Bonjour! I really enjoyed my stay at the Villa Berlioz.
All the staff was exceptionally welcoming, friendly and kind.
With a special thank you to Alexia at the front desk for breaking stuff down in english and being so helpful.
My room was very clean, tidy and just perfect for my needs.
The hotel was easy to find and very central to many places, restaurants, metro and bus station.
If I am ever in Lyon again definitely would look forward to visiting Villa Berlioz again. A lovely bunch keep up the good work.

The hotel is very near the gare de lyon parrache train station where you can have accessible train trips in other cities and neighboring schengen countries as well.
the tram stops right infront of the hotel which i found very convenient when i go around lyon. Overall it was a very satisfying stay , the staff are all very accommodating like the front desk girl named Gina?

I had a great stay. The stuff was very friendly and nice and helpful. The hotel was small but very cute and comfortable. Although it’s not the center the area and location was good and easy to access by trams metro and walking (20 min to old city and belcour place) . The only minor issue was that I tried contacting the hotel before my arrival several times and didn’t got a replay. Other then that it was perfect

Kind and helpful staff, but the place was quite meager for the amount paid (59 euros for one person room); for instance, the bed is tiny and there was a strange smell that I couldn't get rid of for the life of me. However, it is clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay.

A memorable 5 days in Lyon

I had a quiet but memorable 5 days in Lyon. The hotel staffs were friendly and very helpful. It’s location is the best, right next to Lyon Perrache train station. My room was small but it was lovely to go back to a warm cozy room after hours of walking and discovering old Lyon. If I were to visit Lyon again in the future, which I am hoping to, I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Great Location. The location of the hotel was very convenient with Suchet tram stop close by to go to Confluence (shops, restaurants, museum, etc) or to Part Dieu (station, bibliotheque, food halls Paul Bocuse, etc.). It was a short walk to Place Bellecour or to the rivers.

Easy access in central Lyon

Very good location. About 10 minutes walk from the largest square in Europe. Yes, the shower sure is small, but it worked well. The room is also quite small, but it is an older building in an old city. The elevator barely fits 2. It also worked well. The breakfast, which is extra, has a fair choice of cold items:3 meats, several cheeses, fruit, cereal, juices, good croissants and other breads, and a big coffee machine that makes several different styles. Lots of restaurants and a couple supermarkets in the area. Also an easy walk to a huge shopping centre, Confluence. The hotel's directions on their website were very good.

Suitable for business travellers, near the station and bus/tram stops so good connections.The downside is you get a lot of noise from the street level. I was on the first floor during my stay. Also, at the time of my 3 night stay, their was a big building works going on directly outside the hotel. I think the room tate is high for a moderate amenities hotel. Staff were very nice and helpful.

The staff at the hotel were excellent and friendly, whilst we didn't have too much interaction with them other than checking in & getting the key from them, they were always smiling. The room served it's purpose, it was quiet despite there being a tram stop outside and is very close to numerous eateries on either side of the train station. Most of the sights are within walking distance (I like to walk everywhere) or there's the metro in the Gare Lyon-Perrache that will take you anywhere. The decor of the room is basic and the Wifi can be a bit temperamental in the room. Would I stay there again? Probably

This hotel is in an excellent location right next to one of the central train stations, the rooms however are very quiet. The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished so everything is in good condition and the bathroom was compact but had everything we needed. Lovely staff. As with a lot of other hotels I have stayed in in Lyon (if they are not a big chain), you have to give the key back in to reception every time you leave, this is not a problem as reception is open 24 hours a day but can be odd at first if you have never stayed in a hotel like this. Small rooms which is what I expect from a city centre Lyon hotel but perfect for what they are.

Well, first room they gave us was way too small. There was not even space to put our two regular sized suitcases. The bed was uncomfortable, too, and so we had a very unpleasant first night. After explaining this to the hotel staff they agreed to put us in a bigger room at no extra cost, which was much appreciated. Otherwise the rooms were decent, clean, and the staff friendly. The bathrooms and in particular the shower was very small, but that seems to be standard at these types of hotels.

The location was good for us. Right next to Gare de Lyon-Parrache. Tram stop right outside the door. Easy walk in one direction to Place Bellecour and in the other direction to the Confluence shopping area. The room was OK, very small, shower small, but everything was clean, comfortable bed. We enjoyed a quiet sleep. You will hear other guests bang their doors shut but once they are in their rooms, we didn't hear them. Wi-Fi worked quite well in the room. We didn't have breakfast here so I can't comment on that.

Comfortable small 2* hotel .

This is only a 2* hotel so that needs to be bourne in mind. Noise was the biggest problem for me and I had to complain to neighbours on 3 separate occasions regarding the noise from their room in the early hours of the morning,
The doors to the rooms need serious attention It's impossible to close them quietly because of the top hinge so without fail EVERY door bangs with people coming and going at all hours.
This problem, together with the poor quality wifi , will prohibit my staying here again. Whenever I travel I need to have good access to email and internet and this was impossible on numerous occasions. The connection is not strong enough for the size of the hotel .

It is next door to a train station. Having said that I could not hear the trains. I was to leave Lyon via a different train station and the Hotel staff told me about the tram outside that goes directly to the other station 1.65E. Very helpful and it took about 20minutes. As a woman travelling on my own this Hotel is located in an area That I would be nervous
About walking around at night alone but during the day I felt safe. If you walk through the train station you are in one of the main streets through to the shops restaurants and a good walk to the old town across the river and the cathedral etc. all achievable even if you only have a few hours in Lyon. There were food markets on in the square on Friday nights by the train station 2 minute walk from Hotel. The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful as I do not speak French. The breakfast was everything that I needed. Staying there was a good experience my room was small and clean and perfectly adequate.

This hotel is indeed in a sketchy part of town. Down the street where I parked my car was hookers but besides that, it was fine. I parked for free on the city street about 2 streets down to save money on the paid parking. There are a few shawarma (kabob) places around to eat. The hotel room was clean and fine and for two students driving around France, it did the job. The location is right next to the train station and very close to walk around the main parts of Lyon. Ask the hotel manager for a map of Lyon if you need one.

Hotel Berlioz, more like a Hostel

The room was tiny but clean, it reminded me of my boarding school days. The shower stall was super small, resulting in me laughing everytime I had a shower. I'm already petite but every turn made me bump into something.
The hotel is in Perrache, it isn't the best neighborhood (has quite a few unsavory characters) but it is great in terms of accessibility. Trains, trams, buses....
Definitely not recommended for a single girl traveling.

the people at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. you can take a tram striaght from the train station or from the airport to the hotel. It's in a pretty convenient location. The staff they were pretty easy going and when they threw out our plastic camping dishes becuase they looked like garbage to the maid the person at the desk helped us pick through the day's garbage to retrieve them. Lyon is a lovely city.

We 4 friends found this an excellent location just off the main centre: easy to walk to all the main attractions & a tram stop right outside the front door for easy access to the TGV station & other attractions a bit further out. The hotel proprietors/managers were extrememy helful. The only possible downside was the small size of the bedrooms but we only needed somewhere to sleep so that was OK. We enjoyed walking through the main station to get to the town centre.

Budget stay in Lyon

Hotels in Lyon can be VERY expensive, If you're looking for a low cost stay in Lyon, then this may suit your needs. The hotel is located next to the Perrache rail station, although the old building was double glazed and there was no noize disturbance from there. Free Wireless Internet and flat screen TV was good. However the stairs, lift and Corridors are very cramped. The staff were great and helpful. The old town is a 15 minute walk away.

The bed is great and room is clean. The bathroom is small but enough for one person. My room is on 4/F but still hear the noise clearly from the ground and the hotel is just next to the train station so that u can hear the sound from the train till 11pm. The staff is nice and friendly. Most important is the air conditioner is so difficult to control and the controller is broken while the first day I were there but its fixed on the next day.( The machine is very old, looks like will broke soom)

La chambre simple est digne d'une cellule de prison.
Lit simple tout petit, aucune isolation dans la chambre.

Le chauffage n'était pas mis en route lors de mon arrivée dans la chambre, il faisait très froid.
La clim réversible ne fonctionnait pas correctement, elle était très bruyante et avait du mal à chauffer la chambre.

Chambre tout de même propre et petit-déjeuner convenable.

Buon hotel a veramente due passi dalla stazione

Buon albergo che ha come vantaggio principale la sua posizione strategica vicinissimo alla Stazione Lyon Perrache ed alla Metro. E' un hotel piccolo ma funzionale; noi eravamo in tre in una camera un po' piccola ma ci siamo stati. L'unica pecca è stato il non perfetto funzionamento dell'aria condizionata : funzionava solo la ventola e di notte faceva davvero molto caldo rendendo difficoltoso dormire e riposarsi. Però, tutto sommato e in generale, hotel ok.
