fragrant basil. A true 5 star experience.

Amazing Hotel - can I rate it 10 stars!

One of the top hotels I have ever stayed in. Our room was luxurious with high end amenities and even a walk in closet. I have never had a walk in closet in any hotel! The location is stunning with easy access to town, but sitting on the cliff you have an entire view of the bay. The breakfast spread was over the top and not to be missed. We enjoyed the pool, drinks, the spa and even a charity dinner by the pool and in the grove. It was an absolutely magical stay and an incredible property.

My second stay at this impressive and historic hotel. The location and history is amazing but what is even more impressive is the training and attitude of the staff. Smooth, friendly and professional service from every single staffer. The breakfast is not for the dieting faint hearted! The Michelin star restaurant is fantastic! There are simply no flaws! Expensive yes, but that’s what it takes to reach this world class level. An unforgettable experience.

Looking for 5 star hotel? You found it. I know good hotels. I live in Vegas.
Price: high end, but worth every penny.
Location: excellent. Main entrance - from the heart of Sorrento main square via beautiful garden of 1-2 min walk. Back entrance to the straight down to the Port and benches via private lift.
Staff: Young, good looking, professional.
Rooms: get the see view. I was upgraded at the check in. complementary wine was on the table.
Breakfast: fresh, delicious, live music and amazing view.
Pool: spot for kids, dining tables at the bar, green loan, clean bathrooms with isolated cabins each with sink and toilet.
Main restaurant: Besides the Michelin one star, food can not be described by words.
WiFi: Works most of the time, but who cares. You are there to relax.

We spent 5 nights of our honeymoon at the gorgeous Excelsior Vittoria. All I can say it was beyond our expectations. Perfectly located in central Sorrento, it sits on large private grounds on cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea with beautiful views of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. A private elevator takes you down to the shore and boats for a quick trip to the Isle of Capri. The hotel itself is stunning with old world charm and the service is attentive and impeccable. The breakfast buffet is so extravagant you don't know where to start and we also recommend dinner at the starred Michelin restaurant...that was the highlight meal of our.. entire honeymoon. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel experience, we can highly recommend this hotel. Your stay here will be a lifetime memory.

It was in the heart of Sorrento. Met the owner who is likely in her seventy, whose family is also living in a separate building in the property. The garden was well maintained and beautiful. Beach is just one lift away. They also have a Michelin one star restaurant where we had good experience. Ferry to Capri island is just on the beach. So extremely convenient. The hotel is in perfect shape.

Regarding the Michelin star restaurant with amazing view to the bay. The food is probably worth 2 stars. The service dragged it down a bit. The crew was too much in hurry and bad control on the pace, and making mistakes here and there. Hand touching food, body hit chair etc. But well qualify for the one star.

This is truly a 5 star hotel. It is expensive but the service is great, the staff is extremely accommodating and the location cannot be beat.
I wish I knew more of the names worth mentioning because there are many but Giovanni the breakfast waiter, awesome. Giuseppe the breakfast host, also excellent.

The hotel only had 2 problems which although are uncomfortable could not take away very much from the rest of the awesomeness.
-water changes temperature in the shower continuously.
-Bidet installation in the master ensuite of the apartment we stayed in is too close to the wall to be used comfortably.

2 Days of Luxury!

After making an error with the first 3 days of our holiday it was critical that we picked a hotel that would deliver, the Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria did just that. Driving into this delightful hotel was just what was needed, our bags were magically taken away, check-in was simple and in no time, we were enjoying our first Prosecco, on the terrace overlooking the sea. A wonderful experience and one that we plan to repeat next year!

Outstanding hotel with spectacular views of the Bay of Naples. Conveniently located next to the port so the boat would be preferred means of transportation. The breakfast buffet was delicious, diverse and simply amazing. The wait staff was attentive and the pianist was a bonus to set the tone for old-world service and ambiance. We ate at poolside restaurant as well good wine, pizza and salad - a solid casual dining option. The turn-down service was a nice welcome bonus really appreciated the bottle water ever evening. Room 444 offered 3 balconies overlooking the garden and with a view of the bay too. So glad we splurged.

Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria is one of the nicest hotels in Italy. Outstanding on every level from excellent service, to cleanliness, to beautiful Rooms, friendly staff, to check-in/checkout process, to stunning property grounds, to location of hotel to the centre of town, the list goes on. It's is not cheap for a stay but worth every penny so if you are even remotely contemplating staying here, go for it. You will be impressed without regrets. 5 star all the way. Outstanding breakfast buffet that will get you through the day until dinner. Great view of Naples bay from the terrace. I will be back.

From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty just as Royalty and Celebrities who have stayed there hundreds of yeas. Location is everything and you could not want for a better location. Looking out to sea from the Terrace Bar / restaurant to the entrance at the end of the long garden driveway being at the main very busy Sorrento square where a concierge stands guard preventing everybody other than guests passing.
A superb Spa and a fantastic Swimming pool area with quality dinning not just a pool bar.
A Pianist plays back ground music every morning in the breakfast room which must be one of, if not the grandest breakfast room we have experienced.

The hotel was amazing. Whether poolside, in the lobby or in the restaurants, the service was exceptional ... so attentive and helpful! The pool area was wonderful and the view from the veranda beautiful. The buffet breakfast was extensive. And, both the veranda and the breakfast room often had beautiful piano music playing in the background.

This hotel is really wonderful !!! Everybody is eager to assist us. They booked our tickets for the ferry and they also arranged a boat ride in Capri . When we got to Capri ,a guy from our hotel in Capri was waiting for us to pick up our luggage and Marcello was waiting for us for the boat ride . Everything was arranged by the Concierge. The hotel location is perfect. We had dinner in the restaurant \"Le Bouquet\" and it was an unforgettable experience: service, food, view !!! We really had a great stay at this hotel !!!

An amazing hotel and staff. From the moment their car picked us up at the ferry to our last cab out, it was near perfect. The facility is impeccable and 5 star in every respect. Perfect location. Isolated quiet property but a short stroll down a garden path to get to the square of town. We had an ocean view and enjoyed wine on our balcony watching the sun settle in the sea. The entire staff was very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed the dining, pool and bar and felt pampered by everyone.we had them arrange private tours of Capri and the rest of the peninsula. If you are looking the perfect romantic get away, this is your spot. Insist on a sea view room. It will take your breath away.

Beautiful hotel; staff is professional, friendly, accommodating, everywhere we went they called olus by name and remembered our names from one day to the next. First class, luxurious, very special and romantic.

Excellent hotel, position couldn't be better.

The hotel is set back from hustle and bustle of the main square, in beautiful tranquil gardens. The staff were very friendly and greeted us personally. A lift takes you down to the marina where you can catch various ferries to Capri and other neighboring islands. I would highly recommend this hotel.
