Cramped room in a dodgy part of town - not 4 star

Overall, the hotel is much closer to a 2 star hotel than 4. The pictures are extremely flattering and don't provide a real sense of how small the bedroom and dining area is.

I could forgive a small space if it was used efficiently but the furniture, shower and even the doors are in desperate need of replacing.

My advice would be to only use this hotel if you're a solo traveller staying for one night and the price is comparable to those 2-3 stars nearby. For reference, we paid c£95 per night and felt short changed.

We were happy enough with the hotel room but unfortunately the bathroom was not very clean at all. The shower head was visibly dirty and mouldy (?) and the shower itself was also not clean around the edges. We asked to be moved to another room and we were upgraded to a room in the ground floor. That was a little better but the shower drain was still not that clean which was disappointing. Would definitely recommend redoing the bathrooms!

The staff were really nice and changed our room when there was an issue with noise; we got a free upgrade. However the hotel is more 3 star; the facilities need to be updated, the usual toiletries are not given, the sheets, towels and bathroom had stains and were not clean. The space was quite small and breakfast whilst ok was limited and not what you’d expect for a continental breakfast. The walls are too thin; the ear plugs provided do not adequately filter out the noise. It is a good location and the staff are really friendly and nice but I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again.

The staff at the hotel were very polite and helpful. The distance to the train station was great and a lovely walk into the more touristy areas. The area felt safe and the rooms and hotel was very clean. Enjoyed free coffee and pastries through the day. Shower was not amazing, couldn’t get consistent temperature and was quite weak. The pillows weren’t great so struggled to sleep some nights. Overall we had a lovely experience and would definitely come back!

Property is well situated very close to Nice Ville train station which is very convenient.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The bed was cozy, the towels were soft and the shower was very nice (just wash your step if you use conditioner as it makes shower bed a tad slippery). They have water, treats and a drink available mid afternoon. You will not be disappointed staying here. It’s an easy walk to everything.

I absolutely loved my five-night stay here. The best part was the staff. They are extremely friendly and helpful, especially the lady who I think is the manager (I think her name was Dotte). The room was nicely decorated if a bit small, but who goes to a hotel just to stay in their room the whole time? I didn't do the breakfast buffet but it looked and smelled delicious. Maybe next time for that. But the entrance lobby/lounge area offers comfy seating and free refreshments throughout the day. There's coffee, tea, still and sparkling water, and pastries like croissants and donuts. Definitely take advantage of it.

This hotel allows dogs, which is one of the reasons I chose this hotel. There's an extra fee of 10€ per night, but that's reasonable compared to what some other hotels in the area charge. Another plus is that this hotel is less than a 5-minute walk to the train station. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and it takes about 10-15 minutes to walk west to the main strip (the Centre Ville) and about 15 minutes to walk to the beach. Another great thing is their wifi. It's super fast! In terms of cleanliness, everything was super clean and well maintained. The room was very clean as was the entrance/lounge area. I saw them vacuuming and mopping it regularly.

My minor complaint is that the walls are fairly thin. You can hear people in the hall and in the next room. It wasn't terrible but definitely noticeable.

I definitely plan on staying here again.

Ended up staying at Villa Otero after our original hotel booking cancelled on us which was hotel Yelo. After walking passed Yelo on our way to dinner, I can safely say things worked out for the best.

Although the hotel is quite small, it's nicely presented and the staff are friendly. The rooms are also quite small but the bed was ridiculously comfortable.

We stayed for 5 nights as we were in Nice the Monaco Grand Prix weekend and for this the hotel was good. It's a short walk to the train station where you can get to Monaco in about 25 minutes.

It's also a short (just over mile) walk to the promenade/beach.

The only negatives I would have to say about this hotel was the room we stayed in was quite dark and didn't get much natural light. Also, the walls are quite thin so you can hear a lot of noise from upstairs/downstairs/left and right.

This wasn't a problem for me as I wear ear plugs but my partner struggled to sleep as a result.

For the price, I would recommend staying here.

Hotel owes me money

The room was not clean enough when we received it, there was dust all over the place specially under the bed, not clean enough for my cat and when we walked around the room our feet got dirty.
They have not taken the previous trash out so there was trash from the previous guest.
There was a bad smell coming from the bathroom, however from the second day it got better. They cleaned the room in the second day.
We went to have a breakfast on the last day, and it was great until the charged us for two days when I just mentioned we only had breakfast for one day. They mentioned that they would refund the money on the same day however I have not received it yet, it's been a month. They could have just pay me back on the checkout in cash but they didn't even mention it. They stopped answering my emails regarding the refund.
Be aware of this type of things when you book a 4-star hotel in a small town.

I greatly enjoyed my stay at Villa Otero! It was the perfect spot for a cozy room, a yummy & sufficient breakfast bar, and free espresso at any time of the day to help with jet lag. It is about a 7 minute walk to the main street, and 20 minute walk to Old Town where all the restaurants/beach is. It is only a 2 minute walk to the Grand Central train station, which is very easy commuting.

I stayed in a business room for 1 for an entire week, and was really pleased. Even though the room was small, it had everything I needed and was cleaned regularly to keep the small space tidy and well equipped.

The only thing that could make it better was a queen bed mattress that was not made by pushing 2 twins together- the middle part of the bed made for a less than comfortable sleep. Secondly, the room was a bit hot for sleeping conditions and the thermostat did not work. I was able to open the doors at night for some cool air.

I had high expectations based off the photos but unfortunately they weren’t met. The place is more outdated than it looks in the photos, due to covid they claim they only clean when requested. This is a shame, the rooms should be cleaned more due to covid.

The balcony door on my room was broken, the bathroom had a smell to it.

Considering the price paid I was a little disappointed. I chose this due to the pictures, location and breakfast. The location is perfect, breakfast not so much. It’s a very small selection and the same thing daily.

The hotel is located an 8 minute walk from the tram, a 10 minute walk from the city centre and 15 minute walk from the beach. It is in a good location with shops and restaurants located close by. The decor is nice, very quirky and staff are friendly and helpful. After check in we went to our room and found that the shower door was partially hanging off in the bathroom. We unpacked and after getting comfortable on the bed, a man opened the door and walked in. He said he was the technician to fix the shower. He had no regard for the fact that we were partially clothed in the room. The phone then rang and it was the hotel reception saying that a mistake had been made and we had been given the wrong room. We asked for someone to bring us the correct room key instead of going back downstairs like they had suggested. We asked to speak with the manager but no one came to speak with us about this situation.
Overall the stay at the hotel was pleasant. There were ongoing roadworks taking place on the street outside the hotel which went on until late in the night too.

Worth staying if don’t mind long way to Old Town

Hotel reception staff was very polite and helpful. However, I would say hotel housekeeper was not well trained as my room was not well cleaned throughout my stay (e.g. hair/dirt on the ground remained at the same spot throughout my stay). When I just check in, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom and the two bottles of complimentary water were not given in the room (however the reception staff were helpful and quickly provided these to me when I told them). There were initially 2 big towels and 2 small towels on my first day, but everyday after housekeeping some of the towels would have gone missing and not being replaced (e.g. on my third day there was only 1 big towel left in the bathroom). Also, the facial tissue in the bathroom was never refilled/replaced by the housekeeper.
The hotel is very close to the train station and suitable for people who consider travel a lot to nearby villages by train. However, it’s quite far from Nice old town and would take about 15-20 minutes walk there depending on your walking speed. Post office is nearby the hotel too and could be handy to mail post card. Some nice bakery shops are also nearby the hotel and good for quick breakfast before setting off to nearby villages if not taking breakfast in the hotel.
All in all, it’s a good place to stay.

Very close to the train station - about a 5 minutes walk. However it is quite far from the rest of Nice - beaches, shopping area etc. But it is walkable - around a 15-20 minutes walk to the beach. And you have to walk to find the tram, bus station etc. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. On the lobby floor - which is where you also eat breakfast - after breakfast, they turn it into a refreshing corner with water, drinks and some snacks. The rooms are nicely decorated - however we found it a bit dusty and the bathroom door was very hard to pull and push.

This hotel is OK. My husband and I stayed here 1 night as a stopover when traveling back to the US via Nice. For our purposes of needing a convenient place to sleep, it did the trick, but I wouldn't stay here longer for a night or when traveling for leisure,
The hotel has a cute design, but the location near the train station is purely functional - not the nicest block, the rooms are small and have a fair amount of wear and tear. The rooms could use work - i.e., paint touch-ups, faucet adjustments, lock replacements, etc. I'd give this place a 'c' and a 2 out of 4 stars.

Lovely boutique hotel with great location, less than 5 minutes walk to main train station; Gare de Ville Nice and main street when all the shops are. We had a lovely stay in this hotel, very quiet, bed was very comfortable and room was spacious for a city hotel. Breakfast was continental plus a small selection of cold meat and cheese, not bad at all. Very adequate to start the day definitely. Check in and out were efficient, hassle free, Wi-fi connection was very good also. The reason this review Is. It perfect is because there was some kind of sewer smell every now and then, not constant and goes very quickly in the room we had, the shower head holder was broken and we’d prefer firmer pillows. None of this ‘negatives’ was a big issue at all. Overall, this hotel was good value for money and we’s stay there again.

Pretty French styled hotel!

Hotel is located very near to main train station (~5 minutes walk), and easy to find with Google map. Around 16-20 minutes walk to main attraction aka Promenade de Anglais. Hotel room came with buffet breakfast, with eggs! Eggcellent, I must say. On top of buffet breakfast, they provide few pieces of sliced pound cake & chocolate drinks at the bar counter, until 11pm. In case one is peckish, he/she could get some calories from there. Room itself was opulently decorated, a bit too over for me (I would prefer the extra space for me to open up my luggage). But still, very pretty & French-styled. Good hot shower pressure, with clean fluffy towels. Room was adequately cleaned every day. The only gripe I had was their thin walls, and I couldn’t sleep well at nights due to inconsiderate neighbours slamming their luggages all over the place & talking loudly at 2am past midnight. Probably might need to put up a gentle reminder on the bed, so that the guests will know by certain timing to lower down their voices, so that they won’t disturb other guests.

I give 5/5 for everything. Wonderful staff who were very helpful and exceptionally friendly. Excellent facilities. A wow factor when you enter the place. Lovely boutique hotel. Lovely touches such as cake and coffee available 24/7 and fantastic rooms with unusual decor. Breakfast was continental style or good quality. Also excellent location. Most of Nice seems walkable if you stay south of train station. It was handy for us because we went to Monaco and Cannes on two of the days we stayed.

A couple of very minor things I would say for improvement would be;

it needs a bit of updating decorating wise. For example I noticed some scuff marks on the walls and paint work needing completing. I imagine over the quiet season they will sort this out. Minor maintenance stuff.

when the cleaner cleaned there were a few hairs left in the bathroom on two of the four nights I stayed. I know they weren’t mine because I’m bald 😃. But the cleaners were very friendly and did a great job otherwise.

Pretty close to the train station, I walked every morning to get the train and it's about 5 minutes or less.

The only problem is that the room walls are very thin and I could hear the couple next door during the night, which would had made me uncomfortable if I had a child or someone else traveling with me.

When we first arrived at the hotel, the reception/lounge area was beautiful. The decor was beautiful, retro and unique.

When we went to our room, we were a little disappointed at the size of the room, as it was really small. also found that our shower was used as it was wet and had hair in the shower. The towels left in our bathroom were all damp, it looked like someone had used our shower and towels and left it behind for us. We wanted to change rooms but they didn’t allow this so they cleaned up our room again.

The cleaner didn’t change our beds, swept the floor and forgotten to leave us clean towels twice even though we had put the sign out for our room to be cleaned.

Breakfast was also a little disappointing as the selections of food were minimal.. but hot drinks were free and unlimited throughout the day along with slices of cake and croissants too.

Beside from this, the staff were all friendly and helpful. The room itself is cute and bed is comfortable but wished it had more in their rooms and breakfast. They are meant to be a 4 star hotel but I think this is more of a 3 star hotel. The hotel isn’t bad, it was just ok.

Not a great start since we showed up at 11 am after our flight and we couldn’t check in until 3pm. Check in time is not clear on the hotel page. However, location and cleanliness of the hotel made up for it. The staff were also very helpful.

There is no place designated to temporarily put your car while checking in. We were given a room that hadn’t been serviced since the last occupants. Interior door handles are broken. The shower wand hose has a break in it so water sprays over the entire bathroom unless you hold it just right. The AC is very weak.

Very handy to the station and not too far to the tram line. A bit of a walk to the beach but quite easy. Lovely breakfast. A very comfortable hotel and great staff.

We enjoyed our stay a lot. The only comments to make is that the room was a bit small, with very little space to open big suitcases. Furthermore, the street area was quite noisy early in the mornings.

Great Hotel, better than your regular hotel chains

This is our second time staying at this hotel, although we were not in Nice for long, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, offering assistance with everything. The hotel is a little on the 'compact' side, but VERY clean and nicely decorated. It's very close to the main train station and is in a reasonable walking distance to great restaurants (coming from a heel wearer!). Also, because it was my birthday, they upgraded our room for free! We will definitely come back again.

A clean, friendly place to stay. It was a 10-15 minute walk to the beach and Old Town. It was also reasonably priced. I would definitely stay there again.
